Well first off I'm going to give the mac and cheese an awesome review because it is ABSOLUTELY delicious . On the other hand, I called before making my way to the dining area they said they closed at 11. When I got there, they took FOREVER to come take my order. Then the girl tells me to wait and when she came back, she tells me they weren't taking any more orders . Instead of telling me when she got to the counter, she did whatever she was doing first and then told me and it wasn't even 11. The workers were simply being lazy. They had more than 15 minutes to spare once the girl FINALLY decided she wanted to take my order. The service is SHITTY. Never have I ever gone to a place and got denied of ordering ESPECIALLY if it isn't even some fancy sit down place.

This is the ultimate in comfort food. I always mean to try a different flavor, but 9 times out of 10, I'm getting the Alpine. The crispy bacon bits and gooey gruyere is a combo that is amazing. I normally take on a major munch alone in one sitting. Do you dare challenge the mongo size?

Soooo..like..ummm yeea I am soooo not thrilled to come back here. Portion for the small size was so not worth the price it was. And I expected a knock out version of classic baked Mac n Cheese, but all I got was " aaaahh, it's ok..n quite boring" if you'd ask me. Not the bang out that I really thought it was gonna be. And again, the portion for pricing is a joke.

The mac n cheese is incredible. My family and I first visited on a trip to New York years ago and now make it a point to come here everytime we visit. There are a variety of mac n cheese, all of which are delicious. The employees here are kind and helpful. It's a must have experience in New York and I recommend it anytime someone is in the city.

The pros are that their food is inexpensive and filling, altho hardly remarkable. The cons are that they play music DEAFENINGLY LOUD. We were gonna stay, but I got a migraine after 3 minutes, so we changed the order for to-go. No reason to play music THAT LOUD in a small place. Also, if the staff added smiles to their faces to compliment their service, that'd be great. It's not very pleasant to deal with people whose faces give you the impression they're doing you a favour by doing their jobs.

So amazing for many different mac n cheese experiences! love it!!

The order was over an hour late and missing items. The delivery person did not care that part of the order was missing. Dissatisfied

The price and wait time for mac and cheese doesn't make it worth it. Plus my boyfriend got a beer that was a few months old. Buy some fancy cheese and elbow macaroni and safe yourself the trouble.

As Mac and Cheese goes, it was average; but then I'm spoiled to my Grandma's 7 cheese, 1lb of butter, macaroni and cheese...from scratch of course!

great mac and cheese ..ordered many times always great..ALTHOUGH i did have my food destroyed by uber delivery once..( mac n cheese spreading all over the box) never asked for a refund. and i couldn't eat it at ALL! (covid )..took a loss besides that no complaints..hoping for a better way to secure plate before delivery (top maybe on actual plate, i have pictures but I'm good on that again YES its really good mac and cheese and yeah I just ordered again ..( but if it happens again.. oh boy!! lol

I really enjoyed the Swiss mac and cheese with bacon. 5 dollar beer doesn't hurt either.

Had the vegan mac and cheese here. I would come back but they need to add MORE SEASONING AND SALT. Apart from that I always respect a place that offers tasty vegan options

I always love smac. The mac and cheese there is always perfect.

I was quite impressed with my visit here. We were starving getting in, so we ordered a major munch size and shared it between the two of us. We are both fairly light eaters and it was more than enough. I loved that it was sizzling as it came out in the cast iron pan. It likewise stayed warm the entire time we ate because it is presented in the pan it was cooked in. We got the Alpine, and when they say slabs of bacon, they mean it! It was like Louisiana style crackin. I was loving every bite of what we were eating! All in all, I would go back and would recommend giving it a try if Mac and cheese is your jam.

We went here for lunch on 11/11/17. Amazing food. This was my first time in NYC and they helped make it a great day with warm yummy food.

To me, the food was not worth the price, and I was a bit put off at how they basically force you to use the automated ordering computers. Am I the only one who does not want robots taking over everything?

Slow service. It was a hot day and the AC wasn't on. The cashier was very rude to everyone.

SO good. Wow! I made my own creation and it was the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had. Get the breadcrumbs.. they are a great touch. I love all the different portion controls. Add the salsa and ground beef for something like a little mexican.. so yum!

Delicious! I always love eating at Smac! The Masala mac is probably my favorite. Sometimes it can get crowded though - make sure you go early or just after the dinner rush. There's usually another rush right before they close as well.

I tried the version of Mac and cheese that had Brie, fig, shiitake mushrooms, etc. it was tasty. Not the best I ve had, but tasty. This was a nice casual place. I liked that it didn t have table service. Good spot to stop in as a solo diner.

I went to the East Village location and the place is messy I waited 40 mins, the tables weren't clean and the staff it's pretty rude too I only stayed because of the food but I am not coming back to this location only to Murray Hill.

The food was so tasty. I got the Mac and cheese sampler with a friend and I'd definitely recommend. I want to go back next time I'm in NYC.

After pulling out blades of grass of Rosemary and overwhelmed by the amount of seasoning, I had asked for a different dish. Their response was that they put 2 Shakes of Rosemary in each dish- whatever that means. So he argued with me over the amount of seasoning after expressing how much it was, and I still had to get the same dish. Only giving it 2 stars because I had my friends Burger Mac N Cheese instead and that was amazing. Unfortunately I m never going back.

Service was good. I didn't like my dish though. I got the buffalo chicken mac and cheese, and it was nothing special. In fact, I think they went overboard with the buffalo sauce--it was gross after a while.

Went to the Murry Hill location. Ordered the 4-Cheese ( w/slab bacon), the Buffalo Chicken and the Cajun. Could not be more impressed. My family is BIG on Mac and Cheese and they loved all three. My favorite was the Cajun but my kids loved the Buffalo. The slab bacon in the 4-cheese really made it. So glad we tried it. Just a note, we brought them home and baked them at home "Take and Bake". Came out great. Looking forward to trying more on the menu.

