I've had cause to go to the local Refuse Centre a few times recently and would just like to say how helpful the staff are. A credit to West Berkshire Council
The drivers speed down narrow lanes straddling both lanes almost totalled my van swerving out of the way and smashed my mirror off just wat u expect from a council.
Who or what designed their web site? Trying to book an appointment to visit the recycling centre during the pandemic and all I get presented with is a blank page.
Come on WBC get your act in gear.
Food waste bin has not been emptied in 6 weeks. Starting to smell now

Not good they don t give enough money to schools so I don t get a good education, my school is very poor and it is freezing cold and they only feed us pizza or baguettes for lunch and toast for breakfast because they can t afford anything else. It s frozen pizza as well it s really dirty and disgusting and the toilets don t work also the thermostat is broken but they took the duct tape of because they do not want anyone to find out. Please increase budget for schools

The distribution and management of funds in West Berkshire is appalling. If this was a privately run business senior staff members would lose their jobs.
Utterly appalling and not fit for purpose Council which needs shaking up urgently - phoned up last week to speak to somebody (a massive task in itself as this department is almost permanently on voice mail) to request a suspension of a parking bay as we are moving into new retail premises today. Told to fill in a form and mail it in by post with payment which I duly did. Assured this would be dealt with promptly. Called today 4 times and eventually got through to someone who 'found' my application but said he didn't have enough time to process it despite it being there for 3 working days. A totally frustrating and disgraceful display of inefficiency and red tape. Untrustworthy and dreadful local Council - if a private business ran itself on these lines it would be closed down or go bust. I would rate this 'Council' with 0 stars if possible. Those in charge need to address the dreadful level of customer care dished out to their rate payers and the nonchalant attitude and extremely poor communication skills of staff. Also just found out that this Council are complaining they cannot recruit staff, no wonder, and they are also under investigation for internal fraud. OOPS
Inconsistent application of rules; one house down our road can do anything without permission (build/ cut trees down/larger bins/ etc)...we apply and do the right thing....and get rejected without any reasoning. WBC no longer reply to any mails of mine! very poor.
Hopeless website, no tel numbers for individual departments. Lady cut me off before I had finished conversation. Search will not bring up department.
