We booked a Moet & Chandon 5 course dinner package...

We booked a Moet & Chandon 5 course dinner package that included overnight accommodation, buffet breakfast next morning and walk-on ferry fare. For not much extra we also upgraded to a water view room. The experience was above expectation. The check-in experience at the mainland office for the ferry and secure car park was easy and friendly, as it was at resort reception. All staff are friendly and helpful, with some being multi-skilled, eg people managing luggage or wearing Ranger uniforms readily jumping behind the service desk to assist dedicated staff and help waiting customers as best they could. We arrived early at the resort and used the facilities all day. The pools are large and relaxing in a resort setting and includes a warm spa. Apart from toilets, there are no change facilities if you haven't been able to check into your room. Our room #269 was spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The resort had discovered we were celebrating a significant wedding anniversary and to our surprise, a nice cold bottle of bubbly was in our fridge. Thanks KBR for such a lovely gesture! The dinner itself was wonderful, with intimate tables for two predominantly set up, and larger tables for groups. Each meal course was very very good quality and the champagne and other drinks were well matched. There was certainly enough included beverage to accompany the dinner. The wait staff were very engaging and so friendly. The head chef was very professional, using a microphone to eloquently introduce himself, speak about the champagne dinner concept and to explain each course. What an enjoyable evening. A good nights sleep followed by a quality buffet breakfast and easy check-out topped off a great weekend, and that was without taking up any of the many available activities.
While this resort does not match the tropical luxury of those in places like the Maldives, Tahiti, Barbados etc, it punches above its weight in terms of value, comfort, diversity of experiences on this iconic island and staff friendliness and attitude. These package deals are great. We'll keep coming back and will stay longer in future. Thanks KBR.

Unique eco resort situated on the Western side of Fraser Is. 4wd barge service operates from River Heads on the Mainland. Many levels of accommodation in Rainforest setting overlooking the Sandy Straits. Two main areas. One for resort guests with large swimming pool, reception, and Restaurant. The Lodge reception area of the resort is quite spectacular and worth the visit. There is also another area for visitors with a Bistro and swimming pool opposite the resort. White Sandy Beaches and pristine aquamarine
water. Long jetty for offloading 4wd vehicle's and tourist buses. Guests at resort fish from the jetty. It is a favourite anchorage for yachts and motor boats, and to have a swim in the beautiful waters and walk in the rain forest.

The island is really beautiful. The resort is very touristy, everything is well organized. The fine restaurant is worth it. There are specialties of emu, kangaroo, etc. seasoned with herbs from the bush.

We expected more from all pictures on the internet. Service was so-so and the food just mass processing.

The rooms were nice and spacious only the balcony was full of bird droppings (was not removed by the service over the days).

Beautiful island and nice resort. Rooms are very tired & very loud. We couldn't sleep past 6 am during our holiday due to all the noise from upstairs & outside our door.

Pools were nice but so crowded that you had to get there first thing in the morning to reserve a chair or you were out of luck. Would be nice if 1 pool could be adults only in order to cut down on all the constant chaos.

Dining a bit limited with 40+ minute wait for takeaway.

All in all it was ok, but far from what we would consider a relaxing holiday and certainly better suited for families over couples.

Fraser Island is a spectacular place to visit, but...

Fraser Island is a spectacular place to visit, but I really can't say the same about Kingfisher Bay Resort.

I paid full price for a 2 bedroom villa and on day one, the toilet did not work. The maintenance staff's initial band aid solution was to have the septic lid off so we could flush the toilet (how revolting!) It was like this for about 2 nights and I found this unacceptable. Additionally, I had to report an insect nest that was approximately 30 cm x 2 cm large in area on the window shutters.

Thankfully these issues got resolved and the staff acted on it quickly. Although, these issues should have been identified and fully resolved before they place any guests in the room.

