Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Loved the charm and the feel of history plus the lovely surroundings enhanced by the beauty of fall. The staff were wonderful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. The only issue we had was that the cats continued to wander in. Many people loved them but we had cat allergies in our group. Just wish we had been forewarned.

Have been wanting to book a stay in this hotel for years, so this stay was a check off the bucket list. We were not disappointed. The peace and quiet were just what we needed to recharge after a very busy month. Also wanted to give kudos to the massage therapists....we had booked an hour long couples massage for right after our arrival, but were delayed due to issues with the GPS. These ladies were kind enough to reschedule our appointment for a later time when they really were not required to do so....and the massages were fantastic. The only complaint ( which isn't as much of a complaint as a suggestion) would be the early breakfast hours....perhaps extending breakfast to 10 am would allow for a more leisurely morning. We will most definitely return.

Exactly what I wanted - a quiet place to unplug, read, write, think, slow down. The Garden Room's private porch was perfect for all those things! The setting was beautiful (lovely landscape and view of Lake Rabun), the bed and bedding was very comfortable, and the shower pressure just right (and plenty of hot water). I didn't notice the rooms being any noisier than any other hotel (I travel a lot for work), however, a white noise machine is provided in case you're sensitive to noise. The staff were all superb - so friendly and helpful. The breakfast is outstanding - something different everyday, and perfect fuel for hiking nearby Tallulah Gorge or Panther/Angel Falls. And dinner - well, wow! Some of the finest cuisine anywhere. I can't rave enough about Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant and will definitely visit again and again.

We're from Texas and this was our first trip to this part of Georgia. This place was terrific! Small cozy room. Comfortable bed. Coffee bar and refrigerator right outside our door. Very rustic place with lots of history. It was explained that the walls were a little thin, but they provided a "white noise" machine that we used and slept well. The complimentary breakfasts were great, though while a grits fan, I'm not a hominy and grits fan. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Louie's, across the road, has great pizza too. Lot's of places to eat in nearby Clayton, GA. It rained every day of our 3 day visit, but that afforded us one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had. My favorite spot was the 2nd floor balcony over the hotel entrance. We spent a lot of time here visiting with other guests, the hotel cats, or just quietly reading. Another great reading spot was the lobby, next to the fire place. Staff very friendly and helpful. We're fans and will definitely be back!

So homey. Fresh baked cookies on each floor, no tvs in the rooms, beautiful views from the rooms and second floor porch, local food and decor, chefs choice breakfast, only 8 rooms. Loved the unique atmosphere. Nice change of pace from regular hotels. The only thing is there are some drivers that try to speed through the local roads in the middle of the night and the air conditioning doesn't get too cold, but it was cool at night so we just cracked a window and the temperature was perfect.

For our Anniversary this year my husband wanted a cabin and a hot tub.. I wanted something that didn't mean me cleaning and cooking the whole weekend, Lake Rabun Hotel was a sweet little compromise.. He got his nice rustic cabin feel (no hot tub) and I got a free gourmet breakfast for two days and delicious dinner every night (no dishes)! That Friday was rainy and cold so being greeted by a cozy fire as you walked in the door was dreamy! The downstairs has the feel of walking into your own Cabin on the Lake, you feel right at home. The Decor was perfect for the style of the house and was a bonus because you felt transplanted back in time. Looking at the pictures on the website your room looks extremely small...but although it was small it was bigger than expected which was a relief. Cozy and Lovely the bed was a queen size dose of fluffy and perfect for a weekend of snuggling. The walls are thin and the white noise machine was a tad bit annoying but its and older home and there is not much you can do about that...we put on some lovely oldies and called it even. I would like to add there was little to no noise except at night when the restaurant was in full swing. We were not really bothered by that. We sat on the beautiful balcony, sipped some champagne and people watched. The bathroom was charming. A huge shower with a mixture of modern and rustic finishing. Our room had a umm view of the parking lot..but your in the mountains surrounded by trees and a partial view of the lake... you get over that real quick..Did I mention the food... when I read a free gourmet breakfast was included each day of your stay... I wasn't ready... Best Breakfast ever!! They even took note of my dietary restrictions while I was making my reservation and each morning specialized my breakfast to accommodate me! In fact I noticed that they were very accommodating to many of the guests different dietary restrictions and allergies. Dinner both nights was fabulous and before it goes off the menu the the chef's burger of the month with candied sriracha bacon is a must have! If you are looking a quick getaway The Lake Rabun Hotel is perfect... I would definitely recommend you give them a chance with realistic, knowing expectations! This is an historical, charming BandB with updated modern conveniences and that's what you will get and that's what you have to want! A big Thank you to the staff who are like your personal tour guides and concierges! Very sweet and nice and made the stay pleasant and fun! Looking forward to our next stay!

