This place is huge! Very well maintained and organized. I have come here for multiple conventions, and each one seems unique in design because they get to manipulate such a huge space. The food though is super overpriced, your better off eating out at a nice restaurant in the area.

A true behemoth of a Conference Center. Somewhat predictably, they have limited and spendy the food options on-site, but within a short walk off campus you should be able to find some good lunch and dinner options.

Disappointing show for Chicago,

Disappointing show for Chicago,
I was expecting to see the cars that Is not on the street everyday. They literally brought ordinary car models. There is no Mercedes or bmw cars in the showroom and also the way they organized the place was awful. Most of the cars were locked especially mustangs.
I guess only jeep made it out really well with the stands and interactive tour for the people.

Saw the auto show here and have to say the location is massive! They have a lot of show-room / floor space for events. The location is easily accessible and has direct access via trains which run through it (can only confirm Metra). Note prices for vendors / consumables are artificially high.

It s hard to review the establishment without reviewing the shows going on inside it, but here goes: the bathrooms are clean, the food is okay, and the space is huge. WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES if you can; there s a LOT of walking involved in here.

I was here for the Chicago Auto Show and really liked the convention center. It's in good shape and has a lot of space. The price for parking was ridiculous though at $35. I'm not sure if it is always that much or if that is isolated to the Auto Show.

Parking was super confusing. I had to pull into McDonalds and figure out where I was going. After that, everything was fine until I tried paying for parking and it stole my credit card. But the lady who worked there helped me get it back quickly.

There was plenty of parking. There is an enclose bridge that takes you from the parking lot to the north building. I made my visit after 6:00pm on a Saturday and the price for parking only set me back $10.00 so that was a bonus. The staff that I had to deal with were nice and helpful. I went for the auto show and I enjoyed my time there. The cars were kept clean and there were plenty of restrooms

Nice building workers were very helpful and nice. Just way to much walking from one end to the other for badges and exit. After working a booth all day the last thing I wanted to do is all the walking before and after a 12 hour day and have to get up the next day and do it again

I have been attending the National Restaurant Association Show for about the past 5 years. It is easy to get around, even with large shows like this. To get there I either take the South Shore Line from downtown or the CTA to Chinatown and then just walk.

I was delivering a large group of people arriving for a conference in a motorcoach, in cold, blowing rain.

The taxis, Uber and Lyft vehicles were as rude as expected, but the arrival drive loop traffic people were doing an exemplary job, in stressful traffic, in terrible conditions. They made my group feel very welcome to provide the best experience possible!

Beautiful (and big) place for business encounters. Great installations. Unfortunately the Wi-Fi didn't work, so I had to stay there and wait for my father for a long time while he was in the AAOS meeting.

About McCormick Place Rooftop Garden

McCormick Place Rooftop Garden: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Chicago

McCormick Place is a name that resonates with anyone who has ever attended a convention or trade show in Chicago. As the largest and most flexible use convention center in North America, McCormick Place has hosted countless events over the years, from political conventions to auto shows to medical conferences. But what many people don't know is that McCormick Place is also home to one of the city's best-kept secrets: a stunning rooftop garden that offers visitors a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

The McCormick Place Rooftop Garden was created as part of an ambitious sustainability initiative launched by the convention center in 2007. The goal was to transform McCormick Place into a model for sustainable urban development, and one of the key components of this effort was the creation of an expansive green roof on top of one of its buildings.

Today, the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden covers more than 2.5 acres and features over 20,000 plants representing more than 100 species native to Illinois. The garden is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own unique character and purpose.

One section features raised beds filled with vegetables and herbs that are used by chefs at McCormick Place's restaurants. Another area showcases native prairie grasses and wildflowers, providing habitat for birds and insects while also helping to manage stormwater runoff.

Visitors can stroll along winding paths through lush gardens filled with colorful blooms or relax on benches overlooking Lake Michigan while taking in stunning views of downtown Chicago's skyline. Interpretive signs throughout the garden provide information about sustainable landscaping practices as well as details about specific plant species.

But perhaps what makes the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden truly special is its role as a living laboratory for sustainable design practices. The garden serves as a testing ground for new technologies such as green roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavement systems, and other innovative approaches to managing stormwater runoff.

In addition to providing an oasis for visitors seeking respite from city life, this green roof also helps reduce energy consumption within McCormick place by insulating against heat loss during winter months while reducing cooling costs during summer months through evapotranspiration processes which cools down surrounding air temperatures naturally without using any energy-intensive equipment like air conditioners or fans.

The rooftop garden has received numerous awards since it opened in 2008 including recognition from Green Roofs For Healthy Cities (GRHC) which named it "Green Roof Project Of The Year" award winner at their annual conference held in Boston back then; it has been featured on national television programs such as PBS' "Growing A Greener World" series; it even made headlines when former President Barack Obama visited during his time at office!

In conclusion,

The McCormick place rooftop garden stands out not only because it provides visitors with breathtaking views but also because it serves as an example for how cities can incorporate sustainable design practices into their infrastructure projects without sacrificing aesthetics or functionality.
It’s no wonder why this hidden gem continues attracting tourists worldwide who want nothing but peace amidst nature’s beauty!
