The service is really bad. Went there for 3 times.
Last time was our for sure the last time ever.

2 of us walked in and waited at the bar entrance. The staff was about to start new shift.
Nobody talked to us or made an eye contact for 10 minutes. Then we turned around and start leaving when manager was chasing us. And we said no thank you.

The other times also everything is so average and nothing special. Place is old feels old and smells old.

I've been a member at the Library now for a couple months and all the staff are great. They're friendly and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

More recently I dined at Saint Luke's Table which is down stairs and the food was 10/10, the whole experience was amazing. I'd strongly recommend the Venison Filet if you love your meat!

I came for dinner to try out the new menu offering and it was out of this world and the cocktails are insane. The manager Laila was really friendly and made myself and my mum feel so welcome, im definitely returning to try the dessert next time!!

Helpful & friendly staff. Nice place to work, have a drink, meet with friends, and check out events. Dined at the casual restaurant twice already so far. The pizza is good & the salad is alright. Will try the St. Luke's Restaurant next week.

I had an enjoyable experience at the members club. I was met by a lovely host Shannon Lawes that took me to a table and provided me exceptional service. It did not feel forced, and we had a really good conversation. The environment is exceptional and I highly recommend this club.

Members club and hotel. For a private bar, it's extremely affordable if you're on a deal, but if you're paying full price for membership, it doesn't stack up in comparison to other newer and more slick clubs.

It is a little tired in places, the decor is aging a little, the books on the shelves are little more than a nod to the concept) and the kitchen churns out basic but acceptable food.

However, there's a more diverse crowd here than the usual member club, the events all have a literary bent, and there's great support for emerging talent.

The event calendar is worth exploring, and members also accrue points the more they get involved with the club, from simply attending, to buying drinks, all the way to getting involved in the members board, or supporting the charity of the year.

It's well located for Central London, only a couple of stops from Waterloo, and walking distance from Charing Cross.

I look forward to seeing the club develop over 2019.

What a cool place! A 'secret' speakeasy downstairs with a unique entranceway and amazingly tasty cocktails. The mixologist really knew her stuff and the twists on the classic cocktails were great.

Had a great time here with some friends for some after-work drinks and food. Our host Emma was very accommodating and made our visit pleasant from start to finish. Will definitely return and can recommend Library to others thinking about going.

This has been a stressful year of membership with very little benefits. I joined a year ago and had to literally BEG them to give me a tour of the facilities and any kind of induction. Was a bit of a joke and they gave me attitude from day More

As members' clubs go this has it's highlights...a few actually. A fake front house opens into a narrow bar area (the only criticism for when it gets busy). Grab your drinks and move on. A lounge area at the back and a staircase to the next floor. Here is the magic area...grab a pew and enjoy your drink. For those in need of a breath of fresh air the basement area opens up into a secluded bay area...discretion soaks through this venue. One of the best I've been to

I had a wonderful time during my first visit to the Library. The decor is amazing and food is sensational. I visited upon the recommendation of Shanon Lawes who was extremely accommodating and informative upon arrival. The library is a must visit and thank you to everyone who my visit enjoyable. I will definitely be returning very soon.

Not really sure who would pay to become a member here. It's woefully empty and feels like it might have been vague trendy five years ago. We went to the Dear Alice pop-up which was supposed to have an "utterly nonsensical" setting (taken from the website), but which was exactly the same as every bar pretending to be speakeasy-style in London. The room was empty throughout the evening; we were the only guests from 22:00 - 00:30...Despite the guy at the entrance refusing to refund us for our sick friends who couldn't come, since apparently they'd had to reject other bookings for the same night. Cocktails were okay. Snacks were fine. The Alice in Wonderland theme was nowhere to be seen apart from in the cocktail names.

I have never stayed at the hotel, but have been to many events there and have even hosted my own event last summer. It was a lady called Shannon Lawes who was extremely helpful and a pro at coordinating and organising my night there. She not only made me feel at ease but was an absolute pleasure to be around and made sure me and my team had a wonderful time. I will definitely be visiting again...especially if I know Shannon Lawes will be hosting!

