The Maya Ubud is just amazing in every sense of the word!!
To all honeymooners: Please read carefully! We went here for our honeymoon and it was a complete disappointment. The resort is a maximum of two stars.
1. The complex is nicely located, but unfortunately the houses, furniture and rooms are not very well maintained.
2. We had a pool villa and paid a lot accordingly. The "villa" was a maximum of 20 square meters and the "pool" was no bigger than a paddling pool. You definitely can't swim in it, only stand. In addition, there is only one outlet for charging, limited free drinking water and the staff does absolutely nothing against the animals in the room. Every evening we had to remove the animals' excrement from the ground ourselves. The room was totally damp, the bed was damp and the room smelled of the urine of the animals.
3. The bathroom was absolutely inconvenient. There was an edge filled with stones where you bump your feet. The sink table was way too low, uneven and full of holes so that you couldn't put anything down properly. There was mold in the corners of the bathtub.
4. From a real 5 star resort I expect: sockets next to the bed, unlimited free drinking water and also brings drinking water to the pool free of charge, provides free anti-mosquito spray and smokes the room every evening. We experienced the same in the other 5 star resorts in Indonesia.
5. At each of the other 6 hotels during our honeymoon, we received small attentions and great warmth due to our honeymoon. Here at Maya Ubud, the resort doesn't know its guests by name, you're just a room number. And every evening you get the happy hour for the bar or special deals for the spa. The employees push you to spend even more money.
6. The prices of the spa and the restaurant are absolutely outrageous and overpriced. The food is bad and definitely not worth five stars. The breakfast buffet tastes like canteen food. If you walk 15 minutes you can get better food, at fair prices and better massages at normal prices. 21% service and tax are added to all prices in the resort. So that a very small pizza Margherita costs 11 (not Italian level) and a one-hour massage 80 ! The Indonesian dishes are three times as expensive as in other resorts. You feel totally ripped off.
7. All in all, it was a disappointing honeymoon experience.
Amazing place. Very good, long and comfortable there. The staff are very friendly and don't hesitate to ask for help. Picnic lunch is super fun on the riverbank. Beautiful pool. Good food.
The spa is excellent! The location is like a valley full of greenery, doing spa surrounded by sound of river, birds, little buds. This is relax n healing.
Spent one week at Maya and enjoyed the relaxing environment. We recommend highly staying at Maya...
Cool resort, clean buildings and well maintained environment. The environment is extraordinary if you like forests and rivers, this is a very right staycation choice.
Friendly, alert and polite service.
I stayed for 29 Dec 2020 to 1 Jan 2021, very impressed with this place. Very very unapologetic, and will definitely be back on another vacation time in Ubud. It deserves 5 stars!
Impressive hotel in the middle of the jungle. Nice rooms and nice area.
It is a nice hotel to stay calm and calm.
It was not luxurious, but it was comfortable in a nice room.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay! Loved every second here and wish I could've stayed longer! Spa is pricey but we'll worth it!
Ive stayed 4 night there.when u arrive u are very welcome.when u leave like they throw you out.no help on laugage nothing..for 5 star hotel itsshame...
We had a very warm welcome at the Maya Ubud. The room service is friendly and always helpful. It was also possible to get a lunchbox if you have a day trip planned. Since the hotel is located - at least it feels that way- in the middle of the forest it was an outstanding experience.
Lovely hotel! Clean, neat, big rooms, friendly staff. Amazing spa! Highly recommended!
Overall amazing experience. The staff went above and beyond for us during our stay. They offer free shuttle bus to and from the ubud Center which was very helpful! We came on our honeymoon and they gave lots of little perks which we enjoyed.
The vegan lunch as a part of a yoga, massage and spa combo has always been great. We take the time to head to Maya for a visit any time we're in Bali.
Great location. Well maintained. Excellent service.
Because the staff are too stuck up, just wanted to eat at the restaurant and wouldnt allow
An amazing resort in the heart of the cultural capital of Bali. The resort is huge and has villas with private pool. Great place for a spa therapy overlooking the river. The food is also good. The resort has many activities to keep its guests occupied.
Can't say enough good things about this place, Just awesome!!!
Peaceful atmosphere, heing calm
Nature
Incredibly beautiful hotel that leaves nothing to be desired.
