Loftus Hall is well worth a visit, whilst unfinished, the tour seems short but with a good tour guide like Paul we got, that shortness disappears. We had Yogi a puppy in training to be an Assistance Dog to a child with Autism as well our 3 children and All had a great time. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating, with Yogi getting treated like royalty from start to finish. The gardens a beautiful & the cafe has a lot to offer. Go on tour it if you Dare.

Loftus hall is historical buildings that dates back to 16th century. The tour is 45 mins long and cost 30 for family. There is nice restaurant which serves a wide selection of food and drink. This is must visit if you are in the area of hook head.

Really enjoyed the tour. It was eerie with lots of jumpy moments. The tapestry room was freaky. I like that they have a child friendly tour as well as an adults only tour. So much history to this house both scary and sad. The actors were all excellent. Very real. I would go back again.

Omg wat a .great tour we got of tis hse. The guide was absoloutly very gud in explaining the history behind it in a fun dramatic way. From the off set if he picks up ur nervous well u will be the one most likely to participate in his scenes exc tey get a group of u to sit down at a table where the card game took place may I add in a low lit room won't tell ye the rest keep tat as a surprise for u all. . I was so nervous from the off from wen he opened the latch I tink I screamed and from tan on he must have frightened the bejaysus out of me it's funny now looking bk on it but wasn't wen I was doing the tour every time I screamed the poor guy beside me jumped. By all means it a fabulous tour wit everything explained in detail wit just a bit of fun thrown in. I wud highly recommend it.

Great tour, friendly staff!

Great tour, friendly staff!

Would recommend this place highly while you have the chance as it will be finishing up soon! After taking part in this tour, I was very sad to hear that they won't be able to continue this tour as the building is up for sale, but very glad we got to see it!

Very creepy, yet beautiful house. The stories behind it are sad, yet interesting and anyone with an open mind & good imagination would love it.

We were also informed that they couldn't perform jump scares due to Covid-19 (which I was grateful for) but I don't think the tour even needs them since the place is so creepy on its own anyway! (We wore masks and kept our distance from eachother)

Beautiful area surrounding it, and Hook Lighthouse is nearby as well which I would also highly recommend!

Our tour guide was very funny and kept you interested throughout, and the girl at the welcome desk was very friendly & helpful too!

Great start to our staycation!

It is said that in the eighteenth century the family opened the door to a man during a storm.
This man had goat feet and once discovered the lady who lived in the house went mad and was locked up in a room where he found death.
But apparently his ghost still wanders.

The walled garden is nice and the restaurant/coffee shop serve a good variety of food and drinks, I can recommend the cappuccino and the apple pie and fresh cream. The house tours run all day, it's an interesting historic house to visit when down Hook Head.

I enjoyed the tour for the most part I think I would have enjoyed it more had it been adult only or later at night perhaps as I'm sure it was, quite rightly, toned down for the young ones in the group with us. Our tour guide Mary was animated and engaging throughout, and all staff I met there were cheerful and friendly.

On the downside I felt that the 2 charge on parking after having paid a tenner each for the tour, as well as paying for teas and coffee and snacks etc., was a little much and it felt greedy if I'm being honest. Would be far more inviting if parking were free.

Overall I would go again, perhaps to one of their lock in events. It's a beautiful ruin of a hall with a lot of interesting architectural points even if you're not into the ghost angle and it's location is unsurpassed.

I went here today with the family it was a great experience. I learned more history about the place & it did feel airy in it. Kids loved it & Dylan the tour guide was abouslote brilliant. Only down fall to it is I would of liked to of seen more of the building, didn't see upstairs & not every room down stairs so hopefully next visit more rooms will be restored!

Had a great time today on the 12.30pm tour. Olly our tour guide was really enthusiastic and we loved listening to his wealth of knowledge about Loftus Hall.
Great to see such strict adherence to CoVid guidelines and all staff are to be commended on this.
Really sorry to hear that this year will be the last year of tours at Loftus Hall as we would certainly love to return.

