Little Rock zoo has grown over the years but has a long way to go
We live out of State and thought this Zoo would be awesome for our 3yr old grandson but it wasn't. The whole place was pretty much under construction and the admission lady failed to give us that information. A lot of animals weren't in their habitats and barricades everywhere. The train wasn't running and the Faris wheel cost extra. Very disappointing.
Excellent entry fee, big carousel, beautiful animals.
Full price admission with so many exhibits closed including the entire amphibian building
I went with a group of 26 people. It was a good experience. The staff was helpful in getting everyone in quickly. There were volunteers walking around with miniature ponies and reptiles. The volunteers were very nice and let my group take pictures of the animals they had with them.
Great time here saw many animals. A couple no shows but the heat of the day had everyone hiding in the shade. Over all very fun day!
Small zoo with some nice habitat. Still needs some work, and land for expansion, but nice. Priced at $13 plus $3 to park.
We went on dollar day and it was so fun,I've never been but it was a great experience.
Wish the bigger cats were in bigger spaces other than that cages looked pretty good and my family had a great time!
Always a good place to bring the kids for the afternoon!!
Very good time on a sunny fall day. Would go again when we are in town.
Food court WAS NICE.
WISH THE TRIAN RIDE WAS LONGER. Coinchanger machines NEED TO BE REPAIRED. They were out of order.
(WE COUNDNT BUY FOOD TO FEED FISH.)
BATHROOMS WERE CLEAN.
The carousel ride was fun.
Wind Machine was fun.
Feeding the birds nector was fun.
Wish they had Elephant rides.
A craft area to learn about animals would be nice.
Aroma scents would be a added plus inside the zoo.
A scavenger hunt around the zoo with a reward system of some type of patches would be nice. Maybe even use GPS tracking.
Interactive maps on the website would be nice.
A place to purchase fruit and bananas to feed the animals would be fun.
Even a place to purchase toys to give to the gorillaz to play with would be fun.
Love the zoo. There are some ongoing renovations to navigate, but that's a great sign! Keep up the good work.
Nice zoo... new exhibits are being added. You can spend most of the day here. Fun for all ages. Scooters are available to rent for those in need.
yaaaaaahhhhh,zooooo,,,,,allllll,,funnn,here at ARKANSAS ZOO
Very kind staff. Animals well taken care of and seemed to be loved.
We enjoy it but it is very small compared to Memphis zoo
The LR Zoo has been part of raising our daughter since she was teeny tiny. They are taking good COVID measures; you can feel safe here. Our Zoo has never been about seeing ALL the animals that are a draw at a bigger zoo. For us, it's the perfect sized "park" with play areas and, bonus, there's animals! The membership price is a bargain just to have an outdoor place to go whenever we like. We don't feel any pressure there. It's easy, relaxing, and fun.
I didn't have any complaints. They had quite a few different exhibits with plenty of animals to see. Not as big as Memphis, but I enjoyed the fewer people and cheaper prices than Memphis. Would definitely go back!
Took my wife and 3 boys Tuesday 11/15. Was a giant waste of time, over half of the exhibits where closed or with no animals. Also all the snack bars where closed including the African safari lounge. So it cost $60 to go with only a few animals to look at.
All the animals look miserable. It was sad. No penguins, giraffe, snake, lizard, alligator or crocs. But the barn area was full of animals. You know petting zoo animals. And NO you CAN'T pet them. What animals they do have are just left there. There is no animal/zookeeper bonding or playing going on. I will save my money and take my daughter to the Memphis zoo. Where she can have a REAL zoo experience!!
NO ONE AT THE ZOO IS ENFORCING THE MASK RULE OF 10 AND UP, SO BEWARE.
Kinda was awesome... Kinda sucked. So there were a lot of animals not out which really blows. At the same time they had elephants which is awesome. I have mixed feelings about this zoo because it seems like they have a lot of species but there were so many cages saying "animal is off exhibit" or they just wouldn't be out.
