The food is great and the staff was hilarious to talk with. Loved the server! Definitely a great place to eat at and be with friends, family, or coworkers.
I'm usually very satisfied with what I order at Matthew's 1600 but on a recent visit, I ordered the Parisian sandwich. It's described as turkey, brie and greens on flat bread. However, what I got was ham (I think it was Hillshire Farm!), brie and greens on flat bread. Believe it or not, I didn't complain. It was delicious!! Not sure how it tastes with turkey but they should start offering it both ways.
Food is always consistent and good. Service is usually good.
We were there for a birthday party. The food and service were great. Nice venue if you need to schedule a function.
My husband and I went for the first time and the place is very vintage I like that the restaurant framework looks like a home. I'm assuming the place used to be a house. Also the food choices were awesome and their cinnamon was delicious. It was warm and fresh. I also tried their winter berry champagne and it was awesome. Together we spent about 60 dollars so to me that means you can have fine dinning at a reasonable cost only because the prices are not that bad. Compared to Oceaniers or Ruth Chris. We will be returning back no doubt.
Not a bad place to visit the menu is a little limited but,it was fairly good.
Very good food and a nice atmosphere. The waitress we had was fantastic. She even got the bartender to make up a drink to fit my tastes. Loved it.
I drive place this place on my way home and the parking lot is all full. I looked them up online and the menu read like a good meal. My goddaughter and I dined this evening and the menu lived up to my expectations and then some. Our waiter Jason did an excellent job. We will definitely back!!!
Good service, nice atmosphere, and pretty tasty food. No real complaints, just missing the 5 star "wow" factor. A definitely good choice.
Nice place for comfort food like pot roast and crab cakes. Good deserts.
I came here with mediocre expectations. My expectations were exceeded and we will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Proper rare burger
Pleasant and adequate staff
Soft pretzel not soft
I was trying to schedule an event (mind you "was") and called the restaurant to reach the event manager but he was "busy". Staff weren't overly eager to assist, more eager to rid of the phone call; nonetheless, I was determined. Over the next 7 hours I called another four times. I left my information (hoping for a callback) and kept trying. The event's manager was steadily "busy, in a meeting". I had expected he'd run out of breath after all these meetings, but I was inexplicably wrong.
I'm local. I have been in the God-forsaken bar plenty times and promise you the manager's endless energy is not because of their food, which is at best, mediocre. It's likely because he likes "meetings" more than he likes doing business.
Sole reason I was trying to schedule my event there was because its proximity to my business (work event). Despicable me...plenty of good restaurants around with better food and service...
Excellent atmosphere, great food, friendly service.
Attended a private party in a private room. The food was delicious. Plenty of space in the room.
Easter Brunch Buffet...pretty good. Waitress was very pleasant.
Good food and reasonably good service. The is hit hard around happy hour, but people leave quickly at around 7:30.
I gave 54 stars simply because the handicap entrance was not as easily accessible as I would like it to be . The food is very delicious.
First time there and enjoyed the service will go back
Today (April 2019) was my first visit to Matthew's 1600. The decor and layout of the facility was charmingly beautiful. The staff was very pleasant. Our server was delightful, patient and knowlegeable of the menu. My selected meal was delicious. I look forward to my next visit, and would gladly recommend Matthew's 1600 to my special friends.
This place has 5 star ambience (and prices), but unfortunately doesn't live up to its potential. Wait staff was pleasant but definitely untrained properly for this level of restaurant. Food was generally good quality but my plate was entirely unseasoned. However the gravy and crab dip were overly salty. There was a literal forest of broccoli rabe on my plate, and the potatoes had little taste. The lamb was cook correctly to medium rare. Hopefully they can correct these issues however I don't think I'll be coming back.
The food here is very good and I have been here many times. I do think some of the staff could learn how to smile a little bit more. Prices are reasonable.
Did was very good and they helped us get to a show on time with their fast service
- awesome customer service. Place romantic, beautiful, food was excellent
.
Always love this place. It's a lil hide away for my husband and I. The southwest egg rolls are the best ever.
Great happy hour specials and atmosphere! Loved it!
First visit and I'd definitely come back! Good food and nice atmosphere. Loved the Southwestern Egg Rolls!
