We stayed for 4 nights over Thanksgiving and while I wanted to love it, our stay had many hiccups. My father is a local and we visit at least once a year. We usually stay at the Marriott but decided to give this a try. We booked months in advance and upon check-in we were told they did not have our room and said we booked during construction that was supposed to be finished before we arrived but did not happen. We went from a full ocean view with 2 beds to a partial view with 1 bed and cot for our son. We had the worst 4 nights sleep due to this replacement room being next to the service elevator and hearing the door slam all night every night, and our son feeling every spring in the cot. He left this trip with a lot of back and side pain. We were promised 2 cots for him to put together but only got one that initially never arrived until I called and reminded them it was needed. When I asked for the 2nd cot the next day I was met with some pushback and rudeness from the front desk. The person assisting us was told by anther individual that this was a "hot sauce situation" and to do it. This made me uncomfortable as it was clear he was speaking in hotel code about my family. The first day we lost all running water and electricity in our room. We were told to let the water run for a bit if it was brown when it came back. We also had a burnt out light in the bathroom that was never fixed although I was told they were sending someone right away. The entire 4 days we kept losing hot water in the room and ended up with cold showers for most of the time. During our stay a large group of Philadelphia Eagles players and crew checked in and the resort became a drunken mess. Yelling in the halls, banging on doors, and people simulating sex in the pool around children. The parking garage is shared with public beach parking and we had many situations of being stuck in the garage due to our card not working because of a "card reader error". The location of the hotel is great, the food was great, and the views are great. However, our experience was not. I will say that the manager offered us a discounted rate due to the hotel not having our room and us losing a bed upon arrival, so they did attempt to make up for that in the beginning, but I m not sure it was worth all that we experienced during our stay. The hotel does seem to have good reviews overall, so perhaps we just had a series of unfortunate events and an off stay, but it s enough to make me seriously second guess wanting to stay again.
