We enjoyed staying at Melia Grand Hermitage Hotel in Varna, Bulgaria. The hotel is located very close to the beach, the pool is big, the hotel is clean and well maintained. Good service and fun activities for families. :)

A great hotel, great location and great facilities, I visited first in 2014, then again in 2015, my family went again in 2016 and I'm looking forward to going again this year. Staff are impeccable and cannot do enough for you.

14 days stay, family 2 adults + 2 children - the hotel is far from 5 *, rather bad, dirty restaurant, hard to find a table, lots of people, pool chairs for some club LEVEL, for ordinary vacationers a small number of sun loungers, from the early hours everything was booked with towels :: ((hopeless food, we got a 3-bed room and after the complaint they pushed us another extra bed which resulted in a complete lack of room and revolution - the husband had to squeeze two armchairs on the tiny terrace, table and sofa - massacre: ((( In the pool, terribly cold water, dyeing black linoleum around the pool, I generally do not recommend this hotel although I heard that it is the best hotel in Golden Sands: (Fortunately, this is our first and last stay in Bulgaria.

Arrived Friday at 11.30pm to Varna airport. Very efficient off the plane and baggage collect. Transport to hotel waiting and transfer took 20 mins.
Arrived at the hotel. A grand building and check-in was very pleasant and fast.
Sea/pool view room and very large and comfortable.
A safe, a large bathroom, plenty of storage and a great balcony.
The staff are mostly very good, but some are a bit miserable. Maybe understandable at the end of a long season.
The all inclusive deal is good, especially the food which in my view is brilliant.

There was plenty of food and drink. Staff happy and helpful. The hotel is really big so there are a lot of customers and the sun loungers fill up quickly. We had 2 double rooms, one with air conditioning circulating only room air (so it was mildly hot) and the other was too cold. Fortunately, air conditioning could sometimes be shut down.

Nice hotel with good facilities and entertainment, however food could be improved considerably. Special restaurants that require booking only offer the same bland buffet options. Only one choice of beer (lager) and cheap wine. Cocktails are the best if staying here and all inclusive. Overall had a good holiday but wouldn't return.

Nice hotel except for the lifts for such a huge hotel are too small and stuck several times a week.
Had on the 3rd day already spoiled my stomach at the food there and spent 1 day on toilet. As it got better, I only had light meals for one week. Then I started to eat normally again and spoiled my stomach for the second time ...
It was also the first time we had to pay in a 5 star hotel water bottles. So far there was always in each hotel so much you want for free and there 350ml 2,40 cost. Even the employees advise a water rather in the supermarket to buy.
What we still left it was that from 0 o'clock no open bar more gave except one pays his drinks as for example Gin tonic the paper cup for 6 therefore was also from 0uhr dead pants in the hotel.
The cleanliness was reasonably if the mirror of the two weeks was not cleaned or broken glass on the floor where you do not even glasses in the room has times fades out.
All in all it was the worst hotel we have visited so far. Even some 3 star hotels were better off the service.
Ps. Porters were from 22 o'clock or in the morning not more and also for people after 21 o'clock until there was no food and were asked to look for a restaurant in the city. Two stars are only for the staff in the dining room because the really great work otherwise we would have given only 1 star.

Great location, welcoming staff and good variety of food and drinks options on the all inclusive. Rooms are large and the facilities very child friendly. There are lots of activity options and a kids club on site. There is also beautiful sandy beaches and a lively promenade with shops, bars and restaurants only 200 meters away.

Like the hotel and the room. Spa from hotel dont offer what they must for money we paid. In the pool was very cold water!! Sauna didnt work well, temperature was low. Hamam the same. Restaurant: food ok but not big diversity. No porage for kids! no healty food for kids.

