A well laid out zoo, with many animals to see. Updates are needed to some enclosures, but overall it is well maintained. I hope to see this zoo grow in the years to come, but for a weekend trip with family or friends, it s a great place to see a large variety of animals.
Animals in excellent condition, I like it a lot ...
I tried calling y all and y all didn t respond, I was trying to see if you all can help me with my brothers bearded dragon now he is dying a slow death, so y all need to respond more often.
The zoo staff was very friendly and helpful. There was an elephant feeding photo opp that was $10, totally worth it! The petting zoo had several animals that were all very sweet. The only thing I think needs improvement is the token system. It would be a lot simpler for the customer to do a wristband system that can be purchased at admission.
It's a little better than the first time I visited this zoo a few years ago but still doesn't wow me. Some of the animals were not even out and their enclosures were too small for them. I can't believe they charge so much to see only half the animals and some of them look gloomy. I have been to the OKC and seen better enclosures and paid only $8 and no extra for parking. What are they doing wwith their parking and entrance fees? The only reason I went this visit is because it was zoo day for my daughter and her school.
Some animals were being shy but a beautiful day to be at the zoo!!
It could use some TLC. I wish they didn't close everything so early during "winter hours" because it was very inconvenient. The zoo was clean and the animals that we saw looked healthy. I think with some updating it would be great.
We love coming here and seeing all the animals. Right now there is a lot of construction and sometimes the smell from animal waste is a little strong in certain areas of the zoo.
The LR Zoo has improved a ton over the years. Some of the animals probably need bigger enclosures, but they all seem very well cared for despite that. The staff are all very friendly and if you are there at a feeding time they will usually stop and talk to you and answer questions and are very nice and knowledgeable. The restaurant is good. Has typical burgers and hotdog type foods and even a few healthy options like turkey wraps.
The kids and all the adults that went loved it. Very pretty exhibits and the lions loved my littlest one lol the females ran up to the glass and kept pawing at it trying to reach her. It blew my youngest mind to see a real life elephant too. We are new to Arkansas so it was a great first experience, we will for sure be back again.
Loved it.. Its a great place for family and friends..

Very disappointing. The best thing about it was the lay out . Very nice walkways and able to let kids run in front of us. The staff was very nice at the gate, train and exit. The animals appear to be in need of care. The lion had fresh scratches on his back. The river otter had very little water in his space . The bear's fur looked extremely bad with mange appearance . The monkeys appeared to have fleas. The tortoises had no grass in their area. The train ride was less than 5 minutes and it was $3 a person. The carosel was $3 a person and needed to be cleaned--very dirty. Drink prices extremely high and only one size for slushies---need small sizes for toddlers.
My family & I made it out to the zoo today, & this trip was the best time at the zoo we have had. The day started out cool, so a lot of the animals were out & active. But what topped it off was as we were going through the reptile room a zoo worker named Tony Ballo (sorry if I'm misspelling his name)called us over to show us two snakes mating. He started out just sharing a few facts about the snake's anatomy, but by the end we had spent over a hour walking with him while he gave us some cool facts about all the reptiles and amphibians we were looking at. He even walked with us when my son wanted to go see the little primates. He had some laminated sheets to help show us facts about them. It was great getting to know him as he shared with us about his travels from the Philippines that took him around the world. My family had a great time learning more about the animals today with him. We would like to thank Tony again for his time today.
Decent zoo. Cafe is overpriced and pretty bad but I've experienced that at every zoo I've visited.
The little Rock Zoo was a super fun family day out. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming. It was kept well cleaned both inside and outside of the animals habitats. I highly recommend taking your family out for the day and visiting the Little Rock Zoo.
Charming zoo, great collection of animals, not sure why there's all the hate. I asked about "trash" in the exhibits, and the staff told me that they were "enrichment items," which give the animals activities like puzzles to figure out or something to tear at and destroy. It's good for them. And why is everyone saying that the animals are mistreated? I visit the zoo fairly frequently (since I live nearby), and every time I see animals they're bright-eyed, sleek, and clean. There are lots of cool animals of all different kinds in lots of exhibits, and they all just look like they're moseying around, enjoying life. Also, the staff are always kind and helpful to me, so I don't know why others are having problems. Anyways, I like the zoo and plan to visit frequently in the future, and I always have had a good time, so five stars.
It's amazing and the kids love to see all of the animals!
Always love the LR Zoo, especially when there's new babies like the orangutan! There's alot of construction of new habitats right now which makes it a little difficult to navigate but just makes for a longer period of enjoyment with the animals.
Had a great time. Animals were happy and well cared for.
I loved this place for spending unforgettable moments with my beautiful family
Family atmosphere, great staff. I'm always impressed with our Zoo and the exhibits. Love taking the kids and brown bagging it.
Went on a field trip with my daughter and her kindergarten class to the zoo.. I really enjoy the time with her!! The only thing was there was some construction going on, as well a few exhibits that was closed for either cleaning or repair. It still was wonderful experience that I got to share with my daughter. One of those closed exhibits was the giraffes. The giraffes are no longer there!! Their habitat is not big enough for them. They are needing lots of ofdonations and help to get the the giraffes back to our Zoo!! That's the one thing that my daughter wanted to see and didn't get to!!
We liked it but needs maintenance and more life! Like open places to buy food, drinks! Needs life besides the animals. Staff were very kind and friendly
The zoo is awesome and seems to always be renovating to make life for the animals the best as possible. One interesting thing about the Little Rock Zoo is that a lot of the animals they have are geriatric and the staff takes awesome care of them. The staff is also great about educating guests on the various animals located at the zoo and answering any questions you may have.