Absolutely loved this place went there for Halloween event which was prepared in theatrical style with great narration and few surprises along the way. Kids loved it, we loved it and you will love it too. Only downside is a shame that such a great building is in such a terrible condition. Hopefully it will be fully restored at some stage

Interesting place with a mysterious history it's definitely worth a visit as the guides are super nice and friendly also scary during the tours (as it should be in this case) special shotout to Calum who guided us through this haunted mansion and told what happened there years ago. It's also easy for a foreigners to understand (e.g for me because I'm German) since they also have a translated version of the tour. 5/5

The most haunted house in the world, in a beautifu...

The most haunted house in the world, in a beautiful setting, set near the end of the Hook penninsula, and near very near the oldest working lighthouse in the world, the Hook Lighthouse.

In the past, this large house had failed (as a hotel, etc) due to it being so haunted. However, today, the opposite is happening. People have changed and are not seeking adventure. Due to it being very haunted, this magnificent house is becoming a very popular place to visit with ghost hunters and others alike, especially during Samhain/Hallowe'en when they hold special events, including an overnight event. Well worth it.

Only problem that I have is that you have to pay for parking. Although very near the Hook lighthouse, it is too far away to use it as a overflow car park, so I don't think there is a good reason to charge people for using the car park. After all, they will be here only to visit the house.

Great tour guide Paul. Had some paninis in the cafe, young person behind the counter should either use food gloves or a food handler and not handle them with bare hands, other than that, highly recommend a visit.

Good tour. Fun and interactive - expected it to be more scary. Disappointing it was too short and that you have to book a separate more expensive tour to see all 3 floors of the house. Gardens are beautiful.

Was part of a group of 9 visiting this last night for the Paranormal Investigation lockdown. Price 75 per person.Stated that the investigation starts at 8:30pm, but it didn't start until 9:15pm.
5 different room sessions of approx 45 minutes a session, with breaks in between.
As somewhat of a skeptic (but open minded), it was enjoyable to listen to the first 2 guides talk about some of the history of the house, and about people that lived there, as we're quite inexperienced with investigations of this type. Their help with guiding us on questions to ask was very helpful, even though we did not experience much "activity". (Thank you Chris for the demonolgy piece + lady that gave us the session in the tapestry room)
The guides in the final 3 sessions were less experienced than the first two, in terms of answering some questions we had on how to move the investigation forward + on history of the house. The final 2 guides in the final chapel session were downright disinterested, and didn't share any helpful experience with us to help our own investigation, even after us asking them about their experiences. In the last session, the girl made an inappropriate comment about spirits could follow us home. (Her male colleague told her not to say this to us however)

Loftus hall, please invest in training for your staff on history of the hall, presentation skills, and get in people with genuine enthusiasm for what they are doing.
If the guides for the final 3 sessions were as forthcoming with help + experience as the first two guides for a group as clearly as inexperienced as our own, this would be a 4 star review instead of a 2 star review.
A group of 9x 75 is scandalous when your own staff aren't interested in helping with the sessions.

I was visiting the Hook Lighthouse and seen the sign for Loftus Hall and ventured in. Now I had a look at the other reviews and I cant understand how anyone could give this anything over a 3 star rating. Its free in but you must pay 2 to get out? The stately house is boarded up, it looks derelict. The gardens are just full of grass, only the middle walkway has any flowers. The visitor center is so dark its impossible to read the information displayed under the photos. There is a nice restaurant or coffee shop, a brick a brack shop, toilets but really unless your really stuck to use the toilet or have a coffee, then I really don't get it. Only half a mile up the road you have Hook Lighthouse with far more attractions and amenities, so please don't waste your time and skip this for a visit, because its simply not worth it. Sorry I have to be honest.

Great location, fascinating house and history. The kids a little disappointed that the tour wasn't scary enough, and was limited to downstairs as upstairs not safe enough yet to take large groups. However the craftsmanship of the mosaic tile floor, staircase, ceilings etc is amazing. Is definitely a work in progress, will take time and money to restore more of the house, but it is great to see a fine house like this being restored after being disused for years. Outside, the walled garden is beautiful and will get better with time. I see that they have also put in some glamping huts in the next garden, to be opened at some point in future. Well worth a visit.
