I used to love coming here, until the Adult Boo at the Zoo event. It was a raining evening and I don't feel the zoo properly planned well for the event due to the weather conditions. I left a comment on the event page with a critique on the amount of pours, staff's poor knowledge of the alcohol they were serving, confusing signage/trail markers, and most of the booths being shut down.
One employee replied back from her personal account telling me "this wasn't meant to be a drink all you can event, it was meant to be a tasting event." Which I found to be very insulting. I didn't attend the event to get drunk, I attended to support and enjoy my local zoo. I found her remark incredibly offensive. I have reached out to the zoo via their Contact Us form but have not heard anything back about this. Unfortunately I no longer will be a patron due to this employees gross remarks to the attendees of this event as she has been replying to everyone's critics on the page with the same comments.
Kids had so much fun. Construction is going on. Excited to come back and see the new exhibits.
Zoo in its entirety needs some updating. Most exhibits look dated and small. Felt sorry for most of the animals.
This zoo was a pretty good place to go with the family, we saw lots of fun chimpanzes, including one adorable baby chimpanzes, otters, snakes, more monkeys, birds, and reptiles of all kind!!! Though this place will never be like the "San Diego Zoo" it is still a fun place to go, the only part i wasnt too fond of was the smell. I would reccomend it to anyone who wants a fun day trip, (just dont bother the chimpanzes as they have been known to throw poo at onlookers)
Nice exhibits, decent amount and variety of animals. The small petting zoo is nice for younger kids
The staff has been friendly every interaction I've had.
We will continue comingto visit
Went for boo at the zoo and I don't feel we got what we paid for.
Great zoo, great people. The zoo needs to be More friendly for strollers and wagons. All in all it's a great day for children and adults.
We love visiting the little rock zoo, wish they had more interactive stuff on sunny Sundays.
We took our granddaughter. Had a very enjoyable day. It was her first time there. I would really recommend the Little ROCK Zoo.
Gave 3 stars ONLY because of the minimalistic viewing due to Covid-19. REALLY NOT convenient for WHEELCHAIRS EITHER!
Would like to Thank the staff for helping me with my granddaughter when my husband had a seizure while we were there.Thank you do much again.
I brought my son here for his birthday two days ago and I also brought him a year ago. Last year I assumed that it was just bad timing and so I thought I would give it another try this year. Bad idea. It's hard to push the stroller on their walkway because it's so torn up. There really isn't much shade so it's scorching hot. You have the option of using the mist stations to cool off but that's only going to burn you quicker. The route is confusing to follow. The worst thing however was the state of the animals. The ones we saw (most exhibits were empty or closed) were not active. They didn't have access to cool themselves off. Not one animal in the entire zoo seemed happy. Not one! There was construction both visits. One year apart. Expensive prices. Don't go!
Great family environment. Great reptile exhibit, cheetah conservationists exhibit, and great ape exhibit.
Great place for the kids, but there are undoubtedly better zoos out there.
A truly pleasant experience. I was not expecting such a great zoo, honestly. They have animals I'd never seen before! And some of their enclosures are huge and dynamic - like the cheetahs and the maned wolfs. It's a city zoo, so the entry fee was quite reasonable. Go on a weekday to avoid the crowds.
There's a new section with barnyard animals, which sounds kinda cheesy at first considering its in Arkansas, but it is a full hands-on experience and all the kids were having a blast.
But to be completely fair, it isn't the San Diego Zoo, or the London Zoo, but it is a legitimate, medium-sized zoo, a serious educational experience for all ages, and definitely deserves a five star rating for plenty of reasons.
Grand parents pass is great!! $89 for us and all our grand children for a year of entry. Love this deal!
Great zoo.. Happy to know it's in LR.. very nice place
Not many animals out was so crowded that you couldn't walk.
Lots of exhibits but the layout makes it easy to navigate.
Love going here I love takingthekids and teaching them about all the different a animals
Had a blast spend all day at the zoo with my family
I like going to this zoo but it's our only one. They could update some of the animals. They don't have any giraffes and some of the animals they did have are no longer there. But, a zoo needs giraffes lol.
Awesome zoo, employees are nice. Gift shop is kinda lacking, i would love to see some bumper stickers and posters/print media (educational books, puzzles, games!)
