I cannot express enough gratitude and thanks to the nurses and staff at Lord Chamberlain. The care and compassion they provided to my mom and to the whole family was above and beyond. They are truly angels on Earth.

My mom has loved her experience here, she's lived at Lord Chamberlain for three years now. The nursing staff is courteous and they care for her as if she was family. I think this is the perfect place for my mother to be.
Not all it's reputed to be. You really have to stay on top of things for your family member. My father went in for short term rehab, specifically for pulmonary rehab. The respiratory therapist saw him twice then went on vacation. They only have one respiratory therapist at the facility. There were several medical errors made. I fortunately have a background in medicine so I know what to ask and what to look for but if I didn't, there could have been some bad outcomes. The physical therapists/occupational therapists are hard working, dedicated and thorough. The nursing staff is pleasant but the reported ratio of 14 patients to each nurse is untrue. It's more like 19 or 20 to 1. It's probably still better than most places, but don't be dazzled by the fancy decor.
Was only there for two days. The staff was nice but the food was not editable it was discusting.the man in room across from me begged for pain meds for hours and was ignored.he was screaming. I got myself out of there fast
We had a horrible experience here. I'd always heard good things about Lord Chamberlain so naturally, we chose the facility based on what we'd heard. My husband was there for 11 days. Every day, he called me with ostomy emergencies (new to us due to emergency surgery). By the time I arrived, the nurse hadn't even been to his room- they would shut off the call so they could ignore him. On average, the nurse showed up an HR after the first call button was pressed. The nurse's are stretched very very thin and they are obviously miserable working there. One nurse told me she'd already spent enough time with him that morning and 'absolutely could not go back in there'. We really needed help that day. The nurse came in the next day and in front of my husband's visitor, told my husband that we were going to 'make her get written up'. His care was compromised even more after that. Overall, in my opinion, it's a dangerous place to be for surgery rehab as well as filthy and understaffed. Flies constantly flew around my husband's room on top of everything else. If you want your loved one to be cared for appropriately, please save yourself a multitude of heartache and go somewhere else, anywhere else. The day after I picked him up from Lord Chamberlain, he spent 3 days in the hospital recovering from kidney failure, which was part of the reason we'd gone to L.C. in the first place. Horrible staff, horrible food, horrible admins who pass the buck constantly and overall, horrible experience. We're lucky he survived.
Having left the hospital after major surgery with a script from my amazing surgeon of one or two percasets the dr at this place me EVALUATED For one only. Being in extream pain I requested that they call dr dos to see why he made that evaluation WITHOUT my seeing him or any other Dr or evern the supervising nurse. They placed three calls to him and he never called them back. It was not till My blood pressure went up and they called his home at 3am did he give me the second pain pill. It is 3:45 n the morning and as soon as it is light I will call my husband to take me out of here. I will be safer at home.
I am not a fan of any nursing home, however this particular nursing home was recommended by a very reliable source and my mother in law was taken in for short term rehab... they have an awesome staff, admission answered all my questions and concerns, also coordinated with us as the family to do the transportation to and from scheduled Drs visits, head nurse on my MILs floor was pretty good at keeping us the family updated regularly with her personal progress and upcoming appointments, the nursing staff was very nice to both my MIL, and us the family. I witnessed nice/fair treatment towards my MIL and other patients. I give it 4 out 5 stars because they had a nurse who's attitude towards us the family during discharge was to scare us in to think worse possible scenarios... she had me at the point of a panic attack! And their communication with the patients family in our case was on ask and we tell you basis.
This place has SIGNIFICANTLY depleted with care, overall performance, communication and cleanliness. Awful experience. Poor poor nursing staff who rather sit and talk then do what family members ask. NO COMMUNICATION. It was a game of pass the buck for two weeks. Poor!!!!!
I DON'T SEE ANYTHING SPECIAL ABOUT THIS PLACE, I DO BELIEVE IT IS WAY OVER RATED, JUST ANOTHER MONEY MAKING OPERATION, THEY TAKE PEOPLE TO THERAPY, WHO CAN AND WILL NEVER MOVE AGAIN, WHOSE MINDS ARE COMPLETELY GONE, JUST SO THEY CAN CHARGE MORE MONEY.
