Joe and Rika Mansueto Library Review

Very cool bubble library. Certainly gives you a nice view of the sky.

Love it! Incredible space to work on your own. The only small problem is that the AC does a rattling noise that might be a nuisance for some.

Bubble libraries have become a bit of fad in modern achitechure but its hard to deny the utility of the lovely natural light and long desks in a dome kept hushed by a pleasant white noise. I knew they offered monthly tours, but the circulation desk person was willing to take me and my parents on a tour downstairs to see the robotic stacks because it wasn't too busy.

Did not have the chance to go inside the library. But I can imagine how fantastic the experience would be to study inside

It is very unique the only one that has the crane working 6 floor underground. I recommended to go in and check it out. I shared some pictures showing the crane in action down in the basement.

Mansueto is a gorgeous building and a great place to study if you are ok with not making any noise and don't mind the air conditioning hum. If you are coming to campus for a visit, make sure to call ahead and see if you can get a tour of the robot arm book retrieval system, because it is super cool!

Very cool bubble structure (it was used as a "laboratory" in the movie Divergent).

Quiet place to work. Temperature is sometimes extreme (both hot and cold). Ceiling is transparent, so studying here during a thunderstorm is highly recommended.
