Stopped in for dinner with the wife and boys at the Power Station Pub on our way home from camping at Oxbow. We had a short wait that was made enjoyable with a stroll through the adjacent garden. Dinner was good as was the beer. Glad they have several vegetarian options. It's a special place for my wife and I since it was where we got married. Changed a lot since then but in a good way. Recommended!

I was there for a wine tasting with some friends and everyone working there was so knowledgable and friendly. We stopped for dinner as well and the food came quickly and was well cooked.

My husband, grandsons and I came for the Vance Joy concert a day early. We stayed near by at the Best Western which was within walking distance to the concert. We got to the concert site around 4 and found the end of a longish line. At 4:30 the gates opened and the line moved quickly. We found seats in the middle.
The concessions were well staffed and varied, so getting what you want quickly was fairly easy. Plenty of porta potties, so going to the restroom was quick! We rented chairs for $5 ($20 deposit). This too was fast and easy. After the concert which was 2 1/2 hours long including a 1/2 hour between front band and main act with a finale, but no encore. The place emptied quickly due to a well organized exit plan from the concert site and parking lots.

On another note, we went to lunch the day before the concert at the outside grill. It was extremely slow. It took a 1/2 hour to get our drinks and another 1/2 hour for the food. The food was good though! The next day we tried to get something to eat after golfing, and gave up. Maybe the concert series is taking staff away?

Why did I take so long to know about this place? First time there was on my graduation from college and I had to go back again a few days later with my crew at work. Great place, great customer service, great drinks, and plenty to do there no matter when you go.
I intend to go back again soon.

My friend and I eat lunch at McMenamins Edgefield often. Food and drinks are always good and the servers are friendly. Wine and beer is made on site, they host a lot of events, there is a full service spa, a cute gift shop, and interesting murals galore. Edgefield has a fascinating history.. walk around after lunch.

Don't come here for the food or service. Food is overpriced and service is practically non existent. However, being able to roam the land with a drink in your hand makes for the best day ever! So much to look at and hardly anywhere is off limits.

8ts a great place to hang out with friends with a lot of different options as far as style of bar. Sometimes you can sit at a bar, or you can walk around in the nice summer air, or sit by a fire pit in the fall

The best and coolest place in the entire Portland ...

The best and coolest place in the entire Portland area. As a 37 year native, I say that with no reservations. If you stay in the hotel, you have to go to the hot tub, preferably on a winter night, just amazing. The resaurants are usually very busy which says a lot about this facility and it can be a challenge to get a room. They have a great concert series in the summer that draws huge names to a fairly cozy outdoor venue. Any good things you have heard or read about Edgefield are grossly understated.

We love going to Edgefield. You can hang out all day, do some wine tasting, swim in the soaking pool, attend concerts on the lawn (we loved Robert Plant), collect stamps for your McMenamins passport, roam the gardens, play golf and watch a movie. And of course you can eat, eat, eat! Love McMenamins.

Edgefield is more about the total experience than the individual components. We were in a basement bar playing shuffleboard, eating mediocre food and drinking middling beer but it added up to more than the sum of those parts.

One of my favorite places on planet Earth. A former "poor farm" from 1920s that had been transformed into a hotel / brewery / winery and distillery. They grow all their own hops, grapes and pears / apples for their alcohol. The hotel is full of murals that tell the stories of poor farm residents an the place is just dripping with personality. A must visit.