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. REALLY wish I read these reviews before my husband went here, but he had already told the hospital this was where he wanted to go. The staff is outright rude. They dropped him in a room and into a chair when he got there and told him not to move and left him there for 2 hours unsupervised and never checked on him. They messed up all his medications and it took until the next day for him to get any pain meds since they didn't have the order in so he wasn't comfortable at night and didn't sleep well. They have no patience with him and are very short with him I have noticed. I feel awful leaving him there and wish there was an alternative, but after major emergency back surgery, I had nowhere else to put him. Go somewhere else! Doesn't seem like any of these nurses like their jobs nor want to be there!
UPDATED 12/27/15 Lord Chamberlain Administration is admonishing Supervisor who "wrote up" the this incident, even after hearing the facts. Said Supervisor "rushed to judgement" by documenting the facts. NO,by writing this incident up the Supervisor was, in fact, doing her job! It is now the job of Administration to deal with the facts and the male nurse. Its clear, already, that this current Administration does not tolerate factual documentation, turns the blame onto its Supervisor, and therefore not take any disciplinary action. Per regulatory agencies, incidents should not be swept under the rug. AND this is a re- portable incident both inside and outside of Lord Chamberlain to regulatory agency. Our family has lodged a complaint today (12/26/15) due to gross negligence and blatant dishonesty by a male nurse on Christmas Day, resulting in Mom NOT receiving her heart and blood thinner medications, while under his watch.Administration is currently meeting to decide what they will do about this dishonest, incompetent and dangerous male staffer. This person needs to be fired. At the least he will never be involved in Mom's care again. His bad behavior has made us lose confidence in this facility. So,regardless of the outcome, please BE VIGILANT , ask questions, and more importantly pop into the facility early in the am to see for yourself. Besides the medication error and cover up yesterday, this am Mom did not have breakfast, was not washed up, was not dressed until family popped in this am. Also took over 12 minutes for staff to respond to her call. She needs help getting up. This was witnessed by family this am. Mom has been in LChamberlain less than a week. She had pneumonia and needs to have physical therapy to regain her strength. These are the FACTS because they were witnessed by family..On Christmas day family observed pills in a cup in her room. When her male nurse was asked by family why the pills were there, he lied and said he gave Mom her pills. ( Nurse always wait while patient takes all meds brought into room)Then he proceeded to remove the pills from her room. This was witnessed by family. So he failed TWICE to give medications, the second time when he took them away. then lied to family, who knew better. Today,he is maintaining his lie to administration and saying Mom does not take those meds. That's an absolutely illogical cover up story. This is unacceptable. Depending on the outcome of Admin. " investigation" we may be taking Mom out of there. Be so advised.
My dad was in there for 2 and 1/2 weeks and although he declined while he was in there, I ll put that aside since he is sick. The communication from everyone there is terrible. Kathy Collins, the discharge manager has done nothing to ensure my dad is being discharged in a safe manor. They are just passing the buck to home health. My dads oncologist, the social worker and nurse case worker from anthem told me they ve never experienced someone so unprofessional and with such a poor discharge plan, and they deal with this all day. People can debate the level of care and medical cases are all different, but as a family member of someone in there, it s been an awful, stressful experience and I do not recommend them.
If I could rate this place a zero I would. The nursing staff is horrible, my mom didn't get any help to wash her up 4 days, left her on the toilet 3 times for over a half hour (she is 82 years old with fraction disks) the nurses are heartless. The food shouldn't be served to a dog nevermind a human. They better hope they never end up in a place like that or their own parent.
My 82 year old brother was there for short term rehab after a clavicle fracture, heart irregularity, and dysphagia. They discharged him after a week - citing medicare regs - without adequate communication with or participation by the family, without a safe discharge plan, with minimal progress, inability to safely ambulate, inability to care for himself, and no set services. They said their hands were tied. I agree. their hands were tied by their own greed. They get two stars only because their line staff - CNA's, PT's, etc were good.
I was a patient in the Manor twice and received excellent care from a friendly and knowledgeable staff. My Mother was also a patient in the Manor for almost a year. The staff were so wonderful to her and to our whole family. We couldn't have been more pleased with her care! The entire facility went out of their way to make sure that Mom was comfortable and happy.
Please be cautious about using this facility for rehabilitation for an elderly family member. The daily services are mostly adequate but there is very poor communication with families. My 93 year old mother was told that she had to leave on the day after a long holiday weekend on the Friday before. Her insurance benefits had not run out. No discussion, no advance notice to family members who lived out of state. Phone calls were not returned, no one available to discuss. I would never use this facility for a loved one again. I have had other family members in other rehab hospitals in a different part of the state and this type of disrespectful behavior never occurred elsewhere.
