This must be the worst setup for cars to enter and exit. The queue to get this evening is an absolute disaster. The fact that you still have to pay for this service is even more questionable. We've been trying to get out of here for over 20 minutes and still waiting to get out!!!!

I called from London, UK to ask to say goodbye to my dying mom this morning. She was in the Medical ICU at Flora Clinic and I got put through to Sister Kgomotso Machaba, who without hesitation gave me her mobile number to call, because the landline wasn't great. She went above and beyond, taking the phone to my Mom, even though she was not conscious, she put the phone next to my Mom so I could say goodbye, she did this huge kindness for me, even though she could have just refused because of the bad line or the fact my Mom was not conscious. My Mom died this afternoon. Without her thoughtfulness I would have never been able to do tell my Mom I loved her. What an asset this wonderful lady is to your hospital! Thank you, Sister Machaba, from the bottom of my heart.

Have been waiting at reception for two hours after my completed admission form was handed in. No one has made any effort whatsoever to explain to me why I have to wait that period of time to be admitted with lung infection and possible embolism in lung

Even after requesting feedback....10min later...still no feedback. If you are really ill stay away from this place

As a specialist I'm am profoundly blown away by the level service and acumen of the staff including the doctors. You tell a doctor that has been diagnosed with meningitis that they cant close the curtain between the beds, even though it hurts your eyes, because each patient much check on the next one. Wait for this one- a sheet over ones thighs moving on a wheelchair caused you to collapsed and burst into fever. How does this hospital continue to survive. I keep asking myslef how foolish I must be.

A patient developed a bedsore 2 weeks ago. Went to visit. At 18:00 I asked the nurse whether the bedsore is improving. Her reply was that she only noticed it now. What I would like to know is at what time do their shift start. Secondly they clean the patient ' dentures but don't clean his mouth or wipe his mouth.

Absolutely disgraceful. NEVER USE THIS HOSPITAL

Absolutely disgraceful. NEVER USE THIS HOSPITAL

Staff are moronic and incompetent. Lack of any urgency, hospital procedures and knowledge of medicine at all.

We waited 4 hours for script medication because they did not submit it. General nurses here are pathetic and useless.

0 stars would be an overrated review. WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. DISGUSTING AND THAT'S A COMPLICATED.

PLEASE NEVER USE THIS PLACE.

RATHER USE WILGEHUEWEL OR OLIVEDALE.

Went to visit a family member. Cannot comment on the hospital and services but the parking facility is a joke, its absolutely pathetic. Took me almost 15 minutes to exit the place. The ticket system appeared to be non funtional and the guard was having to open the booms (two of them), manually. If you charging me, then please get your act together and sort out the parking.

Double standards for visiting hours I drive almost 100 km to see my mother ,I asked if there are hours in the morning or early afternoon and was told strictly stern no. But today 13:30 and earlier other visitors were allowed. If such strict guidelines as per your regulations to adhere too why the double standards. Pathetic indeed

Their service is pathetic, my gran went into theater on Friday 11th May she didn t see the surgeon before the operation and after the operation, she wasn t told about the procedure that took place nor was she told about the outcome. Now we have been advise that she may go home this morning on the 14 May after various phone calls to inquire what to do next with the wound, one wonders how many patients prior to my gran has already complained about this before and how long will this carry on, and nothing gets done about this. Also while my gran is in hospital they washed her then they dried her with a patient theater gown, cause she was told that there weren t clean towels. To my knowledge patients can be infected with bacteria which could cause to further complications. I m disgusted about poor service from flora clinic.

I would like to say thank you to staff and Flora.. I ended up in 24 hour Emergency and then admitted. All staff in FEMINA Ward B were absolutely wonderful. They staff (night and day), went out of their way to help and nothing was too much trouble.
Staff had smiles and all of them had a wonderful sense of humour.
Surprisingly the food was really pleasant too.

Terrible!! My mother in law is visiting from cape town. We took her to the emergency unit at 03h45 on Friday morning (20 Dec) after she complained of pain in the chest and unable to breathe . The staff here were fantastic. The problems started after she was admitted to ICU. Two days without breakfast!!! It is now Sunday and still nobody is telling us what is wrong with her. Disgusting!! Arrived for visiting hrs on Sunday afternoon after 15h00 and her lunch not touched. She can not help herself. Maggots crawling around waste bins...

I was absolutely amazed by the cleanliness of this hospital, from Reception to the ward. Also, the Reception staff were courteous and friendly. Ward nurses were helpful, friendly and professional and theater staff too. Only negative, no cushions on bed on arrival, but it was explained by a ward nurse. Appreciated the safe to keep valuables in. Also, the lady who oversees food dropping by to see if we were satisfied with food is a bonus. I'd recommend this hospital and above all Dr Tager the Cardiologist and Dr Basson the Anaesthetist.