The arrival was late in the evening and we were greeted very friendly. We even got an upgrade for the room, with a view of the garden and the rice terrace.
The garden and the entire area is very well-kept, clean and beautiful!
The two pools overlooking and in the jungle are unique!
The entire site is located on a huge area of which only a small part is built on. Lovely!
The breakfast offers a rich and tasty buffet.
But the food by the pool or dinner are also delicious!
At the time we were there, the resort was not overcrowded and you could really enjoy the peace and quiet.
The resort is very well located for excursions in the area and to visit various sights!
Comfortable 4 star hotel, nice view, spacious location
I like the villas, location, and views. Location is very near the centre of Ubud, with the villas overlooking a river valley, each with a small pool, but not large enough for a proper swim. There are two infinity pools. One lips over a cliff facing the river valley. Another one is further down closer to the river itself, facing a bend in the river. Spa rooms are located at the edge of the resort, almost right at the river bend. There is a gym and tennis court. There is also a nature walk through the woods below the villas. Breakfast is awful. Very limited choices and tastes blahh... Skip the breakfast and go into Ubud for better choices.
You will feel relaxed and pampered staying here because the resort's atmosphere is magical& serene, staff attentive& professional. Loved the soothing sound of river flowing through rocks whilst we were at one of their pool bar/ restaurants. Feeling rejuvenated, will be back
Great resort for our wedding anniversary..like it soo much
We stayed here (unfortunately only) 5 nights of our Bali vacation and loved it. Great hotel, earned a 4 star rating, beautiful grounds, delicious food ..
The rooms are a bit old, the prices are European standard.
We felt comfortable from the start. The complex is large and everything is there that you need: restaurants, pools, a great spa area, fitness studio and numerous excursion possibilities. A hotel shuttle runs every hour free of charge to Ubud and back. We didn't do that much because we'd rather enjoyed our time in the hotel. Are only further because Ubud is not near the beach. Again any time.
A 5 * which achieves its objective:
Approaching perfection
I have been training here i would like to say this hotel was amazing. You will see friendly staff there. So delicious food and every night that will be a diferent food for dinner. Very wonderfull place. And also they have a spa beside the petanu river and that was wonderful
Top hotel in the middle of the jungle. Very nice facility
Stayed here for my birthday weekend. And seriously, It's 10000x more beautiful in real life, something pictures cannot do.. Like the scenery the vibe the fresh air. I didn't expect much I thought it would be kind of similar with the other Maya in Sanur which is already good enough, but NO this is so much more worth it! It's a whole different world once you enter the property. Spacious, quiet and private in the middle of beautiful nature making you feel like you own the whole place to yourself. Everything you see is breathetaking. (No I'm not exaggerating).
The staffs are also very attentive and caring, they always make sure of our comfort. They also sent me a surprise cake to our villa too, which we ordered again the next day cause it was Y U M M Y. Overall, thank you Maya!
Just to visit this hotel and walk around the area I already feel refresh and rejuvinate. Nicely done resort
Nice resort, very well maintained , nice staff and one of the best classic ubud resort all time. There are many new resort but Maya Ubud definitely still a game player. I recommend this resort. Please keep up the standard and good work
What an amazing place!! You have to stay here, the people are really friendly and welcoming! Love it so much. We stayed in one of the villas which had its own private pool and garden which had such beautiful views overlooking a forest and river below. There is a massive bath and a shower inside and if you are feeling adventurous then there is also a shower outside
What a huge disappointment! Once upon a time was built in a fantastic location a nice hotel. But now only the location has remained! The rooms are old and dirty, there is no attention for hygiene. We had a villa with swimming pool full of anything, because nobody ever cleaned it! The restaurants have no clue what good food means, nevertheless good chefs.
I can't even spare the Spa, the girls are not professional and not trained well. They don't respect the high standards of the balinese massage, that a resort like Maya should have.
The staff is distracted and not attentive to the guests. It seems like they don't care because by now everyone knows the Maya resort and go there.
In my opinion it's overrated, dirty and old
I stayed for 3 days 2 nights at Maya Ubud Resort & Spa. One of the 5 stars resort in Ubud.
