This hotel is cozy and the staff is very accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious! There does not seem to be access to the lake from the hotel though. We walked down the road and found a gorgeous pavilion with a lake view. I would definitely stay here again!!!

My wife and I had a most wonderful experience at the Lake Rabun Hotel in the North Ga. Mountains. That hotel staff handled everything in the most professional way possible. The hotel restaurant was outstanding and we really enjoyed out Thanksgiving Day buffet tremendously!!!The hotel and Restaurant manager Josh and his first hand helper Jenna were really special in going out of there way to accommodate us in every-way possible. We really felt like we were back home in Florida because the hospitality was so warm&fuzzy....Not only will we be back ,BUT, all our friends up and down the east coast will come along with us.We have posted all our wonderful pictures of the area on Facebook and everyone will now want to come to your Little Heaven in the Hills Hotel!!!Sincerely,Max&Gloria Cole

This place was absolutely amazing! It is a little old timey looking, inside and out, but has many modern amenities. The staff was extremely nice, very accommodating, and helpful! We didn t get to enjoy the dinner service at the restaurant as it was closed because we stayed Mon-Tues, but the breakfast was fantastic! The bed was comfortable to sleep in, and all the extras for the rooms were nice. We will def be staying here again! What great hidden gem!

We stayed at Lake Rabun hotel for one night. We stumbled upon the B&B online as the area really didn t offer much. We loved the charm that the hotel and restaurant had. Jena was so nice. Yes the rooms are small, but we were there to rest and snuggle since that is hard to come by in our busy life. We had scheduled a couples massage, while they were accommodating it was so cold in the spa room, the lotion, and the massage table it was hard to relax. We had a great dinner, the salad was amazing. My husband said that breakfast was amazing. The only complaints that we had was how cold the hotel was. The fire and heaters around just did not keep up with winter weather. Even with coats on we were so cold. And the second thing that was just a little frustrating was that Josh the manager sat out in the public area where guests are encourage to make themselves at home and made several phone calls about things involving the hotel. Things guests shouldn t be aware of. We were privy to several of the issues at hand within the hotel. We would love to go back and hike nearby, and try it again. However we would want to pick a different season .

Very old style. Very, very North woods lodge style. Room was small but clean. Bathroom was good and very clean, larger than expected. Room temperature can't be controlled with a thermostat so at times the room was very cold. Their recommendation was to open a window.

Bed was ok. There was no TV in room but there was one available in one of the common rooms. There was WI but it was a bit on the slow side. There was Verizon but not AT&T cellular service.

Breakfast was good. Eggs, pancakes, bacon with a fruit yogurt cup. Coffee was good as well. Compared to most free motel breakfasts it was absolutely great.

They had many different types of common areas, a couple of decks, two nice rooms downstairs.

We didn't try the restaurant other than the B&B breakfast so we can't comment on that.

Finally yes we would stay there again.

Had a dinner for my sister at the restaurant March 5th. Great food and great service. She loved it. Also, one of our group is celiac and she was well taken care of with several gluten free options. Staff is very knowledgable about celiac dietary restrictions. I highly recommend.

Just completed our minimoon here over labor day weekend. The stay was comfortable and rustic. Unfortunately their oven went out leaving us without dinner and the concierge only printed off a list of places to go instead. Additionally we were probably asked 8 times if we were celebrating anything, we would say YES! We just got married saturday! This process repeated throughout our stay but they never did anything with the info....update your practice and just don't ask if you're not going to actually help people enjoy their celebration. Breakfast was the best part of the stay.

Friendly staff, unique rooms, rustic decor. Barn doors to access the bathrooms offer limited privacy since there's a 2" gap when closed. Not accessible friendly. Cobblestones to access hotel. Narrow, steep stairs to access 2nd and 3rd floors. Guest must carry their luggage up to rooms.
Restaurant is great. Fresh, local selections. Best mushroom soup I've ever had!

Unexpectedly amazing! I randomly Google searched for a place to stay for my fishing trip, and I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The hotel is neat and the food at the restaurant is INCREDIBLE! To top it off, the staff were all very friendly.

