Homemade pizza with your pint from 10pm!!!! Genius!
My favourite place for fish and chips. It has 3 floors if your visiting Hove it's a must
Had a really tasty roast with all the trimmings, and the pub is quaint and cosy and nice to hang out in. Pub downstairs, restaurant upstairs.
Popped in for an impromptu Sunday roast, the staff were very welcoming, and the food fantastic!
Had a great Christmas lunch with my work at Lion & Lobster! Food and drinks were good and the staff was friendly. Shout out to Daniela for being amazing!
Classic must visit Brighton pub. Like a normal boozer downstairs but it just goes on and on
Not at all impressed by Sunday lunch. No starters other than a Bloody Mary, roast chicken comprised of a single drumstick, no other sliced meat at all! Potatoes were soggy and the gravy seemed to be the same whatever meat you chose. Truly disappointed as this used to be our Go-to place to impress visitors. Atmosphere and waiting staff still amazing. Such a shame about the food.
Stopped in for a pint and pizza, great cozy little place!
Very dog friendly which was lovely, friendly staff, only 3 stars as our food was hit and miss! The chips were not fully cooked. The large table was not attached to the legs so kept tipping quite alarmingly for the sake of a few screws! Food took quite sometime to arrive as well. But again we still liked the pub.
Used to love this pub but the food is absolutely horrendous. For months now I ve been served completely cheese free nacho plate. It won t matter if I ask extra cheese, I always get dry nachos. Shocking how this chef won t get fired/check what kind of plates they give out. Will be posting a photo of my last plate I was served - barely any cheese and none of it was melted. I sent the plate back and They brought it back after 2 minutes - obviously kitchen staff put the nachos in the microwave. Therefore all the nacho toppings were hot. Kitchen is a joke - where s your standards?
Served cold fish dish, the waitress did not understand that wazzing it up in the microwave and re-serving it wasn't best practice.
Fantastic pub, exactly what English pubs are supposed to be: cosy, quirky, with a buzzing atmosphere! One of my favourite pubs in Brighton
Good beer, nice staff, pleasant atmosphere...roof terrace a lovely surprise. Didn't eat but saw some meals and they looked lovely...will return.
Favourite pub in Brighton. True pub atmosphere, great food and drink and 2 unique terraces for smokers or those who prefer being outdoors. Lots of personality
An excellent boozer that is always buzzing. Great staff.
Pub restaurant with great atmosphere good food attentive and precise service. It is really worth
My favourite pub in Brighton, super cosy inside and on the roof garden. My only wish is that they had a better variety of ciders on tap.
Generally nice pub but last night s fish and chips wasn t nice to eat - but worse than that was that it kept everyone who ate it up all night on the toilet!
Make sure that doesn t ever happen again.. horrible experience!
Good food and friendly staff. The style of the place is really interesting and always has a nice atmosphere.
Great beer choice, but food service was poor (waited over an hour for food) and it was poor value for money.
Awesome food coupled with a lovely pint of Harveys! Loved it.
My favourite Pub in Brighton, not only have a very cosy and nice atmosphere also a week ago my best friend and I went for lunch and her toddler was crying and the waitress gave him some sticks of cucumber so he calmed down and we really appreciated how nice was her gesture.
This pub has everything. Loads of choice at the bar, plenty of cosy areas downstairs, fantastic restaurant above and two tiered beer garden with its own bar off the restaurant. They also have live music and show sports. An absolute winner.
Typical English pub, great food in a welcoming environment
Love this quirky pub... so many little nooks and crannies
Incredible pub. Different areas over 3 floors. Really good beer and food.
Have previously had some lovely meals here, however this time and last time very disappointed both times had to send food back because it wasn't cooked (stone cold fish). Waitress seemed to think this was acceptable. Won't be returning for a third time!
Asked for rare steak, given well done, when we questioned the staff we were told "that's the way it is! If you don't like it........."
We visited this evening for drinks and dinner with family we haven't seen for 6 months. Two of the party ordered seafood dishes which were great and my partner and I ordered bavette and a rib eye steak. We both asked for them to be cooked medium rare and when they arrived they were very well done.
We were about to send both steaks back when a waitress asked if we were happy. We showed her and she apologised and returned both dishes to the kitchen. She returned shortly to say that the 'head chef' wasn't prepared to cook any other steaks as they would be returned to us 'exactly the same' . She was apologetic and seemed fairly scared of the chef. She offered to check with the chef again to see if he'd 'changed his mind' . We told her not to waste her time but she dutifully returned to the table to say the chef was adamant that he wasn't prepared to cook either steaks medium rare as requested.
We were offered a drink as compensation, which went little way to fill our empty stomachs and the whole experience ruined our evening.
We left hungry, annoyed and sorry for the staff who have to deal with an arrogant 'head chef' who is seemingly unable to cook a steak and deal with any subsequent complaints about this.
Great food very busy and crammed but good atmosphere. Noisy as football on in the bar downstairs.
Best pub in the area with several rooms on different levels and a roof terrace.
Food lovely, staff friendly although a little inattentive. Still Brighton's best pub.
The environment is lovely there and always a good vibe. Food is delicious a d they do offer vegan and vegetarian options too so everyone is happy. Prices are not bad either.
Cosy vibe and good beer selection. Prices are very fair!
To be honest I live this pub split across loads of levels with all its bizarre oddities on the walls ...and drinking at the bar. Great food and atmosphere only downside is it's so popular it gets rammed
Really cool bar with excellent live music on a Sunday. Lots of different areas to sit in, making it perfect for any occasion.
