Tasty and good value, we had a "Nosh" 6 inch skillet each and shared a small salad on the side, this was a good amount of food for dinner. Fun way of ordering from a tablet. Not the quickest as they bake to order, but worth the wait! Be warned the air con is not great but still enough to cool off.

The best place for mac and cheese that I know of. They've had a couple of changes and it was a bit smokey inside, so we had to take it to go. But the flavor was still the same, thank goodness. A must try for anyone in the area
The mac and cheese here is awesome! You can choose from their special combinations or make your own. They also offer vegan cheese. I like the garden lite for a mac and cheese that's not too heavy. It comes with nice sized chunks of broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms. I also love the Parisienne. It has brie, figs and rosemary and is a nice change from typical mac and cheese varieties.
After trying other places we definitely stayed with this one. So much so that we repeat twice. There is a lot of variety and they are all very rich. Good price quality. There are 3 sizes. A medium per person is more than enough. There is also the option of the sampler where you can try 8 different types.
The best macaroni I've ever had! They come in many varieties, sizes, and prices. You won't even know which one to choose. The way to order and choose your favorite dish is very dynamic and the place is very clean
Spectacular Mac & Cheese served in the hot pan, available in different recipes; all in the context of New York's East Village, out of the spotlight of 5th avenue ...
S'mac is a must-try east village favorite. I've been going there since my college years and I keep coming back. The Neapolitan mac and cheese is delicious.
The Vegan mac 'n cheese was good. The chardonnay was too expensive. The service was fine. There were a couple of spoiled college pukes in the place -- just bad luck.
Love the cheese burger smac! The Philly cheese steak one was ok but my husband loved it. You pretty much can't go wrong with any of the varieties. Can't have weekly but a nice treat every so often
I couldn't resist ordering the "All American." With a description boasting, Nostalgia at its finest a tasty blend of American & Cheddar cheeses, just the way you remember it as a kid!, who could resist?! I opted for the gluten-free Mongo size with broccoli and roasted tomato add-in s... because that s how I roll.
Head's up for commuters: I did not know at the time that Mongo meant like, forty-four thousand servings, and they would not have a bag to contain this size box. I took the subway home carefully balancing a massive, piping-hot pizza-style box on my lap.
Anyway, once I made it home safely, s'mac in tact, I got maybe half-way through the dish before I tapped out. The Mongo literally lasted me three days not to mention three long workouts.
I don t know what the wizards over at the S Mac kitchen are doing, but they deserve a culinary Oscar for this one. The pasta itself is decidedly undainty every macaroni is thick and hearty; substantial messengers for the melt-y, burnt-in-the-right places cheese sauce. And that sauce! That sauce is the love child of american and cheddar. The kind of love they write poems about.
While I will probably opt for a smaller size next time, mostly so I can get home without clinging to a cardboard box for life, I will definitely be making this a regular in my GF rotation. My only problem is deciding which Mac to try next...
Bonus GF points: The restaurant is only a block from Tu Lu s Gluten Free Bakery, so you better be planning on dessert!
I'm never going back!!! Despite the place having an open/tight place. The "Vegan" Mac & Cheese was overly priced and super bland; I used all that I could to give it some flavor (salt, black pepper, pepper flakes and at the end what helped was ketchup!). I gave it one star because I could not give it anything less. My body rejected the mac & cheese moments after eating it! Let's just say thankfully I was close to home when my stomach was ready to EXPLODE!!! I believe it wasn't vegan at all!!
Well I started off by seeing this place on television looked decent.... what a disappointment it was ratchet ghetto just horrible these workers curse play fight horrible music very inappropriate.. over priced for this food the mac was awful very disappointed never again..
Decent place to get your fix of mac and cheese. Large variety of different vegetarian and non-vegetarian mac and cheese meals. There is also the option to have gluten-free maccaroni, choose your own ingredients, or to have a bake-at-home take away. There are self-service terminals where you make your order and the food is then brought to your table. Service is quite quick and although the place is crowded from time to time, you will probably still get one of the tables as people do not stick around for long.
I miss the Smac on East 33rd Street. They closed down last year but that location was the better of the two. This location mac and cheese on 1st doesn't even compare. It's very bland and doesn't incorporate the cheeses with the sauces like it should. I gave this place two chances and both times, they failed to deliver the way 33rd Street used to so i stopped going and most likely will not return.
Great customer service. Multiple options to chose from. Parking is tough. Pricing a little high but totally worth it if you are a Mac n cheese lover. Quick if you are trying to squeeze in a lunch break as we did. Love the skillet presentation.
If you love a casserole / lasagna meets Hamburger Helper mashup, this is the place for you. I enjoyed it, but I could see it not being everyone's cup of tea.
Came here with some of my co-interns and a friend. The food came out pretty fast, despite there being a large crowd for dinner. You are supposed to order on a tablet, take a number, and someone will take it to your table. The Mac n cheese was nice and hot, and each dish was so filling. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, with open windows that let in a nice breeze.
What a cute place! It was really delish! And I love they serve it in a cast iron :) we got the brie, fig, and mushroom Mac and it was really great! I also love how they have an option to take home and cook. That's smart!