It was ok. The vibe was off. I think their a little prejudice here. I won't be going back.
The food is very good, the waitresses are very nice and respectful.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere! You'll enjoy it! :-)
Was part of a buffet after a funeral. They were VERY accommodating with my dietary restrictions with excellent quality food
Great food and prices. I also enjoyed eating outside with the fresh air and views especially during the Chinese Flu. Definitely will be back
We order out for lunch at work. Quick service after calling it in
Mattew's is a regular destination for us. The chicken wings are pretty close to the famous Anchor Bar wings in Buffalo. There are several great salads and enough range to meet vegetarians for dinner. There is also a gluten-free dessert which is a big deal for GF people. The French onion soup is very inconsistent. However, the manager is very responsive on the days that it is not good. I keep ordering it because I love it and when it is good, it is really good!
We really like this place. The atmosphere in the bar side is comfortable but upscale. The menu has a really nice range of options from great wings and quesadillas to very solid dinner entrees and salads. If you like pot roast you must try the dinner entree or the pot roast sandwich. I truly hate to say this because my mom made excellent pot roast -- but theirs is honestly better than hers by quite a bit. It melts in your mouth and comes with this red wine sauce that is amazing. They also have very good burgers and great dessert options - a couple varieties of large homemade cookies with ice cream and different sauces. To die for. Service is very friendly here too - whether at the bar or in a booth. Just a nice overall place with reliably good food and service. There's also a more formal dining room on the other side but we have never eaten in there.
Not a fan of places with no prices on the drink menu. They will hit you out of nowhere with a $6 budlight. Entres and desert was really good!
Experience a feeling of reflection and awareness! I eat here a lot
This is one of the best restaurants I've ever enjoyed. The food was delicious and staff attentive, but did not hover. I hope to eat there again when I go to Maryland
Our favorite hometown restaurant ... great food and value!
Fantastic service and the food is delicious. Great crab cakes.
I think everyone should experience food this good. And that's coming from someone who doesn't ever like much food or talk highly about it.
Very nice restaurant, outstanding dishes. The pot roast sandwich is great. Bartenders are skilled and prices are reasonable.
My family had lunch there after the funeral of a beloved aunt. There were about 30 of us. We were in a pleasant private room and very capably served by Kristie. She was pleasant, efficient and very hard working. She was excellent and catered to every request. All the food was delicious. Great venue.

Great food, great service. This is a perfect place to gather with friends anytime, for lunch or dinner.
This is one of the best quality and atmosphere restaurants in Catonsville. Their food is always delicious and worth every penny. Their food is excellent, and I have never had a bad meal. I personally love their iced tea, matthew's chicken sandwich, crab cake, asparagus, tender pot roast meal and sandwich, and CRAB PRETZEL IS SO SO GOOD! Definitely try out this place!
Nice place to hold a party doing covid season. Pleasant nice people staff was nice.Plus the most important thing they follow guidelines on covid .Food was great
Atmosphere, staff & food. Make sure to get the shrimp toastini....
Great outdoor seating, impeccable service. I really enjoyed myself!
Bartender was fun and helpful. Food and drinks hit the spot!
Excellent service and food. Our waiter Cameron was fantastic dealing with 12 of us
Family reunion dinner was here. The atmosphere was cool . Food was ok this was my first time so i may have to go another time to see if i change my mind.
The food was yummy. Attended an office lunch. Everyone seemed to enjoy their menu choice. I ordered their burger, which was cooked to temperature (medium) nicely. Pair it the bleu cheese dressing, it's made in-house and really tasty. Careful with addons or random requests since they do nickel and dime a bit e.g. $2.50 for a soda water (like literally from the bar soda station--- i've a thing for fizzy water). Not a big deal, just be mindful. Won't stop me from returning and trying other selections. :)
The people were very friendly,Food was nice and the staff
My family loves Matthew's. Great food and service!
The fish tacos were okay. The service was great. The seafood trio was disgusting. Flavorless , and greasy. The rice didn t even have flavor. My party wasn t satisfied with their food either. I won t return. The seafood trio and crab cakes and jumbo shrimp (disgusting white shrimp with no natural flavor) should be removed from the menu.
My new favorite place. Good fountain soda
and an awesome cheese board!
