I was unfortunate enough to spend a day on the surgical assessment unit. patients were writhing around in pain and the Nurses were unhelpful. I was meant to be sent a follow up appointment for surgery but never was, I'm still waiting ten months later but would never risk surgery there anyway. Chaotic to say the least. The surgeon was dismissive and arrogant.

I understand that the NHS is understaffed and under equipped but they do not help themselves I had to be referred to have my wisdom teeth removed as they keep getting infected. I was given a consultation which I think they guy talking to me may have been doing his first day because I seemed to know more than him and I'm not a health professional anyway he said the next time I hear from them it will be an app for surgery but instead I get a letter a week later for a pre assessment app. This is to do tests such as checking height, weight, blood pressure etc but this could have all been done and dusted in the consultation and would have taken 2 minutes. Not only that but every time I go I have to fill out different forms saying the same thing about my medical history when they can just type in my NHS number into their computer and BAM! There my medical history. No rocket scientist needed there and I just saved a bunch of trees and a lot of money from printing paper
A lot of the doctors here are very dismissive. I also went hospital due to having lumps behind both eyes and he asked me if I have any symptoms (I was referred by my optition), I asked "like what?" He replied "well do you get headaches?" I said normal headaches but I don't think they are relevant as everybody gets those. Then he literally turns round and says "you should have gone to the head clinic instead of coming here" I didn't ask to go I was referred some doctors need to go back to university again because they wont pass the second time around...

We have had the most excellent service from all the staff. From the moment we entered the accident and emergency reception the whole team has been outstanding. surgery was the only option this happened at 01:30. They worked nonstop to ascertain the cause of the problem. And we have been treated extremely well by all concerned. Especially in ICU and ward 22. Some of the staff were at the end of a 12hr shift. But they were still working flat out. We are both very grateful for all there help and dedication

Always here for my diabetic eye appointments, Very helpful staff and easy to find where you need to get to. Though the new car park literally outside the Sandringham building seems a bit much.

I've been to a lot of hospitals and this is up there with the worst.
The nursing staff are lovely and do their best to help but unfortunately they were as clueless about my situation as I was. I was admitted to a surgical ward via A&E for gastric pain.
On the first ward, a surgeon insisted he would 'try' to cannulate me, and did it so badly both my arms and hands were bruised and triggered a panic attack. It took three days to get a scan, I was then told I shouldn't be on the surgical ward but that I could go to gastro as I was admitted to surgery via A&E - after I'd been told you cannot be admitted to gastro via A&E. I have been an inpatient here for a week now, and I've only had 2 investigations of which they have apparently investigated me "exhausting all investigations". I have other medical conditions, one of which affects the way I absorb painkillers given orally, I was told today that I am being discharged because they can't find out what is wrong and gastro wont see me unless I'm an outpatient. I'm a student living away from home and I'm being sent away in pain without a sufficient pain relief plan. But apparently this is okay as "you can be discharged as long as we manage your pain" but there are no available oral pain relief options that work with my body or pain. The consultant surgeon David Exon, then said "We aren't going to find what's wrong" and upon seeing me crying said nothing apart from "we're done here" and left me in my bed.

TL;DR, I was admitted for emergency treatment, have received no diagnosis, treatment or proper pain relief and so much distress. Nurses are fine but the staff and sense of urgency and desire to help from the actual doctors is sorely lacking.

My wife was admitted over last Monday night in stressful circumstances.
I have nothing but praise to offer to the paramedics who attended in the ambulance, everyone involved in A&E, where the treatment was quick, professional, courteous and above all effective
She was transferred to an AAU ward and then to a medical ward (Ward 30). Both wards were very well run and the staff and doctors were a credit to the Trust..
I give special thanks to June the deputy sister on Ward 30 for her professionalism, courtesy, friendliness... an exceptional performance.
Sadly however... all of these qualities were countered by the attitude and performance of the consultant on ward 30. I don't question his medical abilities and skills... but his attitude was a disgrace... arrogant, patronising and discourteous. Totally unacceptable behaviour. Sadly I cannot give 5 stars which the rest of the staff involved clearly merited because of his behaviour

Cannot praise highly enough after 2 separate visits over the past 10 days. Staff were fantastic, waiting times were minimal and the social distancing in place made me feel safe and cared for. Well done LRI.

When I was 12 weeks pregnant I had just come bacl from a long haul flight and my legs were swollen. I was concerned so went to A&E, although I had to wait an extremely long time to be seen (which is to be expected - they are doing their best) I was offered a drink and food as it was very early in the morning and I had had my blood pressure taken and it was low. The staff were calm and patient with me, I was tired, grumpy and not very mobile. They did a good job of calming me down. I can't speak for all but the NHS is a great service that we shouldnt knock, after all you are receiving FREE medical care, its better than going private.

