Little Rock Zoo Reviews

This is a pretty good size Zoo for a medium-sized City. I've been to over 60 zooz so I'll give you my thoughts on this. Like I said the size is nice and it does have a decent lay out. They have a lot of the major animals except for maybe giraffes as far as one of those primaries that they don't have. They do have some very nice exhibits and all of the enclosures seem to have quite a bit of room for the the animals for the most part. The issue I have is this place is doing a lot of construction so they are working on their future which is a great thing. However with this comes a lot of closures on the pathways so sometimes you have to double back which gets kind of frustrating after the 7th or 8th time when you're going to an animal and it looks like you can walk through and have a decent flow to your visit only to find out that it dead-ends and you have to walk back the way you came. I really like the elephants and I really like the Apes. I like the Rhino exhibit was very nice. And I like their big cats excited which has an overview where you can see all the animals from the top so the Lions the Tigers the Jaguar you can come have a bird's-eye view of their enclosures as well as the normal view you get just walking on the path in front of it. That was pretty cool. Their African cafe has some food that's better than average it doesn't feel like it's off the assembly line deals like it's almost home cooked from scratch. And a very friendly staff there. They do have a tiny gift shop but the staff there also is very nice. They have a train and they have a carousel for the kids as well as a play area and a Heritage Farm type area. Some of their enclosures are dated but they do seem to really take good care of the animals here. I do have a hard time seeing penguins that are outside and don't have an interior place to view them where it's nice and cold especially in a warm climate like Little Rock in the summer. This zoo does provide a lot of shade though so even on a hot summer day is a nice place to come and visit or bring the family. Again my only issue was but that's that did ended in you have to retrace your steps other than that this is a pretty nice Zoo. 1295 for adults and $3 for parking.

This zoo was great and amazing. The animals cage were nice and clean and the animals always seemed like they had a smile ontgrir faces! The only thing that the zoo needs to fix is the prices of admission and the food. I look forward to coming back again soon!!

Lion and tigers and well I've never seen the bears., but they have some great apes, south African penguins, reptiles, and a lot more too. Admission is a little expensive considering they charge for parking.

Great visit, understanding and friendly staff just wish the city budget cuts hadn't lost us the rides this year. My girls were really looking forward to them.

They have a good variety of animals. It was a little complicated to keep track of where to go next, bc everything seemed to intersect with each other. We went in the winter, so many animals weren't out, but as the day progressed and it got up to 40 degrees, more animals came out. We spent about 2 hours there and enjoyed it.

Unfortunately alot of the exhibits were marked closed, temporarily unavailable, or under renovation. Only got to see approx 1/3 of the animals. The apes exhibit was nicely layed out with a variety of monkeys. In this current condition not worth $55 for 4 ppl plus to pay for parking. Was not impressed and would not currently recommend.

For a city the size of Little Rock it's about the ideal size. The staff was friendly; one zoo volunteer carried around a corn snake for guests to touch. It was a extra hot Saturday so many of the animals were inside their shelters and we couldn't view them; I'd say over half were not visible. The animals we did see were interesting.
The layout of the zoo was confusing, but thankfully we received free map with our paid entrance fee. The zoo was very clean and the animal dwellings were well maintained. There was a bit of construction in a couple of areas. Unfortunately, nearly all the concession stands were closed and that seemed odd for a hot Saturday afternoon.
There was a small train to ride but for additional cost.
Overall, I felt that the cost of an adult ticket of $12.50, child ticket of $9.95 for 3 and up, plus a $3 fee for parking was pricey for such a small zoo.
No outside food and drink allowed, except water bottles. So, it was unfortunate that most of the concession stands were closed as it was a tad inconvenient, if you didn't plan ahead.
All in all, we had a good time.
It's not on my "gotta go again" list.

Wow it was grest!!!!! Whent with the family and my little 2 year old granddaughter it was a blast!!!!! We even got to see them feed the monkeys and the and a few others really s good day!!!!!!!

Fantastic zoo! Great staff and beautiful animals! This park is easy to navigate. There is a great restaurant to eat lunch and cool off! Very kid friendly with a little kid zone, which contains slides and other play equipment. There is a train that runs through the zoo as well. The animals are close enough to see easily and take great pictures!

The ape are amazing! The overall variety and lay out is really nice. It is decently priced for what you get. Everything is stroller/wheelchairs friendly. You can rent strollers here, we haven't. They have a few extra paided things, like bird feeding, a train, and carousel. We have never done these because we go when no one is there. The food is zoo food and not worth the price, and the gift shop is sad.

My kids love the zoo. The food is a over priced, but otherwise a really great place to take the family

Even though some things we're closed due to construction. Still a great way to spend a few hours on the weekend.

Great little zoo with lots to see and do. Our kids really enjoyed the new playground area with the rope bridge and slack-line balance course. The tigers and lions were also family favorites.

We had so much fun even tho we got locked out of our car. Thankfully the maintenance people helped us out by giving us a wire coat hanger!!!

Construction made getting around difficult. Very little shade. Some animals needed better habitat

Alot of the main attractions we're closed. The brand new Heritage "petting zoo" was not really a petting zoo more so than a major disappointment since the animals were in gated pens and the children could not interact with them much. On the "plus" side the animals that we could view were alert and seemed well fed and content.

This was an actually nice zoo. It had a variety of animals,reptiles,etc. Didn't get to see the bear but will hopefully next time

Ended up going on one of the first non-raining weekend days so it was real crowded. Even with the crowd we were able to visit all of the exhibits. Want to return after the new construction is finished.

