Definitely overrated. Good location, of course, but this property has been trampled by tourists and other guests over the years. Lobby area has a huge carpet that has plenty of stains and furniture that is nicked and bruised aplenty. Same goes with my room; lamps that are cracked, stains, somewhat dirty windows, you get the idea. The water temperature in the shower was either hot or hot. And the food is ridiculously overpriced. A small pot of coffee is $10, and you get a couple of cups a very ordinary java. Fortunately, I could just walk down to the lobby and get a free cup there. A cup and a half of ordinary plain oatmeal accompanied generously by one strawberry, was $19.96. Once again, you get the idea. Maybe it was special back in the day, but for me this place can go by the wayside.

First time. One night. Raining outside. Complimentary parking/valet. Just got charged $34/day was the same at the Westin in Cosa Mesa. Sparkling wine on arrival. Upgraded to top floor suite. Beds were great. No noises mentioned in other reviews. $18/day resort fee which covers wifi, local drop offs, bikes etc. I am never a fan of these fees because they usually provide nothing of value, but this was not the case. Bar/restaurant was friendly, good service, garden salad and bistro steak (filet mignon) was done perfectly. Great location. Would definitely come again.

So this place was the greatest . Even with covid-19, and social distancing, the stay was safe and great.. They were so accomidating in all ways. The guys at front days were my age. Well close to (just hit the 40 club) so the conversation went back to the "old" days. The main guy, i belive his name is "rich" like Richie rich, is the reason ill be going back. I mean, he has EXCEPTIONAL customer service. The embarrassing part is, we went to the beach everyday, about a 10 minute drive and I didnt know until check out when i made a wrong turn, that we were a 30 second drive from the beach at the hotel. I mean u walk out the hotel, go left down the hill and you are right there.. next time!!! Love u all there!! And thanks "rich" and other guy (Richard I believe)

Itbshould be 5 star. Everybody here is happy to be there! Attention to detail, free bike rentals, free parking and a priceless customer service! I booked a night just to try em ! End up staying the whole weekend! Wow every hotel should use them as example!

Great staff and the ocean views are quite nice. Make sure to take advantage of the free Santa Monica shuttle to get around (tipping recommended). Go to Uhrr Cafe for a nice drink and bite to eat. Consider Alchemie spa for a massage.

Me and my precious wife decided to celebrate our anniversary in LA. And we chose Le Meridien Santa Monica.
From valet to check in, to the rooms and whole atmosphere was just so welcoming. Thank you especially Clara for paying attention and making our stay even more pleasant.
Great people and great food at the restaurant.

On the plus side the beds are incredibly comfortable. Lots of amenities. Champagne at the check-in desk is a nice touch. The bar and restaurant leave something to be desired but the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful

They messed up my checkin, one of our room keys didn't work, the pool was quite small, and the rooms didn't have microwaves or coffeemakers. Overall an entirely average hotel experience at a really high price.

Great hotel with outdoor balconies and a relaxing pool area with delicious food you can eat out door at the pool! Attended this hotel for a meeting and I was impressed with the service the hotel staff provided. It was a nice low-key hotel with a high-end feel. I would recommend visiting this hotel. Plus, it was walking distance to a park and plenty of great restaurants.

We were welcomed with complimentary champagne and upgraded for our anniversary! Roses, chocolate strawberries and a handwritten card were in our room before check in. Josh Jesse and Viviana really made it a special stay for us.

Amazing experience! The hotel itself was beautiful and our room was spacious and comfortable. In addition they do not charge an overnight fee for your vehicle but instead offer a free valet service. The hotel did everything in their power to make sure we had the best possible stay. When an issue did arise they went above and beyond to remedy the situation and make me and my family feel like they truly cared. I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this hotel if you are looking to enhance your stay in Santa Monica.

Staff at reception were mediocre. Not a smile, not proactive. The room was mediocre. Especially no electric outlet for laptop/phone at the work table. Internet speed was the worst! Overall, It didn't meet my expectations!

Had a great experience at this hotel. They serve sparkling wine at the front desk upon arrival. The rooms are cute and spacious and all the amenities are Malin+Goetz. It s located walking distance to Santa Monica pier and they provide free car rides to nearby locations. I would definitely stay here again if I ever come back to the area.

Good place to stay. Mandatory valet parking is either good or bad. We're not fans but others are opposite. Bar downstairs is good. Had good taste and well presented. Staff was on point. No complaints in the restaurant. Pool is nice and clean no hot tub though, not good. Room was comfortable and nice balcony with great view every day of the year besides today. Thanks for the stay!ps valet parking is not fun.

Its a pretty decent hotel on Pico Blvd. The rooms are spacious and comfortable for a business traveller and the location is pretty good. We had our kickoff held here and it was organised pretty well. The staff were courteous and helpful.

There were several kitchen staff members constantly monitoring the breakfast items and I really admire that. all of the staves were also very helpful and professional. Rooms Dirty and Bad Service

We stayed at Le Meridien Santa Monica while in town for a beach volleyball tournament. We arrived at 2:30 PM PST and were told our room was not ready. We checked with the front desk at 3:15 and our room was still not ready. Finally, after sitting in the lobby for two hours (4:30), we were given our room keys. They had approached other guests but did not check in with us even though we had waited the longest. This is most likely because we were dressed casual from being at the beach and they were making assumptions.

