The doctor and office team are great, and I highly recommend them. I first saw them after graduating from UT, and stayed with them up until I moved out of Austin a few years later. The team is polite, invested in your well-being, and very accommodating and flexible. My experience has been great, and I can easily recommend them to anyone who is looking to establish a new eye doctor.
Everyone in the office was exceptional. Dr. Satrio was professional and compassionate. I unfortunately was not able to afford the price of the lenses offered. It was very disappointing. I was looking forward to working with her.

I be Been visiting the TSO Killeen location for almost 11 years and when I moved to Austin I knew i wanted to find another location. This location was definitely more upscale in terms of frames and technology! I liked that there were complimentary water bottles and coffee. The doctor was great and everyone was very welcoming and helpful ! I look forward to my next visit!

I have been going to Jackman Eye over 10 yrs I think. They have a great staff and the exams are professional. My children are now driving and going to Jackman Eye on their own. The staff helped the kids navigate being 'not kids'. Love it!

I have been going to Jackman Eye since the 1980's and i highly recommend them. They perform a very thorough examination and tests to ensure all bases are covered. They are very knowledgeable and they help you with selection of frames that best suite my needs and that look good.
Dr. Tekell knew her stuff with regards to eye health prevention and was patient with my questions. I also like that you don't have to spend the rest of the day dilated with their machine. They also review the eyeye pictures taken with you which is helpful.
I always have a wonderful experience here. Very friendly, very knowledgeable. I feel like I am in very good hands every time I go!
I started seeing Dr. Huser a couple of years ago and formed a highly favorable impression of her. Last year when time for my annual checkup came, she was on maternity leave, and so I saw her partner, Dr. Tekell, whom I have now seen twice and who has likewise impressed me quite favorably. Both optometrists are superbly competent and articulate, make a point of spending time with their patients, and have pleasant personalities that project warmth and compassion. I started going to them because they are within easy walking distance from where I live. I am moving 4 or 5 miles away, but I will gladly make the trip to continue my professional relationship with their practice.

I could never recommend this practice to a friend, the staff made my visit uncomfortable and the fees are *very* high compared to other (probably better) physicians' offices in Austin. When I arrived, staff told me I had to pay for an extra exam as part of my prescription renewal, which my previous doctors never charged extra for.
The staff made me feel uncomfortable for trying to understand what would be involved in the exam -- I asked what was included in the fees, and not one person could explain to me what the extra exam involved. They were dismissive in their answers and one person refused to talk to me after I just asked about the extra exam.
I should also add that when I got the bill I couldn't believe what they charge. A simple exam with TSO (which doesn't include the extra fee they couldn't explain) is more expensive than what the best ophthalmologists (M.D.s) in town charge for a comprehensive exam that includes evaluation for both a glasses and contact prescription.
My ophthalmologist was fine, it's unfortunate that the staff she works with can't or won't take the time to talk to patients about their medical care. Patients have a right to understand the charges on their bill and it's irresponsible for TSO employees to be unable or unwilling to answer patients' questions.
Great optometrist... I always have a good experience they have a awesome selection of frames cheap ones as well as name brand designers.
TSO on 39th has been my first and only place for exams, lenses and frames. When I moved to Austin I was wearing hard lens contacts, dr Dugas was able to get me onto soft, comfortable and financially friendly contacts that I ve wanted for years!! The office staff are genuinely friendly, amazing and true experts from start to finish.
This TSO is worth the trip from East Austin!
Dr. Tekel is the first optometrist to diagnose my eye problem. The doctors I have gone to never heard of photophobia. I feel confident that I will finally get some relief under Dr. Tekell s care.

I got a scratched cornea on Friday and they made sure to make room for me in the schedule and then went out of their way to follow up and ensure my safety! The staff were all so generous. This was my first experience with Jackman Eye but I will definitely be seeing them from now on!
Can t say enough about this great optometry office! Everyone from front desk to back is friendly and professional. I usually see Dr. Huser, and she is so thorough and takes time to find you the right prescription and address your vision health needs. Today my son saw Dr. Tekell for an emergency and she was also wonderful. They squeezed us in and helped us through a potentially scary issue with calm and prudent recommendations. The staff takes time to help you maximize your vision benefits and they are not pushy or opaque. Dr. Jackman was a great eye doctor, and the new owners are taking it to the next level!
For the last few years Dr.H was a pleasure to see! Loved coming to the the practice. Dr is very educated and happy to answer all questions/concerns however once it came to looking for glasses & obtaining a quote is where the ball was dropped. Let s back up to the day before I called to obtain my out of pocket cost. I was informed $60 for my contact Evaluation & $10 for an eye exam. Daughter $10 exam. Fast fwd to the appt, as I m getting a quote/estimate for both mine and daughters glasses I m informed our exams come out to almost $300. As you can see that s a HUGE DIFFERENCE! So I was upset that it was diff from what I was told the day before. I m Walked to the manager Demetria who verified the benefits (Incorrectly) and told me it s the patients responsibility to educate themselves on their coverage . Which I did and had it pulled up. But because the eff date was 2019 they didn t honor it. I was also informed that the benefits were changed, which lead me to think My HR dept made changes and didn t inform me. She stated she would collect $80 and bill me the diff. Never took ownership that they dropped the ball and gave me the incorrect cost. I pay and leave contact my HR dept with the assumption that they were correct and within minutes get a call back saying I do have coverage. I understand we re human and we make errors. My problem here is I was offended because of the comments or choice of words the manager made to me and the lack of ownership and responsibility. I would never tell any patient what she said. The doctors are amazing and so are the assistance helping with the glasses but the unfortunate part is I was misinformed and they were misinformed and never took ownership which cost a big dilemma.
Though I got the bill just a very few days after my visit, I never got the call promised me for the very next day after my visit with the results and the changes to be made in my lenses. That was over a mnth ago and am still waiting for that call.
My family and I have been going to Jackman Eye for years. The entire staff are exceptional, very personable yet professional. My wife is a patient of Dr Huser and thinks the world of her. I see Dr Tekell and she is always wonderful. Both are extremely knowledgeable and really care about their work and patients. Go see for yourself, I am confident you will agree!