The bar didn t have the ingredients for half the drinks on the menu and the staff had little clue about how to make any of the drinks. Perhaps they should stick to wine and beer if they can t get staff with the right skills. It s supposed to be a private members club but on a Saturday night they let in anyone who pays the entry fee with the bar turning into a downmarket nightclub.

The bar was awful!!! The music was so loud that you could not have a conversation. I spoke to two of the staff but they were not willing to turn the volume down. There were not enough bar staff and people had to wait for up to 20 mins for a drink. It was an awful experience.

I have been in a number of times most recently to St Luke s table. The food was exceptional and the staff were very attentive to all the guests at the table. I will definitely be back again!

Such a relaxing place to visit, super friendly staff, air conditioned, exercise classes and a sailing for pampering. If you or a friend are a member, go enjoy this wonderful space away from the hustle and bustle. You can even borrow a book, say hi to the Librarian for me ;)

Recently attended with a few friends, this place is incredible! Fantastic atmosphere and food. We ended up staying there for longer than we planned, the staff were all really lovely and accomodating. Emma tanner who hosted our tour of the club really took the time to show us everything and speak to us individually about our interesets, fantastic experience all around would 100% go again!

Very upmarket place for drinks and meetings. I felt it was very cramped and expensive but I guess comparible with other London bars of a similar vain. Not for me, but good for people who want an exclusive place in central London for a casual meeting

We went to see an open Mic night here. What a great place, plenty of atmosphere. One of the musicians was particularly good. His name was Joshua James, and he was playing songs from his new Ep Foundation. Brilliant!!

I am always happy when I use this Chic and classy venue. The service is amazing Sofia who is part of the management team always ensures things run smoothly. I hosted 3 birthday parties here and I literally do not have to worry about anything. Excellent service.

I came here to meet a friend who was a member and during my short visit, I was not particularly enthralled. The place was dim and a bit less swanky than what I would expect from a private members' club.

I rate this 5 stars and would like to express how happy I am with my experience. They re was excellent customer service provided by staff, especially from the manager on duty, he was very helpful when I was seeking guidance and is a lovely character. Due to the excellent facilities provided, and warmth I have received from the manager, I would most definitely urge people to go there.

I came to visit the Library to enquire about becoming a member. On my arrival I was greeted by a very warm, welcoming young lady called Shannon Lawes, she gave me an amazing tour and provided me with all the information I needed. She gave a fantastic first impression of the place and I will definitely be back joining as a member!

The library is a lovely bolt hole in a fantastic location. You can walk in, disconnect from the world and unwind. But the thing that elevates it above and beyond is it s people. Most notably Sofia Foster. Always a great host; welcoming, knowledgeable about the club and intuitive about guest needs. She makes the club feel like a home. Exceptional service every time!

At the start of this month, I went to the library as despite being a private member s club, you can still dine at their restaurant- St Luke s.

I automatically loved the theatrics of the restaurant with popular historic novels placed on the dining tables for reading, emphasising that the club is one big library. I was also informed that as a member of the club, you can check out any of the books in the Library.

Upon arrival, Jean-Baptise greeted my friend and me, he was to be our waiter for the night. I quickly felt reassured, as Jean knew the menu very well and has worked in the food/drinks industry for some time. He aided in selecting our bottle of house wine, the 2016 Pinot Grigio, Graves Del Friuli, San Simone. I was right to go with Jean s choice, as this wine is rich, sweet and refreshing, I would later find out that this wine would pair nicely with my chosen courses. I always did prefer Italian wine!

He recommended the salmon and avocado maki rolls with Jalapeno mayo and soy sauce. This is the most popular starter amongst guests, dining at this restaurant; I was content with this choice as I adore Japanese and Asian inspired cuisine. The maki rolls are a little on the crispy side, but nevertheless still delicious, especially when dipped in the jalapeno mayo, which aids in flavouring the rolls with subtle spice.

