This restaurant is a diamond in the rough. Went with my parents and everything was wonderful. I couldn't finish half of what I ordered and ended up taking 4 to go boxes home and still left stuffed. The pulled pork on the hillbilly tacos is amazing along with fried green 'mater's. A must try if your in the Mt. Vernon area. Two thumbs Way up!
The fried cauliflower is OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious!!!! You simply must try it!
Considering my husband got food poison from a hamburger from this restaurant I don't recommend. I never give bad reviews.

This is your basic Americana, comfort food type place with a couple of twists. Most interesting to me were the hillbilly tacos.
However, I went with the farmers feast, which is a basic bowl of soup beans, cornbread cakes, and fried potatoes. The beans could have used a little salt, but the cornbread takes were tremendously delicious, as were the potatoes, both having just enough char from the frying.
Among the sea of fast food places along that stretch of interstate, this is a nice change of place and worth your support
Terrible service! Waited 20 minutes before we stopped a manager to get a server. Sandwich served with butts of onion and tomato s. Food was cold and over cooked. Figure that out! Never eat here!

Im from washington state and stopped in for dinner with my wife. Got to sample alot of great southern made food.Lasagna was great as well as the frog legs and fried green tomatos! Wife said the steak was great great environement and had the pleasure to meet the owners. Great people and great food!
Menu too extensive for their lack of staff. Stopped in for a quick meal on the way home. An hour and thirty minutes later we were back on the road. Our server did the best she could but there seemed to be no management present. Dirty tables outside when we got there and they were still dirty when we left. Once we got our food is was pretty good. Too many options for a decent place to eat. I won't be returning until I see real positive reviews. I hope they get better and do well.

Place was packed tonight and could have played a part in my review. Parking was a nightmare with no lines people were parked all crazy with huge gaps just small enough no car could fit in while others were parked in grass and mud. Table wasn't cleaned off when they sat us. Appetizer came with the food. And the food was just mediocre, not bad but not like momma made it.

Minus one star because the atmosphere felt more like my grandpa s house than a restaurant. Maybe we came on an odd night but the music was so quiet you could actually hear everyone talking at other tables.
Minus one star because the food was way too salty. Usually at restaurants they leave the salting and peppering to the customers preference but at this place the cook must ve had a salty taste bud because everything was way too salty.
Minus one star for comfort, you can tell that this place is a local restaurant with a lot of friendly people and friendly staff. But in my opinion the owners need to put a little bit of money into the benches and making this feel more like a restaurant.

A true gem in the rough. This is the go to sit down restaurant for Mt.Vernon. Clean, friendly, and much more. The style and class this place brings is a breathe of fresh air for this area. Prices are very reasonable and portions are very generous. The best this area has to offer no doubt about it!

Looking for a lunch option that wasn't a chain and stumbled on this gem!
Opening with fried green tomatoes that were perfectly done, we followed with fried fish and chicken livers both light, flavorful and each coated with a different breading. None of the fried foods were greasy but perfectly done, we also had fried okra and hushpuppies! This left us too full for dessert, but the homemade cobbler in individual Mason jars looked amazing!
Do stop, prices are reasonable and service is quick and friendly.

My family and I love to eat here. I agree with another review that described the restaurant as "Americana with a twist." Perfect description. Our meal was all around delicious. The sampler platter and cheese fries were amazing and the beef for the burgers was seasoned perfectly. I cannot wait to visit again!

They had a prime rib special that we ordered. It came out in a few minutes. Our server said they make them ahead of time. It was cold and dry.
A wonderful place to enjoy good food and good company. It has all the charm and friendliness that you would expect from a southern small town restaurant. The new outside bar area will be open soon and is sure to be the best gathering spot for dinner and drinks. When you stop by order the chicken bacon ranch panini, it's delicious.
Pretty good food, the service got better when they switched us to a different person mid meal. I think the first girl was new and overwhelmed.

Stopped in for breakfast today, showed up at the end of breakfast buffet. Staff was more than happy to restock buffet for us even though breakfast buffet was done. Food, staff and owner was great. Can't wait to stop back and sit out in the new outdoor bar!!

Only place that will deliver to where I'm at, is the only reason I order food from them. Order took an hour to be delivered food was cold potatoe skins were burnt had to talk to the delivery driver multiple times to get them to show up to the correct address. Only giving them two stars because they do delivery. That's really about it. If you order later in the night they give you the left overs and it's always cold when they deliver.

I really liked this place. If you like country cooking, this might be the place for you. I has fried fish with hush puppies, and french fries. It was the special, and was reasonably priced. Got full, and didn t eat all my fries, but everything was good. The service was good and they checked on us a few times.

We had stayed the night in the hotel across the street and needed a place to eat breakfast. So we came here. We were seated, and waited about 10 minutes for a server to take our drink order. I ordered coffee, my husband ordered soda, and my two daughters ordered milk. The server brought the soda and milk after another 10 minutes. My coffee was no where in sight. My daughters both took a drink of milk and made a face. They said it tasted bad so I smelled it then took a small sip and realized the milk was sour. So gross. The server checked on us after another 10 minutes passed and I told her about the milk. She said it was impossible because she had just opened the milk. I said my kids were not drinking sour milk and asked for water. I also asked where my coffee was and she said she was waiting on clean coffee cups. My coffee finally arrived after another 10 minutes or so. The food came 5-10 minutes later. The food was decent, so I have no complaints about that. The server only returned once after the food was delivered, and then brought a copy of the check eventually. The great thing was that a random person paid our bill so we had a free meal except for tip. Whoever you are, thank you very much!

