Expected to see more of European art from famous artists like Rembrandt, their website claims so but did not find any & a few buildings were closed for renovation, so it was quite disappointing after paying $25.

The place is wonderful. It has a unique charm. If you visit at night the main attraction are the famous lampposts that appear in most romantic movies. People are usually characterized by time. A very interesting place The only bad thing is that there are so many people that it is difficult to take a picture without people behind.

I like a good time enjoying the arts, and I love that this connects with the La Brea Tar Pits. Definitely an experience. I personally didn't like how the tour guides were a bit rude, BUT whatever. So many more things to enjoy.

Definitely make it a point to visit and explore.

It s beautiful as you see in the pictures! The atmosphere is energetic, on Fridays they have free live music... everyone outside, with theirs kids and dogs and friends. Not talking about the art pieces inside the museum. Just beautiful!

Getty Center might the prettier museum for visit. But this museum has the most selection and much easier to get too. This museum has so many thing to see it take you a good half day or more too just look around. I am very impressive with their Japanese art selection, so many artwork and collection. This museum well worth the admission it ask, even better it offer free in certain holiday which is sponsor by Target. Parking isn't free but street parking meter is a lower rate in this area. Unfortunate the area is kinda ghetto feeling, there's not much to see in walking distance. Only the inside of the museum cost admission, their two most well-known attraction. Rock and the street lights is free to go by and you can take some aresome picture with it !

Beautiful place. Full of amazing paintings. I love learning about the painting and their history. It's a self guide museum. Lots of buildings and they're separated by time era and location of the world. I love the outside display of urban light it's a must see

The art, in my opinion, is drab overall.
There were maybe two interesting pieces out of the whole.
Half of the exhibit was closed, though, so that definitely contributes to my review.
I wouldn't personally consider a lot of this stuff to be art; but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my opinion, a whole lot of it is just something for tourists to take selfies with, and only art to liberals. Much of it was just trash and things that should have been recycled (and made into more useful items) with a liberalist pity story behind it that somehow made it "art".

Tldr; not a good time.

Bring your ID with your L.A. address or bring a bill with your name and address on it (plus I.D.). We were surprised to find out that the museum is free after 3pm on weekdays. I would call to double check hours etc before showing up. The museum is huge. We haven't even scratched the surface on discovery yet. I enjoyed it and will return.

One of my favorite museum spaces in LA. Their collection is expensive! There is something for all tastes from ancient Egypt to Japanese and Contemporary art. Their permanent collection is rotating, so you will always find something new. They have a great family space and programs that engage kids in looking at and making art.
Free guided tours are offered on weekends.

Warning: the museum is undergoing a massive building project over the next 3 years. Many of the buildings will be closed and off limits until construction is done. It may not be worth the ticket price until they reopen.

Now is not a good time to go. All the exhibits are basically closed off. When we went and bought the tickets no one told us. No when we went to go to the exhibits we wanted to visit everything was closed

Skip this one, go to something like the Getty Center instead. This was a lot of string lights hanging from the ceiling and mirrors connected to monitors on the floor... I was really not into the "modern contemporary art" vibe of this place. If you have ever been to something like the Art Institute of Chicago this will REALLY just disappoint you...LACMA calls itself encyclopedic in its approach, but this didn't translate the way you would think. It was a jumble of poorly curated art, displayed in really unimaginative and uninteresting ways. There was way too much empty wall space and not enough art, the exhibits just ended up feeling tiny in a huge warehouse-like space and I found myself feeling pretty bored. The descriptions of the art was also very puzzling, tiny fonts in square shapes with everyone huddling to the two corners of each exhibit while the ushers in each exhibit just stare like they think you're about to steal something...I'm all for securing the pieces but 6-7 ushers in a space with maybe 3 pieces of "art" if you want to call it that...I really couldn't help but laugh and roll my eyes. All in all, we paid $15 for each ticket plus $16 for parking and when we got back to our car we both had to laugh because it was almost insulting how much it ended up costing us to see this...stuff. In summary $46 dollars later and I feel like I gained a better understanding of what the word pretentious means to me. I guess there's that at least.

I was here on Thursday 4/19. Beautiful venue. Great architecture. Broad abundance of art collection - varying from paintings to structures. Although a few of the galleries were closed for renovation, there was still a lot more to see and absorb. I plan to come here again on my next visit to LA

This museum displays geographically diverse artwork of many cultures. It would take several days of walking observation to do it justice. We spent most of the day in Resnick Pavilion, and we're most pleased.

Easy to have hours fly by here. You can't do it all in a day. Become a member, keep coming back-- for modern American/ European Art, for art from around the world, for films, for discussions, for events or just the beautiful grounds and contemplative cafes.

This is a great little place to come out and just relax. Not sure if it's true for all of them, but some of the galleries are freely accessible to the public. The lamp posts comprise a beautiful structure which is better viewed at night when it's all lit up. Must come check this out whether you're a local or a visitor!

As an art student, it's a good place to find really good pieces and inspiration. There's alot of great exhibits. As a person, it's a nice place for instagram pictures, dates, and to walk around. It's right next to the LA Brea tar pits so there's alot of room and grass to walk around or lay down.

Great exhibits, lots to see. Even just walking outside, there's a great deal to explore, from the Tar Pits to the giant boulder, to the lamp posts or front. I went to the Kubrick exhibition last year and it was fantastic.

LA residents get free admission after 3pm every weekday!