Cheese macaroni shop It's the most junky, high-calorie menu, but it's delicious and celery! However, the shop was not very clean and the toilet was clogged up, so it's quite courageous (laugh) There is no doubt that it is not a fashionable store. However, I would like you to go and see the special taste of cheemaka.
I've eaten in the restaurant a few times and loved it. Recently, I placed an order to bake at home. It was extremely bland and flavorless. Not worth it.
In the mood for some Mac and cheese? Couldn't recommend this place enough! They have a variety of different kinds, each customizable to your liking. Pricing is fair (starts at around 6-7 for basic mac and cheese in a small cast iron bowel, and goes up from there). Plenty of outlets located near the table if in need for a quick charge while eating
I read the reviews and they were mixed. Some stated bad service, lacking in cleanliness, and so-so Mac and cheese, and long wait time for food....I went there today with my husband and we shared the sampler. I found the place clean, service fast and friendly, food came out relatively fast (they need time to make it you know.... it's not McDonald's!)....and every one of the selections in the sampler was fantastic! I love love love mac and cheese and am 66 years old so know my Mac and cheese ---- I can only think the bad reviews came from competitors! I recommend this place to any lover of Mac and cheese . So glad we got the sampler! Can't wait to go back!
Nice and original. To order there are screens where you choose your dish. You pay and you expect some 'bring to the table. Very good Mac & Cheese but be prepared for a high dose of fat. But for once, and one thing that you can do.
S MAC is a very simple delicious restaurant located in downtown Manhattan! They have a variety of Mac and cheese to choose from with different sizes. When I went here I got the 4 cheese Mac and cheese and it was bomb! I recommend it with extra bread crumbs!
Website says open until Midnight. Walked in at 10:30 to a guy making the slice your neck gesture saying guys I m closed . I m only ONE guy that was weird by itself. Let alone the 10:30 close on a Friday night in the East Village.
Some of the best gluten free macaroni and cheese I've ever tasted. Even the breadcrumbs are gluten free! The space was decent (not the cleanest, but hey, the food more than made up for it), the portions were lovely and generous, and service More
Any macaroni and cheese lover will die at this place! Not much area for seating so it is not surprisingly very busy. It s counter service and they give you a number for the table, but the service is quick. I got the S MAC Sampler which has 8 different types on it! My favourite was the Italian. Multigrain and gluten free pasta can be subbed for an additional cost and they even have some vegan options. Definitely check this place out!
This was definitely the best surprise on our trip to NY. The helpful staff explained to us how the service worked, and even suggested a smaller size of our place, since it was big enough for the both of us.
Tasty and interesting variations of Mac'n cheese. You order and pay at terminal at the bar, take your drinks from a fridge and sit down. Some minutes later you get a skillet with Mac'n cheese delivered to your table. When you're finished, you put everything back to a collection place and leave. Most guests are students in their 20s.
As a Mac and cheese lover I was so hoping for better. The biggest disappointment was the lack of cheese sauce in the flavor different varieties. We did get the shareable variety skillet so not sure if that was just a bad idea and we should've gone for the whole skillet of one flavor. Also while sitting there and eating, having a conversation one of the worker came over and turned up the music so loud that no one could hear one another at the tables. You saw everyone in the store lookup when this happened.
The food was everything it was cracked up to be. The service is horrendous, but I don't care because the food is great. You can order very larger portions, but I will never go back because the only options they have for soda are the small cans for 1.75. When you have a giant bowl of Buffalo mac and cheese that you spend $12+ on, it seems retarded to have to buy two drinks to go with your meal.
There are just those days when you crave mac and cheese, the ultimate comfort food. This place can be a pricey for mac and cheese but you won't feel that way once you take your first bite. Love, love, love!
Yummy mac-n-cheese fancy flavors, mostly all available as Gluten Free, even with bread crumbs on the top. My photo (couldn't caption it) shows "normal" and gluten free side by side - hard to tell the difference! The fig-n-brie is my fave.
I'm in love..... I always take this to go and eat in the comfort of my home. Absolutely delicious I would eat this every day if the calories/fat content weren't through the roof. The gluten free vegan mac tastes so good that my pickiest friends even enjoyed.
Good stuff. Gluten Free available. But....will ask if you want bread crumbs but won't mention that it cost extra. I wish they had take out bags that their to go boxes will actually fit in.
Want a good Mac 'n Cheese? S'Mac (a.k.a Sarita's Mac & Cheese) is it. It's in the name. They make wonderful skillet dish Mac's which has appropriate sizing and portions for all. A limitless number of options including obviously cheeses of choice and topping to boot. Great service, Very fast and prompt. Will come again!!
The owner of this restaurant, Sarita Ekya, is not very honest although her employees are. Many business owners especially in the food industry think they are going to get away with for some reason the tactics this woman used on me.
WRONG! What you do comes right back on you, Sarita, in one form or another and it's usually at the worst possible moment. I bet she hasn't even kept in mind who I am. I'm the lady who offered you a handshake deal, meaning I would trust you without a detailed contract to serve my quinoa pasta and cheese at S'MAC.
You taught me once again the meaning of treachery. You must be constantly deeply ashamed, and you're raising young children! Good luck with that! Please don't tell me you're sorry because I'm pretty certain you meant to do exactly what you did to me; you certainly wouldn't be the first. May the birds of paradise fly up your nose!