It was exactly what I expected, relaxing, rustic cozy experience. The hotel is clean and the food incredible. The area is great too, lots of things to do around from horseback riding to hiking. On the minus side, room prices are high, especially for off season, considering that the amenities are very rudimentary, it doesn't go well with the class of hotel. also noise is a big issue, you can hear people sneeze on the other room, and unlucky for us, we got the room right next to the coffee machine, so morning was a little rough with everyone gathering around the pot and chatting and using the microwave.

It's important to differentiate the RESTAURANT from the HOTEL, as my experiences were different for each.

The RESTAURANT is fantastic, though pretty small: good service, great food, nicely decorated. Fried oysters, swordfish, salmon, and blueberry cobbler were all excellent. Well worth a trip down the winding roads to the hotel. 5 stars.

The HOTEL is a bit of a disappointment. Our room was a bit dated and in need of some small repairs, and the bathroom looked a bit like someone's first DIY attempt. The photos on their website are also a bit misleading. The staff that greeted us we friendly and helpful, but the accommodations show lack of effort. At $150/night, I expected more.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lake Rabun Hotel. It was a typical rustic B&B and our room was comfortable. Yes, they are small and noise can be heard through some walls, but overall, the hotel is quaint and cozy. The staff (especially the young lady that worked the front desk and served us for breakfast) were very accommodating to us (even when I asked for ice after the kitchen was closed). We had a sneak peak at the 5 new rooms they are opening on the 3rd floor in a few weeks and these rooms were truly AMAZING! They have done a great job with that addition.

We used the marina quite a bit to put in a boat and our kayaks. The marina is a quick walk across the street and down a block or so. The hotel was conveniently located with quick access to the water.

My one and only concern was that I was disappointed in the "shared balcony" outside our room as it was quite dirty and I could not bring myself to sit out there. Anyone with pet allergies would not be able to do so either. It appeared to be such a cozy place to sit in the morning with coffee or in the evenings . . . however, we had to pass on that. I so would have loved that opportunity should it have been better kept (it is one of the reasons we selected the room we booked).

I would definitely visit the hotel again and will be sure to book one of the new rooms. This hotel provides a great way to visit the lake for a weekend getaway!

Reservations made on Opentable are subordinate to ...

Reservations made on Opentable are subordinate to call-in reservations or to guests of the hotel. Made a 7:45 dinner reservation for 2 online. Showed up at 7:20, sat at the bar and enjoyed a drink, while a few over-served patrons cursed up a storm and one actually fell off of the barstool. Charming. By 7:50, asked if we were coming up, "yes, table almost ready". By 8:00, it was "just letting the kitchen catch up", meanwhile, multiple parties of 2, 4 and 9 walked in (presumably within minutes of THEIR reserved time) and were seated immediately. By 8:15, they finally huffed and puffed as if taking our money and serving us dinner at their establishment was doing a favor for us, and offered to seat us at a table right behind the bar, that had been set and open since the moment we walked in. So, were you getting the table ready? Letting the kitchen catch up before the party of 9 next even arrived, or is it simply that reservations made online are second-class compared to calling and talking to the pretentious managers themselves? Reputation precedes this place, not sure what we did wrong here, wouldn't waste your time unless you're staying here and have no other choice, at which point they're already in your pocket and might offer a different level of service to you.

The staff was very kind and helpful. Cottages we stayed (we rented two cabins at Fish Camp Cottage) were a bit too small but they had everything needed. We didn't miss it but there was no TV available in the cabin! It was very quite and private, perfect for some rest.

The hotel was amazing with rustic old lodge charm. Each room is unique with its own theme. There are old wood floors, a warm fireplace, a game room for parlor games not video games. Accommodations were fantastic with a unique and cozy feel. I loved not having a TV or phone in my room although those could be accessed in the lodge community rooms. The manager and staff defined Southern Hospitality. The food was superb. Outside is beautiful Lake Rabun which is a gem in the North Georgia Mountains. I highly recommend a stay at the Lake Rabun Hotel as a romantic getaway.