McMenamins Edgefield a Vintage Adventure

McMenamins Edgefield a Vintage Adventure

It all started out when looking for a place to stay when doing a video of the local ghost town in Bridal Veil. McMenamins Edgefield seemed to be the perfect spot. Why? Well, for one it was fairly close to Bridal Veil and it had a history of its own. Built in 1911 as a poor farm by Multnomah County, the facility went through several transformations and eventually closed in 1982. It then was abandoned, vandalized, and damaged by fire. McMenamins found the property and had a great vision of retreat with Music, food and lodging and purchased it in 1990. In 1991 the newly renovated Power Station theater & Pub opened and the rest is history. Today its a hotel, hostel, restaurant, bar and more, and less, which leads to my review. When I arrived I did my usual thing, I checked in and let the front desk and my first problem arose. The far sighted clerk couldn't find my reservation which was apparently lost. After some work, the clerk found me a room. I settled in took some photos of the grounds.
Eventually the photographic euphoria wore off and I had my own vision of retreating to the pub for some music and food. I arrived at the Power Station and asked the Bar Keep for some food that would distinguish itself in my review. Mind you, price was no object. He came back with Tater Tots. Cajan Tater Tots! He mentioned that they were a signature meal of McMenamins. To be honest, I wasn't impressed. So, I snapped a few photos of the Power Station and went back to my room to order room service. The only problem here is that there isn't any phones in the room and therefore there isn't any room service. The golden arches seemed 4 star at this point. But, I had a review to do. I definitely wanted to go out on the grounds at night and do some ghost hunting for spirits. After all, they seemed to be well known for spirits. So I decided to catch some early sleep so that I was wide awake for my journey later in the evening. I laid down and wanted to start counting sheep, but found I was counting springs in the mattress instead. Also, the room was very cold, after cranking the thermostat I never could get the room warm enough. Well, maybe a movie would help. Of course there isn't any TV, so I broke open my Kindle Fire and planned to watch a movie. But the only furniture to sit on was a small, wood chair that was anything but comfortable. So, instead and decided to go out on a trek to find real food. I found the Black Rabbit Bar and Restaurant, and asked for a menu and found the only real food was a vegetable plate with some sandwich meat. The vintage salami was on the edge and the cheese was too. But it was hard to mess up on the pickled vegetables, as long as they didn't come from the local garden. At this point I too, like McMenamin was having a vision of retreat with Music, food and lodging , but would settle for Propofol, the medication that put Micheal Jackson to sleep! Not to worry! By this time is was 9pm and dark enough outside to video any spirits in the non liquid form. Thank goodness the camera is waterproof, because the rain would have taken it out in the first 5 minutes. After some shooting, it was time to face the music of my cold, dark room and try to get some sleep on that iron laden mattress. The rooms are all named after the interns that were there when they closed it down. Too bad old Scotty wasn't more haunting, that would have made for a more exciting trip. I managed to get a few hours in and woke up, showered in the men's lavatory down the hall. And eventually found warmth in the comfort of my VW Beetle, and food down the road at Micky D's. So, what is my conclusion after this adventure?

1. If you are looking for a bar, this place has several.
2. If you want to see some history of an old poor farm that was renovated from abandonment, this is a good place to visit.
3. But as far as lodging, a car is preferable. Any car.

Such an amazing place! We visited a few years ago and then again last weekend. Coronavirus cut down on activities, but the time we were there before we got to do all the things. So much beautiful nature and so much bountiful food & drink! The winery is cool, and we definitely left with a few bottles!

Maybe this was just a bad day. Love the BlackBerry Cider. Food was great. Our server, however, was new and obviously overwhelmed with a large party to serve. They should not have given him a large party.

This is where I go to have a mini vacation without going far. Very nice location with different bars and different restaurants all within walking distance on location. I've seen the hotel a couple times and had positive experiences each time in the packages they offer are very good. They're open hot tubs in bar is great at night to relax. If this McMenamins ever came up to me and told me I could sell out for them, I totally would.

If you want to find the best garden to see flowers and get samples of wine and actually buy wine if you liked it from the samples this place is for you!they even have a hotel so that you can spend the night there in the hotel. Wines they have their are never a disappointment and are always great tasting, especially the fact how it s freshly made and local because they make them their. The garden is just so amazing and lovely only in the summer time! Although, winter time it s sometimes empty but barely gets packed unless they have an event in the winter time. events includes live music, and wine fest and many more great events for adults and kids.

