Teachers Beware!

Teachers Beware!

-No planning periods.

-Admins don't know what they are doing.

-No assessments.

-No IEP writing support, better know how to do it because no training is offered.

-Teachers are expected to work late into the evening.

-No induction program for first year teachers or new hires.

I wish I could give negative stars. Run away if you want to be a teacher.

Staff to client ratio is 1 on 1 practically. My daughter has been here 5 years. Anybody writing negative views is uncomfortable working with special needs people. Posting about some kid nearly killing you at a special needs only school is on you. Why work there if you aren't committed to the special needs community? This job takes a certain person. Not one that complains about pay.

By far the best place I have worked. The atmosphere is welcoming. I was not completely comfortable or familiar with the field when I first started, but left feeling extremely knowledgeable and strong skilled. I always felt supported from coworkers to supervisors. The opportunities I received while working at Laradon we re constant and have led me to nothing but positive impacts on my life. Including my new job. Can t forget the wonderful kiddos that are unforgettable!

My son with autism has made tremendous progress at Laradon. His teachers and staff have worked with him in all areas-speech, OT, behavior as well as academics.
The staff is knowledgeable and thoughtful. They always make time to reach out to me proactively, take time to listen to me, and coordinate with other service providers so that we are all collaborating. They are a dedicated, wonderful team of people who work very hard to make sure my son is meeting his full potential and being as independent as possible. I could go on and on about the staff-but in a nutshell, I consider them an integral part of my son's life and he would not have many of the skills he does today without their unwavering commitment to him.
My son has a limited (but growing!) verbal ability so I must rely on communication with his teachers to know about his day and they do a great job telling me everything that his day entailed. I value that time investment very much. My son is always happy to go to Laradon, and comes home feeling happy as well. His non verbal communication tells me he feels safe and loved, as well as challenged, which we all need.
The campus is beautiful and we really appreciate that the school has specials classes. Not all facilities are able to offer these. Laradon has brought my son many opportunities such as participating in Boy Scouts and Special Olympics.
As a mom, and a person who considers herself an advocate for people with autism I truly do respect and recommend Laradon. And thank them for all they have done and do for my boy.

I will worked for Larodon Hall for 9 years and They workers there work so very hard to maintain a healthy environment each ADULT.
Independently, accordingly to each of the individuals plan. Calling the staff just such an understatement. I believe the proper name for should be life developers and the CNA's should be CNA's/ Life Orientating skilled Cared Givers. They all give 150% of the skills to and learn more as it goes to provide Laradon the up most insperational servos

Dangerous place to work. Children give staff concussions, kick them in the eyes, threw heavy stack of robots at someone and made her neck bleed forcing her to the hospital, almost killed someone by choking her and ruining a vessel in her neck. Staff are not properly trained... No cameras or accident reports. Told to call 'assist' for help but director said she would not be helping if called because she didn't want to ruin her clothes. Always in 'crisis' mode where there is only yelling, crying, and violence in all the rooms and hallways. This is literally a normal day and when a clinical psychologist offered suggestions, supervisors said there's no money for providing the kids with a calmer environment.

The kids don't learn anything, and staff is underpaid basically working in a mental hospital/prison where Management is just collecting money from parents. .

Do not apply here and do not send your kids here.

I've been working in this field for a decade and I've never felt as supported as I do at Laradon. This job isn't for everyone, and those who can't handle it don't last long, but those who can are a special group who give their all and not only enrich the lives of the students they work with, but also their co-workers.

This a great place to work, I've learned so much and know we are making an impact through ABA services, speech, o.t., and opportunities to access the community. This is a last resort for a number of our students and therefore we have staff who are patient, compassionate, and hardworking. I look forward to work each day and don't see myself working for any other team/company.
