It was a beautiful and educational experience. This is great for outdoor lovers with well marked trails and helpful guides. The little science center inside the welcome center was super cool for the kiddo to get to see some natural, local wildlife.

The trails were great lots up and down, stairs and rough terrain. Great for everything it says it has to offer, some of the trails were very muddy though so dont go after a rain unless you like it that way. Definitely going back

Have have been riding my equine for years. They have wonderful well marked trails.
However, was there last weekend, and a family coming down the trail had a dog and my husband suggested we get off as he thought the dog might be unused to equines. We did, and I am so glad. That dog tried to attack our equines and they ran off and we had to search for them. The owner got the dog under control after he lunged and chased our horses. Luckily no one was hurt. I've never had an experience like that.
Dog owners, please make sure you have your dog under control - that means having an adult or a strong enough person holding the leash, if we had not gotten off, we might have fallen off and been injured.
I've ridden there dozens of times, and this is the first time something like that had happened.

This park is a hidden gem. I didn't even know it existed until a few weeks ago. The trails are quite nice and you have decent scenery throughout. My dogs really enjoyed the river and the walk. You do have to pay to enter. The park was not crowded at all so its easy to enjoy. I would definitely visit again.

I would suggest adding some trash cans near the picnic tables. The only trash can I could find is next to the door at the visitor center.

McKinney Roughs Nature Park is a great daytime nature getaway! If you like hiking or horseback riding, this is the place to go! We often take our Cub Scouts to complete their hiking activities!

This is day use only and it is not a state-owned park (LCRA owns it) so you cannot use your state park pass.

Had a great time with the family. Very nice visitor's center with informational handouts, clean restrooms, and water fountains. Take advantage of the water bottle refill station inside and make sure you bring plenty of water for the kiddos! Heat related illness creeps up on them super fast.

Many different hiking trails offer something for everyone and the scenic viewpoints are hard to beat, but watch out for snakes on the walking paths in the afternoon. All in in all, a worthy drive away from the bustle and noise of downtown!

The staff at McKinney Rough Nature Park are very kind and helpful. We have hiked here multiple times and had a wonderful time. They also have various children's nature camps as well as a wedding/reception venue and lodging.

Great trails for cycling if you're looking for a challenge. Not much shade and terrain is mostly loose, rough but flat. Very limited refreshments available at HQ, coke, water... bu texpensive. Free water outside available. Shaded porch area with seats. Service is friendly and positive. Parking is generally unshaded, so can get hot in summer. Lots of event space available!

This place is so beautiful, and such a well kept secret! I enjoy the variety of hiking trails, providing you with the opportunity to see diverse ecological areas, from open plains, to rivers, to fields of cactus. I can't recommend this place enough!

Amazing place! Definitely will be back. I highly recommend asking for trail advice if it's your first time here. We had a distance in mind and Paige suggested a route for us that was perfect. :)

My wife and I got married at McKinney Roughs. After looking at many wedding venues in Austin and Dripping Springs, it didn't take long to know after walking along the beautiful trails and new facilities that McKinney Roughs was where we wanted to spend our wedding day. We held the ceremony at their outdoor ampitheater set in a clearing among the oaks and cedar- a perfect informal natural setting. The dining hall was perfect for our reception- well stocked and beautiful. But it was the staff that really made us happy about our choice.

Stephanie was our main contact for the venue and she couldn't have worked harder to accommodate us. From the tour she first gave us until the last guests left the wedding and the following days' cleanup- Stephanie was incredibly organized, helpful and cheerful. The rest of the staff and volunteers there made us feel like welcome guests and were ready to help with every request big and small.

We're so happy to have chosen McKinney Roughs to host our special day.

A hidden gem East of the crazy traffic of Austin. Great hike down to the scenic Colorado river. We enjoyed the check in area with the different fish and animals from the area. Bring a water and enjoy your hike.

I went here with my daughter first grade class field trip. The views were nice and some of the people were really friendly. On the other hand i wasnt expecting to run a quarter of a mile behind 50 first graders. Some of the children were falling and throwing up because they LITERALLY had just eaten lunch. The teachers didnt even know they would have us running. It was horrible! Once we got to the location the guy showing off the live animals was not really kid friendly. I thought he was kind of rude, impatient, and irritable because the FIRST GRADERS wouldn't stop talking and or moving around. This is definitely a place for a small family to take a hike or a small group of people. Not 50+ first graders.

Some of the best hiking in the area. I have went on hikes all over Austin and this wins by far. Very well marked and clean trails. The lady at the visitor center was so nice and helpful. Dogs are welcome too.

A variety of nice trails, some equistrian. Beautiful view of the Colorado River if you take that route. None of the trails are difficult, but several offer a good workout. Restrooms available. $5 entrance fee per person, with cards accepted.

A free nature center! A park with huge space and yet open to the public. Trails are not all stroller friendly but lovely place to learn and explore nature. Worth the drive. It is the next entrance beyond Hyatt Lost Pines.

First visit and not our last while we're here in the Austin area. We'll do e, plenty of parking, lots of trails, fishing, sites, playgrounds and more.. Only negative is how annual passes work, which is a pain. A window sticker would be worth a couple extra bucks. But that's state parks issue. Visit if you're in the area

Nice little park. They recently opened up their trails to mountain biking so we went to go on a ride.

I would go back and explore some more trails. They are doing some work to improve the trails and grounds. It will only get better.

This is a great park. $5 entry (as of 7/2/20202) and some amazing trails. Well kept up and marked, friendly staff, and good parking. I've hiked here a court of times and the trails are relatively easy, with some elevation change on some, and access to the Colorado River. If you want to get out of town for a nice, scenic, hike, this is a great choice.

It was humid and exhausting! Very pretty different elevation levels, so tough inclines. Loved it. The staff was very helpful and nice. They offer a map and route you if you haven't been there before, depending on how much you want to hike. The river was very muddy, due to the rain, and the staff warned us about that. But it's very pretty scenery. I will be visiting again.

The hiking is so serene! Great views, uncrowded, very peaceful. The elevation gain is about 300 ft, and it makes for a good workout. The trails are decently marked. The staff is friendly. Also, its dog friendly (on leash).