We were two in July in this hotel in Bulgaria (as a couple and not to celebrate). Arrival was around 9:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. After an exhausting day of travel, we wanted to fortify ourselves with a small dinner. We were only offered a midnight snack on request, although the Italian restaurant was still open, but only by reservation. The leftovers from the restaurant were probably not used for the guests. The midnight snack ultimately consisted of 2 dry slices of toast, a slice of dry ham, cheese, cucumber and a whole tomato. We found this to be very bad for a 5-star hotel and therefore started the holiday less well. The overall stay was okay, the room was fine. The cocktail selection was very manageable for All Inclusive and after the first evening we didn't feel like it anymore. During our stay we had a small JBL music box with us to listen to some music in the room, of course at a volume that didn't bother anyone. When we left we had to wait about an hour in the lobby because the staff wanted to check our room first (for whatever reason). When we got back home and unpacked our bag, we found that the music box was missing (worth about 150). We were very surprised, because we thought we had taken everything out of the room and if our room was checked again, the box should also have been noticed by the hotel staff. Then I called the hotel several times, of course at my own expense! Every time I got the information that they would look in the room and ask the cleaning staff and then they would contact me again, but no one has reported to this day !!! And it's been half a year now. So I will probably stay on the cost of the music box, so the memories of the vacation are not really positive. In addition, the possibility of doing something is also not particularly good. Overall, I absolutely cannot recommend the hotel. With 5 stars, the service, the food and the cocktail selection has hardly anything to do. And this is certainly not due to our aspiration, we both never visited a 5-star hotel in Germany and still found every stay to be a pleasant one !!!!

Provided that the price per room is 150-200 euros per day to ask you for another 10 levs for parking per day is just ridiculous.

The elevators are disgustingly slow, they can't handle the flow of people in the hotel and I never once could go down to the garage with them.

The food in the main restaurant (not for God's choice) is mediocre and poorly cooked. The tomatoes were cut into a robot without removing part of the stalk. A lot of things are greasy, tasteless. Very often it does not recharge fast enough and one has to wait for what one wants. The tables are not served on time, new utensils are not arranged.

The TVs in the room are small jokes, which, apart from meeting the standards for a star, are useless. The attempt to divert the channels led to the constant self-exclusion of this miracle of Chinese thought.

So my 3 stars arise for the following reasons:
First of all I have to say the staff was always polite and helpful
The hotel clean and nice
The hotel room could be renovated, especially the bathroom should be checked more often. Because there are no windows, mold quickly develops.
The cleaning lady, however, did not make the room every day (we also had the do not disturb sign on it twice) on the last day this sign was ignored and they simply went into the room and put fresh bed linen before we checked out (our At that time things were no longer in the safe and simply entering the room is not possible)
The location of the hotel is excellent and there is plenty to do for children.
The food is a total disaster, disgusting, half raw and cold and I definitely don't recommend booking all-in. I brought home food poisoning, the last 3 days of my vacation I just hung over the porcelain bowl of 7 days vacation, which is a very bad and sad rate. For 1000 euros, 3 days were absolutely wasted. But who can claim their money back because of spoiled food ?!
On the whole, you can recommend the hotel because of the location, the view of the sea, the pool, the kids slide and the friendly staff. But don't book all in, prefer to eat out. Everything is super cheap in Bulgaria.
The hotel is advertised with 5 stars. According to my experience after a week's vacation - conclusion = this hotel deserves a maximum of 3 stars and I'm really sorry about that and it's really because of the bad food, otherwise I'm really very happy but I can't give more than 3 stars as I have Paid so much money and come home sick and couldn't eat anything because the really, really bad food blew my mind. I'm sorry for 3 stars.

Good day. I was in this hotel for a great vacation. I will only say that I will not say a bad word. Wonderful service, very good food, cleanliness at the highest level, close to the beach, promenade and numerous attractions ... The hotel has water slides, a swimming pool, a rope park and numerous animations. We're back here in a year for 14 days !!!

IMHO, this is not a 5*, I have something to compare. 1) too small a lounge, 2) need to wait long for the arrival of the Elevator, 3) I didn't like how they were cleaning the hotel and room. AND SO...Going to the beach is not so close while the hotel is built on a HILL...