The kitchen and bathroom looked very old and really could do with a decent revamp. Kingfisher Bay Resort claims to be a 4 star resort, however, given how old these parts of the villa were, I would say the accommodation should be rated as 2 star at best. At least the beds were comfortable and the furniture was reasonably modern and up to date. Overall, I really felt ripped off after paying for accommodation that was overrated.

Another comment I should mention about the resort, was that the processes were not supporting the staff. This led to staff giving me things that I did not request. A typical example of this was reflected when I asked for a hamburger bun at the Maheno restaurant and subsequently I received an entire burger and chips. They then charged me an entire $19 for the hamburger bun. They tried to do the same thing at the Sand Bar a couple of days later, but when I asked the server "Are you really going to charge me for a hamburger bun?", the server thought to check with a colleague and then only charged me $2. This meant that on the first occasion I overpaid $17 for a hamburger bun as the staff did not think to readjust what they initially charged me at the Maheno restaurant.

On a another occasion, I requested a printed copy of my bill the day before checkout. The staff member who I dealt with did not want to provide it. After really insisting that I should have a printed copy, she reluctantly provided it.

After going away and checking it, I noticed that there was a duplicate charge for a tour. When returning to the front desk and requesting that the duplicate charge should be credited back to me, it felt like I was pulling teeth. Additionally, this staff member told me that she already charged my credit card after the first time I visited her. However, when I requested a printed copy of my bill on the first visit, she did not tell me that she was going to charge my credit. The whole experience just felt very stressful. People who work at resorts need to understand that consumers visit resorts to escape stress rather than endure stress. Her attitude towards me was so condescending and I had to explain that it was my right as a consumer to review the bill before paying the bill.

To the management of Kingfisher Bay Resort, please train your staff on the processes to better support them, otherwise you will run this business to the ground.

My advice to holiday makers wanting to visit Fraser Island:

1. Don't pay full price for a resort that is falsely rated as four stars. Try to get a discount via the Luxury Escapes.
2. Don't bother charging anything to your room. Pay as go and monitor the charges closely.

It was a nice place but alot of things in our villa didn't work. Locks on doors and iron. Beds were super uncomfortable. And a staff member spilt red juice from a steak meal all over my good shirt while I was attending a wedding and put a downer on my night. Then wouldn't do anything to compensate for it.

While we didn t stay in the resort proper, we did get a chance to look around and eat at the awesome Sandbar restaurant. The resort is stunning. It s the perfect blend of wildlife adventure and modern, comfortable amenities. I ve been to other eco-resort style facilities and this, by far has the combination down pat.

Being this this far from mainland facilities I was expecting the pricing to be ridiculous for everyday needs, but barring the fuel prices (fill up before you go), everything was reasonably priced between the restaurants and the general store. The Sandbar restaurant/bar was excellent. A huge selection on the menu, prices better than some mainland counterparts.

The ribs, Thai chicken pizza AND salad are bloody fantastic. No, I didn t eat it all in one sitting.

The staff were great, some a bit green but under excellent supervision. It s a beautiful bit of decor in a perfect location. I could not have been happier.

We visited the resort whilst we were on that side of the Island. We grabbed a meal and a cold drink or two. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. The resort itself was looking a bit dated. But I would say if you are staying on the island, you should be exploring every day.

We stayed in one of the villas close to the restaurants and pools for 5 nights. it was very dated and heavily used.

Cleanliness was an issue, especially the carpet was very dusty.

Most of the tiles were moving (not attached to the subfloor anymore), the kitchen cooktop (gas) didn t work properly.

Shampoo, hand soap, etc., are in dispensers attached to the wall...

Very noisy during the night with loud music and karaoke from the pools area. Pools water was very cold (mid September).

Fraser Island is a paradise, these facilities are not up to the requirements of this island. It needs refurbishment ASAP.

If it was not because of its proximity to the ferry I would not go back to this resort.