Had a blast at Boo-at-the-zoo which something they do every year.
This zoo disappoints more and more every time we go. We spent $55 for three adults and a 2 year old. We got there at 9:30 and left by 11:30. Out of the 725 animals they claim to have we probably saw 50. There were no giraffe, no eagle, no hippo, no bear except one grizzly. I can name more animals that we didn't see than we did. Many of the animals we have seen before we're not there. Even the petting zoo was closed. This zoo is a joke. Save your money and go to Memphis. We will never go back to LR zoo.
I visited my daughter and grandyoungins and took my daughter there..we both act like teenagers again..alot of walking but enjoyed every minute
I love the zoo, but, the zoo NEEDS to be bigger. The animals look like they are in small dorm rooms instead of habitats that look like open natural areas. When seeing the bear section of the zoo, a bear gets the same size living area as the otters. Hint, both areas are smaller than my house which I can't stay in for more than 48 hours before I need to get out into the world. So, I sure do hope with the mayor's plans are to give the zoo more land in order to improve on this animals living arrangements.
saw big rocks, if you dont like false advertising, dont come.
Had a great time at this zoo. We went just after storms and the animals were very active. Only took one star away because several exhibits did not have animals nor signs stating that the exhibit was temporarily closed.
Lots of animals, beautiful exhibits. They are making room for more animals currently.
It was great all the animals were out I got plenty pictures not too crowded and everybody was very nice tickets were reasonable concessions were high but that's to be expected
Despite other reviews, I thought this zoo was excellent. It was clean, animals had nice exhibits, and all animals were where you could see them wonderfully. If you're expecting it to be like the large zoos in Memphis or New York then you will be disappointed because this zoo does not have as much funding as the big ones, but there were so many animals to look at, and a great variety. There are exhibits being renovated, but the animals were moved to different places so you could still see them. (And it's exciting the animals will have even better enclosures when renovations are done!) the cafe had good food and was at a reasonable price with good variety. I will definitely visit again!
Went there on a field trip with the kids, there about eight or nine bus
groups there because there was a local band competition and they wouldn't open up the picnic area.
This was my 1st time to this zoo and I have to say, I was pretty disappointed and sad for some of the animals. First off, half of the exhibits had no animals or were closed down. However, you're still expected to pay full price. Then, some of the ones that did have animals were a species that should have had some type of pool or pond and didn't. In this heat, they should have had something to take a dip and play in. They were panting and pacing like they could barely breathe. It broke my heart for them. I hate to say it but i will probably not go back.
Enjoyed the day there. Went kind of late...so most animals were put up. The workers were very kind even tho we hadn't made it to exit within the 30/mins alotted time after close.
My daughter had a blast looking at all the animals, riding the train, and playing on on the playgrounds!!!!
Nice employees.
They need more funding.
Nice park-like setting.
Nice for walking ....
Nice cafe'.
The rain forest is awesome; you can get some awesome bird photographs, but the giraffes, lions, monkeys and gorillas are my favorite.
Good local spot for the kiddos. Could be better of animals were out more but pretty good for the location.
I haven't been here in some years, so since it was my Mom's birthday I took her!! They have so many new exhibits and it's just amazing!! We went on a day where it was chilly so we were able to see a lot of the big cats that usually don't come out unless it's cooler. Will definitely be returning!!
We enjoyed seeing all the animals in decent living arrangements. They also had a new baby gorilla
Cool animal's but there pens had no water whitch was wrong it was 90+ out. Reasonable price for a small zoo
Fun, but I'd like the tortoises to be switched so that I can pet the larger one through the fence again!
Very nice zoo for a nice day outside seeing animals.
The Little Rock Zoo is not what it used to be I'm very disappointed
Today I went to this zoo in Little Rock paid 12.95 plus $3.00 for parking and what a surprise this is the most ugly zoo I ever been they don't have enough animals they do ga e plenty fish everywhere very disappointed I was expecting little More
Beautiful place for a day out. Clean and friendly. My son loves that there is a playground and a train too.