We had great service, but the food was only mediocre. I can only speak about breakfast. The gravy for our biscuits was very bland. We had to add salt to it. Also, the potatoes were unseasoned and needed salt. The prices for the portions were great!!

On top of a mountain, warm country folks, good food at good prices. We try and visit when we are in the area. Christmas tree was decorated with pheasant feathers on the top. Really pretty and unusual.
Our first time to visit and it was amazing! Suvannah was our waitress and did an incredible job! She was very friendly and made us feel eight at home.
The food was cooked just right! Hubby got Hillbilly Tacos and I had the cubed steak and sweet tater. We were not disappointed!
We sat out where we were able to enjoy the wide view. And before we left a local woman came in and was singing. Amazing!!

We stopped while visiting Renfrow Valley. The water and tea tasted like it had come out of some old pipes. I ve never tasted anything so horrible in my life. We never got our bread with our meal. The waitress we had never came back around to check on our drinks very often. Thank goodness that Rhonda Vincent saved the night.

really poor service, messed up my order twice and refused to give me my money back for food I hadn t received until the owner got there. once the owner arrived he turned around and left and wouldn t talk to me. After calling back inside for third time the owners wife decided she could refund me but refused to come talk to me and sent a waitress out instead. the food we did get was small portioned and the sides tasted awful. would not recommend
Hillbilly taco (3) was clever, pulled pork and slaw on small cornbread pancake and pretty tasty, nice, different quick meal for a highway stop.
Great place. Family friendly. Chicken fried steak was really good and the Onion rings are huge. The Prices are low and a Family of 6 (4 grownups 2 kids) ate dinner for $60. Also the Breakfast buffet is $8. Owner as well as the staff are very friendly. I would def come back.

My wife and I came into town this weekend for the David Allan Coe concert. We were really looking forward to trying the Limestone Grille. We had one of the worst dinning experiences I can remember having. We ordered the Limestone Bites. They were great, but they were described on the menu as "Jalapeno Pinwheels". Pinwheels? No just pickled Jalapeno slices straight out of a jar. Nothing special, just misleading. Next, we ordered our food. I wanted the Limestone double decker. The picture and description is on the Limestone Grille's Facebook page. It's not on the menu so I asked the waitress if they had it and described that it was two quarter pound patties. She said no I had to choose between 1 quarter pound patty or 1 half pound patty. She told me a 1/2 pound patty is bigger than I thought. No, a 1/2 pound patty is 1/2 pound patty I've had one many times and I know how big it is, it's not bigger than I think. Anyway, that's what I ordered, and she asked me how I wanted it cooked. I requested medium. I also asked for a side of beer cheese because it's house made and I wanted to try it. She said couldn't give me a side of beer cheese did I just want a "Slice" I told her I didn't think it came sliced and she cut me off and said no it was sliced so I said ok give me slice of beer cheese on the side. So our food comes out, my wife ordered Chicken Fried Chicken with a salad. It came out without the cream and gravy. We didn't bother to complain about that though. It also came out without the salad. We told the waitress about the salad and she said she'd bring it right out. My burger cooked supposedly medium was just cooked well done and completly dry. Why even ask how I want it? It also was undressed. Just cheese and bun. The menu states the burger comes dressed. So my slice of beer cheese was actually exactly what I thought it'd be, not a slice but a scoop like I tried to explain to the waitress in the first place. It wasn't on the side it was stuck right in the middle of my burger so I had to scrape it off because that's not what I wanted I just wanted to try it out. My drink came full and I was thristy so I drank it down right off the bat. We were there for probably 45 minutes to an hour and it wasn't refilled even once. That salad? No where to be seen. So we asked again. The waitress came back by several times. Still no salad. We asked again she said she'd go get it, again. She left and came back without the salad, again. We asked again and by this time we had litteraly finished dinner and paid the bill. She left to get the salad to go and came back without the salad. I was litteraly embarrassed to even ask about it again. We had asked at least four times over a half an hour. We just left without the salad we paid for, but I was more upset that I had actually tipped the waitress. At the point when I wrote in the tip I actually thought I was going to get the salad, but honestly this waitress didn't deserve a single cent for a tip. What a horrible experience and a complete waste of time and money. I just wish we would have picked literally anywhere else in Mount Vernon to eat, and I'll never recommend this place to anyone or ever go back.
This was a long awaited stop on our way home from the lake. With that said I could kick myself in the teeth for not having tried this restaurant sooner, as the food was really really good, and of big portions especially for the price. Will return with a bigger appetite next time!
This place was clean and tastefully decorated. We had a nice view from on top of the bluff. The breakfast was tasty, but our server, Tyler, was the real MVP. He made the experience even more enjoyable with his friendly, upbeat attitude and stellar service.
Cute little place on a hilltop with great views! I had the hillbilly tacos and they were AMAZING! I highly recommend them! It seems to be what they're known for, and they were great! Definitely be back. Our waitress was friendly, and its very clean!
The place looks nice and clean inside . The bacon was under cooked and cold,. The gravy had no sausage in it but alot of pepper in it. The toast was so hard it broke when putting butter on it . The fried potatoes we great and the eggs cooked well. I would still stop here because I have not tried there lunch or dinner yet. It had really good reviews it was a let down for breakfast . The staff was very nice and a nice clean place .
