Largo Medical was great. I m fairly new to the area, so went there based on a recommendation when I wasn t feeling well. Staff was friendly, thorough, considerate and worked really hard. The facility is also very clean. Thank you!

Treated fantastically by all staff. Special cudos to Nurse Robin and the intake nurse whose name escapes me with all the excitement but she was so kind and gave me warm blankets.
I went to the ER because my leg was throbbing and since it was my left leg I was concerned about a possible blood clot. The end of the story is that there was NO blood clot. However, to get to that conclusion, the staff ran the necessary tests and then provided the counseling I needed and suggested that I visit my primary for further care. The staff was very kind, considerate, caring and listened to what I had to say. In addition is the fact that they were most knowledgeable in what they were doing and why. Spending time in any ER is no picnic but the staff at Largo Med made it less stressful by being great patient care people.
My son broke his ankle and he is only 14. While they couldn't do surgery cause he is still a child and they referred me to All Childrens Hospital, they were very nice and helped my son. The emergency room was clean and we didnt have to wait a long time to be checked. Over all a good experience under the circumstances.
I've been in various hospitals for various procedures over the years. I just went to Largo Medical Center for the first time recently. From pre-op consultations through intake through surgery through recovery, the staff of this hospital were the friendliest, kindest, and most helpful I've ever encountered. The nursing care was great, the food was outstanding, and the call button response time was usually a matter of seconds. The problem with my description here is that it sounds like I work for the place. But I can assure you, I do not. I'm a real patient who has had real experiences with some less-than-satisfactory medical establishments. I was so happy and relieved at how fine Largo Medical Center is.
I was well taken care of by my surgeon's nurse. She discussed my current medical condition and recommended a physical therapist for my post-op recovery.
The care from the nursing staff was great but the food was the worst I have ever eaten. I can not believe they can serve such terrible food yet charge our insurance and Medicare such high prices. Even the doctor's and staff know the food is bad. When I had diarrhea for several days the doctor asked me if I had eaten the food. That's bad. You need to take some lessons from Morton plant hospital and clean up your food service.
My experience in the Cath Lab was awesome! Then not so Great when I got to the floor and they put telemetry leads on me that we re not clean and smelled like urine and who knows what else was on them. It was Disgusting to say the least.
I hated it. I was given an ultrasound and I screamed when she pusheda certain area and she told me to shut up what kind of hospital is it they treat you like that
Horrible hospital. Inexperienced staff. Did not follow isolation protocol & had an extremely rude tech. Over 8 hours & 5 nurses & still couldn't get an iv started. Will not return.
My husband has been treated here for the past year. We have Always been treated with respect and dignity. Everyone Is WONDERFUL HERE ! I wish there were more LARGO MEDICAL CENTERS
3 years almost to the day following my visit to the ER department, Largo Medical Center is attempting to ruin my life. 3 years ago I went to their ER department for a minor scare which resulted in 10 bills totaling almost $9,000! An exorbitant amount that is completely unjustified given the simple visit. My insurer covered most of it but Largo Medical Center continues to bill me. The last claim was sent back in May. My insurer sent the EOB to Largo Medical Center on July 17, 2018, which Largo Medical Center now claims not to have received. They transferred my case to a debt collection agency so that my credit history could be ruined! Since when did it become acceptable to overcharge patients, harass them for 3 years following a simple visit, drop the ball on patient billing and leave the patient scrambling to figure things out completely on their own? Horrendous service. I am appalled and considering both legal action and a public relations reporting. I hear prominent radio stations have monthly segments on outrageous billing practices.
I received excellent and prompt medical care from the moment I walked in. Dr Roy was very thorough and the nurses were awesome! I could not have asked for better care. I highly recommend this emergency department.
Excellent experience and a great staff that go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Special shout out to my day shift Nurse Becca. Excellent Nurse and very down tomorrow earth, friendly and personable. Overall a wonderful experience and a wonderful Hospital.
