The small size pizza is quite a big serve actually. Service was great too!
The small size pizza is quite a big serve actually. Service was great too!
Not my favorite, I like thick crust and lots of cheese. Great service and very friendly staff.
Apparently the first Pizza in America.
Waited outside in -10 Celsius weather for this and sadly we were disappointed.
Maybe at one time it truly was a good Pizzeria but now it seems to concentrate on the Brand more than good quality pizza.
We had a "White" pizza which was really dry and pretty tasteless. We left half of the pizza as we couldn't finish it.
If you are looking for authentic "Italian" pizza I would seek out Neapolitan Style Pizza as this style is the original and having eaten it multiple times in Italy it is far nicer than the pizza we had here.
Pizza is pretty good, but the sauce is out of this world. Next time I go I'm just getting breadsticks and sauce.
This place is average at best. Plastic plates and cups, really? $4 for a soda and charges for refills. This is a place that will nickle and dime you.
Awesome pizza, with amazing sauce. Soda refills are extra and it is a cash only establishment, which detracts a bit from the overall experience.
Come at off times. Else be ready for long lines. Pizza is solid classic thin crust. Definitely worth at least a try.
I mean it's pizza, just ask not to seated in the basement it's a little sad down there and takes away from the ambiance of the place
Very good service !!!! Wide and fast very tasty food !!!
Recommend the double pepperoni, was excellent. Atmosphere is rustic and comfortable. Cash only, which is a pain but had ATM on site.
I read that this is the best and first pizza place in NYC. The pizza was ok. The base was kind of soft and not hard. I didn't find it to be the best ive ever had.
Everything was so good! Bread sticks as sauce, cesar salad, wedge salad and the tradition margarite pizza were shared by 4 people and everything was a hit all around. Must go.
One of the best pizzas I've ever had in new york. Got Brushetta and Meatballs, both of which were great appetizers, and the pizza was outstanding. Amazing crust, sauce was just right, and they had enough cheese so that it wasn't all over the place. Very satisfying. Also the pictures all over the walls of the history of this place were cool to look at while we ate.
I have passed this place several times & decided to join the wait line. Once I was seated I began looking around my surroundings. The decor takes you to a time when people cared about the customers, brick walls, photos of people who have graced these doorsteps down to the tablecloths. The wait service was exceptional. I ordered a margarita pizza and now I'm trying to talk myself in not going back at least 3-4 times a week. You have to take your time & savor the flavors, the homemade cheese, the crust and the fresh tomatoes. It's worth the wait. I will be back & hope to see you there.
The pizza was so good! I would go there again! I am so excited to go again. The people were really nice.
The food in this Italian restaurant is fine and the service is correct, but having to pay 35 dollars for a special pizza seems to me to be very disproportionate despite the fame of the place. I tried it precisely for being so famous but I will not repeat.
,, I must stop and eat while you're in New York City you won't be sorry!
Great atmosphere and vibes! The Caesar salad and the bruschetta were so fresh and tasty, which made me feel a lot better having a pizza after!
The wait time wasn t too long either, and we could enjoy a bevvy by the bar. The bartender was really friendly!
Service - 5/5
Quality - 5/5
Ambience - 5/5
Love the pizza. The size was huge. And it taste good.
Tourist trap. Pizza is right but alcohol is a bit overpriced.
Good pizza, 1 hour wait, small 1 topping and water, $60 w tip. Rushed to leave.
You've tried the rest, now try the best. The first and the best pizza in NY and in my opinion, any where. I eat and love pizza. This is the place.
Sauce that is made fresh from tomatoes, no added sugars or spices, a great mozzarella cheese, and made in coal fired ovens.
If you ever thought all pizza was good, or you go to those chains, make the trip. It will change your pizza life.
This is the best of the best.
Too expensive they charge i believe $3 for water that you literally watch them take from the tap its absurd. Yes the pizza is good but expect your wallet to leave a lot lighter then when you came in. Also they are cash only!!
It's not very famous. It's expensive, but it's delicious. Even at lunch, the pimaek was so delicious
Possibly the best pizza I have ever tasted this side of heaven, even though I am not a pizza fan.... This quaint little pizza spot is world renown. Be prepared to wait as it gets extremely full with tourists and locals alike. This is a must see spot. Even though hubby and I had a simple margherita, I sure have not forgotten the pleasant taste, smell and little extras added to the take away... a little chilli, herbs and parmesan NB be prepared to pay a pretty penny!
It was acceptable. Unfortunately our waiter must have been having a rough time because both my daughter's drink and dinner order were incorrect. The issue was rectified by a new order, but it was a very disappointing experience overall.
