My husband and I had our wedding reception here, and it was such a wonderful experience! Everyone loved the location and condos/townhomes they stayed in, and they were all able to turn it into a little getaway. The catered food was fantastic and all of the staff was great to work with, especially KathyAnn! We look forward to going back for anniversaries and long weekends.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo with an amazing view of the lake. There were 3 jacuzzi tubs and 3 gas fireplaces. Everything was extremely smooth and easy. The lodge is a short hike down some stairs and across the river (or you can drive). It has open seating around the fireplace.

We stayed in the log cabins at the resort and they were cute and fun. Beautiful location close to Temperance and Cascade parks. We signed up for the free guided kayak tour along the lake which was amazing. You must sign up for them in advance. The disc golf course was a nice beginner course that allowed my family with little experience to have a blast on it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The pool was well maintained. These are all reasons why my family comes back to this resort so much.

This has been my favorite go-to spot since I was a kid. Beautiful location with on-site hiking. Two restaurant options, a pub and a nice restaurant with a view, both are pretty expensive with small menus though. Cute gift shop. Close to Grand Marais. Winery up the road.
A few things I would suggest to improve on would be 1. Swap out the complimentary shampoo/conditioner for something better quality 2. Add mini fridges and microwaves in some of all of the rooms.

We stayed in the Sea Villas a few miles up the road but visited this main resort regularly. Everything is upscale and probably a bit better than you imagine. The main reception is handled by friendly staff and is large with comfortable seating. Restaurant food is very good and the bar/pub is quite cosy. Good pool and Jacuzzi.

We rented a cabin for a week in July. Great location with so many things to do nearby. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The deck had a great view of Lake Superior and felt private even though other cabins are right next door. We signed up for some of the included resort activities- highly recommended. As a family, we especially enjoyed paddle boarding on Lake Caribou, our guide and instructor was excellent. No equipment or experience needed - just sign up and let the resort take care of the rest.

Still on my trip!

Front desk gal wasn't entirely pleasant. Didn't say hello or anything, just told me I had a due balance on the room. Otherwise everything else has been great so far!

We visit the gondolas here every year and take the breathtaking ride over the valley over to the top of Moose Mountain, which offers a beautiful overlook, hiking and ski trails, and a good sandwich shop with a spacious balcony and lots of seating areas both inside and outside. The gondolas have been recently updated and are much larger than before, smooth, and modern. Best ride in the area. In the winter you can ski miles of trails, other times of year you can rent mountain bikes. A beautiful place, especially in the fall when the mountain becomes a cascade of color.

Phenomenal experience staying in the Poplar River Condos at the Lutsen Resort on Lake Superior! The views are superb, hiking trails are stellar, and the Strand Waterfront Dining Room was outstanding!

Was just there this past weekend for a girls getaway weekend and we stayed at one of the cabins. Beautiful place with amazing view of Lake Superior. The cabin was clean and kitchen is spacious. Staff was very nice and informative of daily activities. Will definitely stay there again.

Wonderful stay! Condos are amazingly well stocked and the views can't be beat. Staff is extremely accommodating and friendly, going above and beyond in service. Good hiking, great beaches. We will be back.

Classic family friendly resort right on the shore of Lake Superior. Skiing is easy with shuttle bus service, front door to steps from the gondola. a great vibe lobby with live music both the Saturday and Sunday we were there. Bring your wine or snacks or get some in the Pub and sit and relax with your family and friends, chat or read or play a board game. This is a historic building with old pine wall paneling and beams, the wifi is good, the staff is great and very helpful. Food is a little more expensive, but it's convenient and good tasting. My favorite place on the north shore - experience history!

Love this resort. This is the most charming place you can imagine. The staff is so friendly, the food is excellent and there are many activities to choose from. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else on the North Shore.

Beautiful place to stay for a good week to get away from everything. Cascade falls is pretty close to Grand Marais which is also a great little place to visit to get gifts or things for yourself. If you've never been, you should go.

We stayed in a pet friendly sea villa and enjoyed our stay greatly. We had unobstructed views of the water and enjoyed the sounds of the waves rolling in as we started a fire in our fireplace. It's convenient having a full kitchen available as well as a small patio area for grilling and taking in the views and staff were helpful and accommodating when my partner forgot his toothbrush at home.

My family and I have been coming here for many years. It is an excellent resort. There are all sorts of styles of places to stay in so you can choose, they are all nice. We usually stay in a sea villa, which is within 50 feet of lake superior. You can hear the waves crashing while sitting in your villa. Absolutely amazing. Tons of included activities if interested.

We recently stayed at Lutsen lodge, when we booked the room the picture looked really great. However the room was very dated, the bed frame was beaten up, the walls were scarred, the bathroom was very small and the shower controls were loose.
We loved being close to the lake, we saw beautiful sunsets and sunrises.
The staff were very standoffish. Over all we had a great time, because of the location not because of where we stayed.

Stayed NYE just to sleep. Radiator heating was insufficient (possibly not operating). Messed with the knob per instructions but nothing happened. Didn't turn on once. Had blanket and pillows so slept with those in addition to bedding. Not sure I'd call anywhere a resort that doesn't have modern amenities. Woke up for the breakfast buffet. Food was average quality from the buffet. Understaffed to the point of not even getting one water refill from our server within one hour. Sufficient place to sleep, but would have had better or more updated everything at a basic hotel. Not a bad stay, but a bit disappointing for the price.

We paid $600/night for 3 of us to stay in a 2.5 bedroom condo that was dirty and in absolute need of updating. There was urine on the toilet seat, the shelf in the bathroom was covered in old dust, the kitchen sink was wiped out definitely had not been cleaned, the furniture is at least 25 years old and is worn and looks and feels dirty, the mattress in the master bedroom was like sleeping on a sponge, the towels are old and worn, the TV screen is blurry (def no HD). I could go on and on. They left coffee but no sugar packets or cream for at least a cup of coffee for the first morning. The only nice thing was that it is right on lake superior. We have stayed at Bluefin before and for a little bit less (though not much) it was in much better condition. We will absolutely not be staying here again as it is absolutely overpriced for what you get.

We take a family vacation to the north shore yearly with our 4 children (ages 11, 9 and 5yr twins). We have stayed at Lutsen the last two years (but have been here 3 times in total) and plan on making it our yearly spot. Our kids love the private beach, smores/bonfires, swimming in superior, looking for rocks, the pool, and all the amazing hiking trails in and near Lutsen, etc. The food is good, the resort is clean and the staff is incredible! We highly recommend staying here!!

It is a very nice place to be. We love the old Lodge - the old pine structure and decor and the setting along Lake Superior. But the Resort also offers modern accommodations, too, including condos and town houses. There is always something to do. They offer activity directors and a variety of activities that go along with seasons. This wknd included learning to fly fish, yoga on the beach and some hiking options. We attended an outdoor wedding there and the staff was very professional and supportive of the wedding party and guests.

We have been coming to Lutsen for years. We love the atmosphere of the lodge. We typically stay in the Poplar River Condo but also like the cabins and just stayed in the Sea Villias (they are super close to the water, a bit older, cozy and quiter). We love eating at the lodge but miss some of the old menu items.

Stayed at the Sea Villas about 3 miles South of the main resort. It would have been a bad deal at half the price. Old crappy furniture and nothing fancy about the townhouse. After we pulled up through the gravel parking lot we knew we had made a mistake. For $300 a day we just had way higher expectations. Made us pay the entire balance for our visit at the time of check in. Would not have done that if I had seen the Townhouse. Wanted to leave the last night but they would not give our money back. Shop around, you can do a lot better for the money.