Kingfisher Bay Resort was awesome. We stayed there with our teenage son. Excellent facilities, relaxing atmosphere, well stocked buffet breakfast, multiple bars and restaurants. Food/drink bit pricey but expected on an island with higher logistical costs. The staff are attentive. Beds very comfortable. Tip; if you are staying in hotel room (save money) take an esky for snack options to reduce costs, there is ice at the kiosk. Also, you must do the Beauty Spot tour. Very imformative guide. Do the optional scenic flight - at $80 it was a treat. Segway tour fun for kids. Dont take your car unless 4WD. Whale watching tour also recommended. Small matter, some of the kids games at Sand Bar were not working properly. They really need to be updated with modern equipment. Different menu options at some of the restaurants (maybe on weekends) would improve variety. However, fantastic stay. Thankyou everyone who made our stay memorable.

A truly unique resort on Fraser Island! The four-wheel drive tours across the island start from here! Impressive reception hall with various locations! A buffet restaurant, a pool bar with snacks and an excellent a la carte restaurant!
We ate very well here on the second evening of our stay!
But the buffet restaurant is also recommended! Breakfast buffet also very varied and good!
Friendly staff and service staff throughout the resort!
Great adventure tours over the largest sand island in the world as well as a fantastic sightseeing flight over the lakes and the tropical rainforest!
Finally, a cool swim in Lake McKenzie and paradise is so close

Awesome resort on Fraser Island. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The dining is great! There is so much to do from the resort that you'll need several days to experience it all. A highlight was the Sunset Bar which offers drinks and food platters to enjoy as you watch the sun set over the ocean. I hoghly recommend a visit. The staff are extremely professional and attentive to your needs while on the island. It is the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or relax for a holiday.

Fraser Island is amazing and should not be missed. However, the kingfisher resort seems as if they have fallen asleep. They won some
awards and stopped changing. Hence you have rooms and villas that are getting in worse condition and not being repaired. The breakfast is very simple and slightly overpriced.
- you have to ask for cheese and then get 1 slice.
- good coffee is extra

KINGFISHER BAY RESORT

KINGFISHER BAY RESORT

OVER PRICED AND ABSOLUTELY FILTHY!!

Just to warn anyone out there thinking of staying at the above resort, take a look at these photos and see if you still feel the same. This is what we had to endure over a 5 night Christmas stay at this so called 4 Star resort. The rooms were absolutely filthy bedding not changed at all during our stay. Rooms weren't cleaned or vacuumed and a full ashtray was left on our deck from 1st day and still there when we left....we do not smoke!! It cost our family of 5 over $5000 to stay in two filthy tired rooms and then they have the audacity to offer a 1 night stay as their apology.....REALLY!!

Awesome experience, great service, good one day tour packages and good food. Fraser Island makes a great holiday and kingfisher bay resort is the place to be, especially if you don't have a 4WD. We stayed for 3 nights and did the one day 4WD tour and also a half day whale watching. Both were amazing experience. We had done whale watching in Port Macquarie last year, but there were far more sightings here.

Great enviroment, good service, a little slow at times but the attention to detail and friendly nature easily made up for it.

The bar selection, happy hour deals and incredible range of choice and selection for meals make for an excellent dining experience

As for the rooms their decor and structure make for a relaxing and care free living style, perfectly ideal for a relaxing vacation.

Older-styled beautiful eco tourist resort on Fraser Island -Kgari. Just off the mainland of Australia, but worlds away from the rat race. The only down side really was a fairly ordinary breakfast. The staff, tours and accommodation were all good. This place isn t a bells and whistles newby- rather a comfortable and relaxing stay with a wealthy friend.

Very nice resort with a variety of offers. Not particularly, just to mention the only blemish for me, I found the "WiFi policy": Although there is an area where you have free Wi-Fi (in the main building, so there always full, but I was just for Easter weekend there, so perhaps very strong demand), but you want to be in the room online, it costs between $ 5 for an hour and $ 15 for 24 hours (limited amounts of data). Everything else perfect, terrific proximity to the rainforest with its sounds. Unconditional recommendation: the Beauty Spots Tour (eight hours, including Lake McKenzie). Otherwise: rooms, restaurants, pool, beach: everything was fine
