Quaint, old fashioned lodge without all the modern amenities (no room A/C, just fans) but with more than enough character to make up for it. The guests treat each other like family as most seem to come back year after year and generation after generation. The pub actually feels like an English pub. Great place to unplug.

The wife and I went up there for our one year anni...

The wife and I went up there for our one year anniversary of marriage. Being our one year we wanted to go somewhere special, and seeing the posts on Facebook and the ads we were excited to book and stay there. After arriving there we soon found out it was not what we were expecting. When we got our room we found that for outlets they used surge protectors for more outlets, the cords were out and hanging everywhere. The tv itself only work on some channels, and the room had a weird odor to it. The bed was very uncomfortable and felt like the mattress was 20 +years old. It was very warm in the room and there was no thermostat to control it, so we opened a window to let some cool air in only to find out that our next door neighbors window was open and right next to us, they were extremely loud for the time of night, which caused us no to fall asleep till one in the morning. When I took a shower the next morning I noticed that the water coming out of the pipes was not that hot and had a foul odor to it also and the pipes that were exposed were missing their covers. I was not expecting this kind of quality from a place like this, it was more the same quality you would get from a cheep motel, I wished I would of took some pictures of the room. After our showers we found out that they also did not offer a Continental breakfast. For the money we spent I was thinking we would. I will say learn from our mistake that looks can be deceiving and I would not recommend staying there. It was a bad way to start off our anniversary celebration, and we were very disappointed leaving there.

I loved my stay here. I had a lakeview room, which I recommend for the price. The sound of the waves was soothing, the windows open to let in the fresh breeze, and the view was beautiful. The bathroom was a little small, but after all, the hotel was built in 1885. The room, as well as the hotel, was made of logs. The hotel reminded me of The Awahnee Inn in at Yosemite, but for a fraction of the price. The pool was enormous, and the grounds were spectacular, with a waterfall and a river emptying into the lake. The food was first rate and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. I wish I could have stayed longer.

I only booked for one night since we were snowboarding and traveling but the villa we stayed in was clean and tidy. The views were spectacular to wake up to and the breakfast even though its not complimentary was an awesome spread! Definitely will come back.

I enjoyed this spot, but the rental home was very cramped feeling with way too many stairs. Also, TV didn't work, doors wouldn't latch, and there were some other issues. Will not stay here again.