This Zoo is great. Lots of different animals and exhibits. I went here with my wife on a rainy day and we had the entire zoo to ourselves.
It was fun seeing the animals. I didn't get to see my favorite animal :( but I heard them. I got pooped on by some sort of bird where the first part of all the big fish in the pond were. I wasn't the only one, but I think they should put a sign up warning people to be prepared for pooping birds above. Other than that, it was a good experience and the funnel cakes are to die for!
My first field trip as a kid in the first grade was better then that is now. We wasted over $35 dollars to see about half of the zoo was closed off. What few animals we saw were asleep or stuffed. Couldn't see hardly see anything for the tall grass and weeds. It's in the worst shape I have ever seen it. I will not ever go back unless they refund me. Worst place we have took our 18 month old boy this summer.
Nice place, has a bit of a spook appeal. Wish the train was operating, it would have really made the visit great.
It was so much more exciting when the kids were smaller. The girls (now teens) thought it would be fun . Instead it turned them into Animal Activists. It broke their hearts to see all the animals distressed due to confinement. Beware of the Parrot display that you're able to walk into. One but the fire out of me. By the end of the day we were hot and cranky. Next time I'll bring the grandkids on a cooler day.
This is a pretty nice zoo. They are working on a few exhibits but there is still plenty to see. They also have train rides and different play areas for the kids.
Very run down. Animals were very unhappy looking. I will pay more and travel to Oklahoma from now on.
The zoo is getting better. The cafe needs improvement. The reptile house is kinda sad but the new children's sensory garden is nice. Hopefully we can improve the bears location more as the baby bear grows up. I feel like the zoo is trying to get better.
Always a good time to take the kids. The petting zoo and playgrounds have gotten a lot better. My kids really enjoyed it
I have only been there once a couple years ago but it is a nice small zoo in the middle of a city. The animals seem to be well taken care of and the enclosures were clean and appeared safe. I am looking at the safety of the animals more than the people but the people appear safe also.
I am just not impressed AT ALL. This Zoo is horrible! It was a hot sunny day and all these poor animals had little, if any water. They also had a huge lack of shade. Most of the animals were sprawled out in the sun. However,,, you get an extra star for the rhinos doing it (highlight of my day)
Most of the animals were actually out in their exhibits today unlike many of our previous visits. Staff are always knowledgeable about the animals and ready to answer questions. Bonus is the two play areas that drain any remaining energy that the kids have.
My family and I had a wonderful day! 2 adults and 5 children less than 70 bucks!
Great experience. Clean and well maintained. Good food at a good price.
Had a lot of fun there with my family one of the greatest zoos you can find with good staff members I recommend you should go there
Decent price not alot of animals out. Alot of construction going on. Will be great once it's an actual zoo and not a construction site
Here for my company family day, Dassault Falcon Jet
This place is amazing. All of the animals being saved by one place is great and they did a wonderful time welcoming us.
Do not eat at the Cafe Africa. They do not wear gloves when handling food and I know because I saw the damn manager holding a burger without any on! You've been warned!
Boo at the Zoo is a great family activity with lots of lights and candy for the kids
Why does a football game close down the zoo. This is the stupidest crap ive ever heard. Especially since the website says open, so after an hour drive i get turned around because of game day parking. Wth. What a waste of time.
I didn't have very high expectations of the Little Rock Zoo, but I was wrong. It's a nicely laid out, fun experience. There's some walking involved but what zoo doesn't involve walking? The exhibits are fairly attractive, the personnel are pleasant, and my family got to experience what felt like a once in a lifetime experience when the cheetahs went after a squirrel that was on the ground in their enclosure. It was like watching the National Geographic channel in real life! Amazing to watch! That one thing alone was worth the price of admission, not even counting everything else there is to see. Thanks cheetahs!
Great family place but was slightly disappointed with animals seen versus the price.
Reservations are required to enter. Fairly priced. We are from out of town. Came on a Wednesday afternoon and there were maybe 15 cars in parking lot. Signs state that masks need to be worn at all time. We had no issue. But they don't enforce it at all inside the park. Everyone we ran into had their mask off their face. Made us feel a tad uncomfortable.
Nice little zoo! The gorillas, chimps and orangutans were all putting on a show when we arrived.
Some of the park is under construction so it made it hard to get around. If we visit Little Rock again we'd be back!
The zoo has definitely improved in recent years! It's such a fun place for an event!
Always a joy to visit the LR Zoo. Some of the exhibits needed cleaned but that's just zoo poo for you!
This zoo is way larger than I anticipated. There are a lot of animals and even a petting zoo. The parking was free and admission is cheap. I recommend bringing quarters to feed the fish and the animals in the petting zoo. The food in the cafe is also fairly priced and better than I expected, which was a great surprise.
I thought it was over priced. My gdaughter had fun though
The zoo was so much fun and they had alot of different kinds of animals and things to look at
Its a nice zoo, but doesnt really compare to the nearby memphis or st loise zoos
This inspires me to make my own zoo! I already have the blueprints drawn! 5 Stars!!!!
My family goes to the zoo at least twice a month. It's a great deal if you get the family membership.
A lot of the animals weren't out. We need more aquatic animals also.
I love our zoo. I feel happy making it the primary place to take my year old son for outings.
The staff there are always beaming with their love of the animals and the community. They never stop consistently working on improving the living spaces for the animals. I know some say zoos are animal jails but I firmly feel that everyone employed there only wants the best environment and attention to the conservation of the species housed at the Little Rock Zoo.
In the cooler months the zoo is pretty good. The summers here are just too hot for many of the animals so they tend to be hiding in the shade.
Definitely not the best zoo only because it's small!
