Oft descriped as one of the best pubs in Brighton and it is reasy to see why.

A large, busy bar area (which always seems to have enough, well trained staff, to cope) leads onto a rabbit warren of tabled areas, nooks and even a handful of crannies.
Upstairs a full restaurant should you wish to dine away from the hubbub and up from there a superb roof terrace/beer garden/smoking area

A well run pub others should go to to see how it should be done!
Cheers.

One of the best pubs in Brighton. Traditional English pub. L&L has many floors, a very nice outside patio, & delicious food. We do the Monday night quiz, (which is tricky but worth it) and the staff are always so accommodating even when we can't make it. Thanks!

As a fellow Brighton bar worker, I regularly pop in for a post close and the everyone at the Lion, from the security to all the staff, are friendly, welcoming and professional.. It is a warm, fun, wonky pub with great ambience, decor, music and a fabulous roof deck for smokers or nons to enjoy year round.. One of the few pubs I genuinely admire and enjoy visiting

Pub OK, but the pumped up door man needs to learn some social skills. Went there last night and there were a group of us celebrating a 40th birthday and we were enjoying ourselves until said bouncer decided that one guy had had too much to drink, he was tipsy but so what? Its a pub and they sell alcohol. He was not misbehaving or anything but the ignorant door man took it upon himself to say he was drunk and should leave. Just ruined a very pleasant fun night. So if you want to have fun and a few drinks best you avoid this pub they obviously do not appreciate people spending a lot of money well there are plenty of other pubs where the staff are not so rude and obnoxious!

Terrible terrible experience. We ve had friends fly in from Singapore and San Francisco and was excited to bring them here. We had the steaks brought back to the chef 3 times and the red wine came out legit hot.

We had an amazing dinner here in the restaurant upstairs - the staff in the pub were so friendly and directed us upstairs despite is being early.

I would recommend the fish sharing board as it was an absolutely delicious and had a great selection to choose from.

I had the pork schnitzel for main and it was enormous yet beautifully cooked. Our waitress was so lovely and accommodating without disturbing us too much.

I would suggest this place to people looking for an upmarket pub lunch/dinner with something a little different to choose from than your average place.

Quirky pub with plenty of nooks and crannies, spread over three floors and with a rooftop outside space. The rear section of the ground floor is dimly lit with a speakeasy feel and overall it's very pleasant and relaxed. Go for a beer here, it's good!

This is my favourite pub in Brighton. Their outdoor terrace on the first floor is a summer staple and worth checking out. They also have a great menu. They don't have many vegan options, but the options that they do have are good. Vegetarians will be more than happy. There's a restaurant, terrace, traditional pub seating and more private booths. They pretty much have it all covered. Very lucky to call it my local.

As a born and bred Brightonian of 43 years I can tell you that this pub is loved by the people of the city. Such a great venue with so many nooks and crannies. The beer selection is great, the food is great, the atmosphere is great!
Very popular and so can get very busy.

It was my first time much to most of my parties surprise! Apparently everyone knows this place! My mate wanted me to see all the levels of this pub (lots) but with current rules, no space available upstairs - so, the manageress kindly gave me a small guided tour so I could see the place! What a venue! And thank you for that!

Well. All in all, this place is just excellent. Service absolutely superb despite how busy they were for footie matches.
Our waitress was an absolute doll - so patient and friendly, wish I could remember her name! Shoulder length mousy hair, young, tincy waist! (This info for the management, not the readers of review! )
The guys here are following the rules to the nail and are massively professional about it. Felt very safe. We encountered a hideously behaved individual trying to get in without a mask whilst we were out for fresh air. The front of house, bless him, nailed it - even when he experienced an absolute barrage of abuse from said individual. Total calm professionalism. Fantastic we were in awe to be honest.

I had the the chicken breast meal and OMG - the port gravy was OUT OF THIS WORLD Proper lush. Fabulous afternoon, thank you so much team!
I mean apparently I'm late to the party and everyone knows about you (I live out of area so gimme a break ) but I will be back!!!!!

The roast was poor quality compared to many other places in Brighton. The pork belly was dry (not sure how that is even possible) and the crackling was soft and not crunchy. The beef was nice but let down by the quality of the vegetables. The colli cheese was bland and didnt have a cheese sauce. They just grated some cheese ontop of it. Not going back as there are so many better places to have a roast dinner. To top it all off they couldnt make a gin and tonic and they overcharged...

Steer clear of the food here, we had to return most of our food because it was so under/over cooked. There are so many better places in Brighton - anywhere but here, seriously. The live jazz was great and a saving grace.

Not sure what people get excited about here. The food was poor, we were part of a big group so maybe the kitchens were overloaded. The pub itself is fairly dark and musty but I didn't see the terrace which is apparently a big sell. Obviously these things are very subjective but I was disappointed, especially when the place is so hyped.

This place is SO agreeable, that I just wish it was my local. Perhaps I will move location to rectify that.
Beer, wine, fodder, decor, staff.... everything is spot on.
Oh, and they show the football, stock Tyrell's crisps AND Marmite Twiglets.
Bliss, sheer bliss.

Lovely cosy pub, with restaurant style area upstairs and lots of nooks and crannies to hide in. Roof garden. Good selection of food week round. Excellent Sunday roasts but essential to book early for them.

Lion and Lobster: A Traditional Pub with a Unique Twist

If you're looking for a traditional pub experience with a unique twist, look no further than Lion and Lobster. Spread over three floors, this establishment offers something for everyone, from the cozy pub area to the elegant Regency Restaurant and the hidden terrace that's perfect for warm summer evenings.

Located in Brighton and Hove, Lion and Lobster is one of the oldest pubs in the area. Despite its age, it has managed to maintain its charm and character over the years. The interior is crammed with an eclectic mix of pictures, bric-a-brac, and other fascinating curios that give it a truly unique feel.

One of the best things about Lion and Lobster is how welcoming it feels. From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted by friendly staff who are happy to help you find your way around. Whether you're there for a quick drink or a full meal, they'll make sure your experience is enjoyable.

Speaking of meals, Lion and Lobster has plenty to offer on that front as well. The Regency Restaurant serves up delicious food made from locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. From classic British dishes like fish & chips to more exotic fare like Moroccan spiced lamb rump or pan-fried sea bass fillet with chorizo & butterbean cassoulet - there's something for every taste bud here.

Of course, no visit to Lion and Lobster would be complete without trying some of their excellent drinks selection. They have an extensive wine list featuring bottles from all over the world as well as local beers on tap including Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter which is brewed just down the road in Lewes.

But what really sets Lion and Lobster apart from other pubs in Brighton is its hidden terrace. Tucked away at the back of the building behind an unassuming door lies a beautiful outdoor space that's perfect for enjoying drinks or dinner al fresco during warmer months.

Booking online at LionandLobster.co.uk couldn't be easier either - simply select your preferred date/time/number of guests then sit back knowing everything will be taken care of when you arrive!

In conclusion, if you're looking for an authentic pub experience with great food & drink options plus plenty of character then look no further than Lion & Lobster! With friendly staff ready to welcome you into their homey atmosphere along with delicious meals made using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible – this place truly stands out among others in Brighton’s bustling scene!