Someone needs to relocate the chimpanzee that keeps getting attacked to a sanctuary. Nice Saturday afternoon with family ruined/distressed by scared and bloodied chimpanzee in front of many families. When reporting the attacks, the zookeepers and information desk responding with comments like "strong family dynamic and oh, not again." Extremely disappointed and fearful for this animals life.
Adult night was great. We need more than one night!
it hasn't changed in 45 years. Same thing. Sort of boring for the price.
I attended Boo at the Zoo with my nieces tonight. The time and effort put into the decorations and overall presentation was incredible!! To see something like this in Little Rock was shocking, but in a pleasant way!! I can't compliment them enough. Kudos to the Little Rock Zoo. It's certainly a hidden gem!!
one of the best experiences me and my wife have had at the zoo. The zoo keeps nice and informative
We had a really good time. Except their was quite a few animals either not out or not on exibit.
I haven't been to the zoo since I was a child so I was Soo excited to experience with the kids. But I was very disappointed and saddened by the small enclosure spaces for the animals especially the those poor elephant's, they look so depressed even the kids picked up on it. And all the dirt and construction every where added even more gloominess I felt ashamed that I had even visited as if this establishment was illegal, that's how sad those animals looked.....and to top it off the train and carousel ride 3 dollars per child, Let's just say I won't be back.
I Love this zoo because of all the newer, more environmentally correct enclosures that have been built 4 each animal type. Especially love and adore the penguin enclosure. Lets U get super up close and personal with them and apparently they love it as well. They are drawn 2 their, "glass window" into our world as we are drawn 2 the same into theirs. Mostly clean zoo. Animals all look as happy as they could be in captivity. Don't see any signs of mistreatment or of being malnourished in any way. The price has gone up over the years, but I can see & understand the need 2 help get these animals into more natural environments as they have built/still are building. But, as a grandparent of 4, the annual price tag is awesome. Pays more than for itself in 2 visits a year. So I definately suggest joining the member's of the Little Rock Zoo, 2 reap all the extra m, "rewards" offered 2 it's members throughout the year.
Most of animals were inside so we couldn't see them. Lots of them were alone-only one of its species. Very few of the big animals. The food stands were all closed except the one big cafe. The gift shop was very disappointing.
Not the biggest zoo, but a great bang for your buck. Great array of animals to interact with
The admissions is a joke. We went on a school trip and was kept out side an hour waiting for the zoo staff to get there sh** together. How hard is it to count kids and parents as they walk through and run one credit card. I will never be back on a school trip or other wise. This place is a joke and have no consideration for people's time.
It was a good experience but it looked like the animals are well taking care of.
With our reciprocal membership, we got in for half-price and $1 parking. Regular admission is $14 and parking is $3. The zoo is in decent shape but not a lot of animals and most of the water features were dry like the moats and the Asian More
Bought am annual membership. It is worth the price.
For the price we paid it SUCKED. We didn't even see 50% of the animals. Every animal the kids were looking forward to seeing weren't even out for display. We check back again in an hr or so thinking they would be out. Still nothing. The grounds were poorly maintained to be a zoo. The kids left disappointed to say the least. I wasted 100 dollars!!! Will not be back! I do not suggest this place to anyone looking forward to see animals!!! You will waste your money and not see them. Don't waste your time mentioning it to the staff because they DO NOT CARE!!
It's a fun place to go with the family. Restaurant and gift shop inside. Lots of new animals of all different types
Many attractions closed. Didn't seem to be ready for the season. Good organization of the animal groupings. Spent three hours with the grandkids walking through the zoo and didn't leave feeling totally exhausted from excessive walking and we were still able to visit almost all of the available zoo attractions.
They seem to have more exhibits open now and more area renovations complete. Its definitely improved over the years. Worth the visit now.
Nice zoo. Smaller than some, but still nice. The annual membership is worth it for little kids. Good variety of animals. Petting zoo area is superb. Play areas are clean and well upkept.
This is one of the best zoos I've visited. Easy flat walk and lots of exhibits and really fairly priced compared to some. We spent a surprising amount of time in the bird aviary (same building as reptiles). We went there for our daughters Kindergarten Field Trip and had a great time. The Africa Cafe has a really cute jungle gym play area that the kids almost preferred over the animals. Go in the Spring! The weather was perfect.
Active animals but smaller zoo with lots of construction.