Such an awesome boutique hotel. My wife and I are very much looking forward to spending our 1 year anniversary at this beautiful place. The staff, the food, the service, the rooms.... everything was absolutely amazing. So much so that we have stayed here 3 separate times. And if you re looking to get married, this place is the perfect venue, well equipped for the highest level of service and accommodations.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Lake Rabun Hotel. Ken made an excellent host and the rooms were clean and fresh air was abundant. The scent of the lovely decorated Christmas trees and the huge fire place and stove, with a baby grand piano and pretty paintings displayed around the lodge, very nice. The dinner and breakfast were the best. The hospitality and service was reason to come back.

I travelled with my friend. One room with two beds would be nice, for those of us that are not honeymooning and just want a restful retreat. This is the place.

This restaurant is nestled in a wooded area across a narrow, winding road from the man-made lake. They took our temperatures before seating us, which was appreciated in this era of COVID. We sat in the screened in outdoor area. It was a bit like sitting in a tree house, quite cozy and romantic. We noticed that the wobbly table we had, underneath the tablecloth, was a standard issue steel mesh patio table.

Wonderful cocktails (who thought basil muddled with strawberry would be delicious?). Decent craft beer selection from around the country, but wish the the list was longer than about 6-8. The wines by the glass list was quite limited; they clearly expect you to be sharing a bottle. Not in the cards for us, with a drive home ahead.

We both got New York strip steaks, which lately has also become standard for us when dining. Very little fat on/in either of our steaks, and good flavor. They were both cooked perfectly. A little bit on the small side, but the quality was definitely there.

We declined dessert as we were planning s more s later that evening.

All in all, a cozy, high end, high-quality restaurant in an idyllic setting. A little expensive for what you get, and a little small on the entree portions, but definitely worth the visit.

We had a fantastic time at The Lake Rabun Hotel last weekend. The staff and management went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, and made us feel like part of their little family. Our room was very comfortable, with luxurious linens and great pillows (pillow snob, here). Chef Ryan prepared a delicious meal for us upon arrival, and we cant say enough about the amazing breakfasts we enjoyed each morning. We both loved the rustic charm and history of the Hotel and have told all of our friends and family that its a must add on their list of places to stay. We look forward to returning, soon.

Everything about this hotel & restaurant is great! Different than your typical hotel. We stayed in the Moonshine Room; a bit small but if you're out & about its perfect! The staff is so nice & willing to help. The food here was probably my favorite part about my trip!! Will be coming back here!

Could not have had a more enjoyable stay. The staff made my husband's birthday a special event. The food is to die for (get the lamb shank, trust me) and the rooms are rustic and casual. If you prefer something more quiet, get a room on the third floor. The second floor is a little noisy. Other than that, we'll definitely stay here again!

Had a wonderful evening and look forward to going back. Dinner at the Inn was a Mother's Day suprise for my wife and my mother. The staff made us feel at home and even offered to prepare my picky daughter something off the menu when she wasn't in the mood for anything on the menu. The food was excellent, I had the burger and it has to rank as one of the top five burgers I've ever had. My wife had the crab cakes and my mom had the trout, both of which were excellent choices.

Wonderful hotel and restaurant! We stayed two nights and can't wait to go back! We have dietary issues (gluten and dairy) and the chef gave us a delicious gourmet breakfast in accordance with our restrictions. So yummy! The hotel is old (built in 1922, but modernized) and quaint, but comfortable and inviting with a number of communal spaces - it feels like you're visiting someone's old home. And the staff goes out of their way to be helpful and welcoming, so it is a great place to stay.

Very friendly! We showed up early, were invited to look around, and were offered drinks while we waited! How can you get better than that?

Food. It was good... a couple small errors though:

Pork was slightly overcooked at the edges and dried. As if someone wanted to make sure the center was done, but misjudged the external effect.

Grand Mariner caramel with the chocolate torte was incorrectly prepared. Honestly, caramel that ends up crystallizing should never be plated.

So now the great:

Focaccia bread was brought out warm and was so flavorful! The wedge salad was very nice. But the local salad was top notch! Blood orange vinigrite was light and satisfying, allowing you to still taste all the other elements of the salad! Get it!