A+

Went for concert. I don't know what I was expecting, but there needs to be more chairs available for sale near stage, along with accommodating the handicap better with extra seating. When you pay $$$,s you should be able to see the performer

Quirky and fun! Lots to see and do on the grounds. Many great places to eat and drink, and lots of fun specialty cocktails to try. The bar on the way back of the property with the steampunk decor by the 1st hole of the golf course is my favorite!

We ate in the Power Station restaurant and had an excellent meal with the help of a great waitress named Becca. After telling her that I had some heart related dietary restrictions she recommended some healthy meals. She then followed up with the kitchen to make sure that my order was cooked with salt or the regular coating. When it was served without the salmon I asked for she helped get the kitchen to get it made right and then took it off the bill to compensate for the delay. I couldn't have asked for a better waitress or experience. Speaks very highly of the establishment that they have such wonderful employees. I will definitely be back soon!

My favorite McMenamins hands down. Only requires a short drive from the city. Could easily spend the afternoon or day here. Plenty of tucked away bars to check out and spots to snag a burger and beer. Has a labrythn-esque feel to the place. Which is fun to wander through assuming you have the time. Plenty of outdoor spaces to sit and relax as well.

During my may stay at Edgefield I had a great experience. The drinks were delicious, a coconut lemon drop and a rhubarb gin and tonic, the atmosphere was uncompaired! Dimly lit and warm and cozy, perfect for a fall night. Made for a great Saturday night.

One of my most favorite McMenamins sites, this property boasts multiple amenities to appeal to every taste.

You can take your kids to dinner and a movie at the Power Station Theatre and grab a drink from the Pub on your way in to enjoy the exceptionally comfortable seating. You can take a friend for a fancy dinner and drinks at the Black Rabbit Restaurant Bar and Courtyard, and follow with a tour of the on site gardens and vineyards.

Summertime brings Popular Artists for the Edgefield's infamous Concerts on the Lawn, outdoor fires at the Loading Dock Grill, and sitting around at the Distillery Bar & Pub Course Clubhouse.

The site is host to a Winery, a Brewery, and a Distillery, all three of which can be toured for stamps in a McMenamins Passport.

There are little cubbies where you can sit quietly and read, small nooks and crannies for intimate conversations, as well as tiny bars such as the Black Rabbit House, Jerry's Ice House, and the Little Red Shed to stroll through...but wait, there's more.

You can pitch a few golf balls, soak in the Soaking Pool, get treatments at Ruby's Spa, stay a night in the Firehouse of the old Multnomah County Poor Farm, play shuffleboard, pool, or darts at Lucky's Staehley's Pool Hall, and attend weddings, receptions, and family gatherings at the Blackberry Hall.

The art throughout tells the story of former residents, and times of old. In the Main Hotel beautiful artistic embellishments adorn every wall, every border, and nearly every pipe fitting.

Remember to get your Passport at the hotel desk on your way in, and don't forget to stop by the Gift Shop on your way out to pick up a souvenir from your visit...or a gift for that special someone.

This is a visit to remember, and a memory to cherish. I'm sure I'm missing something. There is SOooo much happening here...all the time.

Went to a show. We got there right as the opener was going on stage and what I can say is, if you're planning on setting up chairs and staying seated, you should definitely get there early. It was packed! I didn't care tho, I was in GA the whole night and loved it. The venue is outdoors and really cool, the sound was good too. The drinks are decent, prices are what you'd expect. There's more food variety than most venues in Portland offer, though it's not gourmet by any means. I like going here for shows and I had yet another great night there. Oh, also. Be prepared to wait in a very long line to get out of the parking lot. It took me an hour.

Located off the i84 highway. Mcmenamins edgefield is a great place for visitors to experience a unique aspect of Oregon. My friends and I went here after a hike and ate at the power station. I got the buffalo chicken pizza. Everything went really well except some longer wait times due to a busy time of day. But that's pretty typical for edgefield.