IF I HAD A CHOISE iD GIVE NO STARS! I Went in for Very bad tooth pain (Nerve pain because of a broken tooth and I didnt get anything to help me I was discriminated against because of having bruising on my arms and the nueses and were making rude "druggie comments out side my room! They asume I was a drug addict! How unprofessional !! I also contacted human resource and they didn't ever respond to me. that malpractice and discrimination I plan to sue and report them to news. DONT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL THEY'D RATHER DISCRIMINATE THEN DO THIER JOBS!
did not like Largo Medical Center ER and will NEVER be back. They didn't even clean my wound when I visited the ER. Horrible. I just visited the sister location at 2339 Gulf to Bay Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33765 and gave them 5 stars
Never had so many people taking such good care of me. I had a serious surgery and I had the best and brightest nurses, doctor's, physical therapist, occupational therapist, servers, and personal care givers.
Thank you to the nursing staff and care team on the 4th floor! Extra special and sincere thanks and appreciation to the following-Vanessa...and David...Dr. Saliva. The ER physicians and nurses so kind-I thank you. From xray to imaging in the Cat Scan dept- I thank you. And, the sweetest lady who brought meals-thank you for your bright smile and happy sunshine you brought with the meals. I appreciate the kind compassionate culture at Largo Medical Center. Laury
Worst hospital I've been to. I was bitten over a year and a half ago by a spider and almost lost my hand because they dismissed my problem and I wound up with MRSA (which is common and not influencing my review at all bc that happens in hospitals) and went to Morton Plant in downtown Clearwater to have my hand salvaged. 0 stars if could.
My husbsnd Randy went to IROC location and was transported by ambulance to the main hospital. After numerous tests, the cardio team determined a heart cath was necessary as he had a previous heart attack and a stent. He was there for five days. The care given by the emergency room staff, cardiologist doctors (Klein/Klejes), nurses (Mark, Anna, and the others), care team, and the entire staff at both locations was phenominal. We are snow birds from Ohio. We are now set up with a Primary Care Physician and Cardiologist here in Largo. Thank you Largo Medical Center.
I had fusion surgery of the L-2 to L-3 on my lower spine 4/3/2019. I was released 4/8/2019. During my stay at Largo Medical Center I was very impressed with the care I received while I was there. The staff were very friendly and the Doctors and Nurses were really on top of things while I was there. They were all very helpful and caring. This was my second back surgery at Largo Medical Center, both preformed by Dr. Scott Webb from the Florida Spine Institute ( first was 2006, L-4, L-5, L-6) and I had a very good experience with them on both occasions. Even under the painful experience of back surgeries I highly recommend both Dr. Webb and Largo Medical Center. I thank them all for their help and care.
I arrived with extremely high blood pressure. The response of the kind staff was was even faster than instant. A one word summary of all staff would be Kind . Particularly the night duty nurse, John. In the middle of the night he recognized how distressed I was and got ice for my headache, started oxygen and even walked the hall with me. By morning the BP was approaching normal and I was permitted to go home A very appreciative Canadian. Thank you
Dreadful facility. Staffed with prideful, incompetent, rude, dismissive and unqualified people in every department you may have the misfortune of interacting with.
Guaranteed to botch a simple procedure and any aftercare. Will not set you up for success with your recovery. Will nor cooperate with DME providers or with insurance.
Will not hold accountability for their failures, but will absolutely force you to return to them so they can muck up your life furthe .
Everything about my appointment was smooth and warm. Was called the day before to do a pre check in which made check in faster. The gentleman was super nice. Check in the day of was fast and the woman was very nice and helpful. The woman who did my procedure was warm and accommodating and cared about my well being. Really great experience here, thank you!
Took my wife to the ER for major stomach pains and will choose other facilities next time. Got in a room within 5 mi u tes which was great only to sit there for 3hours. Took over an hour just to get a damn blanket which was retrieved by the radiologist see in as the nurse forgot and never again brought it up. Tried to release while she was still in tearss from pain. Lack of attention and lack of wanting to give needed pain meds. Never again.....seemed like amateur hour.
