The check in was long and confusing. There were lots of extra charges that seemed to pop up for no reason. I did have some issues, but Alfredo was able to help me resolve them. He was professional and courteous. He saved my vacation and is a great manager.

The place is kept clean but you can tell it's the oldest of all the buildings. The celling fan was very dusty but that was it. It would be nice for it to get some upgrades but I'd go back even if it doesn't. The staff everywhere are great!

It is a place with bad beach .. Excellent pools but the transfer from one sector to another is very slow .. And it does not have a supermarket which forces you to eat in its restaurants or go out to Playa del Carmen to 18km..and more ..

It is a family favorite. We love going here. We hope to own a timeshare here on day. Incredible service at a descent price. Well worth the trip and location. Fun for the whole family.

Overall my experience this week to my first time in Mexico was decent.
There are PROS and there are CONS

PROS: The room is very spacious, Big Pool but a bit salty,
Housekeeping did its job, The staff are genuine and greet you every morning, When you come from WAL-MART the staff brings your groceries to your room and also the bell boy brings your luggage, decent selections of restarants, Nice architecture and landscape.

This place has indigenous lizards on the sides of the wooden pathways which I think its cool. The place is 15 min between Cancun and Playa del Carmen

CONS: You need a shuttle to get to the pool, Its a pain trying to leave the resort where you have to take a shuttle to central lobby then pay $35 for a taxi plus tips, They were 4 spiders in our room so we had to switch rooms, over priced food, the balcony is small, Can be a bit more modern, The timeshare guy said that the presentation would be 1-3 hours but turned out to be 12 hours which eat up our second day, the wi-fi is terrible and not secured.

I given this place a 3 out 5 for a decent first time in Mexico and I might stay at a different Vidanta location next time

Do you want every thing you do to take forever and be super inconvenient and far away? Maybe a company retreat does, but unless you're investing $48000 on a timeshare, you won't be welcome back, and by the end, you and your family won't care to come back anyways. That being said, I had amazing food and all the staff was super helpful, nice and did their jobs really well. I wish I could give them 5 stars but the whole resort as a whole is what needs to get their stars knocked down a bit.

This place is huge! U travel around via trolley or walking trails. U have to give yourself time to get around. Most of the staff is really nice and friendly. However we had a problem with one of the trolley drivers named Daniel, he was really rude and wouldn't stop at our drop off. Don't do the presentation where they try to sell you with free offers and breakfast. After we had breakfast with DeJesus he said that we should leave the waiter a tip even though he ate too. Not very gentlemen like. We didnt see anyone leave a tip that was there having the free breakfast. Beware, they offer you many discounts upon your checkout and then we had a problem trying to get them applied. As per their info channel there is plenty to do however you have a hard time finding out where to go in order to partake in them. We were advised to check with the concierge. She showed us a book which provided a time and activity but no mention of location. We stumbled into some of the events. Would have been nice to get there when the show started. This was our first visit to this resort. I would like to see them give some time to their guests getting us informed as to the best way to get around as well as what their daily events are and where they are located. I would go back there again because I believe there was much more to do and see. The place is kept very clean and the food was good too.

Pros: decent prices at deli for food and some essentials, nice pools, large rooms, nice staff, happy hour from 12-2 at pool bars, OK Private beach.
Cons: timeshare place, $75 USD resort fee for wifi and gym access, automatically added 10% gratuity to all purchases made at any of their bars, restaurants, spa etc... only allow their own tour companies to enter the property pick you up at your lobby, but they did allow them to drop us off after the tour or excursion. options are they have a 12 to 24 person cart marked with a blue flag that buses you to the main entrance that runs every 40 min from 8a-11a then 6p-11p. Or, you can take the yellow flag cart that drops you off at the last stop and you have about a 5 min walk to the main gate, or you can take a taxi (usually have a few parked just outside the Mayan Palace lobby) to the main gate for 50 pesos per cab. Wifi is slower than dial up, some restaurants require reservations.

It's like being in a big city, you have to stand in line for public transport, which takes time to arrive. Very large and many people. It takes a half hour to go to the beach or go out with the car. You have to pay the valet parking because they park the car on a giant beach and they will leave and look for you. I hate big cities, I do not go back to this hotel or similar

