I like this place because it is a landmark classic department store for the young and the young at heart. The Walnut Room for lunch. Shop and have a snack on the lower level. Fun for the whole family.

Iconic Building. Great store for last minute shopping.

Macys has destroyed the history and beauty of this store. The tree in the Walnut room used to always be decorated by a top designer now it's the same thing every year. The windows on state street used to tell stories and gather crowds now they are barely interesting to see. On top of that, they sold all of the floors above the 7th floor for commercial use so you can't go up to the viewing floor to see the tree a anymore (notice the poorly boarded up windows in the tree pic) and when you walk around the department store floors everything looks dated, dirty and unkempt. The magic of Fields is dead.

I love this best. The employees their are always kind and courtesy! I love it there.

This place use to be elegant and clean. They are not maintaining the place as they used to.

Great place for shopping or just hanging out. They have a decent food court, bar, and Starbucks, and of course the walnut room. They have wide selection of products available but if you're looking for electronics (laptops, gaming consoles, etc) I'd look else where as their selection is limited. Other than that it's a must see classic Chicago shopping center.

This a grand old store! During the Christmas Holiday season and the Flower Show it looks especially beautiful.

If you like unorganized confusion with merchandise and love wasting time looking for items advertised for sale online at the store..walk through Macy's doors...good luck finding those items. And don't even think of asking a clerk for assistance finding that item...they will point you in some direction away from them. And please don't try to create small talk like "Happy New Year"....they are not happy starting the year while still working in that hot mess. Now I see why brick and mortars are going out of business.

Maybe the sales person was just having a bad day....maybe I was asking for too much....fyi I did find the item I was looking for after nearly an hour of unassisted effort.

....But once I did find the item that was advertised online I had to show the salesperson the correct price of the item that was clearly marked on the clothes rack as 50% off....For the time I wasted I could have just paid the extra 10 bux that it would have cost to have it shipped directly from the manufacturer's website.

I am only righting this review because the salesperson was so horrible at being a salesperson and to remind me to limit interaction with unhappy sales associates that wants to ruin money spending experiences when I was only there to spend money with Macy's.

If you don't like shopping in chaotic unorganized messes and being neglected with assistance the Macy's is a perfect hot mess to waste valuable time in shopping for "clothes"

Although it has downsized quite a bit, it is still a good place to shop, and have a good meal.

Just an amazing place. Such wonderful nostalgia inside. Everything is beautiful and sometimes you feel like you traveled back in time. The whole staff there should be very proud of this 2019 Christmas theme.

This visit to MACY'S was a 1st for my sons. They had never been there b4. Beautiful store, lots of choices. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because of the deplorable condition of the 2 dressing rooms we visited in the Men's Dept. We left one because it smelled like urine. The other dressing room was just as nasty with only one rack in that huge room to hang clothes. Not a lot of help available and the one young lady we asked a question of in that dept. was not very friendly. My boys left saying they prefer our River Oaks Macy's. Beautiful store, great experience at the Clinique counter.

This is now known as Macy's, still a good place to shop and look around great Chicago downtown area.

One of the largest Macy's stores in the US. Fantastically preserved and maintained interior from the early 20th century, incredibly beautiful and festive shop windows, high level of service.

Festive & historical. A must see! I read The Walnut Room has the best chicken pot pie. I need to make my reservation

They have Beautiful clothes, shoes, purses, merchandise is quality

They have good stuff but it's so disorganized and hard to find things most especially on the 2and floor

Purchased a watch on the 1st floor/ fine jewelry Dept. Roberto assisted me with my purchase. He was very helpful & well informed about the watch I was interested in

My favorite place to shop while in downtown Chicago. Right on State Street.

Walnut room for holiday get together. You won't find anything better.

The only drawback to this store is that its downtown Chicago and parking is high and limited. I use the park Chicago app to assist with not getting a ticket by parking at the meters.
The store is packed with all sorts of deals, and unique items you may want. It's a large and beautiful store with lovely decorations always festive. It's a great store to visit consider parking further away and taking the bus or train downtown so you can enjoy the store. Wonderful store full of luxury and finds.

Not a fan, it's over priced stuff and to be honest it was a ghost town in the store. Now days it's more pick up and go or online shopping with delivery

Beautiful Christmas/Holiday decorations! Too long to wait for a meal in the Walnut Room, bot it's always nice to see. The weather was amazing besides.

Really like the remodel Macy's did. The store was crowded but the return/online pickup desk gor adequately staff and the line moved rather fast. I have to admit you can find domecrealy good deals there. The merchandise is of good quality and the staff is friendly & professional

The sales people are always polite. No matter what dept I am in. Always satified with the quality of anything that I have bought from Macy's

The building is beautiful, Macy's staff will never be able to provide the same level of service and attention to detail that one experienced with the Marshall Fields service attendants.

The store is very clean and smells nice. Customer service is awesome!

Pretty building. Reminds you of old movies. Nice restaurant with a view upstairs. Also great quick food options in food court. Can find everything here. Sometone the store isn't adequately staffed like most big dept stores these days.

Been shopping at field for Black Friday for years I love to get my shopping on during this season cuz I have so many good buys not just myself but my whole entire family the people are nice and very helpful and friendly a nice place to shop

It's Macy's now and they have great sales but their customer service is the pits.

Beautiful building! Loved all the original parts they've left in the building. The Christmas tree in the restaurant on the top floor was amazing!

Store needs a major overhaul and clothing brands more popular with a younger demographic. Everything seems dated here.

Excellent history of the past architectural design and clothing designs

Macy's is in this historical building. I spent four hours just browsing. Loved it. Also bought clothes that I had to have but didn't really need. Fun day out.

The professionalism displayed by those employed by the company,and they have affordable fragrances, clothing, and footwear.

A very large selection of clothes, at great prices, lots of cool brands and friendly service.

What a huge selection. I love to dive into the LAST ACT corner. The next summer vacation is coming and right now I can stock up all kinds of white skirts, blouses, shorts or dresses.

Fabulous place to see Santa! Be sure to have lunch in the Walnut Room! Delicious!

When in town we always have breakfast at the Walnut Room the day after Thanksgiving. Though it's a little pricey, the buffet has most anything we might want to eat. The special beverages are also fun. We were able to add to our mug collection.

Excellent place to shop with something for everyone to Buy.

It was fascinating to visit the home of country music and see the wonderful costumes and memorabilia. It was well worth the money would definitely recommend a visit.

They always have very good specials, and with the coupons it helps you a lot ...
