I came here after being told by Glenfield Hospital that because I'm not registered to a nearby GP, they can't see me. Silly policy in my opinion.

When I arrived, I was worried that it would take ages as it was really busy. Pleasantly surprised that a doctor was able to see me in 20 mins and fix me up in a further 2 mins.

I would like to thank the staff. They did a great job. It's shameful that the other hospital was not able to help me even though it looked like no one was busy.

This place was amazing. I thought I had broken my finger and I had to go in for an x-ray the only thing that annoyed me was the waiting time as it took 4 hours the doctor I had was very friendly and he was very understanding. After I had that doctor I then went to another really friendly doctor who took my x-ray. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Attended today with chest and throat infection. The staff were really pleasant and the doctor i saw in the triage dept was very thorough and reassuring. I was really really impressed with the walk in department. The waiting area was full but there must be many clinics running at the same time. I waited 15 minutes and had a longer consultation than i would have had i gone to my GP. 10/10 In a day of many pressures on services Leicester Royal are proving that the NHS staff are dedicated and hard working. Thank you so much for you attention and care.

Ps...im a qualified nurse at a much bigger hospital in Birmingham so i know a quality service. Thanks again!

Have eye issues. Rang 111 who advised to go to A&E and asked them to book Eye Casualty. Receptionist/nurse at the desk advised I don't need eye casualty and booked me in for some department. After waiting for 2 hours 8 got my number and doctor advised me 'I can only apologise but you are at wrong place you need to got to Eye Casualty. Here I am now. Where eye casualty booked me and asked me to wait for another hour to be seen by doctor. I have wasted 3 hours and going to wait another hour or so. Guess this is what I pay my tax for. Ridiculous.

Service here is absolutely brilliant. Had better treatment here in 8 hours than a course of visits at my own GP practice. Lauren was great & broke the boredom up waiting. Not that the other staff weren't friendly. They were all brilliant.

I took my 1 year old son to the A+E 3 times in 4 days because my boy had a fever and sickness all they did was take his temperature and gave him fruit juice to get his sugar levels up and after 4 hours they kept sending him home in the end I told the hospital that we weren't going to go home until my son was 100 percent I'm glad I put my foot down because it save his life he had septice and spent 4 days on antibiotics they are to quick to kick these sick kids out of the hospital I even had one doctor leave the cubicle when he was sick all over the floor and didn't bother coming back I had to go and find her to find out what was going on all I can say to people who's worried about there sick kids put your foot down it save my son life.

Waited 4 hours to be seen after a car accident, while the doctor was examining me the woman in charge of the assessment area knocked on and spoke to the doctor outside my door. I heard her say "you need to assess them and get them out"! He tried to say he was concerned about some symptoms I was having but she said "I have 26 people out here"!! I am appalled at this. Yes there are 26 other people waiting but I waited my turn so shouldn't I have my assessment just like those before me?? Discusting

The doctor I saw was brilliant!!!

Bad reviews for LRI are invariably the result of too many patients for too few Doctors and nurses.
Ambulance crews and their vehicles are tied up for hours at A and E waiting for hand over of patients for assessment. Good pweople operating under difficult conditioons. Everyone is the victim of insufficient funding and staffing. We have to pay more tax to achieve better results.
The telephone system is another matter. Almost impossible to navigate your way through the maze. It took me 40 minutes of unanswered calls and wrong information before finding out where a patient was held.

I have now taken out private health care after visiting this hospital. There are some amazing staff however a handful of bad people spoil it. There is a thief at large along with some very bizarre activities. I do have to say again there are some amazing staff, who deserve a medal for what they do.

I have visited this hospital several times over the period of 3 years. The doctor/professional care has always been excellent however, some of the admin staff are beyond rude. You can expect to be hung up on when calling or reception staff not bothering with information - very unhelpful! One with such maners and attitude would not last a day in private sector.