The Filet Mignon was one of few that literally melts in your mouth. With great mashed potatoes and phenomenal honey roasted beets this was easily the best entree on the table.

We were sad the swordfish had run out, but it will not keep us from returning.

Next time we come, we are staying the night and will let you know about that as well!

The Hotel is absolutely charming and comfy feeling. We stayed in the cottage located very close to the hotel. I would describe it more like a lodge. Plenty of places to sit and just relax, read, or just enjoy the fire. Extremely nice people and the breakfast was to die for! They have a bar and made a fantastic chocolate martini for me. The only downer was that it rained so we didn't have any time to do some walking.

What a wonderful experience! Came for a long weekend for a family member's wedding, and the lush Georgia mountain setting couldn't have been more beautiful. The staff (Ken, Jenna, Robin) were all so helpful and kind! The rooms are rustic and comfortable (those beds! those pillows!), providing all the immediate needs. My sister's room even had a corner fireplace (working!) that was both romantic and cozy. I am an extremely light sleeper, so you can imagine my surprise when I found that the rooms not only have ceiling fans, but also noise machines! The complimentary breakfasts each morning were delicious traditional southern foods. The two resident kitty cats provided welcome company on both of the second story porches for both early morning and late evening relaxation. This is a SMALL town (we're talking one and two lane windy roads here), so you shouldn't come expecting the Waldorf or tons of restaurants within walking distance. All the places we visited to eat in nearby Clayton were AMAZING, so definitely suggest that. Highly recommend visiting!

This hotel has so much charm and rustic appeal. My NEW husband and I stayed recently to have our small wedding at a nearby water fall. However the rain changed our plans and we got married on the balcony on the front side of hotel It was absolutely picture perfect and romantic.
The staff here can be summed up in one word "amazing"! We had no complaints on service, hospitality, or restaurant staff! The five star breakfast each morning spoiled us rotten and kept our bellies full while we explored the Falls and local shops each day. We also ate at the hotel on our wedding night for dinner and that also was a great experience. It was a very elegant fine dinning experience.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to explore the trails, shops, or enjoy the lake in this area. It is true the tree top rooms are a little less than what is pictured however it is perfect for a nice place to come home to after exploring and having fun all day! I would suggest the Master bedroom in the cottage as we moved to that room after realizing the Garden room might not work for getting ready on wedding day. (however still prefect if you are there to enjoy a weekend away for 2) The master is a little more pre night however it is roomy and has bigger bathroom and is apart from the main hotel. I would like to thank the staff for making the week of our wedding so rememberable we will see you on our anniversary!
Jenna you are amazing!

Enchanting place to stay with world class food and service! My wife and I really didn't know what to expect but we can't wait to go back. Lake Rabun has a rare charm-boathouses, clear water, mountain setting, lots of trees and mountain laurel, dramatic river gorge. The hotel retains the original 1920's look and feel. What you give up in modern room sizes and amenities is far outweighed with the positives of being transported to a different time and place. Impressive period furnishings in the common areas inside and out.
The food was the best part! We expected good. What we got was great! Both of us were saying that it was the best dinner we had ever had. Breakfast the next day was over the top and wonderful as well. Friendly staff.

full disclosure, i'm not a fan of Bed and Breakfasts, but this one came recommended so we gave it a shot.

we were only in town for one night and came a little later in the evening so no one is there to greet you, we picked our key up at the front desk and since we left the next morning we didn't see anyone on the way out either.

the area is very scenic and beautiful, we obviously didn't get to enjoy that aspect of it, so what we're left evaluating was the room itself which was cramped but clean. I think if you like BnB and will be staying for more than a day you'll get to enjoy it more than we did.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel! Yes, the rooms were small but having a private bath was much more important than a larger room. Prior to the renovation a few years ago, there were only shared baths. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating--especially Jenna at the front desk. We had an opportunity to see the new rooms on the third floor and they are gorgeous--will definitely book one of those the nest time! It was our anniversary and we had a special request for flowers and they were in the room when we arrived. They made dinner reservations for us and helped us with trips to see the local scenery. We can't wait for an opportunity to return!

Do not be fooled by the description on their website. Google maps has them marked as lakefront, they are not. Parking is atrocious because of the restaurant. They claim to have a section for hotel guests only, but it is taken up by restaurant goers, we had to park two feet away from the street until the restaurant closed and the people cleared out of the hotel parking. The bathroom door provided zero privacy. It was a sliding barn door that didn't close and had gaps all through the middle. There is no elevator, so be ready to lug your clothes up a narrow stairway. We didn't even stay for our second night even though we already paid and knew we wouldn't get a refund. This hotel is one inconvenience after another, avoid this place.