Wait time to be seen was short. Staff was professional and caring. They took the time to explain everything being done. My situation was such that i needed transport to another faculty. The ER DR found the right person and institution to repair my wrist.. He was very concerned about me and wanted the best posable outcome! Only issue was this happened over a seven hour time frame before being transferred and communication between institutions was not 100%
Wow, what can I say about my visit with Largo Medical Center Emergency Department. I show up at the ER very dehydrated, dizzy, projectile vomiting, nauseous and with chest pain. They tried several attempts to set up an IV for fluids but failed. So, it ended up being an "oh well" incident. So, no IV.-- still dehydrated. It took about 2 hours for them to administer oral medication for the dizziness and nausea. THEN, they attempted to give me an EKG on a well known broken machine. After several unplugging and plugging back in the machine I was able to get my results. I was given an X-ray and they said I have pneumonia and prescribed an antibiotic. I was given no discharge instructions by the nurse. She just handed me the papers and sent me down a blurry path. Gee thanks! The next day I went to Tampa General and had all the procedures repeated. They used an ultrasound to find a vein and quickly hooked me up with fluids. My X-ray showed no signs of pneumonia and suggested that I do not take the antibiotic. Needless to say I am very dissatisfied in my treatment with Largo Medical Center Emergency Department.
When you enter a hospital the nurses are definitely the representative of what care you will be receiving. For a speedy in and out of ER you can expect this location to be promising (depending on the day and time), but I love the care and personalities of the nurses here, they truly want the best for you.
I went in with so much pain, almost a straight 10 if my ice pack didn't help lol. The nurses got me in and were able to get me the meds within 3 minutes and ready to head out to get the rest i needed within 10 minutes. They beat registration, I met them on my way out lol. Everyone was sweet and kind, definitely would recommend this hospital, I've been to quite a few, but this one has been my go to. I live closer to another so it shows that I'll go out of my way for comfort.
As always, Largo Medical Center took care of me with professionalism and compassion. I consider it among my favorite places in the area! I never get that feeling like I am walking into a medical center; I feel like I am walking into a friendly, comforting place. The people are fantastic; the vibe is great!!
Staff was wonderful and very thorough. The individual rooms made the experience much better. I would recommend this hospital and ER to anyone in the Clearwater area.
I am currently here have been Sunday...and I'm still in the same bedding from sunday. No sleep since Sunday due to the patient in the next room TV being so loud that I could mute mine and just do the sound from their room. The nurse mimi was awful. I had to have my fiance being me something to make me sleep due to the doc refusal to give me something when I asked at 10pm. The nurse told me when she called the doctor he was rude and told her no it was to early for anything. My room was 75-80 degrees until my fiance turned the stat. Nooooo communicating between doctors. One doc ordered test...can back like they had been done...I informed him NO TEST HAD BEEN. Just awful
John was so grateful that his health problems were taking care of before his heart got worse. He was admitted and had the best of care while there. The nurses and doctors were very patient and understanding of all his needs. In some cases they went over the top in their caring and patience and made John as comfortable as possible during his stay. This was his about his 4th stay at Largo Medical Center and will always request this hospital whenever needed...Thank You Staff for a job well done...Bonita Werz...Wife of John Werz..
I would sooner let a pack of rabid hyenas treat me for a medical condition than ever set foot in this hospital again. They left me huddled in pain, puking and urinating all over myself for hours, while I hit the nurse button and begged to see a doctor. I was quite sure I was dying. The next day when I was able to speak and move again, I told a doctor (who finally came to see me 15 hours after the fact) how upset I was about how I was ignored, and she proceeded to argue with me about what happened even though she wasn't there and didn't bother to examine me, the patient? I told her she needed to do her job, and for that she called me abusive. When I told her to f off for berating me and calling me abusive over her failure, they called security. Needless to say I left that hospital. They refused to give me any antibiotics because apparently it's more important to protect an incompetent doctor's ego than for me to not die. I checked myself in to Morton Plant a couple of hours later and the difference was just night and day. They were competent, compassionate, listened to what happened to me and took great care of me. They had me eating solid foods and discharged me with proper medication less than 48 hours after I was admitted, with no verbal abuse from doctors, no getting ignored by the nurses. I will never forget the absolute trauma of my experience with Largo medical, I can't tell the story to others without crying through it. The whole hospital should be shut down. Absolute clown show.
I was just there to visit my ill grandmother and heard one of the nurses say, very loudly in the hallway, that a patient who had been obviously calling out in distress for fifteen minutes was "crazy". It's distressing because no one should be called that, especially someone who needs medical attention. There was at least three nurses loitering about in the hallway and to my knowledge, it took them a long time to check on him. I normally don't leave reviews of places and I don't want to cause any trouble, but I don't think this is okay.