This afternoon I went to see my mom who was admitted last night and forgot to switch off the car lights. When I got to my car, the battery was completely dead. A security officer and a guy from the gate office pushed my car to try to get it to start, to no avail. We pushed the car into a parking bay and I called my husband. About 10 minutes later, the security guy returned with jumper cables and a stranger pulled his bakkie up. They connected the cables and a few minutes later I was set to go. Wow! Thank you so much for going the extra mile - much appreciated!

If there were 0 stars I'd give it to Flora. Useless. No communication. No urgency. Spending 3 nights for an operation that should MAYBE have been for ONE night. You won't see us again. Granted, the nurses are friendly and welcoming - their setup is unorganized and patient communication is nonexistent.

Good Day

Good Day

I recently (8 February 2020 at approximately 14:30) took my 1 month old daughter to the trauma unit at Life Flora Hospital as she was not well.
She had cramps and her stomach was hard.

After the initial checks done by the nurse where they checked her blood pressure and weight, we were directed to go into a cubical and a different nurse took over who was very helpful.
My Partner and I explained the situation to her and she spoke very kindly and said she is going to get the doctor.

It took over 10 minutes for Dr Mahri to come and he came with a white lady and instead he was making jokes.
When he saw the baby he just from a distance saw and walked away and came 5 minutes later discussing with a white lady in casual about another patient and dissapeared for another 5 minutes.

My daughter was not well and we were extremely stressed about it.

When he eventually came the first thing he said was "you dont deserve to have another child if you cant handle this one". We kept quiet as I needed the help for my daughter.
The next thing he said was "where is her granny's because they should look after her because you guys are incapable of it".

He then took his fist and started banging my daughters stomach and instead of speaking to us as her parents he spoke to that white lady and started laughing and then he lifted my daughter by her stomach skin.
He still never told us anything.
All he said was go for an xray.
And walked out speaking to the white lady and he said "flippen kids hey".

He came back and just out the xray letter on the bed and walked away without explaining whether we need to come back or what should we do.

The friendly nurse then explained to us where to go and what to do and I told her that I do not appreciate the treatment we are getting from the doctor and it seemed as if he couldn't care less about what was going on.

We got to the radiology department and my partner went into the xray room with the radiologist and my daughter.
When they came out my partner told me that he hurt my daughter by turning her over just by her arm and he stepped on her dummy.
I asked for his name. (please find attached picture)

After we left, not knowing where to go or what to do a cleaner directed us and explained to us.

Once we returned to the cubical, the friendly nurse came to us and said the Dr Mahri is on the phone with my daughters paediatrician.

After waiting a few minutes he walks in yet again having a fat chat with the white lady and he stood there for 5 minutes discussing something completely irrelevant in that situation and he looks at me and starts laughing and starts drawing something which had no relevance and all he says is that she has has and he will prescribe medication and change in formula and disappears and comes back gives the prescription and starts laughing again and says is there anything else because apparently you not happy so I asked him is there a complaints department and he threw a form on the bed and says there you go and here is my name do all you can.
He then walked out and I spoke to my partner about his attitude and he comes back and says there's no need to be flippen rude.

The nurse came 5 minutes later and explained what we now need to do.

Is this the type of service medical experts should provide.
It is a life and death situation and people who have such a bad attitude and handle babies to give them pain is really horrible.

Emergency unit - NO asthma inhalers for emergencies?! Really?! I drove to Flora Clinic because I was having an asthma attack and when I got to casualty I was in dire need of an inhaler to help me breathe....but none were available. I was given oxygen to breathe which is NOT what one needs when having an asthma attack and I had to wait nearly 3 hours for a cortisone drip. Yes it was busy but I think they should have at least had an asthma pump on hand.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL !! Terrible, my gran has been admitted to ICU and for 2 weeks they took the worst care of her, she has TONS of bed sores, the nurses are RUDE as anything, they do not care and they also have no idea whats happening. She got booked out?? They said she's fine for her to be admitted back in 2 days later with the same problems!!! This is extremely unethical and should be taken higher. If she could go to another hospital she surely would. There has to be some sort of action taken against this hospital.

