This museum brought back a lot of my childhood memories. It reminded me of the struggles of the. Freedom Riders and how social change can work for the good of people. Great videos and film clips. Relive the experiences of the Civil Rights leaders. Learn about politicians who were leaders and those that obstructed social justice. Learn what hatred and bigotry are and how they hurt us as a people. Great place.

A reminder that we as a nation are still yet an imperfect Union. Dr King (along with Mahatma Ghandi and Jesus, key influences in his life) showed there was a way for our country to heal the scars of inequality, injustice, and inhumanity left from slavery, the Civil War, and all periods leading to and including today. White nationalism is still really a thing; seriously? A country that can split atoms, walk on the moon, create nanotech on a scale unfathomable only a few years ago and we're still having Klan marches, a president who implicitly supports them, laws to disenfranchise black, latino, and other "minority" voters.... . We should do more to promote his life and philosophy. And peacefully march thru our lives as he did to promote the change in the world we want to see.

I really loved visiting. It was great reflecting on the person he was and all that he accomplished at his young age. He was a man with a tremendous love for God and a deep desire to serve Him. I missed the tour of ML's childhood home because they were full for the day. Get your tickets early in the morning if you plan on visiting the house. Everything is free and there was plenty of parking. The place was clean and everyone was friendly and helpful. I spent about three hours there, watching the videos and taking everything in. It's a wonderful place and would love to come back.

My family got a glimpse of Martin Luther King life and experience the effect he had on Civil Rights and how he challenges the young generations today to stand up for civil freedoms when faced with Injustice.

So much history, so much knowledge!

So much history, so much knowledge!
Seeing some of the memorabilia, was like a walk back in time, it made me realize that what I previously imagined this period of history to be like was no where near the true reality.
To say that I've walked where Dr Martin Luther King walked and played as a child is an experience that I'll never forget.

An amazing experience. I'd visited once about 10 years ago when they were closed, but you could still visit the reflecting pond. This time I got the whole experience and it was fantastic. If you haven't been, you need to go. There are 3 parts/blocks to the whole park, make sure you get to each.
The first part is about the civil rights movement, marches, sit-ins and so on. It also contains a section on Jimmy Carter and his work for civil rights.
The second is the reflecting pool Corretta and Dr. King are laid to rest. There is a (not so) eternal flame, gift shop and small museum as well.
The third block is the Ebenezer Baptist Church where Dr. King attended. It's been fully restored and is breathtaking. Standing where he stood gives you goosebumps. They also have a young man who has the intonation and cadence of Dr. King down pat and he delivers part of the "I Have a Dream" speech...it gave me chills.
All three sections have some sort of visual/movie happening on a rotating basis and tons of information about Dr. King and other civil rights leaders. It's an amazing place for a historical visit or just to connect and reflect.

Our family had a great time talking in the history of the civil rights movement and getting a tour of the birth home. I highly recommend signing up for the tour of the home. It's free.

Great learning experience! GO gain knowledge, wisdom and enlightenment from our peoples history. Help young minds grow and be aware. Best of all it has NO COST for a life changing experience. Walking is your only admission cost (also wheel chair and scooter friendly).
DON'T LET THIS INFORMATION BE LOST.

We arrived after the museum had closed for the day. Still was able to walk about the outside area and take in the very moving reflecting pool. We also crossed over the the outside area of the museum and read each one of the plaques around the rose garden. Quite beautiful.
There was a well dressed man offering pamphlets and then asking for "donations".

Great history. Very educational. Went with some international college students. This is a great site for people of all nations. It has a special emphasis on youth and young adult activism which I appreciated. And it's free!