I was there a long time ago I do recommended but you go there for all the families and even individuals will be going soon again
Its a nice little zoo. We got the family membership which pays for itself in two trips and I see it as supporting a local attraction. Is it the best zoo? No, but its nice way to spend a Saturday
I loved this zoo! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The exhibits were well designed and maintained. There seemed to be a good amount of enrichment for the animals in their individual enclosures. I will be back again and again!
Great zoo!! We were here during a school family night and we had a great time. The location is easy to find and parking isn't so bad. This is our first time at this zoo and we're amazed at all the different animals they have. They even have rhinos! Which we haven't seen one in a long time. They have train rides & carousel. Foods were alittle pricey. Overall it's a great place to check out and let the family see some wildlife and explore in the comfort of home.
It's a basic zoo, I'd say only 40% of the exhibits have animals. Kids like the playground more than the animals that are visible. If you're looking for a zoo, this classifies, but you can take the kids to the park for a playground and it's way less expensive than zoo admission.
This zoo is steadily getting better. They are updating a lot of areas with increased funding. Family always has a good time and you can't beat the cost effective membership dues.
They are working so hard to make this zoo a fun attraction for the little rock people. The day we went many of the animals were active and being fed while we were there so it was a fun experience!!
Great pkace to bring the family buuuut make sure u are packin some serios walkin around money as they dont want u to bring ur own stuff in and ask waaaay to much for their drinks and foods felt like i was being fished a little bit... $4 for a 20oz drink wasnt the highlight of our trip
Great place for kids, reasonably priced. There's still lot of construction happening.
Inexpensive fun for the family. Feeding the birds was the kid's favorite part.
Animals didnt seem to be very happy, and habitats were lacking with enrichment activities. Most were pacing so much you could see their paths. Saw alot of electric fencing instead of the normal mot most zoo's have. The entrance was out of maps and gave the people ahead of us a printed copy, when we asked they said they were out. So naturally we got lost since we have never been here before.
Great play area for kids and great carousel. It seemed like a 1/4 of the large animals were put up- lions and bears amongst others. The layout was not well thought out or planned. But the staff that we encountered was great!
Many empty exhibits, looks run down. Looks in need of landscaping help. No snacks stands open the main food area smelled like old fryer oil. Food was a little pricey. Bought a Hot dog and it was cold in the middle. I was disappointed
Awesome animals just not as many as I'd hope. Still a great zoo.
Enjoyed being here for Kids With Disabilities Day. The kids could feed some of the animals & pet some of the animals. Nice trip with family.
The enclosures were to small especially for the elephants.
Family always loves the zoo. We got the family membership so will be enjoying it multiple times a month. Very well worth it.
There weren't a lot of animals visible, due to heat, but it was well maintained and nicely laid out for social distancing.
I wish they had the picnic area open. It is a good place to go and have family fun time or as a field trip with the Sunday School group (kids).
Fun trip with my grandson.Around 1:00 Is naptime for almost all exhibits. Good crowds of visitors.
The animals were actually out, and about. They were doing more work to the zoo though, so some paths were blocked & we had to back track to come around another way. All in all it was a great day!
Very awesome Zoo, zookeepers there are very knowledgeable and you always get to see them feed at least a couple animals while you're there
Had a great field trip with my school this week. Lots of variety of animals and were very visible the morning we went. Our guide did a great job and staff was very helpful.
Wow has the Little Rock Zoo changed, some good while others are bad. I haven't been to the zoo, probably in 10 years, as my daughter is 17.
I took my mom, my 1 and half year old neices in a stroller, reluctantly but my daughter came too.
