Le Meridien, Gatwick Airport Review

We missed the flight and we stayed one night. Room and comfortable bed. It lacks more variety in restaurants and improve the quality of them.

Shameful profiteering at its worse. Due to the disruption caused by Storm Ciara I was unable to stay. I notified them of this at 3pm on the day of the booking, giving time to re-let the room to one of the hundreds of people stranded by More

Hertz Car Rental located inside Sofitel Hotel.Has a backside entrance from across the road as well.

Poor check in experience - checked in by trainee was not very helpful regarding my parking query. Later a more experienced staff member was.

The room was fully equipped for a comfortable stay. Being on the airport takes away all the stress. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend staying here.

Really nice hotel, stayed for one night before travelling next morning. Very quick check in courteous staff. Bed was very comfortable adequate amenities in the room. Woke up very refreshed next day for our long haul flight. Would definitely stay here again.

This is very well placed for flights from Gatwick and is very professional and well run.

I find this so convenient especially with the park and fly option i.e. leaving your car somewhere that is then easy to access on return. The staff are always courteous, the rooms are clean and comfortable and it is just great for walking in to the terminal.

Impressive though never stayed very french orientated

I gave up waiting to s op eak with the front desk on check out. 4Four people so ingrossed on computer they ignored people waiting. Checkin was exceptional. Restaurant was acceptable but not that great. Room seemed in level with your less expensive brands. I will not go back.

Well presented and clean. Very polite staff. Unfortunately the bed was so uncomfortable I had a sleepless night.

Chose the hotel due to the location (close to Gatwick). Very pleased to find it was in the terminal, just a short walk from the departure gates. On top of that, it's a classy, relaxing environment and the rooms are very comfortable. Very pleased with my stay.

Bog standard room, nothing special, no biscuits to go with a cuppa. Lifts are rubbish, spent most of the time waiting for one, then got travel sick going up and down the floors to fill it up. Breakfast was OK,

MORNING ... ORDERED ROOM SERVICE COFFEE, 30 MINUTES AFTER ORDER GOT CALL SAYING WE HAD CHECKED OUT. WE HADN'T. DEMANDED IF WE HAD COFFEE WE MUST PAY CASH. DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH CASH. TOLD RECEPTION - USELESS !. WHILST IN SHOWER HOUSEKEEPING CAME IN. TOLD RECEPTION..."OUR SYSTEM IS OK....?" APPALLING EXPERIENCE FOR THE PRICE

We went to the Sofitel to go to the Gatwick Oriental which we have eaten at many many times before and has always been outstanding! Since the refurbishment and the change of menu I feel that the food has gone down hill. The starters and the duck were very good, the main course lacked colour and taste. Normally it wouldn't bother me but because it has been so consistently good for so many years I was disappointed.

It was our second short stay with an early rise for a flight but, in the time we had, we had a very good Chinese meal in your restaurant and the room offered us everything we needed with enough space to miss each other! The staff at all levels we extremely pleasant and helpful and we would certainly continue to visit your hotel when needed.

Our bed & pillows were both a little uncomfortable at our last visit comparted to our visit couple months earlier this year, plus we found the main restaurant quite noisy, with very poor room acoustics in place.
One has to wait at reception, the staff seem to find themselves other things to do while customers are waiting !

Very nice hotel, the rooms were comfortable and well appointed and the urban restaurant serves fine food, as long as you ask for regular fries. Le Ciel bar is a nice place to unwind.

Hotel has a fantastic location, check in is efficient, the beds are extremely comfortable. We have been staying at the Sofitel (LGW) for some years and for the first time I was aware that the room looked tired. The side of the bath was badly marked, the skirting board had been touched up (badly) and the walls were marked, the room was in need of a completely redecorating.

The service in the bar is constantly slow.

Super convenient for the airport and a great hotel but it is expensive to stay and in the bars and restaurants.

We arrived to be told we were 'Guests of the Day' - the ladies on reception could not have been more helpful or pleasant. As we were on the 8th floor we had access to the lounge and again the ladies who were hosting were so nice and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We really were looked after extremely well. Many thanks to everyone at the hotel.

I was a little disappointed that there was no difference between the standard room which my friend was staying and my supposed superior room. Through my own fault of not requesting an outside room, for the first time in my many stays I was allocated an inside facing room, which I hated. I will not make that mistake again.

Staff were very helpful and friendly when I arrived very tired and late. Very comfortable bed, totally quiet, good shower and excellent toiletries. Good breakfast the next morning with friendly staff. What more can one ask for?

Pre-holiday one night stay. Very comfortable room although drinks in bar were very expensive. Location excellent as short walk into North Terminal and Shuttle to South Terminal. Easy Peasy.

Excellent except that there was no USB port where I could charge my phone and tablet without using an adaptor. I am from Canada and did not have one with me that fit the British system. Also the remote for the tv did not work and so the man who came to fix it found an adaptor for the phone charger for me but it did not work. I gave up trying at this point.

My stay was acceptable. I arrived late at night and could not locate where the hotel was located, as I arrived in the wrong terminal. I was assured there would be adequate signs. Unfortunately, I did not realize I needed to change terminals and walked a long way before I found an employee to assist me with answers. Once the airport employee told me where to go to change terminals, I was almost there.

After arriving at the correct terminal in pouring rain, with some searching I found the entrance to the hotel.

We have stayed with you before so there were no surprises. The hotel is so convenient for South Terminal it would be difficult to improve on. The staff are polite, efficient and unobtrusive. We did not eat there so I am unable to comment on the food experience.

Great room, no aircraft noise but kept awake by noise of monorail outside!

Fantastic hotel! A great place to stop before an early flight. I love how the hotel is designed so even in a busy place like Gatwick Airport, I would have never have known I was there. The lobby is very impressive and the staff were excellent. Room had one of the best beds I have slept in and was very clean!

Only used for the day between flights. Staff were very helpful. Room was excellent. Immaculate. Comfortable bed. High quality linens. Great Espa shampoo shower gel and moisturiser! Couldn't have been better. 5 minutes stroll from arrivals a departures... Great place to hide and relax between flights...

Excellent rooms and convenient location. Attached to airport North terminal and with access to trains arriving every 30 minutes you are a quick hop from your flight or central London. Staff is extremely courteous and service is exceptional. The lobby is great with several decent bar and restaurant options

Try and avoid rooms that face the terminal or the shuttle train. Very noisy. Facing the motorway or the airport are far far quieter. Southern fried chicken dish is good and breakfast is excellent. Very expensive bar.

For what we paid its not that good. Tv does not have basic channels, as it cold spent the night in and then went to the restaurant. Food was ok.