If you look at photos of the rooms, grounds, and pools of Mayan Palace online, you will be shown photos from the assortment of resorts located on the property. Only after reviewing the Vidanta website did I actually see what kind of room I would be getting. You will not see Vidanta when you are looking at the individual resorts, you must make sure if it is on the Vidanta property or not. Depending on which of the resorts you are staying at, you may be denied entry to certain pools, restaurants and cabanas.
My family, and I visited Vidanta, in early April 2018. From the airport, we were dropped off at the parking, taxi lobby. We stayed at the Mayan Palace in building 18. Which was MILES from anything. There does not appear to be a room with a view of the ocean in the entire resort.
After being dropped off at the central lobby, our bags were taken, and we did not see them again until after we got to the room. I did not like this. I do not know who may have been doing what to my bags between check-in and the room. We had to take a tram from the central lobby, to the Mayan Palace lobby. After nearly an hour to check in, and a million people in the steaming hot lobby we were immediately left to find another tram or shuttle which would take us to our building. Most of the trams from the lobby are actually somewhat frequent. Most other tram stops will leave you waiting longer, especially when they are busy. Many trams are full, and if they have room for one person they will stop and tease all others waiting.
From the airport to our room took about 3 to 3 and a half hours, and the drive is only 30 minutes.
The following days we spent doing more walking then enjoying anything. From building 18 to the pool was at least a 15 minute walk. There were miles of maintained wooden pathways around everything. But you can easily get turned around and end up miles from where you want to be. If you wanted to waste quite a bit of time on you vacation, which I DID NOT, you can wait for the trams. E You must get on a tram in one place, ride it to another, and catch a second to get to your final destination.
We walked mostly, which helped us too see the sights. The grounds were ABSOLUTELY beautiful. The abundant amount of walking left us nearly exhausted at the end of every day. It is almost impossible to find a chair anywhere near the shade after 8am. The beach is too shallow and rocky to swim, and or snorkel unless you are willing to venture almost all the way out to the break wall. Unless you wear water shoes you are unable to get almost anywhere in the water. There is a sandy beach, about a 20 minute walk north, but you walk through at least 4 signs that says restricted to blah, blah, blah hotel residents only. I do not know if we were even allowed to swim at the beach we found, but it was the only sandy beach we were able to encounter.
If you visit Vidanta, and take the 20 minute walk down to the sandy beach, BRING BREAD!!!!!!! When we arrived the second time, there was a women in the water feeding bead to a giant school of fish.
There were only 4 or so restaurants that were close enough to get to without taking multiple trams. The majority of this food, was also exactly the same. Room service took no less than an hour, even for only a bottle of water and a few cokes. When the food did finally arrive it was cold and soggy.
If you wish to drink at night and enjoy the night, you have to start early. One of the pool bars closes around 8pm, and the other at 10. They look at you funny if you ask for shots, however the drinks were good. After a few long islands, I was finally able to the miles I was required to walk back to my building.
Even though I do not speak the native language, the staff is more than accommodating. THE TRAM DRIVERS ARE NOT HELPFUL. They will not do anything to get you to where you are going, even if they are leaving with an empty tram. The one thing I will more than praise is the helpfulness of almost every staff member, except the tram operators.

After a 16 hour flight the shuttle was 2.75 hours ...

After a 16 hour flight the shuttle was 2.75 hours late... we called the resort... we called the contact number... we called the emergency number... hotel was no help they told us to call the other 2 numbers... there was no answer and mailbox was full.... we get checked in and they have carts that take you to the different motels... they said if you want a 2 for 1 breakfast you have 45 min to get there but you have to get this card... we dropped off our luggage ran and got the card... ran through the resort to get the 2 for 1 breakfast... we get there the restaurant is empty... we see they start lunch in 15 min we just figured they closed down to clean breakfast... 25 min later after standing in an open door we walk in and are told that restaurant is closed on that day of the week. So now we don't get buy 1 get 1 free and we passed a bunch of restaurants running there... our refrigerator was broke we called the next day because we didn't have anything to put in there. They didn't tell us what was going on so we called they said that is have to talk to the dayshift... next day we were gone all day... no fridge... next day after a long day we got a new fridge... they tell you it isn't a time share and promise free breakfast and great deals on tours and discounts and freebies in the restaurant... what they don't tell you is those discounts aren't retro active they start up after your presentation... the presentation was nice the 1st guy was nice... but 2 hours later and 4 sales pitches later we finally said no you broke your promise we want to leave... ok now to the discounts once active they do add up... but the free stuff on the tours you don't have to go to the presentation (not time share) but in fact it is a type if time share... all coupons are not necessary for tours... we all got the free stuff and was told only 1 in the party... food decent to good.. rooms nice... most staff fun and friendly most spoke english... when we complained it was like talking to a brick wall... no help no compensation... just I'm sorry... my biggest pet peeve was they said in had to do the presentation because they were letting me stay for next to nothing... also there is a big hierarchy... if you stay in the cheapest motel you have access to only 1 pool and most restaurants... if you stay in the most expensive motel you have access to all pools and all restaurants... also call and make reservations for dinner if not you are stuck with room service or their cafe's... they left a 1.5 liter bottle of water in the room if you drank it... it was $22 buy a gallon in their little store it was $5... I also had to sign a waiver agreeing that since I didn't purchase their rooms I was not allowed to come back! I loved my 7 nights 8 days there and want to go back but I don't think I'll stay at a Vidanta resort... the first time share offer was $550 US dollars per month... next one was $450 and they were sold out of that one so we had to sit through the explanation AGAIN when we started on the 3rd offer after a firm No Thank You over and over and over and us getting irritated because I have a military travel club and don't need it and told them that no less than 80 times. The resort is absolutely beautiful but the guest services suck...

Too big to get anything better than three stars. Leaving your room for anything requires a 20 minute walk or golf cart ride. The resort is pretty, but it s impossible to find a pool chair or beach chair as people throw a towel down on them early in the day and then leave them empty. Overall it s too big and for that reason does not stand up next to many other beach hotels I ve stayed at in Mexico.

Long wait to catch a trolly that will take you from your room to the car or pool. Your other option is walking for a good 15+ minutes. Our room was one of the farthest out. The only thing that earned this place a 2 star is the pool.