We enter and went to go view the Gorillas, Chimps and the Orangutans. Well my neices couldn't see anything because of the cement wall that is at eye level for kids in strollers. So then we begin the process of taking them out so they can see. Then the ordeal of getting not one but two 1 and a half year olds BACK in a stroller after they received their first taste of, insert William Wallace the Scotsman saying FREEDOM here, not a chance in hell! So now we've finally got the girls back in the stroller gave everyone a drink and headed down to the reptiles. That was an enjoyable experience, as one of my neices found a snake and correlated that 1) SNAKE starts with the letter "S" and 2) the sound a snake makes hiss, hiss. So we exit the reptiles to find the elephants. I've been working with them on what an elephant sounds like; they actually saw the elephants before we did and started trumpeting. We get over to the elephants and the keepers had them both out. OMG it was like Yule morning, the girls had never seen something that big upclose. The keepers are trying to finish their talk and are laughing at the trumpeting kids in the stroller. The only issue here would be to expanded the area where the plexiglass is that way more kids and kids in strollers are able to see. Then we move on to the giraffes and they weren't out. Now, there were some enclosures down for maintenance, etc but there wasn't a sign or anything so, we "moved along little doggies" to the Lions. Again the girls correlated the animal to the sound. So, we left the Lions and decided to go see the Tigers. Again there was the issue of the cement wall being eye height for kids in strollers; and yes even though they were literally along for the ride, were half comatose from lunch and nodding off, when they get older and we come they are going to want to see the animals and walk around once out of the stroller.
The zoo is kind of in a state of disarray right now with all of the upgrades theyre trying ti do. It still has the same smells, sounds, sights and some added new ones. Some places to take pics were nice. Also, the picture places where you stick your head through the holes were fun and brought back many wonderful memories of my daughter riding the train, and doing silly, funny, stuff at the zoo. I realize the zoo is an old zoo and is being worked on and reinivated because it truly needs it. Entrance/Exit doors need to be larger for the ever expanding strollers, enclosures are the same enclosures I remember as a kid, there needs to be "enrichment" programs for kids to actually meet some animals and it be included in the admission ticket. Viewing the animals from a kids perspective needs to be taken into consideration.
It was a very enjoyable trip.
My family visits the zoo at least once a year. We always have a fantastic time!
I went there lots of times 40 years ago this trip 5 days ago about 1/3 of the animals were no shows at the displays .it was a big disappointment from what I remember as a child its sad as it was a great zoo back in the 1970's
It is always clean and well kept. A great place for the entire family to spend a day.
I love the Zoo! The people here are great and have a lot of great information on the animals. They have good hearts and are compassionate about what they do here.
It's been over 10 years since I went, and there are some definite improvements! New attractions and updated buildings are beautiful. A few new animals are lovely to look at. There is still construction and updating going on, even after all these years. Can also get very crowded. Overall, we still had a pleasant afternoon visit.
The Zoo has made a lot of improvements! Proud of our little Zoo now!
Kids loved it and we did too had a whole day of family fun
Absolutely loved Boo at the Zoo! Rides, Haunted House, and Spooky Train were included in admission. My favorite part was the choreographed Thriller dance!
We bought an annual membership and I'm so glad we did! We only made it halfway through so plan on spending more time here over the summer. The membership gets you discounts in the store, cafe, and at several zoos in other states which is awesome!
Over the years the lr zoo has improved. The landscaping is nice, tickets are reasonable, and food has a reasonable price. BUTTTT, i the animals is what I came to see. The animals were out for about an half an hour but then it got too hot and they all wanted shade. So, we did not get to see interacting zoo animals. This zoo needs alot more trees to cool off the animals during these hot summer days. They look miserable right now.
Great place! My kids had a blast. We saw done animals we don't have at our local zoo and there are very informative plaques at each enclosure that they were excited to read. Also, there is a carousel and train, as well as, 2 playgrounds and a petting zoo.
Very nice zoo.. The monkey exhibits had better visibility of the monkeys than most zoos I have been to. The girlfriend normally gets a little depressed at zoos due to enclosure sizes and she mentioned that this zoo did not give her that feeling. Would certainly go again if I were in town.
I have grew up going to this zoo. I was very disappointed there was no giraffes. So many closed exhibits. I know it takes money, but the city should help.
Was not at the zoo but at the war memorial swimming pool. Had a great time
From 7 months to 70 years old it was fun for the whole family.
Decent for Little Rock. Except alot of the enclosures were under construction or completely empty. Alot of the animals weren't available for viewing