This hospital and stalf and doctors don't know what they are doing. My gran died of cancer in your hospital. You treated her for heart complications when it was cancer. Medicalaid drained them sent home. Then when we got her to a higher package you sucked the money out again while putting her in isolation for a bug she didn't even have and then 2 days before she died you figured out she has cancer yet she was in your hospital for almost 3 months in total. Disgusting

This is just a meeting place for injured people, Emergency ward is outsourced, x-rays outsourced, hospital bed a different bill, at the end of my emergency they billed everything to my Medical Savings, and i was left without recourse or any funds left on my MSA, instead of billing it to my hospital plan as per the emergency, then after that had to pay all the rehabilitation out of pocket, long story short, i now owe the hospital money, they x-ray department money, and the outsourced doctor money, after a huge fight with the hospital, and settling tha bill, ensuring me all is done, the next wave off bills from all the other "un-associated" just share a roof vendors started coming in. Worst admin. And i can assure you, you don't go for x-rays in the middle of the night with a bleeding broken finger because you are bored. Its an emergency....

Identified as a private hospital but you are treated as if you're in a public hospital and even worse. My wife had to wait 24 hours before they had to remove her appendix.

Treating doctor at the trauma unit could not identify the issue upfront. My wife had to raise the appendix issue which the nurse had to tell the doctor to send her for a CT scan.

Far too many complaints and zero f%#ks given!

The on call emergency doctor on Tuesday evening, 22 March 2016, was absolutely incredible. She really cared and kept me and my beloved's parents in the loop about his condition and treatment.
The service afterward wasn't the best... The assigned doctor never communicated with us with regards to the patient's condition and treatment plan. Some days he wouldn't even see the patient. The nursing staff was mostly very helpful. Some bad attitude here and there though.
All and all, the patient is stable and coming home soon. Thanks to all the staff involved. It was a job well done.

Difficult one. Staff in general are very good. But there are some things they could do much better in. Dr told me I can go home at 7am,at 10:30 I'm still waiting for them to remove the drip and give me my discharge papers.
When I booked in my pre done documents were missing and had to be redone, my bed didn't have have a pillow. After surgery I had to ask again for a pillow.

Further to this the room I was in had a light on that couldn't be switched off

Pathetic Pathetic Pathetic. Doesn't even deserve a half a star!!! ER running on 2 drs when extremely busy. Waiting to see dr for more than 2 hours. Had to clean own wound. Couldn't give medication only script due to pharmacy that closes at 20h00 pathetic shouldn't there be a 24/7 pharmacy? Dr has no idea what he is doing had to consult with the nurse. Wondering if anybody ever follow up on these complaints. Looking at the reviews this has been going on for a few years now! Edit: A shoutout to Sister Mavis from ward B for her superb care, along with the whole team from the wards! The ED can take some notes!

The Staff were very helpful. Everything was clean and professional, which of course is a vital aspect of a medical building.

My husband has been in ICU for over 2 weeks, and each time I call during these 2 weeks, i'd be able to speak to him on hospital cellphone. My husband has unfortunately required admission to the hospital and the experience is very mixed. The doctors and nurses are wonderful and competent. In fact all the clinical staff. The accident and emergency department excels, with efficent support and clinical staff. They deserve 5 stars!
Unfortunately the same can not be said for the support staff in the rest of the hospital. Reception (for admission) was excruciately slow, with only one clerk to handle all the admissions. Some of the patients waited for over 3 hours to be admitted! Totally unexceptable!
The renovations are a major problem, with patients having to walk long distances to the doctors rooms, with little sign posting. We followed the signs and still got lost.
Thank you to Accident and Emergency - you were great, and thank you to the doctors and nurses, who are working in a difficult environment.

There is no option of 0 stars...

I came to hear of shocking stories of how the elderly are treated.
Please look into the way the staff treat elderly people who can not fight (or maybe even speak) for themselves.

One incident (Ward B - 1st floor): the night of 6 October a lady fell from her bed. She was helped back to her bed by the night staff. But they refrained from putting up the rails to prevent her from falling off again.

Early hours of 7 Oct 2016, a lady was bleeding profusely - literally liters of blood streaming from her leg where she had a procedure done, in her bed, she was lying in all this blood. The bell was rang a few times, and no-one put urgency to the matter. She could have bled herself to death.
Why would the staff fight with an elder person who have no control of a bladder / running stomach? As if it is not embarrassing enough to have an accident, the staff embarrass the people even more.

It is absolutely shocking! A private hospital, giving service like this. I don't even want to know what is going on in other wards.

Very disgusted by Flora clinic.