Without a doubt the first pizzeria in America. Excellent treatment to Mexicans and a very cozy atmosphere. The taste excellent. Of course I would come back.
Lombardi's is the first pizzerias established ever in the US. (I believe if it had not closed down for a couple of years in the early 1900s, it would also get to truthfully claim the oldest.)
For foodies and pizza aficionados, it's a place you should try for the sake of experiencing history. It serves up a New York-Neapolitan style pizza. (The difference being that a true Neapolitan Pizza should be the way they have it in Naples... Lombardi's, Grimaldi's, Patsy's are all New York-Neapolitan.) Pizza has evolved over the years. It would be a shame to not know where it all started in the US.
Personally, I think the pizza is good but I don't think it's stellar. The crust is chewy or springy enough. The underbelly is often under charred. The tomato sauce is also on the watery side. With toppings, I find that the slice often falls apart.
This being said, you should still have this as a good reference point in your pizza eating.
One of the best Pizza's in NYC. They start around $20-25. Be sure to take a picture near the old oven.
Goo pizza, but not nearly as good as I remembered. Booze was terrible and waiting line is for suckers.
Make sure you bring cash! Food was good but very small menu
Don't be fooled; America's first pizzeria still undoubtedly remains one of it's best, and it's worth every penny! The atmosphere is the piece de resistance, and the staff is truly great!
Interesting authentic interior, and most importantly delicious pizza to the songs of Frank!
Nothing special .. pizza tastes .. but for me it is NOT a must. More handling of customers, collecting money and bye. Attention: only cash is accepted here. Card payment is not possible ... But the owner made sure of that and put an ATM in the restaurant. Much blah blah for nothing. Had to wait 50 minutes for a seat .. After we had eaten the pizza the bill came right away .. finally there were other customers waiting outside ;-)
It was alright maybe one of the oldest pizza joints but definitely not the best in NYC.
Nice place to eat
Must visit
Always treat out of town friends here. Fresh and tasty pizza always. Longs lines however so be weary of when you go. Olive and sausage makes a good combo
No, but you are Serious ???
Accustomed to the good opinion of Google I let myself be tempted by this pizzaria ...
Rather empty
We install you
We throw you 2 plates in cartons
2 plastic cups
Count $ 55 for a pizza for 2 (3 spikes per person) and all really
Very disappointed
I strongly advise against
Ps: CASH ONLY
....
The pizza is good and staff are friendly. However, a little bit on the expensive side. The wait was only 5mins for us. Visitors must know that they only accept cash! There's an ATM inside the restaurant which charges $3.99 per transaction. We had a large pizza with 2 toppings and a pitcher of drink which was about $60 including the tip. I guess it's an average price for New York but I won't normally pay so much for a pizza. But if you are just visiting New York, you can visit Lombardi's for the history of the place. Nonetheless, if I was a local New Yorker, Lombardi's won't be my regular pizzeria.
This is by far my favorite pizzeria. I'm sure to hit this place every time I'm in the city. The food is always fast and delicious. Be sure to bring cash.
Great pizza was good and the meatballs were amazing the sauce is out of this world
The environment is not thick, the taste is good, the service is very thoughtful
Amazing pizza. From first bite, your mouth will do a series of hskshfkshch while trying to manage the blazing hot tomato sauce and cheese that will ignite your upper palate. Fight through this and savor every bite. Best pizza ever, I guarantee it. I usually top my pizza off with peperoni sausages.....
if you interested in dessert afterwards, go over to rice to riches and treat yourself to some rice pudding.
These iconic duos make a great trip to Soho. The travel is worth it.
Good pizza, a bit busy and not the most comfortable
Highly recommend the classic margarita pizza! That way you have an absolute burst of flavor from the tomatoes and mozzarella not overcrowded by toppings!
Never again !!!! this is not PIZZA !!!!! Italian attention do not be fooled by the name of the restaurant, bad pizza!
First pizza in america? Youre gonna come here whether its good or bad. But no worries its good. Right amount of chew to crunch ratio on this simple pizza.
Really good pizza. Service is good, they were nice to let me and my pregnant wife to bypass the line.
There was a 20 minute line to get in. The wait was worth it. I loved the pizza.
Eh. I got suckered into the hype of the super authentic NY pizza. It may be authentic, but it just wasn't that good to my pizza sensibilities. The cheese had no flavor and the sauce was more like mashed tomatoes. I appreciate the history of the place but I would certainly never eat here again or suggest anyone ever go there.
I feel like the price is up but the large pizza is not as large as it once was and the topics are not quite as generous as they once were.
