Well marked trails of varying difficulty along a gorgeous portion of the Colorado River. Offers excellent hiking/biking trails with the option for some horse trails. Great park for the avid birdwatcher and great for sightseeing.

Love McKinney Rough! Had my wedding reception here and try to hike here a couple times a month. The trails are clear and easy to access. There are a variety of types of hikes from long and tough to short and less obstacles. All of that for $5 is a heck of a deal.

One word: Awesome! The trails are amazing and the views are spectacular. I recommend the riverside trail if you are coming back to the beginning from the Colorado River. It is a a climb like no other. I will certainly be back.

Absolutly lovely break from the city upon arrival driving in there was a herd of deer just enjoying the morning freshness.. I was able to bring my horse and dog and enjoy the trails and did a 4 hour trip and brought a small pack lunch pack with me. Nice bluff overlooks and nice ride along the Colorado ruver. Can't wait to go back and let the working world fade away

A lot of nice shady trails, most well marked with sign posts but definitely a labyrinth so easy to get turned around if not an experienced hiker.

I especially liked the little rest areas where one can stop and enjoy the views!

Be sure to sign in/out at the front desk so they know who is out there.

Meh!

What a beautiful 4 hour adventure this was!! The hike was long but we did stop ever so often to regain stamina and strength and refresh ourselves with water and food. There are no trash bins around so please pick up after yourselves and maybe bring a bag or trash bag. We did not plan this hike at all but it s a hidden gem and a nice little getaway from the city mess. There are different types of terrain, rocky, sandy, steep, etc. The Colorado River was also very beautiful, as we were not prepared we obviously didn t have any water shoes on hand so getting into the river bed barefoot did hurt a little but it was beautiful nonetheless. The park has a ton of different trails, some easier than others. They also have tons of activities that we will have to check out later!! I got some amazing photos but pictures do not do the park justice, the smells, the views, the sound of the tall trees swaying with the wind. I recommend this park to anyone looking for a fun hike!

My now wife and I got married here just last month. We really can't say enough how great our experience was.

To start, the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. This goes for both the exterior landscaping and the interior of the reception hall. The reception hall itself was the perfect size for our 120 guests. We had to move some tables around to create a dance floor, but there was still plenty of room for everyone to comfortably get to their seats or get up and move around. Finally, the full service kitchen in the reception hall was incredible. I really cannot stress enough how big of an advantage this is. When our food arrived it was placed in large warming cabinets and fridges to keep everything at the proper temperature, and when our guests were ready to eat everything was put out on a lunch-line style serving line which made dinner run very smoothly.

The best part of our experience was Jheri, the coordinator for McKinney Roughs. She was knowledgeable and helpful during the entire planning process and was amazing the day of our wedding. While my bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready the entire day I spent my time setting everything up in the reception hall and kitchen. The moment a minor issue popped up Jheri was right there to help me solve it and keep things moving. We had planned on an outdoor ceremony, but the rain came and washed away those plans. Jheri quickly helped us move some tables out of the way to create and aisle and we had the ceremony in the reception hall. At one point one of the bridesmaids needed an iron because her dress was wrinkled. I sent Jheri a quick text and minutes later she's walking into the room with an iron and ironing board, like some kind of superhero. I still don't know where she got them from...There were no disasters and zero miscommunication throughout the day and everything went perfectly.

At the end of all the festivities we simply cleared out all of our decorations and for a reasonable fee the park did all of the clean up. Our experience here was nothing short of fantastic and we are so very happy. If we have any major events to plan we will, without a doubt, be coming back to McKinney Roughs.

The lady in the office gave us the wrong info when we asked the shortest trail to the river. She was nice enough to highlight it on our complimentary map. The trail did not go to the river and having asthma I could not attempt another trail on this trip. Very disappointed I will have to wait until my next yearly trip to Texas before I can visit the park again. What I did see was quite beautiful. Toward the top of the trail the benches become very far apart. There were a couple of places where a bench would be a very welcome site. Perhaps people hired to take our money should be made to hike the trails so they will know what they are talking about.

This is a beautiful and absolutely amazing place to go hiking I definitely suggested take water and comfortable pair of shoes if you want to have a good time if you're fat and lazy go play on the zip lines which were a nice or in my opinion great place to get off the couch and go get active and burn some calories but I would definitely suggest to go in the winter or spring or fall it is a cooker out there in the middle of the summer there are easy hikes all the way to very arduous check it out well worth it

Beautiful venue For a wedding. Even though it was raining the hall was a beautiful backdrop for my niece's wedding. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Such a beautiful nature preserve.

Our son Andrew, 8 went to McKinney Roughs on a field trip today, he loved it. When asked what he loved most he says:
"I got to touch a real alligator and a real snake. And the zoo was awesome TOO!!!

Thanks for making it a memorable day! :-)

Such a great place to get away from the city and enjoy natural. Lots of trails and scenic views, hike along the Colorado River and see a lot of different beautiful plants. There was more to do but didn't get a chance to do it, def going back soon and stay the night and enjoy all the activities there have to offer. Saw deer, rabbit, lots of grass hoppers, other insect's and a snake.

Great spot for a morning hike with good birding, well-maintained trails and ole ty of different habits to hike through.

The visitors center is very nice and there are clean facilities. Only drawback is the hours of operation. It opens at 8 am and in the summer it would be great to start hiking at 7 am before it gets too warm.
