To all honeymooners: Please read carefully! We went here for our honeymoon and it was a complete disappointment. The resort is a maximum of two stars.
1. The complex is nicely located, but unfortunately the houses, furniture and rooms are not very well maintained.
2. We had a pool villa and paid a lot accordingly. The "villa" was a maximum of 20 square meters and the "pool" was no bigger than a paddling pool. You definitely can't swim in it, only stand. In addition, there is only one outlet for charging, limited free drinking water and the staff does absolutely nothing against the animals in the room. Every evening we had to remove the animals' excrement from the ground ourselves. The room was totally damp, the bed was damp and the room smelled of the urine of the animals.
3. The bathroom was absolutely inconvenient. There was an edge filled with stones where you bump your feet. The sink table was way too low, uneven and full of holes so that you couldn't put anything down properly. There was mold in the corners of the bathtub.
4. From a real 5 star resort I expect: sockets next to the bed, unlimited free drinking water and also brings drinking water to the pool free of charge, provides free anti-mosquito spray and smokes the room every evening. We experienced the same in the other 5 star resorts in Indonesia.
5. At each of the other 6 hotels during our honeymoon, we received small attentions and great warmth due to our honeymoon. Here at Maya Ubud, the resort doesn't know its guests by name, you're just a room number. And every evening you get the happy hour for the bar or special deals for the spa. The employees push you to spend even more money.
6. The prices of the spa and the restaurant are absolutely outrageous and overpriced. The food is bad and definitely not worth five stars. The breakfast buffet tastes like canteen food. If you walk 15 minutes you can get better food, at fair prices and better massages at normal prices. 21% service and tax are added to all prices in the resort. So that a very small pizza Margherita costs 11 (not Italian level) and a one-hour massage 80 ! The Indonesian dishes are three times as expensive as in other resorts. You feel totally ripped off.
7. All in all, it was a disappointing honeymoon experience.
