Had a wonderful time. Decorations were beautiful and the service was excellent. Decided to make this a new tradition
Had a wonderful time. Decorations were beautiful and the service was excellent. Decided to make this a new tradition
Loved it. Can't believe how many people weren't there.
Always loved this place! It s a bit big inside and one can easily get lost in the mix but always fun nonetheless! Make sure you checkout the Walnut Room one of the best places to grab a bite to eat or a Bloody Mary.
Was a great store of historic proportion. Customer service was outstanding. This store is still remembered and missed today.
It reminds me of the way it used to be when it was Marshall Fields but it's lost some of its zest
Sell people look at me like I was a theif. No one in men's cologne Ever asked if I wanted help. I had to ask for help from a Latin lady who looked at me rude
Went here as a girl to Marshall Fields. Although Macy's is no Fields, they do have a bit of everything, even a petite section. It is small though. If you are a special size, petite, at least I've found it's best to order online.
Superior sales staff and always a great shopping vevue
Picked up my online purchase w/ no hassles and a free decorative Macy's shopping bag for my item !
Family Tradition, hit the Walnut Room for a good meal with family during the holidays. Ours has been loving it since the 1950's
Among the great things is watch repair. Danny in watch repair fixed my watch when I found the strap had broken. Quick, efficient, affordable, and courteous.
Great for the holidays to bring family and friends!!! Loved seeing all the decorations!!!
I like all the improvements they've made in the past year. Much nicer shopping experience.
Want a wonderful Christmas experience this is the place for you. The store itself is quite expensive but what place isn't in Chicago!
I have been coming since I was a kid. So many happy memories of the Walnut Room!
It's has a variety of all brands you see and looking for
Not many people shopping on a Monday night. Very full to be in the store
Always fun to visit marshall field. Restaurant was great too
No longer Marshall Fields. Back when it was, l enjoyed bringing my kids to the Christmas story window displays. Looks very cheap now and no imagination. Kind of sad. Macy's is doing a poor job in maintaining the floors and walls, lots of cracks in both & dirty.
The lines was long. Just picking up an item I purchased online. 40 minute wait. They need more help for the holidays
Came to see the Christmas tree. Didn't disappoint. The elevators could be faster though
I love visiting Marshall Fields! I really miss the old Fields. Macy s has tried to keep the nostalgia of the building but they took away the Holiday Lane section that used to be so magical. They also took away the viewing area to see the tree in the Walnut room. They are adding condos to the building. Slowly but surely the old Fields building will be gone. Good thing I have my memories! So far they still have some of the history of the building posted upstairs. Go see the building while you still can!!!!
Amazing place for shopping, you will find everything there.
Men's Fragrances department has new and throw back scents.
Go to the 4th floor and gaze at the Tiffany glass ceiling. It's stunning!
This is a beautiful store. Macy's still kept the Marshall Field elegance.
This is the Macy s on State Street in Chicago. Great store and even better historic building. Built in 1893 the historic clocks outside on the corners of the building , the columns adorning the inside of the store and the amazing Tiffany designed and built mosaic ceiling above the atrium are all must see architecture in Chicago.
The history, the Tiffany glass ceiling and my memories of the Walnut Room.
I do have fond memories of this building. I remember when my family was United. I remember my Aunt, Judy, she would take me to the Marshall Fields building along with my cousin and we together would enjoy hot chocolates. I remember it was a fancy event. I remember I would have to dress for the day. I was so pleased that I was important enough to bring downtown with my family. I did not have close contact with my father and my aunt is not blood-related merely by marriage but back then that didn't matter. I guess it changed as I got older but those are the Bittersweet Memories just like this building has changed and it's very memories which are also bittersweet.
Still creates a nostalgic touch to holiday season but recent conversion to buffet with very limited ala carte selections is disappointing and makes experience less special. Wait staff still congenial even with heavy holiday traffic. Feels like a necessary holiday family pilgrimage
A bunch of stores, everything you need. A little pricey though
This building is a true gem of architecture. It has a Tiffany ceiling, beautiful stairways and the classic clocks. During the holiday season iti s decorated esquisitely. If you are in Chicago, you must see this building.
Worst bathrooms ever! You can find decent deals tho.
If you are touring the area this Macy's is worth it to see. One of the originals. Floor 7 is a water fountain from the original Marshall Fields. There is food available in the Walnut Room. Breakfast , lunch and dinner. The Christmas decorations are beautiful. The Macy's is huge, multiple floors, and offers a large variety of products. Parking is limited and high cost because it is downtown Chicago. Use an app such as Spot Hero to find the best options.
Great place to go shopping friendly staff great prices and if you get hungry you can go down stairs and enjoy a little lunch
Great company to work for sales good friendly Employees lotsa choicese to choose from gifts aplenty
We had a party of 7, including a 2 year old. Hostesses were extremely accommodating. Our waiter was great, and the food was tasty. Our only complaint was that it was way too hot in the entire store and restaurant. Macy's could save money and kick the heat down. Otherwise, lovely experience.
I just do, I had great time with friends, and good memories.
I could definitely spend a while day here. It's what I remember about shopping in person. It has everything and lots to look at. Really nice workers too!
Bathrooms and lifts needs some serious attention. Loved the Santaland though!
Safety pin. Better go early to avoid the lines. Ale 22 dollars approx. And you can buy online and avoid the queue
1879, The iconic clock at Marshall Field's State Street and Washington Street store.
Christmas decorations bring memories of simper times
Santa was great and im 38 years old. Kept 15 people laughing.
A great place to shop, and eat. You can also just enjoy the scenery, with the history being told on how Marshall Field's started.
Yes its historic but uh everything is BEYOND overpriced. But I'm just going to assume that's a normal thing I wouldnt choose to come here unless it's to just look at the windows during the winter
The history on the 7th floor was incredible. The staff members were helpful. The store was spacious.
I like this location. It is near major transportation and the Pedway.
One of America's last great department stores! A visit here is like stepping back on time.
Great store and selection from all brands and restaurants.
The building is great, the Walnut Room fantastic, but Macy's will never compare with Marshall Fields!
Clean and good service. Reminds me of the good old days
The walnut room on the 7th floor has a affordable buffet with Prime Rib included.
This Macy's is a great place to go to buy furniture clothes and house where sure it may cost a little bit more than Walmart but you don't have to go all the way outside the city and the people there are much more helpful
Not as good since it is Macys. At least the Walnut Room is still there.
Seeing the Marshall Field Windows (Macy's) has been a destination for us just about every year. This years windows are sweet, not as fantastic as when MF did it...but little ones enjoy just the same.
The atmosphere is festive, decorations are beautiful in the store. Sales associates are helpful and able to answer questions. Frustrating part ...escalators were not working so lots of wandering around trying to find ways to move to floor to floor.
Spent a couple hours shopping..found some nice deals and interesting items that will thrill the receiver. Wasnt are prime destination..(came down to see Phantom..)
But saw the Walnut room tree..gorgeous.
Only wished for a little snow ...that would have made the day perfect...
Good buffet except for burnt lobster bisque which manager was aware of but never changed
This is a review of the building only - the place is gorgeous! It's what I remember high-end shopping to be way back in the day. It's really sad to me that Macy's is just discombobulated, messy and lord knows how hard it is to find anyone to help you or meet you at a register.