My husband and I had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary. We stayed 2 nights, enjoyed two delicious breakfasts, and a fabulous gourmet dinner. Our room was both comfortable and rustic. This mountain lodge has a quaint charm and a family atmosphere, with a friendly, responsive staff. It's a step back in time in a lovely mountain location, with all modern conveniences. We had no cell phone coverage, but didn't miss it at all. Good wireless reception. We enjoyed the drive around beautiful Lake Rabun. Don't miss the short hike to beautiful Minehaha Falls, a 15-minute drive away.

We found the staff very welcoming and the hotel areas quaint. The big downside was the size of the room and the bed. It was the smallest bed I have seen in the US. We couldn't open a suitcase except on the bed. There was no room to store the suitcase or indeed clothes if we took them out of the suitcase. I was not only kept awake by snoring in my room but the 2 adjacent rooms too. My husband couldn't get passed the sink to the shower (and whilst tall he is not huge). We left a day early as we needed to repack our luggage for a flight home and had no chance in that room.
We would have had a lovely 'eat as much as you can' meal, except by the time I was asked if I wanted more, the food had run out!! I was also overwhelmed by the amount of food put in front of me for breakfast, a choice of items would have been nice.

Great experience, staff are friendly and helpful, room comfortable and warm, some noise from hallway but to be expected given the age of the building. We did not have the opportunity to experience the restaurant so we cannot comment on that. Overall a great stay and would recommend to others who are visiting that area.

I could sing praises from the tops of these mountains! I cannot believe the exceptional service we received at this beautiful hotel. You're greeted by a beautiful entrance, great local art, and a warm staff. The young receptionist is sweet and very welcoming, the manager was born to do this, he was simply amazing, and our waiter/bar tender was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. I would give the in-house restaurant 10 stars if it were possible, the lamb and trout were out of this world and the fried green tomatoes were excellent. The breakfast was THE best breakfast that I have ever had. I honestly don't think there could ever be a better Mountain hideaway Hotel. My sweet boyfriend took me here for our one year anniversary as a total surprise, I cannot wait to return!

At first glance, the place is intriguing, however, to stay there is a different story. The walls are paper, paper thin. rooms are very small - and the amenities - sparse. No tissues in our room and everything feels cheap.

The staff member we encountered acted as though they were doing us a favor instead of making us feel welcome. We will not return and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the area.

I rarely go for a bed and breakfast weekend but this place may have changed my mind. My wife and I needed a peaceful and quiet getaway to recharge, the hotel is perfect for just that. The staff is excellent, the clientele is civilized and the grounds are beautiful. But what makes this place my new favorite is the restaurant, the food is some of the best I've tasted in a very, very long time; even if you are not a B & B fan you have to try the restaurant, the quality of the food is some of the best you'll find. I will be back for sure

I am a single Father of two , right here at Christmas time this hotels general manager cold heratedly
Made this decision that will effect my childrens christmas. I was astonished by this behavior , please read.

I made reservations at this hotel, putting down a deposit at the time . I could not make it as money was to tight , I spoke with someone at the hotel letting them know I could not come.
The following day this hotel " without my permission or knowing " withdrew almost 200.00 from my checking account.
Surly this was a mistake ??
I called immediately to reconsile this matter as it would devistate me financially.
The hotels stance on this is
" if you cannot make it you still have to pay FULL price for the room "
I was flabbergasted completely , as an industry standard if you cannot make a reservation and speek to the hotel letting them know , the hotel is entitled to keep the deposit , NOT take the remaning room price + tax and cleaning fee for a room i didnt even stay in.

This seemed to be a nice place and at face valie the staff seemed to be genuine , but please do not be fooled .

We had a great time and will definitely return! The staff is friendly, the food was incredible and the beds were comfortable. However, while in the area, you don't want to spend a lot of time in the room. It is across the street from Lake Rabun, with-in close proximity of Clayton, GA and there are hiking trails and water falls everywhere. A great way to get away and relax!

