Melkweg Review

Very nice concerts in this building! But even though the room is open, it will take a while before you get inside (in my case, anyway). So when it rains, that's not nice. The hall opened at 7, the supporting act was at 8 and we were in line at 7:30 and we missed the supporting act completely ... so that is a great pity since you paid for it too.

Decent music venue. Good acoustics, cool acts coming by.

If you wanna experience your favourite band as if they're playing in your big backyard, that's one of the places you need to go, besides being nearby the going out center of Amsterdam.

We were at Jonathan Jeremaih's concert, standing on top of the balcony. Poor view of the stage, and blood is called. The public had absolutely no respect for the support act, while it was pretty good. Concert itself was top. As far as I am concerned, such a great artist should not stand in the Melkweg.

Good space and nice concert. Toilets and lockers available for use. Lockers were 2 and toilets free.

Super location! Good sound, good atmosphere. Not too hot. Bar is easily accessible. Separate smoking room. Good lockers. Clean toilets. I am always happy when I go here for a concert!

The concert hall OZ was a very pleasant hall. Lockers cost 2 euros and were sufficiently available.

It depends on the evening. Sometimes it's all rock, then rap.

Amazing venue for intimate concerts. You get a great view of the stage from pretty much anywhere. Entrance and exit are also extra smooth thanks to the crazy amount of lockers they have installed.

Great venue, but the main entrance/locker area is too small for big crowds causing chaos when trying to retrieve your belongings and leaving.

Historical building, top and varied program and lots of local and international talent.

The premises are nice, but the staff is totally overextended and unprofessional. They get violent and act unfriendly towards their guests. I will guaranteed never visit this club again!

The place itself is nice and the lockers are good too, but the queue could be better and checking bags would also be smart.

doors open a quarter of an hour later, despite the cold / 4 euros asking for a few bad earplugs of 20 cents / bar which only opens three quarters of an hour later.

Awesome venue for concerts, 3 stars because crowd management is TERRIBLE. Try getting your jacket from the gaderobe after a sold out show. You're guaranteed to wait another 30 minutes.

Had an amazing time here and the prices for drinks weren't as outrageous as I expected them to be.

Too bad the performance was so short. Great to see and hear the old Dutch Hiphop gods from the beginning. Sound was good.

Fat show from Lemaitre, nice little room and could walk straight to the room.

Book a lot of great bands .... but that is also the only good thing.

During the pause of the iconic Woodstock registration we watched the exhibition where this work stood out!

Oude Zaal (old hall) is small, but cozy, 2 levels. Cafe near it was offering very nice IPA at the time of my visit. The house beer is Jupiler. You can pay with cash or card at the bar. Cloakroom is cash only (1.50 per item).

One of the most famous pop temples in Amsterdam, just like Paradiso almost on Leidseplein.

Fanatic venue for bands and comedy... One of Amsterdams best

Music wasn't that Good. One side of the club is singles music and they change the songs very fast and worst part is that is full of young kids. It seems to me like a kindergarten(18) and I am 26 years old.
Entrance of this side was $10 euros.
We tried the other side for another $15 euros.
When I went was last week of november 2018. They had disco music. Not the best of what Im used to but I dance the night away either way. They ask for tips for the bathroom. Important it's not obligatory. The second floor of this side you can smoke and they have a small area with varierty of music.

Big enough for everybody to join. Small enough to have the artist close and feel like it's a family.

Nice bands and acts, but a lot of additional costs. Staff is also not always friendly.

Very popular place mostly with electronic music. If you like techno then you have to visit the event Techno Tuesday! its on every tuesday! 1 beer is 6 euros often has no entry.

Great venue. Expensive soft drinks. 2:80 for the tiniest 7up but acoustic of the room is great.

Saturday Hip-Hop and R&B night is great for a night out with good music and drinks

Favorable drink prices, reasonable toilets. Unfortunately, chairs were very close together and narrow.

Good place for concerts. The theme of the membership 4 euros. Buy. Without this you do not enter. It's why it's a private club.

The sound in here is terrible. The bass is so loud it hurts and you can't hear the music properly.
People just talk over the musicians which is really disrespectful. The drinks are really expensive and tiny. There was a huge queue outside in the pouring rain because the ticketing system is really inefficient. The acts came on really late too.

It s an amazing venue!!! My girlfriend and I visited the venue last night and we weren t disappointed!!! The DJ was amazing!!!

Remains a good location for pop concerts. A disadvantage is that membership that you have to buy.

Melkweg is the place where i grew up culturaly. The old Hall is just Right. New hall more of a venue. Everything from Afro Beat to Electro can be found here.

The concert hall is ok in general. I don't know a history around this building, but i suppose it is quiet famous. What disappointing is hidden fees. I think a lot of people know that, but the fact that you have to buy some sort of visitor card or whatever its called for 4 euros even when you already have tickets on your hands and you are not planning to come here anymore is annoying.

Went to a Palaye Royale concert, which was amazing! The vanue was great and the staff was very helpful and friendly. After the concert we even had the time to meet everyone from the band. The lead singer also has a tendency to climb on things and jump off things, the security was very professional and made sure nobody got hurt.

Cool event location in the heart of Amsterdam. In Melkweg you will find various function rooms that are tailored to the needs of larger and smaller events. Good sound during live concerts. Even if it is very crowded, there are fast drinks at the bars. Special bonus: The super friendly staff. We'll be back!

Super atmosphere, great DJ, cloakroom "locker" available for the sum of 2 .

A concept in Amsterdam. Bizarre that on top of an entrance ticket an extra fee must be paid (monthly membership) + money for a safe. This does not feel very customer friendly!