Amazing food! The Mac & Cheese was incredibly delicious. The only reason why it didn t get a five star was due to the staff. They seemed annoyed and like they d rather be anywhere else than placing orders for food (very grumpy), which in return made us feel uncomfortable.

But other than that I highly recommend.

Amazing place. You can choose how you want the mac and cheese, the size and everything. It's the world of the mac and cheese. Strongly suggested.

There's definitely better mac and cheese in NY, but this is a good mix of "purist" mac (i.e. old-school, simple, elbow pasta) made with unique ingredients, baked to perfection. I got the "Parisienne", made with brie and figs, which was as amazing as it sounds. Note: They have the traditional recipe for kids, but my picky eaters were not fans of the cornmeal breadcrumbs on top. I'll skip the breadcrumbs for the kids next time.

I m not the biggest fan of cheese in general, but something about Sarita s Mac and Cheese makes me question my taste buds! You ll find plenty of interesting menu options here, and with a bunch of fun sizes (from Nosh all the way to Partay!). If you re in the mood for something different, get the Masala - the Indian spices play surprisingly well with the dish, otherwise my go-to item is the Napoletana (you can even grab the recipe from their website - complete with videos!) S mac definitely changed my mind on this comfort food; it s probably a good thing that I don t live where they deliver!

Cool place, lots of cheeses for the dairy lovers but a little tired on the menu. My main complaint..... WHO WANTS GRILLED CHICKEN IN THERE MAC AND CHEESE?!?!? Drop those chickens in a dredge, fry them and get me some texture in my S mac. I missed the crunch from the fried pieces to complete the craving. Good news is for $20 you re gonna have lunch tomorrow.... unless you re me and eat it all (bring friends, steal their doggy bags)

The food is tasty but the place is a mess and the staff is incredibly ghetto. Was better before. Just now the staff was arguing, and calling each other names. I waited almost 10 minutes to order while they went back and forth, then was told there would be a 30 minute wait. The place was very dirty and had flies. Been coming here for years. It's in a sorry state

The place is nice. Cozy and Well decorated. Staff are friendly and helpful. They have really good menu and food is top notch. Recommend for all mac and cheese lovers. You won t be disappointed. Its usually crowded, so prepare to wait a little

Takes forever and a day to have your food delivered literally took and hour and a half and i'm only 9 blocks way if i knew it would take this long i would have cancelled my order. definitely would not be recommending this place.

Hard to get a seat in the tiny dining room, and the food takes a while to arrive. But it is crazy crazy delicious.

My first macaroni with cheese since I arrived in NY.

Yummy! You can choose the quantity you want from the 4 pans hanging behind the counter. Then order directly from the tablet on the counter: from there you can choose what kind of pasta to eat. ATTENTION: be careful not to put the breadcrumbs (choice applicable immediately after choosing the pasta).

Everything will arrive in a short time.

Very simple and easy to handle: the only service you will have is the delivery of the dish to your table.
You will have to clear yourself!

I recommend you go there, it's worth it.

I had my first Mac&cheese EVER here and could not have been luckier with my decision because I checked out some places before I went to have it. The atmosphere at S mac was great, I came for dinner and it was super cozy. There are several variations of Mac&cheese and you can also choose from 4 different portion sizes. I took the 3rd largest one and had to take half of it out haha. It was soooo good though! I swear it was beyond delicious! I loved the taste and the cheesy creamy aspect of it! I think I waited 10 minutes or so which was totally fine! I paid $20 but as I mentioned, I ate twice (next day lunch) so that was fine as well!

I am gluten free and I ordered the Mediterranean style mac n cheese.
The staff is ultimately useless and after telling them that I am gluten free, the girl behind the desk proceeded to add breadcrumbs to my food, then lied to my face about them being gluten free.
Half of my dish was feta cheese, literally all on one side. The other side had a small portion of macaroni and then some other soupy, messy, indescribable things. Completely inedible.
And here I am, at school about an hour later and I am horribly, horribly sick.
DO NOT GO HERE. The place is filthy, the decor is outdated and the seats are destroyed.
Not to mention, their "gluten free friendly" menu is completely rubbish. I've been twice and I got very sick both times.

This was so disappointing! We were in NY visiting and I was so excited to try this place based off insta pictures! The mac and cheese was so dry and had a weird taste! I got the sampler and ate maybe one triangle. Ironicly/luckily a homeless lady walked right in and asked if we had any food we didnt want so I gave her the rest of my meal.

This place is delicious and I absolutely love the Mac and Cheese here. The wait time is expected, as they cook it on a frying pan and hand you over the frying pan to eat from. My only complaint is that there is virtually no space in the restaurant and you usually end up hovering other people and waiting until they finish eating. Otherwise, it's really good. Disregard the B sanitation rating, it's much better than that.

The cheeseburger Mac is awesome here I give this place points for having a lot of seating cus unless you're drunk eating Mac and cheese outside is dangerous.

Got the sampler platter and a buffalo chicken. Even the flavours I didn't personally love were clearly well constructed and blended.

A great place for anyone that loves Mac and cheese! Some of the options are a bit bland, though. My favorite has to be the Masala Mac and cheese. The spices make it stand out from the other options. The prices are decent for the portions. And the people are friendly and great.

I just moved to the city couple weeks ago and have been trying a new place every few days. I go to places based on web recommendations for good food at reasonable prices. This has the best in town so far. I had the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese with half blue and half cheddar cheese crusted on top. Incredible! There's a bit of a wait but it's totally worth it. Come at an off hour to avoid the line.
