Nice all round place to eat and drink, not the same pub as the PR driven experience seems to be taking over as well as 9 types of bitter

Lovely staff, pub is dark and quirky. I had haddock and chips, chips were dry and fish was rubbery, poorly deboned, and the batter was soggy. Not value for money. I wouldn't come again.

Loved it they had a street party and the band was excellent. Nice friendly people we all thoughly enjoyed oweselves

I want to love this pub, it's a great boozer. Have had one nice experience with the food there and another not so great. The fish and steak was undercooked and the service was pretty surly when we complained. Maybe just a one off on a busy Saturday lunchtime, but has put us off a bit!

We went for a late Sunday lunch at about 4:00; very good service and very good food. Great music on the speakers and live jazz in the evening... Highly recommended!

This is my favourite pub in Brighton. Lovely, bohemian and friendly. My visit today was only marred by yummy mummies with their badly behaved children running around the rooftop terrace. Another family had to endure this as well and their beautifully behaved children looked on in confusion!

As a teacher I like my pubs either child-free or well behaved children only. Apart from that best pub in Brighton!

Great roof top garden and lovely quirky old school traditional interior. Great for a pint or a catchy.

I had the steak which was quite good. It's typical British pub. It has very interesting terrace on the top.

Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff. Such a fun building. Delightful experience. The oil and Balsamic vinegar with bread was really well balanced. Hand cut chips could have been better..they weren't crisp enough, but the sirloin steak was delicious with really good flavour, and the sauces were excellent. I thought the prices were reasonable.

Lovely place with good menu and quality pub food. Nice selection of wine and beer. Sunday evenings live jazz music performance. Mostly local people. Surely a place to visit in Brighton. Service is politely and fast.

Awful awful place. Me and my friend went down for Halloween and was refused service after 2 drinks for talking to someone who looked a bit "homeless".

Nice cosey pub, sort of stuck in the past but in a good way, security on the door so good for a quiet drink and something to eat

The interior was lovely and the staff were nice but the roast was awful: everything was bland and tasteless, the vegetables were overcooked and the Yorkshire pudding was dry.

Great food and good choice of beers for the real ale fans. Nice atmosphere for watching the rugby too :) However it's not one of those sporty pubs full of football fans all the time.

we live in Portsmouth and travel to Brighton, just for the food in the lion and lobster. The food is amazing,such a great friendly pub.
just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary there with a meal, absolutely magic.

I always like coming here. The staff are friendly & polite. They have a good selection of drinks. The pub is massive with lots of corners & different floors & tables of various sizes to accommodate most sized groups.

Best pub in Brighton. Hands down. The food is beyond anything you could imagine and the building itself is spectacular. A wide variety of classic ales and lovely wines. This is the place for those who love a pub environment but want to leave the scummy part behind!

Wonderful roast beef dinner and roast belly of pork teaned with glass of Malbec. Throughly recommend.

Great food, and different floors for every one to decide what surroundings they like

Small map. Fish and chips are perfect. The fresh fish (if it is on the menu of the day) is delicious (Sea Bass), perfectly grilled and very fresh. However, children have to leave the restaurant at 9 a.m.

Fantastic lil hidden treasure. Great pub with fab selection of beers and ales, but over and above that this place serves fantastic food at the bar or in the upstairs restaurant. The food is well priced and really excellent with a great specials board for something different each day.. I eat here a lot, and so should you lol

Service wasn't the greatest, sort of slow for 5 bartenders milling around back there and ignoring patrons. But the guy who helped me was kind and accommodating to my small mods.

Good portion sizes and very quick service (for the Sunday roast).

Very nice roof top terrace and a good place to watch football games

Took my wife and mother in law there for a family meal on Mothers day, We all loved the food and service was good. You get a big meal we all went for roast dinners and my 14 year old son (who is eating for England at the mo) was starting to struggle a bit with how much was on the plate. The only thing I would mention is my mother in law is 83 and going up 2 flights of stairs to go to the toilet was a little difficult for her.

One of the best pubs in Brighton and Hove in my opinion. Good people, multiple floors, great in summer and good food.

Good food, in a claret walled vintage pub over several floors, with a roof terrace and live jazz on Sunday evenings. Dog friendly (except the restaurant area)

Solid roast, great value and even better service. Meat - lamb and beef - slightly on the dry side, but the generous serving of veg made up for it. The stuffing is delightful.

Labyrinthine, low-lit and consistently good if you get a table. Love those pizzas, too.

Cute and quiet and one of the coziest visits I've had to town for a cheeky pint, lovely locals and great prices.

Lovely nooks and crannies but gets very busy. City prices!

This pub seems like an old traditional boozer when you first walk in, but it has a good atmosphere and while the beer selection isn't amazing it's better than some.
If you keep going up there's a restaurant as well as a small outdoor patio in the middle of the roof. The sunday roast is one of the better ones I've had in Brighton.

Great food on offer if you can get a space, definately pre-book!