My husband and I went away for a babymoon/anniversary.. We are expecting our second child and spent a weekend hiking around some amazing waterfalls, booked a couples massage at the hotel and dinner. It was wonderful- The staff was welcoming and informational. Dinner was delicious. The rooms were exactly what we expected- Rustic, quaint and just enough room for he and I to enjoy our own company. The other guests were very friendly and the atmosphere of the hotel is a friends welcoming friends. Everyone was very easy to talk to and spend time around.-- We will definitely go back another time.

Positives. Nice Lobby/ground floor with fireplac...

Positives. Nice Lobby/ground floor with fireplace and lounging room. Food was very good, the included breakfast was tasty. Staff were friendly though checkout was odd, more on that under the negatives. It is a cozy bed and breakfast vibe and thus low privacy. Our door had a 1" gap so any sounds in the hallway or noises we made, lol, would easily be heard.
Con's. Our room, Cherokee, was extremely small which required suitcases on the bed for any unpacking/packing etc. Bathroom was nice but had a feel of "cheap cabin" construction, minor issues but at the price point they charge, I was not expecting to see smeared grout on the edge of the shower ceiling etc. Basically construction details that a homeowner would not accept or I often see this type of work in a cheaply made rental cabin in the mountains.

My S.O. nearly stepped on a very large cockroach in our room during the first night. Created a bit of excitement but overall not a huge thing to us as it ran down the hall to another room lol, and we didnt see another during our stay.

"Individual Room Thermostat" appeared to do absolutely nothing. Our room temp ranged from 71 to 75 and adjusting the thermostat from 70 to 65 made zero difference and I quickly noticed that the fan was control by something else besides our thermostat. I woudl change the fan speed between auto to high and made zero difference on when it would run etc. Again, minor but 2 people in a bed when it's 75 can be just a bit warm.

Coffee/Keurig was malfunctioning on our floor (3rd) but we simply used the 2nd floor machine. Again, very minor but see the trend? at this price point, details matter. Lastly, the water fountain, coffee table were feet from our door so it was basically a 7am alarm clock. The other guests might as well have been entering our room to make coffee given how loud the noise was due to the large gaps around the room doors.

Lastly. At checkout I politely brought up the many issues and was basically told "ok, I will tell management". And nothing else. I wasnt expecting a room reduction etc but at least a token apology or some sign of concern.

So for us, it was a weekend to get away, unwind and take a break. We managed to do that but we could have been staying anywhere as the leisurely day trips are what counted, not the lack of relaxing in our room. 2nights, 1 meal for 2 was roughly $650. At that price point I had higher expectations.

Absolutely stunning place! I was looking for a get-away from the main stream life, and had picked this on the map. It is well above my expectations and I will surely be back! The price is awesome, the rooms are great for a single person or a couple, and the complementary breakfast was better than I'd get at a pay restaurant. I just had dinner and it was spectacular. I can't express enough how awesome it is here!

Okay, so I have read all the reviews on Lake Rabun...

Okay, so I have read all the reviews on Lake Rabun Hotel and I will be as honest in my explanation as possible. Did I enjoy my stay overall? Yes. Do I believe my stay was worth the price I payed? Absolutely not. My wife and I stayed in the Inn Keepers Cottage as it was our wedding weekend. The staff was definitely nice and accommodating, there is no doubt about that. It was extremely cozy, quaint, and unique. The restaurant was good(specifically breakfast), but this is about as far as the appeal goes. It is true that the Lake is not actually visible from the hotel and that there is nowhere nearby to enjoy the lake. Our entire cottage was unfortunately not cleaned well prior to our arrival. The dust was out of control, the showers had black mold throughout most of the grout(not just in a few spots but everywhere), septic tanks outside caused an unpleasant odor of sewage that could be smelled anytime a door or window was opened, and the infestation of cockroaches was unbelievable. Now I understand that the buildings are old, but just in the first of four nights we saw and killed 7 large cockroaches. A handful more appeared in the following days, including on the kitchen counter. We even have a photograph of a cockroach that climbed onto my wife s wedding dress prior to the ceremony. Just imagine how any woman would feel if a massive cockroach crawled on her during her wedding ceremony. Now we are people who try to stay positive and see the best in things, especially on our wedding weekend. I bought bleach cleaner, cleaned the mold myself, and didn t complain once during our stay. This review is in no means meant to degrade the hotel, but it is what I experienced.