I want to be the 1st to support the LR zoo! It's awesome for the children and typically an all around good experience. However I can't remember the last time I've felt like my family fell victim to such an overpriced violation than we did when we attended BOO AT THE ZOO. $20 per person ... even 2 year olds is a bit steep.
LR Zoo ... if you're going to raise your prices ridiculously for an event here are a few suggestions...
1. Plan better
2. Give at least a LITTLE value for the money
3. Open earlier in the day so more time can be spent engaging with animals.
4. It's a ZOO ... some exposure to animals would have been GREAT!
5. Choreograph your crowd control better.

We spent $100 for 3 hours of standing in line after line. No exaggeration, we saw 1 llama and barely saw the elephant. That was it. No other animals. More time was spent in lines for a cracker jack toy than being able to actually engage in entertainment. I'd rather just send in my $100 to the zoo for support and then go watch a movie. I'll go to the Zoo during the daytime but NEVER again for this event. BOO!

Buy the season family pass. BEST family entertainment in the Rock.

Hate that they put up the animals 30 mins before they close them what's the point of being opens and why charge for parking?

Great place to take the kiddos! We did breakfast with Santa and it exceeded my expectations! It was wonderful. We will be making it a new holiday tradition :-)

Need more food and water access. Me and family about died looking for a place to buy water.

Our Zoo is nice. I always bring my little ones here :) and they love it! Check out the penguins! And ride the train!!!!!

horrible service in concession, took over 45 mins to be waited on &then the woman was very rude & didnt want to answer any of my questions about the food/prices... my baby was crying & 1st thing she said is I cant hear you , what do you want..it is super hot in the cafe Africa.. no air while waiting with your children & the fans not going either... plus everything cost outrageous prices! Bathrooms were also AWFUL! PLUS most of the exhibits were Empty or had one of the animals or wasn't on display!

I love going to the Little Rock zoo. Lots of fun for inexpensive price.

Always a family favorite, although expensive these days for a family of just three

The animals were out and in the right spots unlike the last time we went. The only real complaint I have is they didnt have a giraffe anymore

Great place to take the family and enjoy your day. Food is pricey. Other than that, you'll have a fun time.

Thank you Little rock zoo for doing what you do you provide great homes for animals in so many ways and zoos are I am assuming really hard to run and I am glad that you give the animals the option of being inside and outside even though that means some people do not get to see the animals it is there home and the animals are not there for entertainment and I know you guys are doing the best you can with everything and I just wanted to say keep up the great work! :)

My three year old granddaughter is daughter wasnt even seated on the carrousel when the operater started the ride while my wife and grand daughter were trying to sit down. Causing them to stumble and fall. This happened today, April 20. The African cafe employees were rude and over heard them talking about all these damn white folks. I will never recommend anybody to go to that zoo.worse experience I ever had with children.

See more animals walking in my back yard, value sucks, animals we seen much nicer than staff, train ride cost more than a subway in NY

My son was in summer camp at the center and loved it. Nicely kept up space and great for kids who love animals.

Great zoo....I figured bc it was warm a lot of animals would be inside but 95% were all visible and somewhat active

My kids just love it. Only downfall is that we went dream night with my son who has autism an my son was disappointed that most of animals were not visible an asleep. I wish the event some how could have been a little bit longer before dark. An we got locked in the zoo too.

Very clean, easy walking and nice size animal exhibits. It was also easy to get to and reasonably priced.

Me and my daughter just loved it. At first she didn't want to go but after we were there and explored she couldn't get enough of the animals. Great family bonding we stayed all the way till closing time and did all activities. The animals were active for the most part.

Pretty good zoo with plenty of playground but the amount of construction and animals off exhibit or being moved was a bit much for something we had to make reservations for.

There are quite a few empty exhibits. Zoo staff should be more available to the public there.they should be near the exhibits more so that they can talk to people that come up to these exhibits about the animals that they do have. Most of the animals there been there for a good long time and there's always construction mess everywhere when you go there.

Had a great time here, went on a Sunday morning and basically had the place to ourselves.

I loved it especially the gorilla named Brutus or I think that was his name he came up and high 5ed me

They where amazing nice people face painting really fun for little kids.

Well first of all they are under construction and they don't tell one that they have closed areas but if they charge you the regular entrance fee, we couldn't see all the animals for the same situation areas were closed

Nice little place to take the kids. Food is pricy, would not reccomend eating here. Nice exibits, but could use more animals. The place would be nicer in the spring or summer times, because of hibernation.

Went on a field trip with my kids class and everyone enjoyed seeing the animals

The zoo has lost a lot of acreage over the years. They have moved the carousel over to the animal part and shut down the rides. Also, the staff at Cafe Africa need help with organization in getting food to customers. We waited two different times for over an hour! Not good for the first warm day out!

I ve been to my fair share of zoos and this zoo is amazing!! I was so surprised going for there for the first time. They have so much there, it is very nice, and the staff is friendly. We ended up buying a season pass on our first visit. A great place to take kids of all ages in Little Rock!

Was good all of the animals where not out of there House's

It was a lot of fun for the kids at a very reasonable price.

It's not the biggest zoo but I recently took my 4-year-old daughter and we had a great time. We went on a nice day and the animals were out, and several of them were very active. It's a good activity on a nice day, especially if you have little ones.

It was amazing definitely an all day family adventure

A great zoo for a smaller city. A membership is the best value if you have a kid or children or if you just really love animals. The staff is very friendly.

Many many years had passed since I'd been to the zoo... what an awesome adventure? ..... my daughter and I must've had a ball!!!! Thanks Little Rock Arkansas .... you really have a great place there. Kudos

Great place to take the family... The best thing about this zoo is they bought 2 premier portable buildings, wise choose, definitely need to check them out!