We arrived with many expectations.
We find an acceptable pizza. Without pain or glory.
Carry cash.
Historic place, the disign, the music , evrything is realy nice.
the grandmas meatballs as a starter were perfect! the pizza is good, servise is good.
just 1 reastroom.
Really bad really disappointed really fake atmosphere really expensive 75$ including tips 2pizzas 1 bottle red wine - 4th January 2018
Margherita is generally a good test and they managed to failed it properly: hard like stale, tasteless cheese, bad tomato sauce. Worst was to come with the Calzone, just check the picture . Not even talking of the wine ...
Management is same as in fast-foods
NB you eat in plastic plate with plastic knife
Ruined my night
Pizza is rather expensive for the size and wait. Have to pay more to get glasses with water. I'd highly recommend going to Joe's Pizza instead. Single slice is about 1/3rd of a whole pizza at Lombardi's. Plus the prices are so much better.
More than 100USD (cadh only, of course) for 2 pizzas, 2 starters and one large sparkling water... should I say the pizza are not even good, just average ? Should I add the service is just bad (except before check out for the tips, of course...)
Tourists trap. The worst I experienced.
Tourist trap. Bad pizza (yes bad ) worst calzonne. 110 years doing bad pizza. Far far away from Napolitan pizza. Dry and. not tasty. Cardboard cutlery ....cash only of course . 4 that they still Italian
Foods was amazing, very fresh ingredients and the best bruschetta ever. Very quick service and we were able to just walk right in and get seated on a Friday night. Cash only but they have all ATM inside to accommodate.
Nice pizza. Very popular friendly staff. Quick service bit of a wait to get seated.
Always wanted to go, happy I did. Pizza oven has been there over 110 Years. Fresh ingredients. Very good.
A nice novelty, being the first pizza place in America, but the pricing does not match the taste of the food unfortunately.
This is always an experience and the authentic coal-fired pizza is amazing. If you have never been here make sure you try it. Do yourself a favor and walk past the kitchen to view the very old coal oven. Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!
Frank Pepe's in New Haven is better especially with clams
Good service, pizza is awesome, prepare yourself to wait but that s part of the experience. From 25$ to 35$ for a big pizza (2, 3 persons)
Excellent pizza and attention. They took us to see the oven. Very kind and attentive.
Typical American Italian pizzeria. The pizza lacked more sauce, the products are good, but it is very dry.
The pizza was so good I had to destroy the pizza and didn't have a chance to take picture first.
Lombardi's Pizza and Restaurant: A Legacy of Authentic Italian Cuisine
For over a century, Lombardi's Pizza and Restaurant has been serving up some of the best pizza in New York City. Founded in 1905 by Gennaro Lombardi, an Italian immigrant who brought his bakers trade from Naples to the United States, Lombardi's is credited with developing New York-style pizza as we know it today.
From its humble beginnings as a small grocery store on Spring Street in Little Italy, Lombardi's has grown into a beloved institution that attracts locals and tourists alike. Today, the restaurant is located on Mott Street in Nolita (North of Little Italy), where it continues to serve up its famous coal-fired pizzas along with a variety of other classic Italian dishes.
At Lombardi's, everything is made from scratch using only the freshest ingredients. The dough for their pizzas is hand-tossed and topped with San Marzano tomatoes imported from Italy, fresh mozzarella cheese, and other high-quality toppings like pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers and more.
But Lombardi's isn't just about pizza. They also offer a wide range of appetizers like bruschetta al pomodoro (toasted bread topped with fresh tomatoes), antipasto platters (featuring cured meats like prosciutto di Parma), salads (like their signature Caesar salad) and pasta dishes (like spaghetti carbonara or linguine alle vongole).
One thing that sets Lombardi's apart from other pizzerias is their use of coal-fired ovens. These ovens reach temperatures upwards of 800 degrees Fahrenheit which gives their pizzas a unique flavor profile that can't be replicated by gas or electric ovens.
In addition to its delicious food offerings,Lombardis also boasts an extensive wine list featuring both domestic and imported wines selected to complement your meal perfectly.
But what really makes Lombardis special is its rich history. As one of the oldest pizzerias in America,Lombardis has been featured on numerous TV shows including "Man vs Food"and "The Food Network". It has also been recognized by various publications such as Zagat Guide,Bon Appetit Magazine, and The New York Times for its outstanding cuisine.
Overall,Lombardis Pizza & Restaurant offers an authentic taste of Italy right here in New York City.Their commitment to quality ingredients, freshly prepared food, and exceptional service make them one-of-a-kind dining experience that should not be missed!