Dr Dugas was one of my favorite docs of all time. He has retired, but I recently saw Dr Tekell who removed a foreign body lodged in my eye after an accident. She was great and will be my go to eye doctor from now on.
Dr Huser is great! Very thorough and kind. I appreciate that she got me in with the retina specialist the same day when an issue came up. She also took time to explain what she was seeing in my eyes.

I just saw Dr Huser yesterday for my annual eye wellness. I loved the ambiance of their new office plus the huge parking lot is a perk. But the best thing I like about this office, Dr Huser is very sweet and has excellent bedside manner. She makes you feel comfortable and she pays attention to your chief complaints. She is thorough and knowledgeable. I don't feel like I am being rushed. Also the staff who assisted me yesterday she was always nice and gentle. Overall, Everyone is friendly and helpful great customer service. And very easy to make appointments. I've been going to Jackman Eye for 12 years and I always have a pleasant experience in every visit.I would highly recommend Dr Huser to friends, co-workers and to everyone.

I'm a teacher who was going to have to retire due to severe eye problems. I got a variety of misdiagnoses from three of the area ophthalmologists, and I was just desperate. My son recommended Dr. Jackman, who promptly diagnosed my eye problem and fitted me with special prism glasses which corrected the problem. The office has a large inventory of glasses frames to choose from, and I found just the pair that I liked at a reasonable price. Dr. Jackman has been my eye doctor now for ten years, and I could not be more pleased with the excellent care and service at his clinic. Five stars!!

We are super happy with Dr. Satrio for our 13yr old. Been using the recommeded lens for about a year and my sons eyesight is no longer jumping up quickly and he is happy to go without glasses during the day time. She was on the spot with her detailed exam to give us the best option. Most importantly for us, very patient in answering our questions since it was a big step for us to take. Another fabulous experience at Jackman Eye, from the reception area to Dr. Tekell. I actually enjoy going to the eye doctor now even though I get anxious about the eye tests. Dr. Tekell is warm and makes the visit very comfortable. She is very knowledgable and I leave learning something new about vision each time! She is also trauma informed which is very important for me.
Dr. Jackman is not only an excellent optometrist. He's invested and takes only the best care of you. I've been a patient for years, and I've showed up for everything from a chemical burn on my retinas to a simple exam. I've always been caringly.. cared for. I hope everyone will come here.
First and foremost, Dr. Jackman's name makes it seem like he has a doctorate in medicine when he actually has a doctorate in optometry. This just means that he's not a physician and did not attend medical school. So if you're looking for an ophthalmologist, this is an optometrist facility.
I made an appointment a few days in advance and had absolutely no trouble during the eye checkup process. It's frustrating that there is a separate fee for the fitting of contact lenses beyond the basic prescription that the UT Superior Vision doesn't cover. Dr. Jackman was quick and effective at doing his job and I was in/out in less than thirty minutes. He gave me two pairs of contact lenses to try (free of charge but probably built into that fee for the fitting) so I could test them before ordering a yearlong supply.

Chose to come here because they accepted the UT Student Health Insurance and had good reviews. I found the staff to be of high quality, with ample care and attention to detail. However, I cannot help but be put off by a doctor s office that insists on nickel and diming it s patients. If you want good care for a fair price, look elsewhere.
I scheduled an appointment two weeks in advance and gave them all my insurance information. 24 hours before my appointment I received a text saying that my insurance wasn t covered and I would have to pay $110 out of pocket. Absurd they didn t tell me this sooner. Terrible service.
Love this office, the staff and the physicians I flew from St. Louis to get my eyes checked recently moved from Austin but I flew back to get my eyes checked they know what they or doing !
I never write reviews, but this place is such a catastrophe that I feel compelled to write. I saw two of the doctors at least 4 times over 3 months and they could not get my prescription correct--a very, very basic prescription at that. I spent an extra 3 months in my bad glasses and spent a catastrophic amount of time in this office (what, 9 or 10 visits?) trying to get this sorted, all because of their inability to write a basic prescription.
Adding injury to the tremendous waste of my time, they didn't feel like they should refund my exam fee, so I had pay for another, correct exam out of pocket. That they would waste months of my time and acknowledge that they flubbed each and every exam and not refund my money is what really showed me that they don't care in the slightest about their patients. I spent 20 minutes with another doctor and now have the correct prescription and functioning glasses--something that couldn't happen over months of trying at Jackman Eye. Don't waste your time.
No major complaints but no significant compliments either. It really depends on who you seeing.

Dr Tekell and her staff are the bomb!! The office is beautiful, the people who work there are so helpful and friendly and Dr Tekell is so patient, and smart and thorough. I can t say enough good things about them. They don t take my insurance but I m happy to pay out of pocket because the care is so excellent here and very affordable. They have lots of cute, trendy or classic glasses choices. I have been seeing them for 8 years and have always had a great experience.