IRRITATED!!!

Hurt my finger, referred by NHS 111 to go to A&E immediately. Was with my 1yr old baby and someone had to drive me. They were soo inconsiderate, zero care to ensure I'm seen considering I had a baby. Had to leave after 2.5hrs of waiting and not being seen. Icing on the cake was being told by reception, "If you don't was to give someone your baby to babysit, ok".
WHO GIVES THESE PEOPLE JOBS, HONESTLY!!!!

I has both my children at the LRI and a couple of trips there for various other issues. I also worked there for a nearly ten years. The staff here are absolute stars. They really care and always do their best for you. Never had a bad experience from either side of the fence here and that's some achievement in ten years!

I went to the hospital at 7 pm on 29th August 2014 with eye pain. I saw a doctor who was not an eye specialist. He gave me a letter to take to eye casualty in the morning. I was at eye casualty at 8 am and waited an hour to see a triage nurse who told me to wait to see a doctor. I waited two more hours and saw people who arrived after me being seen by the doctor. I left without seeing a doctor and given a choice will not be going to that hospital again.

I know many slate the nhs, but at A&E I could see how over worked they were, but they still did a good job. I was admitted to ward 9 and the staff were lovely, taking care of all of us on the ward, day and night, and were sensitive to my nerves. The cleanliness was high, with cleaners coming often. The food was nice, with a good menu to choose from, a little over heated but otherwise good. They were also kind enough to sort me a liquid medication instead of tablets. Thank you ward 9. Though I hope I don't have to see you again

My daughter was admitted to ward 11 on 23/09/2017 for a day case removal of tonsils, everything went very well I was VERY pleased with the whole day and care of my child, the ward seemed very clean and tidy with VERY helpful staff.

She has been home nearly 24 hours and making a GREAT recovery, I think ALL the staff need a pat on the back and a BIG thank you from me and my daughter.

Very busy hospital. Our daughter was born and needed urgent special attention. Was rushed to neonatal and operated on instantly.
Fast acting staff saved our daughters life. Staff on the maternity ward, neonatal and special care are fantastic and we owe them everything.

The LRI has served us well when needed. Various family members myself included have had good care here.
A&E is very busy and very abused. Stupid people attending who should be at their GP'S clogging up the system. Mothers with kids with nothing more than a cold. A Woman who had a bleading finger where the nail had come away. What a waste of resources.
Don't start me on the drunks.

Waiting and waiting and waiting. Now 75 mins past appt time . No delays posted on board in clonic and staff have no idea how much longer the wait is. Eye drops in over an hour ago. At this rate will be worn off before being sent. Also I note the "helloyou name is" boards are not filled in at all. Why bother having them if they are not going to be used?

I really appreciate the service I had today ! I had to visit the adult injuries section due to a cut I had , the procedure was very simple and organised , I was temperature checked and asked the procedural questions regarding COVID-19, then I was guided to the injuries section , there was the big surprise as I was assisted by Paris who Was extremely nice and patient , I explained that I felt pain and was nervous . Then I was guided to have an X-ray before proceeding with the stitches and then was the second nice surprise as Paris called her colleague Hellaine to talk to me while going through the stitches and reduce my stress . I didn t feel any pain and both Paris and Hellaine were amazingly talkative and caring !
Thank you so Paris and Thank you Hellaine !

Incompetent doctors. I had blood in my urin, which can mean a number of things but the doctor should be looked at carefully, where the bacteria has come from because it can cause serious kidney problems in women because of our anatomical build. The Dr. Ikenna Obi, I believe his name was, just told me that he does not know where it came from and when I asked him what if the symptoms come back after I take the medication, he just said I should Google it! What kind of a doctor tells his patient to google his symptoms?? I said that I already have and according to google I have cancer which he replied that he can't do anything about it! What the hell just happened to me? I've been passing blood in my urin for the past day and a medic tells me to google it! I find it highly unprofessional, a doctor should be there to calm me down not put me down if I ask him what is wrong with me.. Where do I turn to form a formal complaint?

