I really love the museums in Los Angeles. The city has a real wealth of quality but in my opinion LACMA is the top. It doesn't have the architectural unification of Getty Center but its diversity is its beauty. The same can be said of the collections. Wonderful and diverse. Also shares space with the La Brea Tar Pits, Page Museum and Peterson is across the street. I believe a metro station is being opened soon which will be great for those of us who would like to take the train.

For the 25 USD that the general admission cost is a quite poor museum. Moreover taking into account that opening hours for summer hours is a quite narrow window. Not all people want to visit a museum on a weekend when it's the busiest time. Korean calligraphy exhibition was great, same for the playtime exhibition. Metropolis II is an excellent exhibition, it's a pity that they only run it on Friday and Saturdays. Again, LA, what's going on with your schedules? Do you think tourists only visit LA on weekends during summer holidays? Guards where quite rude as well. You feel everytime persecuted, as if you were a criminal... In some rooms there were more guards than people!! Also when they close they made us leave the outside gallery with benches... What's the point of having an outside gallery with benches if after closing time you cannot sit and relax after walking a lot. Weird conception of a museum and hospitality they have. Anyway, I really feel sad that the bad running of the museum ruined my experience as there are so many good artists on view. I really hope you improve this!!
The Stanley Kubrick exhibit was one of the best things I have ever seen. Great museum with ancient exhibits within it's cavernous layout that deserve to be seen.
LACMA is just amazing. I make it a point to go by at least once whenever I'm in the city. It's such a great place to relax, look at unique sculptures, and take great pictures. Urban Light is by far my favorite and is always great to see during the day and night time.
It's one of the top museums in LA and they always have a good sense to bring good tracking shows in so you will always be happy you visited. Their excellent Assyrian and middle Eastern collections are quite the sight to see
Great exhibits! The staff is vigilant, which I appreciate, but they also seem to have frayed nerves. The cost of admission was high so I'd suggest you give yourself plenty of time.
I went there to write so this review is more about their on prem coffee shop than LACMA. The coffee shop is a great place to be able to sit and write in the afternoon. They have electrical sockets outside on the walls. No electrical outlets inside the coffee shop. They have open wifi which is a bit spotty. I had to use my cell phone as a hot spot
The museum outside have this iconic style and view to take the photos. It s not crowded around 5pm, but to visit the museum inside it s open till 5pm (that s why I couldn t get inside, because it was closed already to buy the ticket)
The best! Check out Levitated Mass. Michael Heizer is a genius and we need to make a cult where he gives daily seminars or something. Probably out in the desert around Vegas because the area around LACMA didn t look so cult-friendly. It s probably self aggrandizing if he does his own crown tho so dm me if you commission in the metal scene.
Museum with a wide variety of permanent collections as well as temporary exhibitions. Given its diversity, it's hard not to find a collection that you will like.
So pretty especially at night but too crowded to take some photos. There should be a line so everyone can take turns taking photos without photo bombers. Either way it's interesting
I wish I had more time to explore, this is a whole campus of buildings full of art! I'm thinking you can't take pictures inside any of them...I didn't see any signs saying not to, but I was told to stop taking a photo by one of the guards. :/
Had a wonderful time with my female here. Would only change one thing about this place. The cleanliness of the near by water fountain wish there was more parking but hey its L.A.
Big place got to see one of the tar pits and walk around for a little bit. The lights were very interesting as they turned on for the evening as the sun set.
Amazing art stop when in LA. I particularly loved the contemporary art collection and the installations - Levitated Mass, and Chris Burden's iconic Urban Light.
In love with the variety of the collections here. Here's artworks from the ancient to modern times and include asian, latin, and islamic art. You must walk around the museum. Museum is not big. And it's easy to explore in less time.
best museum ever. I love coming here and seeing all the different art they have. I can spend countless of hours here just looking and learning. There so much to admire when coming here. You enjoy yourself
One of the great art museums in the U.S. If you are a Los Angeles County resident you can get a discount for admission tickets. Great artists, wide variety of activities. First rate facility. I saw the The Bauhaus at 100: Modern Legacies exhibition and it blew me away.
Beautiful, eclectic museum that has grown over the years. David Hockney's Mulholland Drive: The Road To The Studio is here, along with a Renzo Piano sculpture and a Calder sculpture and the installation art Urban Light. Three Rothkos (my favorite artist). Magritte's The Treachery of Images (Ceci n'est pas une pipe) is here, and Rivera's Flower Day along with a beautiful section called the Pavilion for Japanese Art. A great place to spend a couple hours. Two places to eat. A nice gift shop. I do love this place.