Ok hospital.. Came in for side of pain.. Waited in waiting room for almost an hour.. Got too the back the Er doc never gave me anything for pain! I will NEVER be coming here again
Rosie the phlebotomists just entered my husbands room requesting blood. She upset because I told her that she wrong for calling my husband honey . It s a normal thing with the staff around here and it needs to stop. It s a sign on his room that says the patient prefers to be called by his first name only. It s unprofessional and a family member or patient shouldn t have to ask the staff each time a patient is admitted here to call them by their name. How is this a teaching hospital, when you have students here following the same mistakes the staff here are doing. Rosie got upset and refused to draw his blood, because she couldn t handle being caught doing something wrong. If I never said anything to her, she would ve drawn his blood with no problem, I m sure.
My grandmother was brought to this hospital since her Primary was on-call here. The hospitalist was new and unreliable, he didn't listen to my mother (she's been my grandmother's nurse), and was unreachable! Nobody had his number! We had to file a complaint and still nothing was done. My grandmother's pain was never managed and there was a complete lack of communication in between nurses/doctors/admin. Extremely disappointing. The only good thing that came out of it was that she is now being transferred to a hospice home so she can finally get relief.
Had a heart cath done here yesterday. Everyone, from the moment we walked in, til the wheeled me out to leave was amazing. They were kind, supportive, answered all our questions, and were fun, too. They were very helpful, and took great care of me and everyone else in the Cardiac Intervention Unit. Could not have asked for better.
The staff was very helpful and friendly! Very clean and sanitizer stations throughout the facility. Went there for a procedure and can't be any more pleased, thanks!
My wife has received excellent care at Largo Med. I have nothing but good things to say about the hospital and its staff. They are caring and considerate.
This was the most fun having a colonoscopy that I've ever had. From the minute I walked up to the receptionist until they wheeled me out to the car, they kept me laughing. Everyone was so nice and caring, and SO funny! They made me feel like it was their mission for those couple of hours to just make me happy and laugh.
Well I could say the staff And the emergency room were really rude It was unclean I still have pictures when I walked in my moms room there was blood all over the floor her blankets were stainedWhen they took her from the emergency room and gave her a room with a bed The stuff in that part wasn't so bad And the food was ok But they just didn't have that special care attention that they should have towards somebody expecially with somebody with special needs like my mom So if you're looking for a place to treat you with kindness I wouldn't come here if you're looking for a place that's clean I wouldn't come here otherwise I guess at least the foods good
The only bad experience was in December of 2017 but after I voiced my concerns and issues the issue was resolved. While there ate still some things I have issues with overall the care is excellent. Some staff nursing and housekeeping do leave much to he desired but a few should not take away from the rest.
You saved my life! The care, sensitivity, expert assessments and top of the line facilities and equipment created a sanctuary of healing, education and plan for future health goals. Thank you for catching me when I was falling into such bad health. My new pathway is healthy and bright!
Extremely good care. Emergency orthopedic admission to non-ortho unit but they went above and beyond to make me feel safe and cared for. ER doctors at Indian Rocks were also super.
The ER and then staff on the 4th Floor took great care of our loved one. Very nice, considerate, well trained and patient staff people offering help every step of the way, w/ clients who were under great stress. RNs, Aides, radiology & more could not have been better. Plus everyplace we went the facility is spotless!
I, too am shocked by some of these negative reviews. This is one of the best hospitals I've had experience with. My mother has had three spinal surgeries at Largo in the past three months. Her surgeon may not have the best bedside manner, but the staff of the hospital is fabulous. It never seems overly busy, and the nurses are THE BEST. They are personable and very caring - from the check in area to surgery to the nurses on the floor. Before my mom's most recent admission, we had to wait in the hospitality area for a room to open, and the nurse there was as so polite and sweet, as was the nurse in the room when we finally got upstairs. This is a great hospital.
All the staff is very friendly, respectful, and very efficient. Went to Baycare in belcher and they send me away bc they didnt have a CT scan, they did us a favor Largo Medical Center has it all.
My mother was a patient there, my grandmother and I could not be with her .. as for the first night she was in the ICU.. in stable condition.. I get a phone call from one of her doctors or nurses telling me with her not awake or able to make decisions for herself .. me being oldest child would have to make medical decisions for her.. He told me he would call with updates or any questions and I recieved nothing... I got no calls with updates or anything.. they never even called me and told me she was awake.. they wouldnt provide any information to my grandmother as well.. very upsetting!! Very unprofessional!! Will be calling and speaking to someone as soon as I can finally get ahold of someone.