When I first entered Maya Ubud, I was very impressed by the ambience and friendliness of the staff. We are very aware that in this pandemic situation some aminities will decrease, and if we want something, enough requests will be delivered what we want.
At the beginning of the stay, we requested a yukata from the FO by telephone. Because we checked in the wardrobe there wasn't. The FO asked for time to inquire with related parties, and contacted us again by informing us if the current pandemic situation Maya Ubud did not provide. For me if that is the SOP of the resort it is not a problem for me.
But on my last day at Maya Ubud, I saw 2 guests using a yukata heading to the pool. There I was shocked and quite disappointed with the treatment of the staff there. Is it because I am a native Balinese guest that what we asked for was not given and outside guests got what I asked for in advance? Supposedly, if the rules are enforced for in-house guests, there should be no differences or all are treated the same.
As a 5 star resort in Ubud, product knowledge must be really understood, don't just tell us there is a miss communication.
As a front liner or front guard must be clear and informative when explaining all information to guests who will stay there.
My husband and I have spent our honeymoon in this amazing hotel. I loved it! The bungalows have a private garden including a swimming pool. And we had fresh flowers every day in our room. The swimming pools of this hotel are great and offer wonderful views. The staff is committed and very friendly. There's a free shuttle service like any other hotel, which takes you to the centre of Ubud.
If you can afford it, go for it. Very peaceful n private
Dream hotel, great food, fantastic hotel area and spa, very nice and courteous staff, great breakfast buffet with nothing missing, great and very clean rooms, great bed We did not want to leave and look forward to a next time
The most beautiful resort you can find for yourself or with your lover in the lap of nature
The best, the pools and the surroundings. Everything in the hotel fantastic.
The most fabulous dumbfounding place I have ever been to !!! Wow
Great place except that the river as mentioned is visible only from the river side cafe.
Second stay. The hotel's environment is elegant and comfortable, and the new Villa room facilities are satisfying. The service staff is kind and has a city shuttle bus.
Around a one hour drive from airport, and is within comfortable walking distance of the centre of Ubud township. This elegant resort and spa is set in a quiet mountanious area, high above two river valleys and surrounded by rice fields. The spa is something special as well, don't forget to try Maya Sari, Signature restaurant with indoor dining and alfresco service on the terrace.
Quiet, not new, not old, just right.
I think the price is also worthwhile.
In Bali, one restaurant is enough.
We stay every year from the opening year, but it does not change, and after all, the high repetition rate is telling.
Good ... quite a quiet place for a family vacation, only staff service needs to be improved again
A place to away from routine, really calm and quite. We stayed in their villa with private pool but there are so many reason to visit their public pool with jungle view. 5/5
A very nice property away from the noise of Ubud but still close enough to walk into town. However, a free shuttle bus is also provided.
The food is plentiful and should suit every taste.
There is a very nice spa area with a pool, from which you can see directly into a river below and with a little luck you can even watch a fish or a lizard.
In a separate building in the upper area, yoga fans get their money's worth daily under professional guidance, while in the lower area of the building, fitness can be tested on modern equipment and the pulse can be raised. At the back of the building is a tennis facility that would like to be used in tropical temperatures.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful, you really feel welcome here!
If you are lucky with the room, the view and around it absolutely 5 stars
We were unlucky at first and had to move twice (and sleep once) until we got a room without a noisy tennis court or pump nearby (room row 700).
Only when we got a room in the 600 series (room 607) was it absolutely perfect.
The food (breakfast) was unfortunately below average and unfortunately did not justify the price of the night. In the evening, if we weren't out, we booked the evening buffet. In the end we were always around 50-60 for 2 people (without alcohol). For the price we only got a mediocre 4 star resort food.
Staff and concierge were very positive, trustworthy and always able to help.
Conclusion:
Staff top
Room with a view Fantastic
Food (coffee too) rather flop
Cold drinks top
Three stars just for eating and because we had to fight for two days before we got a view that justifies the price
Maya as the word says its full of luxury and serene beauty....best place for a luxury resort in Bali...