The delivery suite, staff etc are absolutely wonderful...
Once you re in ward 6 all customer service goes out the window. Staff are too busy to even take canulars out even tho it was agreed by doctors 24hrs ago. If you re breastfeeding and need a top up with formula milk then prepare to questioned like a police interview just to get one bottle cow your berates won t produce enough due to medication. Getting into the ward is a mission in itself as there s never anyone on the front desk and nurses are too busy to buzz you in

I don t care what bad reviews people leave but our NHS care really is second to none. A&E staff and Majors staff were amazing and friendly and very reassuring. Can t thank them and praise them enough. The East Midlands Ambulance crew were amazing too. Thank you all for your help and support. They are all doing a wonderful job under a strain and are under-paid for the work they do and the abuse they get. Work with them and not against them, you won t get the same treatment and benefits anywhere else in the world.

Terrible at organisation and care for Cancer patients. Instead of asking patients to turn up later, they have to sit in an over-crowded area and wait up to 4 hours for Chemotherapy, increasing the risk of them contracting Covid-19.

People complain about the wait. Well remember it's...

People complain about the wait. Well remember it's and accident or emergency service. If you have not had an accident that needs prompt attention, nor your on deaths door with an emergency. Don't turn up! What are you expecting, to be priority of these emergencies. The actual fact is over half that turn up do not and should not be there in fact they should not let them in. Some don't have doctors here as they don't officially live here, but still take that time to get a doctors! Things people come in for are utterly laughable. Also you do not need to get dressed in your pj's. If your well enough to walk in, laugh and joke then stick some clothes on! Whole families turn up also often, there are not enough seats for this. This is not a day out. Please remember... Accident or Emergency only, or be prepared to wait up to 8 hours. It's time this changed and regular offenders should be charged. The ambulance crew, docs and nurses are inundated with usually rude, drunk or drugged people making others waiting times longer. They put up with a lot and the security do a good job of keeping and removing unsavoury people out. The staff are excellent. The facilities are bad but the patients are who made it unbearable for not making the correct choice and waiting for GP.

Dear Sir

Dear Sir

re: LRI Ward 8 / SAU

on behalf of my wife, and myself I would like to thank your Doctors and Nurses for the exceptional and diligent treatment afforded my wife by your staff from Saturday evening 26/04/2014 to Sunday 27/04/2014.

at a time when the NHS and hospitals make the news on a regular basis for all the wrong reasons, we were overwhelmed by the professional, attentive and diligent treatment by your staff who were a true benchmark for excellence.

Thank you

John Dunning

The worst hospital I ever saw. My husband is there for 5 months, came diagnosed with tb, now he has blood infection, really bad abdominal pain, vomiting non stop. It took 5 days of being sick and with temp higher than 40 to find a bakteria in a blood, for doctors, 5 DAYS.Now he is sick for 4 days, they still even not trying to find out why. Dr. Bell is telling everyday different stories to all our family. On weekends there is no doctors in a ward, leak of staff, waiting for 40 minutes for help after pressing red buzzard.nurses forgetting to give a medication, or sign that it was given, but its not. Horrible place. Suddenly I can t withdraw my husband off there, as he is feeling really bad. People stay away of that place.

I knew waiting times were long beforehand but to wait 10minutes while it was pretty much empty, to be seen by a lady at reception, while there were 7 members of staff at the computers and we were first in line, was a shock. 5 of them were having a chat about something and didn't even acknowledge us. Hours of wait and the end result? Go home and take paracetemol and drink plenty of water- for immense back pain which I could just about walk.

Doctor gave me WRONG advice which made my situation worse. Had a terrible case of vomiting and diarrhoea. Doctor told me to drink fruit juice for calories. When I spoke to the paramedics later on that evening they told me that fruit juices make you feel worse. I was in the MOST pain I had been in since I started feeling unwell.

Staff are nice but the system is at fault. Spent 20hours on a trolley then moved twice to different locations on a chair. Staff are just overwhelmed with patients and are doing their best in a bad situation.

A family member stayed in the Gynaecology Assessment Unit of the Gynaecology Department for about a week. Absolutely amazing service and outstanding facilities. The nursing, the service and the medical team were all angels to us. The tea ladies even asked all visitors if they wanted a cuppa! Best experience we ve ever had so far. The whole team are angels and are an unparalleled asset to Leicester Royal Infirmary and the NHS. Words fail to express my gratitude to them. Highly highly recommended.

E.N.T department had us waiting for hours in a corridor we were told "might have covid patients passing through" so we needed to keep to one side.
Witnessed 3 times how bad patients were talked to and treated.
And yet a guy who turned up almost 2 hours late for his appointment wearing no mask was asked to take a seat.......
Could not find any where to get a drink as all shots and cafeteria were shut and when finally found a drinks machine that did not accept coins only card was empty.
