Good food, nice atmosphere with bar and friendly staff.

Hot spot for happy hour. get there early or stand there all night

Went there for my grandmother's birthday party. We had the upstairs room reserved. Food and service was excellent.

Great service crab cake was delicious string beans cooked to perfection their salad dressing was vantastic best flavor. All decked out for xmas.

This was my third time back and the specials were very good. Service was adequate and friendly. The dessert tray was wonderful!

The food is excellent and menu prices are quite reasonable. The atmosphere is lively during happy hours but they also have a quieter seating area.

I had a pretty nice experience. The service was good and it is a nice setting. The food (I had the tender roast meal) was not mind-blowing, but overall good.

Nice atmosphere. Friendly and prompt service. Food was just so so. I got one of the specials..."grown up grilled cheese", they accommodated my change request from Swiss to cheddar which I appreciated. But the bacon was burned. Others in my party enjoyed what they got. Healthy wine pours so that's good! It's local so I'll go again.

Went here for a dinner banquet. Food was good. Mashed potatoes were amazing.

$$$ Somewhat expensive. Great menu. Everything I've ever had here was scrumptious! They have two bars with booths and tables. There are quite a few rooms for private parties. A popular place to hold celebrations.

The best thing was the mashed potatoes & I wondered if they were instant. I think its over priced & over rated! I'll never go back! You get better food & service from McDonald's, Taco Bell & KFC! ~ My girlfriend likes it & we've stopped two other times. It was an improvement & we had Angela who was really nice & super sweet. I'd give it 5 stars just because of her but the prices / portions / quality of food still isn't what everyone says it is. I could go to multiple other places, pay less & have much better food. It only deserves one star.

I've only been here for happy hour. There is a lot of space at the bar, and you don't need to shout to be heard.

Nice atmosphere. Food was good..not great.. but better then normal bar food. If you are looking for a great crab cake.. don't order theirs. It was good but not great. Crab dip though was awesome. Rueban was good too. Burgers looked great. Tuna was plentiful.

This is hand-down my favorite place in the Catonsville/Ellicott City area. The food is awesome, and it always comes out quickly even when they are busy (I usually go there right after the gym or work and I'm always starving!!) Their menu has something for everyone--I've eaten there with my friends, parents, grandparents, and nieces who are 9 and 13, and everyone has always loved their meal. The prices are super reasonable, and I often go there just for the convenience of not having to cook dinner because it is not terribly expensive at all. I'm "that girl" who usually asks for a dish to be modified in some way, and they are always super accommodating and friendly about it. The atmosphere is also perfect! It is just perfect. It is very classy, enough to set the mood for very nice dinner, but also approachable enough that you can be like me and come right after the gym (in reasonably decent clothes though!)! There are usually seasonal decorations up, which is so cute, it just shows attention to detail in my opinion. I have eaten at a lot (it might even be every one!) of the places in Ellicott City/Catonsville as I live in Old Ellicott City and work a lot--don't like to cook a lot :-)...on Route 40, on Main street Old Ellicott, in historic Catonsville/on Frederick road, etc. and Matthews is far and away my favorite and consistent choice. I highly recommend it, it is the best all-around place in the Ellicott City/Catonsville area.

Always love Matthew's! The only con I've encountered is asking to change a dish. If I ask for no mushrooms, don't put that on my plate bruh... lol

Service was good, the food was AMAZING. Was given a $50 gift card as a present and was our first time going and I will go back soon! for 2 entrees and an appetizer ran about $52 but was well worth it! The crab dip has lots of crab meat in it so it was good! It's my new favorite date night spot. The atmosphere was lovely and the waitress was super nice. Can't wait to go back! The chicken alfredo was so good

We picked up 4 dishes. All of which were delicious. The Mahi mahi was phenomenal. Perfect in every way.

Our favorite hometown restaurant ... great food and value!

I have been here a few times. The food is okay. Today I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad. It wasn't really a typical Asian salad. Like it had tomatoes in it and red onion which I have never had in an Asian salad...and never want again. And usually it would have either sesame seeds or sliced almonds. This salad had neither. So, just like with most of the things I have eaten here, it wasn't the worst but nothing really spectacular either. I like the atmosphere, the servers are friendly, and our food came out quickly, but the food is just average. I could have made a better salad at home...and way cheaper.

The burger, fries and lemon mousse cake were DELICIOUS!

The restaurant was once a great place to eat, however, more recently it has gone down hill. We sat there for 20 mins without food and ended up leaving. So sad to see such a great place go downhill.

Always a great meal with great service. I always get the chicken St. Michael and it's delicious and huge! We've been to a few different private parties here and they do a good job with that as well!!!

The food and the service was great. BUT I'm really dissatisfied with the way the manager handled the situation. We had a party of over 15 people, we ordered over $700 worth of food and one person suggested that they didn't like their food because it was way too much vinegar in it so he placed a order for another meal. 5 mins later the supervisor comes over and implied that we have to pay for it because he took one bite of it. I really didn't like the way that came over with communication from a manager to interpret that we was trying to get over for a $12 meal. We complained about his behavior and another manager came over and apologized for the employee. When we asked for the young man to come back out to apologize for his rude behaviour, because a bad taste was left in my mouth after that, the manager declined and said that he handled it.It was handled in very poor taste especially coming from a party that spent so much money. So since the situation was handled so poorly and unprofessional i will not be returning. My company host many banquets here and luncheons and that also will be discontinued.

What a find! I had dinner here the other night and I will definitely return. Every plate I saw looked delicious. For my seafood lovers check out the pasta Annapolis. It was cooked to perfection. The apple crumb dessert was enough for two to share. Our waiter took good care of us too.

This place is okay. I am usually disappointed after eating here. Sometimes it is okay, so it gets three stars.

Love this place. 2nd year for the mothers day buffet and they never disappoint!!!

Had Thanksgiving dinner buffet & food was mostly ok. Some of it, however, was cold. Desserts were so small & not that great. Buffet price did not include coffee, tea or soda which added another $5 (including tax & tip) to the $34.95 price tag. Probably won't be back for TG buffet again!

My wife and I have been going to Matthew's for years. The dining room isn't as nice as it used to be. It's become too casual. It's a shame. Going to Matthew's used to be an event. Now it's old hat.