I have been to the Royal Hospital many times when my parents were ill. I have to say the customer service from some of the nurses are so bad that it makes me think they were better off at home. The nurses just giggle every second amongst themselves and do not pay any attention to the patient who need some assistance. The poor service and unfriendly and rude staff make this by far the WORST hospital ever. This is coming from some one who has experienced this many times. I think it would be my worst nightmare if I was ever admitted here.

When I came in with fever and very bad pains in waste area back and tomy I had to explain at least 7 doctors/consultants/students what's happened.
After sorting me out every single doctor/consultant state something diferent. Kept me from 3AM freezing suffer from temperature, nurses couldn't give any medicine as it's not prescribed and need to wait for Doctor to come. Doctor came 7AM when I almost dead with fever over 41c.One day they taking off fluids and wait when fever again hit 40c. To realise that probably I need something stronger.give me oral paracetamol after 3 h suffering from fever and it's don't helped.I had to suffer 4 more h to get proper iv paracetamol only one which helped to hit fever down for last 2 days. Next day when fever come back they again want give me oral paracetamol tablets! Only on my let's say loud under fever refuse they change to iv.Every day diferent plans- one day do scan and send home other day keep for 48 h-3th day for 7 days and next day says that may be you will be able to go today!
In ward where I spent so long 5 days, from all of them I have not seen cleaning ladies room at all! Only bin bags change. How it's possible!no sanitizer around toilet floors with dirty spots!no clean policy at all !! This part absolutely disgusting!!!
Staff- not all staff is nice but there is quite a lot nice people working. This is them tanks for 2 stars.
What I can tell, name of hospital tell the trough, you are treated like experiment and next doctors just guessing and playing trying to help and will help but you must undarstand that time till they figure out what's wrong with your helth you will need to suffer from whatever you suffering from...

They are only making a good situation out of a bad one. Some of the wards are dated and scruffy but the staff are trying to cope with lack of funding and poor infrastructure. Fortunately my mum is the brand new state of art unit so they are all ok. However some departments are very stressed and underfunded like the Discharge Lounge which is heartless and soulless. Like all hospitals parking and getting around can be a bit of a challenge and if you are visiting be prepared for some quite old equipment and wards. Also if whoever is in the hospital please make sure they don't get bored as some wards have no TV's, Radios or Day Rooms. My Dad died in here and the after services are very good as are the Chaplaincy if you require it.

Tuesday 8th March 2016. I attended UHL NHS Trust LRI and for the first time used their new multi-storey car park. It is a vast improvement over the previous, much used but out-dated facilities. For the first time in many years on a weekday I did not have to spend 45 minutes or more queuing to get in to the car park, fantastic. The only downside was the stairs. My wife has a fear of lifts so we always use stairs wherever possible. To be honest the cleanliness was appalling. It does not look as though the stairways have been cleaned since the MSCP was opened. If the Trust want people to respect the new facility then the Trust should make sure it is kept clean even if it is still work in progress. Other than that, well done UHL NHS Trust in providing this much needed facility. I would have given it 5 stars if it had been cleaner. I do not believe the car parking charges are any higher at LRI than they would be anywhere similar. Like many people I do object to car parking charges at any NHS establishment. I have always found the staff at all of UHL NHS Trusts to be caring and willing to do what they can to make your visits as comfortable as possible within the bounds of the resources available to them.

My dad was admitted recently , through A & E , and I was amazed by the improvement I saw, compared to previous experiences . The new A & E department was suberb. It simply bares no resemblance to the old one, neither in terms of the building itself or the care level. I now feel privledged to live in a city with such a great facility .

Mother in law is currently in LRI and the care is disgraceful. No staff around when you need them, never get a straight answer, blatant lies when you ask how she has been, simple day to day care not being carried out. I was a senior care auxiliary for many years and I have never seen anywhere as bad as this. Shocking. I am in the process of writing a formal complaint.