My husband, dog, and I stayed in Fish Camp Cottage and it was a truely unique experience! Travel is tricky with COVID but check in and check out were truely touchless and social distancing with the other cottages was no problem. The kitchen was adequate to cook all our meals and we hiked every day - the hotel even suggested some trails that we enjoyed. The cottage is decorated tastefully. Being from central Florida we found the mountain views to be especially exciting. Finding dog friendly places is challenging and we truely appreciate that they allow dogs in these adorable cottages.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at Lake R...

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at Lake Rabun Hotel. The rooms are incredibly small and sparse. Our room was a bed, one suit case stand, a foot stool and a very narrow shelf. Even with these sparse amenities, there was hardly room for two suit cases. The extremely thin walls, the unsealed door (a two in gap of open air between the top of the door and the frame) and the window that was about two feet from the porch that everyone is encouraged to use as a social space meant that there was no privacy. Our bed cover had a dark stain about the size of small plate on it.

When checking in, and when we asked about how exposed the room was, the woman on duty was unfriendly and made no effort to help.

Some of the furniture in the public areas is quite old and needs to be refurbished or replaced. There is, however, a nice set of leather chairs in the main public room. This is at the restaurant entrance, and seems as if more attention is paid here.

It should be noted that you can't actually see the lake from Lake Rabun Hotel. Their website suggests otherwise, and I was a little disappointed to see that. The views in the area are very nice.

I can attest to the quality of the food, because breakfast was not served due to a power outage. The power outage was not their fault, but they offered no alternative, not even something as simple as fresh fruit, so we had no breakfast during our stay at their bed and breakfast. There was also no running water to shower, due to the way their plumbing is setup. I mention these things because of their utter lack of customer service when handling the situation.

I can not recommend Lake Rabun Hotel, and do not plan to return.

We have been dining here for nearly a decade and tonight is the first time we have been disappointed. The appetizers were excellent, except the cocktail sauce with oysters, which had too much ketchup. But as we finished our appetizers, our entrees came, a giant faux pas. And not only did the swordfish smell fishy, but both plates were lukewarm. We won t be going back until we get assurances that problems in the kitchen have been resolved.

First time staying in a bread and breakfast and I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. This place is old, but has been well kept. Being someone who suffers from dust allergies severely and a slight mold allergy I was a little scared of the outcome. My wife and I stayed in the Garden and it was clean and exactly what we needed after a day of paddle boarding on Lake Rabun. We followed up with eating at the restaurant and wow! I got the halibut which was the catch of the day and my wife got the shrimp and grits. That was the best meal I ve ever had! I ll be back for sure, thanks for the pleasant experience for our 9th anniversary!

We arrived early and Beth accommodated us by having our room cleaned first. In the meantime, we sat in front of the fire and became engrossed in our books. When our room was clean, Beth gave us a tour of the hotel and showed us the common areas and our room, named The Appalachia. It was one of the newest rooms on the third floor. The room was very nice and included a king-sized bed and a large bathroom. There was a dresser and a closet. There were windows along one wall which could be opened. There was a coffee maker and snacks right outside our door in the hall. We could also reach our room via the back deck stairway and not have to go through the main foyer. There are actually three common areas, not including the bar or dining areas. Breakfast was plentiful and good and included eggs, sausage, biscuits with gravy, fruit, yogurt and granola. The hotel was beautiful, decorated for Christmas. The staff was very accommodating. We will definitely stay again!

This was our first time staying in a small bed and breakfast type setting and I must say it's just not my cup of tea. Aside from having to make awkward small talk with other guests as we carried up our bags, the inn smelled musty and whoever was in the room next door to us had a pneumonia like cough that even the complimentary white noise machine in the room couldn't hide. It was definitely an experience. Staff was very nice but atmosphere not my thing.

We stayed at Lake Rabun Hotel one night on the way home from our honeymoon. We found it using Google because honestly the area did not have much in over night accommodations, and by the pictures it does look like a cozy place. Well, it was cozy, a little too cozy as a matter of fact. The rooms were tiny (not much bigger than the bed) and you could hear through the walls. There is a very nice restaurant/bar at the inn but that created some night-time noise which kept us up. The staff inn was very nice and the included breakfast was exceptional. I will not be going back but it could be a nice getaway for someone looking to get out of Atlanta for a couple of nights.