My guest is vegetarian, so she had the artichoke soup with cobnuts, truffle oil and served with a rustic roll. My friend allowed me to taste a bit of the artichoke soup and I would describe the soup as thick, creamy and filling. What I do appreciate at this restaurant is the variety of vegan/vegetarian starter options, that the library hosts.

For my main, I chose the 25-day aged 8oz rib eye with Cornish leaves, which originally is paired with triple cooked chips. However, I opted for the Jersey mash potatoes instead, also adding a panache of winter veg. I chose to have my steak cooked medium-rare because, in my opinion, that is how a steak should be cooked. The steak was marinated and seasoned well, which could be tasted with every bite that I ate. The steak was soft and a little on the tender side, which I was glad about as I prefer it when my steak is a little chewy. Served with the jersey mash, which is creamy in texture and savoury in taste, and with a bit of mustard sauce, this was the perfect main.

For my friend, she chose the vegan burger; roasted sweet potato with chickpea and burnt pepper sauce. My friend described the burger as tasty and a great combination and use of vegetables. I am glad she really enjoyed the burger, as often when we go for dinner, she is frequently limited for food choices, due to her vegetarian diet, so it was great that she had a selection of dishes to choose from.

After dinner, we were given a tour of the club, as the Library offer space for meetings and launches for its members, which is great as you can have a meeting or private dining with discretion.

After the tour, we headed down to the private member's main bar for cocktails. I chose the Roald Dahl, as I am a big Gin lover! My friend chose the Dino Buzzati. I love the fact the drinks are named after famous authors; this has a nice touch to the bar. The bar has a nice vibe with a live DJ, who was playing songs from the 90 s.

I would avoid this at all costs. My partner joined last year for special membership and the whole experience has been a disaster. Firstly, the club itself is tired, dirty and lacking atmosphere. The service is beyond amateur- we have been 24 times in the last year and every single occasion the staff struggled to deliver an experience even close to that of a harvester pub. The space is cramped and uncomfortable. The food selection is average but very far from what you expect from a members club . Most upsetting of all is how the bookeeper holds you to ransom over the terms and conditions and any infringement on the offer- they will take money from you immediately- even in error as on 2 occasions the club has been closed meaning we were unable to visit... getting any money back due to error on their part has now taken over 2 months. We could excuse some of the above, like service and general atmosphere and put that down to tough economic conditions and staffing issues. But the lack of understanding and the fact that we have been tied in for another years worth of membership down to a technicality to us illustrates a business that doesn t understand its customer and that an offer such as this ties people in to at least a years worth of sub-par dining and drinking experiences. A real shame as we were genuinely excited about the membership and what it could offer- the reality is quite different and worthy of scepticism...

Do not get a membership at this place. The overall experience of the bar/restaurant left a lot to be desired. But the worst of it was that they felt necessary to lock me into a contract that I didn't agree to be in. The sent an automated email after a year of membership telling me it was about to expire, then a few days later took money from my account and told me I had renewed for another year. See the attached image for their response when I tried to cancel!!

Great bar with warm and friendly service (if a little slow at times). The food is very reasonable and nice. It can get crowded on a Friday night so get there early to grab a seat and ask about this weeks cocktail special.

The service needs to be better, the pizzas on the menu tastes so authentic but I just feel the overall vibe of the venue is still lacking. They Definitely need to create a better customer experience.

As a founding member of library we have seen the ups and downs of this establishment.

One thing that has always been of a high standard is the staff, they are very friendly and always at hand for any assistance. We've held a few events at library and continue to do so. There is always someone willing to help our events run smoothly especially one individual named Sakira, she s a bright young lady and is always attentive.

Lovely space for events and socialising, definitely recommend.

A few of my friends recommended that I go to Library as it has great atmosphere there and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Well, I was definitely not disappointed. I was greeted by a lovely girl called Shannon Lawes. I m quite a shy person so don t always find it easy to talk to people however, Shannon made me feel so comfortable and is a huge part of while I will be coming back and recommending The Library to friends and colleagues.
