Do not come here during the holidays, unless you are willing to pay $35 an entree. I came here with my family on New Year's Eve, the place always has nice decor, but the prices were unbelievably expensive. They didn't have sandwiches available. We just want a simple dinner before heading to our New Year's party. Our waitress was fine. I would not recommend coming here when they do holiday reservations because they most likely overdo their prices every holiday.

Went there for 2020 Thanksgiving dinner with family. Was pleasantly surprised they were even open. Wait staff was good. Glad there was more to the menu than turkey dinner since it was the second of three Thanksgiving dinners this year. I had the shrimp cocktail and Caesar salad appetizer, roast beef and asparagus dinner with mashed potatoes. And ended with chocolate mousse. Pretty good and enough to take home for a second meal. All in all I was happy. I had been there once before for lunch with friends. A little expensive for that type of fare. But the food was good.

Great food, great service. This is a perfect place to gather with friends anytime, for lunch or dinner.

The food was absolutely delicious. Everyone was extremely nice when I picked up my food.

Had an absolutely fantastic family gathering and celebration here that was very well accommodated by the Matthew's 1600 staff. Our meal was buffet and the food was quite delicious!!

The in-house bar is also a fantastic addition to this venue and is well-staffed with friendly bartenders and great selection for your budget needs.

The close proximity to Ellicott City, Catonsville and of course Baltimore is also quite convenient, not to mention the ample parking and easy in/out access to Frederick Road!

The crabs were incredible. Ordered the medium and they were quite large and full of great meat. Awesome spices on top and great beers on tap to pick from to go with them.

Food is just ok. I had a Reuben this time. It was the best thing I've eaten there.

We just had a 90th birthday party for my Mom at Matthews 1600 on 7/1/18. We had a small party of 14 in the Hillcrest Rm.
We ordered off the menu and the food was delicious. Our waitress Kayla was so attentive and detail oriented. She went over and above to make us feel welcomed and cared for.
Thank you also to the busboy who cleared our plates. He was very courteous and kind.
Thanks to Matthews 1600 for making our Mom's 90th birthday a memorable one!!

Always a nice polite staff, clean, up-causal restaurant.

Went for Easter buffet. The food was bland and overcooked. There was a hair in the salad dressing and the selection was pitiful, all for $50 a person.

Great food and prices, clean and wonderful customer service.

Matthews 1600 is our "go to place". Never disappoints.

Great variety of food on the Thanksgiving Buffet, food was well seasoned and the service was superb. My family and I went there in 2017 and loved it so we made reservations for this year.

Great place for lunch or dinner in Catonsville! A go-to location for retirement and birthday celebrations from local businesses. Their buffet spread for these types of events is outstanding. They also have rooms available for groups and private parties.

Good food and drinks, service can be shacky and fries are not always hot some times refried

Very friendly and very good food, their specials change frequently and are reasonably priced. The wait staff is attentive and helpful in your selection. A very nice Catonsville Restaurant.

My server was cool. It was the blonde haired girl that stands at the hostess desk when you come up the stairs that made my visit uncomfortable. She kept turning around staring and rolling her eyes at my date and I (did I mention we were the only black people there) to the point I had to say something to my server. She made an excuse for her co-worker, something about blonde haired girl wanting to go home but the boss made her stay later and that's where her staring and eye rolling stemmed from. Yeah ok... Won't be visiting this establishment again.

We went to Matthew's based on a friend's recommendation. He said the sandwiches were delicious, especially the Rueben. Both my wife and I had the Rueben for lunch and loved it. The corned beef on the sandwiches was lean and very good. The sandwiches were a good value at $13.99 and included fries. Service was very attentive and the restaurant has a very large parking lot. There are several other sandwiches on the menu that we want to try so we will make a return trip soon.

At first I thought it was a steakhouse, but realized it is a nice neighborhood upscale casual American fare dining. They only had the filet mignon, so asked if our dining party wanted some New York steak. The sender asked and the kitchen staff was able to accommodate us for or 6 love of steak. We ordered medium, I ordered medium rare. To my expectations it actually came out proper! (A lot of places don't know)

Then we heard a lot of laughter in the dining room, the host came by and said they were having "Sharknado" night on the flat screens and had complimentary popcorn and mini cupcakes properly themed with mini sharks! What a friendly and fun atmosphere.

Service is fast and prompt. Although it became quite busy our server didn't forget about us. We didn't need to good our server down at all. Good service.

Awesome place we had my mothers 60th birthday dinner there and our waitress Alicia did an amazing job she had to deal with 20 of us and she did it with no problem and we are not the easiest people to handel so if you go there ask for her

This place me and my family have been going here for a long time we will ride are bike here and they have a good bar great dinning and very friendly staffers

FEB2021 Haven't been in a couple years Glad I tried it. Friends had meatloaf (pic -good not great) and chicken gravy crepes (pic -meh). I had the seafood gumbo (pic -good).
Started with the bruschetta (pic -delicious) which is briefly broiled to partially melt the cheese. Wife had their special Irish coffee (pic) which she really liked and the vegetarian burger (pic -good) what she said was great. I had the Chesapeake eggs Benedict (pic -great) which had the most crab meat I've ever seen on a Benedict. Really good. We share creme brulee (pic -good) and it was just what you'd expect.
Are waitress Olivia did a great job too.