Very disgusted by Flora clinic.
My son flew from CT to JBH to have an emergency procedure
after I contacted Flora and specifically told them we are on Delta Med Aid (Discovery) they told me its not a problem we took him in and after being on the drip and waiting for a doc we were then told (2 hours later) they cant treat him and if they do we would have to do a co payment of R8000 they told us to go to sandton they still have to nerve to charge us. Sandton told us the same thing and said we must go to wilgeheuwel where fortunately the decent staff at Wilgeheuwel told us
we at the right place. Explained everything in detail admitted him and did the procedure. he basically went to 4 hospitals in 2 days
the staff at Flora clinic is no different to that of Helene Joseph. They don't that a patient can be treated there if its an emergency whether on Delta or not. That's how patients die because of their ignorance!!!!!!!!!

What a pathetic clinic. My mom went in this morning of the 15th of May. She has abdominal pain and bleeding. She is as white as a sheet. First my father had to go and get her file, they did not sent the file with her, then the specialist, a Dr Botha, said he will go and see to my mom when his rounds are done. And I the meantime my mom is lying in pain and weak from blood loss. She can't even keep her eyes open. If anything should happen to her world war 3 will break in Flora Clinic. It is now worse than Helen Joseph Hospital or any one of the other state hospitals.

Terrible !!! My Dad was taken via ambulance this morning at 10 am. He has had 2 massive strokes in the past 8 years. He was running a temp of 39 degrees and was throwing up dark brown stuff that looked like blood. My mom waiting in her car for over two hours without any update . After phoning the hospital the manager told me she would investigate. Got a call phone her and she referred to him as "she" ...so did she actually know who she talking about??.. she also told me he is being transferred to the icu. When phoning the icu about 4 hours later no one knew where he was, so I called all their icu wards, no one knew where he was.. (note we were told it's touch and go with his life as he is so sick) my mom phone the doctor after trying the entire day just to be told she cannot have any information about his condition as she isn't his wife (they have been together for over 20 years and is his primary care giver on her medical aid) , I had to call and find out what was going on. The hospital took an hour to figure out where my dad who is no verbal and has dementia ... just to find out he is still in the trauma unit at 7pm from 10am this morning?? What type of hospital is this?? We are still waiting for news??

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS HOSPITAL. This is the worst, unprofessional service I have ever experienced. The staff will deliberately hide medical issues from the family of the patient and conduct unethical practices such as drinking wine and partying at night when visiting hours are over. I am also a witness to them tying down elderly people during the night and when something bad happens like the person stops breathing all they do is try cover their tracks by asking the other patients if they saw anything . If you happen to lose a loved one at this hospital they will give you no reason except these things happen . Good luck to you if you decide to go to this hospital.

Worse service I felt as though I was in public hospital, I actually heard one of the nurses telling another one that I am being dramatic after I told her I was getting an anxiety attack saying she needs to knock off. She left without giving me anything to calm me down..I had to ask a different nurse.

Usually we experience good treatment and professionalism from Flora but on 21 Feb, Ward H and Dr Pillay's team was terrible. The below video shows how the files are left for almost 10 minutes with no nurse in site. Files not at the patient's bed nor did the nurses even know who my partner was! He went in for an angiogram through the arm to check for a blockage.
After being wheeled off to theatre, he waited an hour and half as they came to him saying they were looking for him in maternity!
Dr Pillay, anesthetist or no other Dr came to see him before surgery to explain anything.
In surgery, Dr Pillay wasn't even sure what procedure was to be done either and took them a few minutes to find out why he was there.
After surgery, no blood pressure tests or nurses to be found, even though he still had a drip in him. I had to request that this be taken out.
I sat there the whole day (working from the bedside) and heard how the nurses were gossiping about Dr's, each other as well as how short staffed they were, yet they could sit at the ward H reception and "klets" the whole day.
We kept asking, when can we go, but by 6pm, they said Dr Pillay will book us out soon, just finishing with a patient. Eventually, after some harsh words, a nurse came to check on him but she couldn't even tell us what my partner was in for! Yes, that's right... they cut off the bands in theatre, never replaced them and so they didn't even know who they were talking to.
By 8.30 pm the nurses got hold of Dr Pillay who had just left without even seeing the patient!!!! According to him, the patient left without being discharged - that's what the nurse said to him, but I was right next to the nurse and she said he WANTS to leave, not that he had left.
Today - 16 March, we get a Discovery authorisation for my partner to report to Donald Gordon for surgery. We phone Discovery and find out it's for some catheter insertion... Phone Dr Pillay's offices, they also don't know... They will look into it and who did the authorisation...
I call Life Healthcare Head Office too to look into Dr Pillay as something is not right with this whole incident.
We will never use Dr Pillay again or be in ward H!

You may advertise 24/7 but in reality your doctor's/ specialists are just available during normal hours. One friend and one family member going through your inefficiency. Make money. That Is your motto.