An excellent stay... again! I have been visiting this hotel for over 40-yrs. and it's had ups and downs... with different staff and owners. The current group has taken the facility up to a new level. The entire facility has been updated and beautifully appointed.

Indeed, the rooms are on the small side. (The place was built in the 1920s and rooms were small in those days... and did not have in-room baths. When individual bathrooms were added over a decade ago, the sizes were squeezed a little, even though the number of rooms was reduced to accommodate the additions. If you desire a full-sized suite, select one in the Innkeeper's Cottage... my favorite.) But, the rooms are comfortable, warm, with great linens and pillows. No TV or phones in the regular rooms... but this hotel in not a place you go to hang out in the rooms anyway! The shared lounges offer a warm, open fire, grand piano and comfy reading chairs... and a large TV, if desired.

The staff was friendly and very accommodating! The restaurant is SUPERB... featuring exquisitely prepared, local, farm-to-table fare.... voted one of the Ten Best in GA for good reason. An excellent selection of hand-picked wines and full bar are a welcome addition.

Highly recommended for a romantic getaway or an HQ when enjoying Lake Rabun and its surrounding beauty!

We stayed at the Lake Rabun Hotel for 3 nights in September. It is fantastic there and we loved the quaint hotel, the damn good food, the very friendly staff and the very wooded area. Definitely visit the "Tallulah Falls" !!!
Why only 4 stars? Very easily; The room was so small that you had to put your suitcases / bags in the middle of the way and had no opportunity to hang anything or give anything because there was nothing for it, and actually the price is too high for it !!

Would definitely recommend Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant...5 stars!

Stayed 1 night March 9. What a Bed and Breakfast gem! We felt lucky that we found this hotel on line. Staff was wonderful from check in to dining and check out. Wonderful farm to table dinner options cooked to perfection. Impressive big breakfast - juice, yogurt/granola/lots of fresh fruit parfait, omelet with cheese and vegetables, grits, biscuit French toast, bacon. Lovely atmosphere, all wood but not overwhelming. Each bedroom little different from the others. Even the other guests were very happy and friendly. Definitely recommend it.

We love every single thing about this place. We have done photography for two weddings here and would come from Chattanooga as many times as they would have us. Josh and the rest of the staff are incredible. I work at a wedding venue and have been doing wedding photography for over ten years. My standards are high for venues... And this one is by far one of the best! The food is the best wedding food I have ever had! The service is impeccable, and of course the views are stunning. They will go out of their way to make sure that the bride and groom (and guests) have everything they need, but also they tend to the vendors which is so appreciated!

I've visited the Lake Rabun Hotel on several of many trips to Lake Rabun, but never had the chance to stay in the hotel. I finally got the opportunity recently. This place is great! My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 4 year anniversary and wanted to do something that took us away from the city life. Slow down, relax, relate and release from it all and Lake Rabun Hotel was the perfect place. They staff was very nice and accomendating. We also adding in a little zip lining at Starburst Stapples and went on the waterfall couples hike. I would say the only down side it that the wall are super thin and you can hear everything going on inside and outside of your room. So I wouldn t suggest honey mooning here if you know what I mean :0)

I highly recommend this place and experience.

This was an incredible experience from the initial call to inquire about the hotel and book our hotel and restaurant reservation all the way through our entire stay. This hotel is located in an awesome location with great scenery and the staff was great. It's always great as well to have a restaurant on site that has groups of people coming to eat that aren't even staying at the hotel, which confirms that people know it is an excellent restaurant with great food.