100% would recommend the spa and dinner here. I originally came here just to get a flower bath by the river. I was actually having such a terrible day before I got there, while I was dealing with some personal things on my mind. When I arrived, Rini, the Spa manager, was an absolutely darling and just went over and above to have great customer service and also be a compassionate human being. She ended up helping me pick a full service package instead (deal of the week) with a massage, body scrub, and the flower bath. Her and her staff took extra good care of me and I couldn't be more grateful. At the end of the treatment, I was so relaxed and felt amazing. I didn't want to leave, so I ended up staying to eat at the restaurant upstairs where there was a Sunday Italian buffet, which was another dream. The staff here were extra friendly as well and there was also live music, where the musician actually dedicated the James' Blunt song, "You are beautiful" to me. What an absolute delight! I've sent this recommendation to 2 of my other friends who are visiting Ubud in October. It was incredible! Thanks Rini and the Maya Ubud staff! <3
Fantastic set up and pools, great service all the way, ideal to disappear and relax.
Very beautiful place in Ubud although surrounded by the crowd and the place is easily reached by any vehicle because it is located in the city center
just good for beginners and families
As there aren't many "normal hotels for Japanese people" in Ubud, there may be a habit of staying there, but this is easy to use as there is a "hotel ridge" instead of a villa. If you are not good at geckos and insects, the villas are a bit of a place, but this is not a good hotel. Moreover, since there is a good feeling of Ubud, it is also a good memory.
A wonderfull Resort , excellent loction to relax or honeymoon.
Premium service and verygood quality
It was large, clean, quiet, clean and awesome. No complaints. And for some reason it wasn't so crowded. If you live in Indonesia, the KITAS discount is a great deal. There are also plenty of optional activities.
There are areas where children cannot enter to keep some tranquility. Unfortunately the pool there is the best view point. Please be careful with children.
Conditioning was great. All very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there were construction works in the Nachbervilla. Ordered a special request, get confirmed and paid in advance and then forget :-(
SPA was awesome.
Good natural location, international hotels, villas / motels
The grounds are beautiful and the staff is friendly.
Great place is really a paradise. Close to the center but not in the middle of it. You fully unwind.
A lovely, secluded 5-star-hotel in the midst of a jungle! This was our first, one-week stop during our honeymoon on Bali, and we had a great time to relax after the stress of the wedding! As honeymooners, we got a flower petal bath and a dinner with sparkling wine as presents from the hotel. Every evening a different event was planned for dinner. The afternoon tea, which is in the price of the stay, was fantastic - delicious, freshly prepared pastries and tea, served every day on the terrace overlooking the jungle. Interestingly, we prepared for a moskito nightmare, but we had literally two moskito bites after this week - although we spent most of the time outside! Amazing! The pools were clean and most of the time we could find free sunbeds there. As a present we also received a free Balinese massage in their fantastic spa at a river, which was great. One can also take aa awesome nature walk through the jungle, at a river, with a waterfall and tiny hidden temples - still on the hotel grounds, but in a huge area, where you meet very few people - after an hour or so of Indiana Jones style walk you climb up the hill and see the haven: the Spa and Poolbar of the Maya :). Not far away from the hotel (5 min by taxi, which are very cheap on Bali) the village of Ubud is placed, with hundreds of shops and fine places to eat. From the Maya one can take fantastic day trips to the more northern, mountain areas. All was great! The only thing I can complain about: we had a pool villa, which had a Balinese style tall roof. I had nothing against that until one day of our stay a huge (60 cm) lizard FELL OFF the ceiling and dropped just next to my husband, in the middle of the room! Which means it had to be there the whole time as we were very careful to keep our door closed. We both rather like lizards so it was not too bad, but the ceiling is unfortunately very tall and many animals can hide there, especially if the guests leave the door open in the evening - which leads directly into the jungle garden (where nature dwells :)). Since then I was afraid to get out of bed in the middle of the night as I am afraid of spiders...the door to the poolvilla is not tight at the edges, so big (ca. 2 cm) holes can let moskitos and other animals in. The air conditioning in the pool villa was VERY strong and it was very cold in the room when it was on - one could not regulate it and it blew lunges of cold air onto us...otherwise all was great!
Trial stay for another 2 night it's to short for enjoyed lot of facility, start from the room was very nice and clean, shuttle service, food was excellent, breakfast was very variety, private swimming pool and public swimming pool was nice, quite atmosphere at night . and one more thing, the staff was very friendly to guest although if you are local people
