My absolute darling grandmother broke her pelvis last Monday, and there wasn't a call to the family until Thursday. This one of several occasions where abuse and neglect has been prevalent. I can't comprehend how people treat the elderly like this. I'm livid. I'll be traveling to Ottawa the the very near future to voice my concerns in person.

Looked for a place for my father to move into, and after actually working at Lord Lansdowne I would never place a loved one here as the Chef and food are disgusting.... I am.a twenty plus year food service professional and would never do that to someone

My grandma lives at the Lord Lansdowne and she is so happy to be there. There are always so many activities and events for her to participate in. She is super social and has met a lot of other residents. Thank you for making her stay there so memorable.

My Mother-in-law has lived at the Lord Lansdowne for over a year. Over the last 6 months the situation has gone from good to downright dangerous. The entire senior staff has turned over, the new people are unable to keep staff resulting in poor service to the residents. The dining room was a welcoming place when my MiL first moved there is now a total mess, under staffed with a series of untrained and stressed new people that leave once they see how bad things have gotten. The price of visitors meals has gone up and the service is non-existent. The understaffing extends to the front desk that is frequently unattended. Chartwell seems to have failed to learned the lessons from the death of Gilles Duceppe's mother and left the front door set at night so that the residents could exit but could not reenter. Discussions with Chartwell management have not lead to any improvements. The general manager has been publicly venditive to some employees for no apparent reason. I would strongly recommend that anyone seeking responsible care for the senior in your family look elsewhere as it looks like the problems we are seeing are going to get worse rather than better.

Upon discharge from double, partial- knee replacement surgery I went to respite at the Lord Lansdowne in the Glebe where I enjoyed a lovely studio flat with fantastic care and excellent meals. There is a fabulous team of professionals there with very thoughtful staff that assisted in my pain management and anything else that I required. Within a few days I was able to work from my flat with the benefit of wi-fi, as well as enjoy a record-breaking recovery thanks to the team and supportive environment at Lord Lansdowne. As a Realtor, I had the opportunity to experience retirement living and to better understand the transition that many of my clients are about to face. In my experience, Lord Lansdowne was safe, caring, clean, and I enjoyed the food and special care.

It feels like a wonderful choice for active and supportive retirement living. I would not hesitate to recommend Lord Lansdowne.

In the four years my mom has lived at Lord Lansdowne this retirement /assisted living home, has gone downhill fast. Management and DOC have a very high turnover rate. Excellent staff being fired or leaving often.( that alone is a serious problem. In the four years my mom has been there, management and DOC have change about 4x's each) Programming for the two locked floors are limited as the people on those floors are NOT allowed to go downstairs anymore for programming and have to stay on the locked floor. In MY OPINION ,this has to do with the fact that management doesn't want potential residents seeing any of these persons as it may turn them off from wanting to reside there. Utterly shameful and disgusting!!! This rule has come from management, and has nothing to do with the wonderful person who does the programs for these two floors.
Four years ago, i would have given this place a 5 star. I had to give it a one star to post it, but really it's a zero.

My father died on Thursday Oct. 1st 2020. The last time I saw him smile was when we were in the hospital and I told him he was going back home to Lord Lansdowne. He has lived there for over 5 years and was not particularly easy to get along with. The staff there however, no matter what, were kind, patient and very caring. They are truly amazing people. He usually criticized things about his experiences with hospitality services in his life but NEVER had a bad thing to say about this retirement residence. I could not believe how caring and loving the staff were there, it was like he was truly their family. They treated him so well I could never thank them enough. Anything we needed they took care of immediately without hesitation. The rooms were cleaned daily, the food was top flight and they always called us immediately when something was wrong. I would highly recommend this retirement home to anyone who really wants the best quality of life for their loved ones. We were there often and saw that 5 stars is not high enough.