So it took my 2 year old daughter here because she hadn't been feeling well for 2 weeks and had a really bad chest.(I also had to take my 3 month old daughter). The staff were mostly friendly. But there are alot of downsides so kids are running around and because it was 5:00pm and daughter wasn't feeling well she was trying to sleep and her 3 month old sister was aswell. There where children throwing up all over the place which mad my daughter feel even more unwell. But the thing that annoyed me the most is the waiting time, I understand there was alot of children in there but we where given a number and you had to wait until it said your number on the screen now the first wait took about 4 hours. But after that you get put back on the board to see a doctor. We must of been on that for 5 hours+. And at around 3:30 we got seen by a doctor and there wasn't much said except sorry but we are quite busy is it alright if you stay overnight and we'll examine her properly in the morning. As I had a 3 month old I wasn't happy. I had to ask my husband to come up and help me out (he wasn't well either that's why he couldn't come earlier). So in the morning she did get examined but we are still waiting for results now and we where told she could have to stay for a week for the results hubby took the baby back and still haven't got anything!!

I had been suffering with tonsillitis for three weeks and over the counter pain killers were not doing anything so went to the drop in centre on a Sunday morning mainly to try and get some stronger pain meds. The triage nurse I saw was excellent and said that I needed to be in A&E, not because she couldn't help but because I was actually quite ill, she took me over there and within 10 minutes had been seen by a senior Dr, within 20 minutes there was an ENT Dr with me and 10 minutes later there was a Senior ENT Dr in the A&E. Had a number of tests done and was told that I needed to be admitted, another 30 minutes or so and I was tucked up in bed being drip fed antibiotics, steroids and pain medication. 24 hours later I was feeling significantly better and was discharged with plenty of antibiotics to make sure I was completely better. All the staff were polite and considerate and although I was in considerable pain for most of the time I was in there I don't have a bad thing to say about the place.

Given the difficult situation the hospital currently finds itself in (and in fact the NHS as a whole) I think the staff are doing a tremendous job! Everytime I use the A&E/Urgent Care facilities they see me as quickly as possible, care for me and let me go on my way. I look forward to seeing the new A&E centre next year!!!

No intelligence whatsoever. I broke my collar bone and they suggested that I should wait for it to heal itself and that if the bone that broke pierced through the skin that I should come back... I should also add that I was in A&E all day lying down on a hospital bed in a corridor without being told a thing. I went to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital a few days later and I was straight away sent for an operation because the bone had pierced through my muscle.

Have both received and provided care here. Staff are generally great, despite being under a huge amount of pressure from all fronts. Brilliant that the A&E is upgraded now, as the old one felt woefully inadequate for the volume it was seeing. The site can be a bit tricky to navigate but it's full of character and history -- kind of an archetypal NHS hospital in a way.

My father is currently in LRI. The standard of care is careless and generally unsatisfactory. Among the apathetic staff there are both nurses and doctors who are genuinely talented and caring individuals. Sadly they are in the minority. I feel truly sorry for them and hope the system does not manage to grind them down too. All I expect is a standard of care which is knowledgeable and compassionate. Hard pressed staff and busy wards are no excuse for poor and sub standard care. Patient notes seem irrelevant and the very important gets lost in the mess of general paperwork - maybe why no-one absorbs all the information. When someone enters the hospital and is moved from ward to ward who is responsible for that patient's care? Who are the patient advocates within the system?

Dr Foram Patel was especially professional, kind and caring in A&E with my Mum. A very good Doctor and LRI are fortunate to have her working for their team.

The new A&E unit seems to have done a lot for morale amongst the staff and everything appears much more organised now.

An Operator answered the main switchboard fairly promptly, but her welcome was particularly welcoming. She answered so quickly I didn't get her name, and after asking politely to be put through to Ward 37, with me adding with the hospital name (as the previous day I had been asked by an Operator to confirm the hospital) she said 'I know' with a bit of attitude. I hope that was recorded and you listen to it. Approx 3.00 p.m. 18.7.17.