Fantastic pub. Loads of nooks and crannies, great food and the best roof terrace I've ever seen.
Friendly staff, good beer, and a cheery atmosphere. A fine place to go to round off a trying Friday evening (power cut in my hotel meant a long wait in a dark foyer to be rehomed).
Probably one of the best pub in Brighton. Pretty wide selection of ales and spirits. Also good food and great atmosphere
Cozy pub with lots of hidden corners, friendly stuff and delicious roast!
Beautiful establishment on several floors, very characteristic.
Very friendly staff. Food amazing. Lovely, quirky surroundings. Would recommend this place to anyone.
Best old English pub yet and the food was fantastic great beers and wine's if you go to Brighton U.K. don't miss it
Lovely food and the place has a great vibe, nice personnel, I would definitely go back there again!
Booked a table for 8 of us for Sunday roast. Food was amazing, and customer service was great. Lovely pub with a spacious layout
Unless ur under 18 or desperately trying to relive ur student days, I would avoid this place like the plague. For drinking I think it's average but the food was borderline terrible.
Pizza was wet and oily, ham diced and would look great in a university canteen. Burger not cooked through properly and bun was like eating an entire loaf, cheese was completely forgotten but added later. The risotto was so sweet...... In fact, this review is pointless. Unless ur over 25 and not trying to relive the student days where u could go a week without a shower, which btw the downstairs smelt of, I'm just wasting my time writing anything further.
Try the Gingerman about 100m down the road.... Far superior.
Ps. If u put foie gras back on The menu il consider giving u another star.... Which by the way is not one bit cruel since they have no gag reflex and run towards the farmer for food.
Nice food - would have given 4 stars but they squeezed us into a tiny table right next to a family birthday party. Not comfortable furniture either.
Very disappointing. Lovely pub vibe but food overpriced and not great
Unfortunately I went in October and had their Oktoberfest special menu. I was very disappointed, found it bland, not tasty, and generally a choice I regretted. But the place and the waiting staff were great, my companions loved the beer steins and their contents, and I thought you'd would certainly go again but would choose from their regular menu next time.
We are on a Friday evening. It was busy. Good was rubbish. Rib eye steak was poorly cooked and chips were not cooked properly. Last time for me.
The manager offered me a great deal when I purchased a bottle of Tuaca. Friendly service and good value. Would you this venue
Hidden gem. Really good food til really late. Proper pub vibe. Surprisingly good roof garden in the summer.
This is one of the best pubs in Brighton
It has a great and varied selection of beers and an absolutely awesome roof terrace
It is open until late, so makes a good post pub, pub
It attracts quite an eclectic, mixed crowd which adds to is charm
The food is great with a dedicated dining area or bar service
The staff are friendly and down to earth
Cosy pub in a convenient location between Brighton and Hove.
We had a privat room on the top for birthday party. The room was dark, and the food, in my opinion, was mediocre in spite of creative sounding menu. For starter most of the people ordered asparagus, which came drenched in lots of bland goo. Completely spoiled the vegetable. Main dishes were mediocre each in it's own way.
Great place. Lots of little nooks and crannies. Bar staff v friendly.
Excellent pub with an equally good roast dinner. Can get very busy so plan ahead.
Stunningly atmospheric pub which manages to be both a living piece of history and a bang up to date venue for drinks. Divided into two floors of 'rooms' with soft lighting and cosy seats which makes it feel like a Georgian coffee house one minute and a club bar the next. Walls smothered with art; first floor outdoor decking area. Good service. The best pub I've been to in years.
It's a querky pub great staff, really relaxing, food excellent.
The venue is a beautiful if you like a traditional pub vibe. I got there for the late night menu and the large doeballs gave me food poisoning! Threw uo for a day and a half straight..
Great friendly pub. The food is great, especially the Sunday roast. They show sports and have a little roof terrace for when it is rarely sunny!
Great pub very friendly staff and the best nachos we've had!
Not as good as it used to be, and too busy at the weekends, but still a great pub
The worst fish plate in my life. Cant even imagine how stuff can serve food like this.
Great pub and amazing ambience.
The reason for two stars is the extremely small portion size for the price when eating in the upstairs restaurant.
At the time, another table also complained about the same issue.
Starter size for main and a main price is unacceptable. When this was brought to the attention of the staff, the reason given was good quality meat but. It was belly of pork..
Filled up with chips.
First time and the last for the food.
Pub ambience is great though.
Friendly service from bar staff who remember your previous order. She also made me laugh when I ordered the "American IPA"! No .... It's not an IPA, it's an APA - well I thought it was funny!
Excellent beer selection and food. What a typical pub would like to be.
Had a very nice meal with a group of friends lovely staff
Edit: At their beach street party right now. They are trying to charge EIGHT QUID for takeaway burgers at a street stand! F*** Right Off!!! That has lost them two stars. Eight quid is really taking the piss for a pound's worth of ingredients. When WILL pubs learn?
Fantastic multi-level Victorian pub with lots if little nooks and crannies. Part covered roof terrace with further sun deck.
Tourists please note: If you are in a large group and intend to visit wearing backpacks and sit there for hours sharing a single half pint of "warm beer" then please go somewhere else as you will ruin it for all the locals
This place is always worth a stop. One of the best arranged pubs in town. Chill corners to have a drink and a chat. Amazing internal terrace.