I have never felt more neglected. Granted it was a failed suicide attempt..the medical facility at 14th st is terribly abusing their clients..and could care less to check in with patients at the start of shift even. Much less it was at least two hrs to respond to nurse calls or alerts from my so called remote. After leaving me a neurotic emotional wreck they at least transferred me to the psychiatric team in Indian Rocks. Which left much of a similar rattlesnake bedside manner approach to nearly every question asked until graduating to the retreat on the 5th floor. Mass props to psych resident Policoff for attending my needs and TRULY listening to my paranoia schizophrenic malady that so engrossed my life on a daily basis without proper meds. Thank you also to nurses Maggie and Amber ,as well as Geter Done Lauren who made my every request seem as though it was HER DELIGHT in being able to help me. Dont ever change Ladies. Your smiles and jokes were so very cherished. Truly made the difference in feeling like my life was important.
My 85 year old mother had neck surgery on May 12, 2015. As we were from out of state, I stayed with her in the hospital. We were there for 3 weeks. The staff went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Our doctors, Dr. Ragab and his associates, and Dr. Rao, were excellent and very compassionate. The nurses on 4C were wonderful. We made many friends during our visit. Thanks so much
Dr.Moore, Mason and rest of staff are very kind caring and knowledgeable!! I have had an issue for years and have been treated as if it is " all in my head" for so long but not today... Although my labs were normal and i was not in immediate need of surgery or admitting, i was still treated like i mattered and that my symptoms are real... I was given a medication in the er that i had not tried before and it made such a difference! I stopped on my way home and bought some otc... Thanks to the wonderful staff hopefully i can at least be symptom free enough to work and function like a normal person! Thanks again to the wonderful ER staff
The charge nurse and the doctor were very nice. However, the nurse that was attending to me was condescending, rude, and clearly wanted to be somewhere else. Not only was I not feeling good, but she made me feel really uncomfortable with attitude she had towards me. I will never come back to this ER again.
This is Tim's wife- My husband just had Open Heart Surgery at Largo Medical. I can not express the awesome care he has received. He had triple bypass and they had to replace a heart valve. This was very intensive surgery to say the least. The doctors are very professional and saved my husbands life. The Nurses have made our whole family feel special . When he was taken to the second floor after CCU the RN was waiting for him remembering him by name and had his room already. The only complaint i could have is the Cafeteria needs to be opened all day and late at night. But the nurses still brought us coffee. Love his hospital and love Dr Winton( surgeon) and Dr. Klein ( cardiologist) without them I would not have my husband coming home soon. Thank you Largo Medical, Sincerely Cherie
The place was quiet so I was taken right in and treated with a couple of stitches, which was fine, but the antibiotics Prescribed to me turned out to be the wrong dosage. The infection was not going away and so I had to make a trip to my PCP who got me hooked up with the right antibiotics.
Yikes! It s a teaching hospital and they let the residents have total control over your care. They order a lot of unnecessary tests. Lots of blood draws especially. Very understaffed. I feel bad for the care providers there.
My nurse, Holly, was outstanding and deserves accolades and a 5-star rating. She was professional, helpful, listened to me, and treated me with respect. Unfortunately, Holly was the exception in the ER.
The ER doctor acted as if I didn t know my own body (or anything else). I explained my problem to him and told him of the recurring problem (caused by multiple surgeries) that resulted in repeated ER visits and the required resolution in each and every case. First, he prescribed unnecessary medication, but the BIG PROBLEM was when he sent me home with two prescriptions - THE DOCTOR PRESCRIBED ONE RX THAT I WAS ALLERGIC TO AND WAS CLEARLY MARKED IN MY CHART!!! It was recommended that I bring this up with the charge nurse, which I did. The CHARGE NURSE SIMPLY SAID, SO, DON T TAKE IT.
This really isn t the type of ER that I d recommend to anyone. I understand that I am a partner in my healthcare - a responsibility I take very seriously. But, what about the people that have faith in their doctors and would blindly fill a prescription written by a doctor who doesn t pay attention to the important things in their charts?
I d recommend going to a different ER unless you re dealing with something simple that needs attention. Even then, be very watchful and attentive to what s going on and ask questions.