Medical staff really look after you when something is really wrong, hospital food was really quite yummy too. It is a shame this is tarnished by a few seriously entitled bad apples who need a serious attitude adjustment if they are going to work in healthcare. This was the housekeeping and care staff, the nurses doctors midwives and consultants were all exemplary.

Worst hospital ever. I am an international stsudent from CANADA (where we also get free health care) and this was by far the worst service I have ever recieved. I was lucky enough to have my flat mate with me as I would have suffered more at the hospital than at home. The nurses were rude and abrupt and had NO compassion. I was on the verge of fainting and I was unable to walk but the nurses DID NOT even think to offer me a wheelchair. In canada there would have been no question about that. I was tremendously dissapointed. Luckily the GP at the hospital was the only kind staff member available. Otherwise if I had the option I would give this hospital a rating of ZERO!

Had some worrys with illness, as they always say get checked out. I know I cant get in my local doctors. So I called the NHS helpline 111.They got me a doctors appointment at 20:15 ( which I was grateful for ) she advices me to get my bloods taken but it will have be A&E. which I agreed with because of I thought how long will it take to take my blood. Because there will be alot worse people in there then me.

1.5hrs wait before

First assessment- explained my whole situation. Got to take a seat and wait.

Second assignment- had to explain again my situation but he did take blood pressure and stats. I asked about taking my blood. he told me know has asked for then to be taken and I will have to wait!!!

Third Assignment- had to explain again BUT this time blood was taken. after 2.5 hrs. BUT I was told results would take another 45min and then I have to wait for a doc. After 1hr kindly asked if we had been missed I then got told I have another 3hr wait before a doc can see me......... This will bring my total time for blood test to 7+hrs.

Unbelievable seriously!!! You work all day try and do a good thing and get your self seen because local doctors cant get you in and then you are punished for going in to the system that is all ready strained and not working. No wonder when we have bad weather the NHS crumple when the cracks are there when the weather is good.

Millions pounds spent for a very poor services.

Second day visiting childrens A&E, doctors really seem uninterested in treatment or finding out the route cause of illness. High temp they cool you down and ask clothes be removed from child and send you home. Low blood sugar they give kids fruit juice and tben send you home. Basically the target is to send kids home as quickly as possible and hope they don't return. Two days of non treatment so I've given up on A&E and will go private. You would think antibiotics, x rays, blood tests have been banned at this A&E as they won't entertain the idea of using these on the child patients. The drip is a definite no no, as seems as though the doctors have been told treat kids using no medication or resources, just hot air. Won't go back to Royal it's awful.

Bloody awful place to try and park when you are disabled. Costly and far to few of them usually taken up by those drivers who are NOT personally disabled but merely transporting those who are. ONLY drivers who are themselves disabled should be granted the disabled parking bay rights! Logic tells me that disabled persons attending the LRI could be dropped off at the entrance door whilst the fully able driver could then use a normal parking bay and return again to pick up the disabled person. That would then allow Disabled Bays to be used by those most in need, Disabled DRIVERS, and would doubtless increase the parking revenue gained by that style of parking rule.
Come on LRI, think about it and apply a more fairer rule!

Terrible hospital, uncaring Nurses too. Both terrible in a & e and the maternity services. General care is abysmal with no passion in their job. The hospital is dirty. If I could give a zero I would. Myself and family have experienced nothing but poor care from here. Nurses: if you don't want to do the job you had chosen to learn to practice then leave and let someone that generally cares about their patients / profession do it instead!!! I will never visit the a and e department here again nor have further children here as with regards to maternity services, breaking wind constantly during my labor and then no support breast feeding my baby telling me to just give him a bottle then leaving me alone after emergency c section to defend for myself and baby whilst you sip tea and eat cake... I think that's enough for now! I guess that's good for you, one less patient to walk through your doors and less work for you!