We walked into the room and the bathroom sink is filthy, the tables still had sticky finger prints, and the marketing literature is casually tossed on the bed. I called the front desk and the housekeeping manager visited our room. We showed him the concerns and he recommended we change rooms. In the meantime, I walked down to the front desk to get our new keys. They called me a different name three times even after I corrected them. I asked to speak to the GM and was given the Dir. of Rooms business card. I asked the front desk if this was the GM and they told me yes. I spoke to the Director of Rooms and expressed my concerns about the cleanliness of the hotel. We transferred to our second room and again it is dirty. The mirror is full of grime, the desk looked like someone had slept on it, and the bathroom door was covered in makeup. This is absolutely not a three or four star hotel. They need to devote some attention to detail, customer service, and cleanliness. We will not stay here again

I stayed there during a 3 day business trip this weekend. Terrible service. Very small pool (pictures are missleading). Nothing to enjoy (dont understand 25 bux resort fee) in the hotel. Santa monica is awesome (you have a lot of other options closer to the beach).

More important of all, wifi is the worst. The free link button doesnt work 99% of the time. They drive you to pay for your internet too!

It was the only hotel in my life that told me if I wanted to extend my check out (on a sunday) from noon to 1pm, I had to pay!

Nlw I saw that they charged my credit card again without my consent for 75 bux!!! Now I habe to follow up with them whih means more trouble.

Stay away. For the price it is not even close.

It s a beautiful hotel with lots of nice & people with great customer service, but on April 20th at about 8:30 me, my husband & uncle walked in the hotel, which we were all staying over & a guy receptionist treated my uncle as if he was a homeless. As soon as we walked in the doors, he right away asked him in a rude tone... can I help you? And my uncle didn t hear him, so the receptionist insisted in a more louder tone asking him the same thing. My uncles suitcase had gotten stolen from the car during a rest stop on the way to California & lost all his clothes. So I m the urge of showering the first thing he did was stop at a nearby thrift shop & got a casual outfit. Just by the way someone is dressed, is no way to speak in so demeaning manner & discriminating someone by the way their dressed. I know it s a very fancy hotel, but you never know if someone dressed so simple can be very powerful & humble. We were all very saddened with this situation by the way my uncle was treated.

I ABSOLUTELY love this hotel! Everytime I come to this area I will be staying here. Great service, great staff and great amenities. The location is great, and food and the beach are within walking distance. They also provide free transportation in case you don't want to walk. Rooms are also beautiful and food is good! Will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know!

Well situated hotel that is nicely appointed however this is a very family friendly hotel (aka noisy in the common areas) and they don't acknowledge platinum status as compared to other SPG properties.

I booked a stay here for our work group trip after a friend had recommended it to me. I must say it was everything and more! Booking for large groups can always be a challenge, but Rose, the Exec. Manager, really made the process so easy. Not only that but she truly went out of her way to ensure everyone had a pleasant stay. The staff was so welcoming, professional and hospitable. We really utilized all areas of the hotel from meetings in the lobby, to doing work in the office space, and not to mention definitely the free champagne at the bar was a treat! This is now my go-to for Santa Monica and has led me to really adore the Le Meridien brand. PS- Thanks again Rose for going above and beyond!

Darius made us feel welcome from the mement we walked in! The lobby was spacious and clean. Our room was an ocean view and we loved sitting out on our balcony looking out over Santa Monica. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in!!! Also, a big perk was the free hotel driver who would drive us anywhere within a two mile radius.

Our flight was canceled, so we were unable to make it to the hotel for one night. We called once we knew it was canceled and asked them to hold our reservation, and they said they would hold it. We arrive at the hotel, and lo and behold, our reservation has been canceled! Staff is poorly trained and unprofessional, and manager refused to help. Hotel may be good by itself, but in the event of complications, do not expect them to accommodate you.

I love this hotel, stay here frequently on business trips to LA and would stay here for personal travel too. The property is beautiful, staff is friendly, and location is close to the Promenade and other fun areas in Santa Monica. You also get a glass of champagne on check in, which you can't go wrong with. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable.

Our conference was upstairs in the penthouse. Great view from the room, and an overall very nice facility. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided for our event were all very good. Followed up with the afternoon sessions downstairs in a smaller conference room while the hotel prepared upstairs for a high school prom. We then moved to the Sandbox bar area for hors d'oeuvres and drinks. Staff were great, and they were also doing a great job of helping the school chaperones in managing the students who were there for the prom.

Comfortable and slick but some odd rules and a certain lack of character. Watch out for the mandatory $30 daily 'destination fee', which covers a mixture of things that should be included in basic room rate (e.g. wifi) and things you don't really need (e.g. daily glass of sparkling wine, town car with a radius of 2 miles - doesn't get you far in LA). Instead of coffee/tea making in the room, you get a voucher for 2 hot drinks to collect from the bar - but they'd run out of vouchers, which meant a frustrating daily conversation with the bar. What's good? The rooms are large and the beds are wonderfully comfortable ; the pool is not huge but the area around it is stylish and a nice place to sit. The location isn't right in the thick of things, but an easy walk to the beach, to Venice, and downtown Santa Monica. A good solid option but very expensive for what you get.

1. House-keeping staff showed up at my room at 8.10 am to clean up the room. Really?
2. Coffee machine not available in room. Must visit lobby with a coupon to get two free cups of coffee.
3. House-keeping staff stole snacks, meds and my travel pouch from my room while I stepped out for some food. I realize hotels add disclaimers stating that they aren't responsible for stolen stuff, but this does leave a bad taste. Am I expected to keep snacks in a safe while I step out for a few minutes? I'd rather have the staff not steal than have them greet me every time I pass by them.
4. Walls and ceilings are really thin. God help you if there's a baby in an adjacent room. Bring earplugs.

Not sure why this place has some negative reviews. I thought this hotel was amazing. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at, and I travel a lot. Patrice at the front desk was so friendly and helpful, upon arrival we got free champagne. Free bike rentals, game room, pool was clean and not too crowded. Valet was free, and speedy. Patrick and the other weekday waitress by the pool were both so awesome. All staff was friendly. Live music at the bar....We really loved this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back.