You will pay 5* but you will stay at 3*. Foods are always overcooked and tasteless.<br/>You need to ask for dental kit!!! Yes! Unbelievable !! We reserved a sea view room but they gave us a partial view! And they said they have two different sea view!however, they haven't mentioned it!! So be careful if you dont have any option and you need to stay at this hotel. <br/>I asked for iron and iron table, they provide me an old and dirty one! Yes! You need to ask! Most of the time there is bad smell in elevators! <br/>The building is old, and the facilities are not enough. You need to wait for elevators, and most of the time are full. <br/>All in all, it doesn't worth it. If you are planning to come to Varna, try to find another hotel, otherwise, this is what you need to know. I wish I could upload some pictures to see what I am talking about!

A beautiful hotel, everything is in place here. Cleaning at the highest levels. Great service. The Level incredible pools, with a personal bar and poolside service. A corner of paradise. Good quality restaurants, but the tastes and habits of us Italians do not make us appreciate how much is served to us. Abundant breakfast. Spotless rooms, our 100 square meter suite was gorgeous, with a sea view. Spotless. If you stay here, I recommend The Level option

The Melia gets three stars from us, because here and there for five stars could be made a little better. If you book the Melia you should know that it is very large with over 700 rooms. The view is a matter of taste with wells and LEDs in one opinion quite nicely done. The entrance area is very generous with lots of glass and there is also a page to help. The lobby with reception is spacious and open, the staff at the front desk was always friendly. However, you should bring English skills. There are two categories of guests, the normal and the level guests. Although in my opinion it makes little difference point the biggest is probably the restaurant where it is cooked something better, finer and maybe with a little more feeling. Because in the main restaurant for the normal guests, it is unfortunately a shambles, which could be made easier by changing. The Anchang is sometimes very high and everyone runs confused and the hot food is very carelessly thrown on the grill and fried dead. The salad buffet is always something, the fresh fruit should be looked at better, a lot of zermatschtes and moldy. The dessert buffet is a matter of taste but you will find here and there but a treat. There are always different types of ice cream. So choice there is still the Italian and the Bavarian restaurant. Both are smaller and quieter. In the Italian we liked it very much, the starter buffet gets 5 stars, see pictures. The warm buffet is small but delicious, the dessert also. What I say is very positive is the birthday children a cupcake and a bottle of sparkling wine on the house, as well as a wedding cake and a bottle of sparkling wine. The rooms are very spacious and nice, also the balcony. Firstly, I would abolish the cardboard straws, mug is okay but the straws do not go after a while. As mentioned, in the restaurant I would definitely change the system and also the preparation of the warm dishes. Unfortunately, you always had to spice everything up. For the Bavarian restaurant you should probably hire a German chef, who also knows how the dishes are cooked. On the whole it was a very nice holiday and who did not care much for food and on large crowds at the buffet and pool is great.

This hotel is a mess, waaaay below any Melia standard. No cleaning service in the room in 3 of the 7 days, 2 days we Kindly asked the made to clean our room. Average food, average drinks, no social distancing whatsoever. But listen to this....the last night we have had the worst experience when we did not feel respected or safe in Any way. We were dancing At the pool bar and some other guests thrown beer cans from the 7th floor in our head. I did Find a broken beer can in the purse later that night. The stuff had no reaction. In 30 minutes, the same guests thrown orange juice in our head. There was no reaction again. My husband and other guy wanted to go up to fix the problem ourselves. The security agents were not there, did not interfere in Any way, more than that when we were heading up after the awful experience 2 security agents were slowly having a walk inside the hotel, chatting. So... the question is...Why do dancing programs are organised in Covid period? Why if someone is organising something and paying the service of security agents, they do not do their job? Why in a large international chain they do not Even bother to applogies to the turists for such a big inconvenience. How did Melia asured my health and security in the 7 days i was there? By making us sign we are fully responsible for any disease we might get? By letting the bread and drinks area in the restaurant for self service? All the glasses, all the bread! We were in Melia Nusa Dua this year in February where we have had a wonderful time! Here, you should just be ashamed for having the same name!

I actually had a booking in this hotel from 27.9 to 6.10, which I have booked months in advance. Then I am only the last day canceled (6.10) and then the first day of my vacation will be canceled (27.9) I'm sorry, but from the 5 star hotel I expect a reasonable planning.
