I went in with my service dog, and the staff were very friendly. I made a point to ask if there was any place they'd like me to avoid, and they pointed out that one of their goats in the petting zoo was a survivor of a dog attack, and so they'd appreciate if I avoided him.

At no point were they mean it unfriendly about it, and I appreciated that. They even thanked me for being considerate enough to ask.

Not a lot of animals or people when we visited but it was cold. The few animals we did see looked just as happy to see us as we were them. Reserve a time was quick & easy. We'll be back when it warms up.

I loved the zoo. My kids enjoyed it, but felt bad for my mom. No wheelchairs or scooters were available for rent. Wanted to watch the animal show, but a staff person told us 5 minutes in advance before the show started and we weren't even close to the amphitheater!! We missed the whole show. Food was good.

Showed they were open on their website from 9 to 4 everyday for winter hours. No where does it say that they will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday until after February. Was really upsetting was taking my daughter for the very first time and drove over an hour and a half just to be a wast of time. Need to update your website

The zoo is beautiful ,but here's a warning, don't buy the Slushie cup,you will never be able to refill it with Slushie...never buy the Slushie cup! Also I was not told this when a bought the Slushie cup either, and when I wanted to get my money back the manager told me that I cant get my refund because I had already drank the Slushie that was in it. Lol at my expense.

So if your a local or if you visit often enough the family membership is the best bang for your buck. It s normally costs $3.00 for parking and then $13 for most, and about $10.00 for kids 3-13. Kids under 2 are free. The family membership is $89+ depending on the level of people you need and parking is free with membership- they also gave us 4 free train or carousel rides tickets with the membership . 2-3 visits and the membership is worth it. The zoo is fairly large and has lots of animals, however it gets exhausting after an hour or two, my child and I are fairly local so everytime we visit we visit different parts of the zoo. The train runs every half hour, however it s really not worth it unless you have small kids wanting to ride the train, mainly cause you don t really get good views on most of the ride. It also costs I think $3.00 per person. Cafe Africa ....well I got sick off the food, if you get a hotdog only get one cause they are huge. It also was a wait in line the day we went in, but at least it s air conditioned. The best time to visit the zoo is in the fall when they are getting ready for boo at the zoo, the summertime it s very hot and smelly cause of the animals- obviously. The carousel also costs tokens that can be bought at the front gate, my child is scared to ride on it but I think it s probably the best side attraction at the zoo. The gift shop is also one of our favorites but I wish they had a better selection. We still go fairly often because it s great for young children, I wish some of the exhibits were more tailored to a child s view- you can often see parents holding up kids to be able to see the monkeys and other animals. Overall, it s not the best zoo I ve been to but not the worst, they are constantly making improvements to it, here s hoping they make more positive changes to be able to appeal to be younger crowds. Also if you loose your membership cards don t freak out, you can order a replacement for the low cost of $5.00. Yes I lost my card and it was a huge relief.

I ve never not had a good time. If I bring my kids or go by myself, it s always special and the animals are always amazing. Could be a tad bit cheaper, but otherwise a great place.

Staggering visitors, so we hardly ran into anyone! It was really nice to feel like we had the place to ourselves. There are not any food places open, so the only option was nachos at one stand. There were quite a few exhibits closed and not many animals out, but the animals that were out were pretty close.

Very nice facility. Well laid out, with great views of animals.
The zoo, including public areas, animal enclosures, restrooms are clean.
The animals look great, are provided with various forms of enrichment including training, foraging, keeper interactions, "toys" and more.
I was very impressed.
Hanna (our tour guide) was EXCELLENT- informative, and made the tour fun AND educational. Gold stars for Hanna!!
Many of the zoo purchases either go to animal care, facility maintenance or national and international conservation programs.
We bought a family membership since we live in the state; if you're "just visiting " donations will help support conservation.

It was horrible the living spaces for these animals were so small all the animals looked so sad and depressed not only that the gorillas didn t have any water at all there were three in the enclosure on a very hot day without water not only that half the zoo was closed due to construction and I still had to pay full price I feel so bad for these animals deserve so much better it was so sad to see I left feeling so horrible they also had a horrible idea to put this little deer enclosure right in between the tiger and the wolf

Great experience with my daughter, Staff was friendly engaging & knew what they were talking about you can tell they enjoy their job. However they did not have as many animals as you would have thought and I think there needs to be a bigger budget for the ones they have. Enclosers could be nicer & bigger. For the cost and for the kids excellent and all animals seemed well cared for by keepers.

LR Zoo has made some fantastic progress over the last 20 years. The exhibits are larger and traffic is light during the week so bring the kids around 1:30 or 2 bc it closes at 4:30pm. Ride the Diamond Express!!

Great place to take a date or friends. They have a diverse selection of animals to look at, so there's a high chance you'll be able to find your favorite animal or discover a new one. Also, their penguins are pretty cute.

I love going to the zoo with my 6 month old daughter. She really likes looking at the animals *the ant eater is her favorite for some reason* and I like having a place to go that I know will keep her entertained and content. I have a membership so we go about once a week to see our animal friends. We hang out in the petting zoo area a lot and love the Boer Goats.

The only thing I'm a little bummed out about, and the reason I only gave it 4 stars, is that the giraffes and lions are gone They've always been some of my favorite animals. I understand they are renovating the lion's exhibit, so hopefully they'll be back soon.

The membership is also a good deal. I have the individual plus membership so I can bring one guest with me anytime and they don't have to pay a thing. And it was only $10 more than the individual membership.

One more thing, I've learned the best time to go to the zoo is during the week when all the kids are in school and the majority of people are at work. It's so quiet and peaceful, and the animals seem more relaxed, too.

Went at 10 am on a Tuesday with my wife and daughter, only saw employees and maybe three other people. Was a wonderful experience to feel like we had a private time with the animals.
