My favorite summer spot with free music concerts every weekends.
May just meet a lot of renovations or what
In short, closed
Feel limited collection
a little pity
Spectacular museum. Amazing, hip restaurant and general great feel to the area.
World class art relatively inexpensive. Free times available.
Interesting exhibits, beautiful art. Although, I didn't appreciate being YELLED at by the "security" staff (extremely loud, too. Like other people jumped because he started them) when i accidentally stepped over a taped line when hovered my hand over an illusion piece while walking thru the 3D exhibit, even though a different "security" staff member was doing THE EXACT SAME THING the same moment I was being yelled at.. still managed to have a nice time there though.
Excellent! I'm partial to the Rodin's, Impressionism and Japanese works. Choose yours, plenty there!
Very beautiful and creative exhibitions, but the rules and policies are very unforgiving.
You just have to visit for yourself, absolutely a wonderful place.
Alot of walking grounds with beautiful landscape. Great art pieces from the originals.
This was a nice little place to visit in the evening. It does get very busy but is a must see for anyone in LA. With the arrangement of the tall standing lights, it makes for some special photo opportunities and make sure you walk through the rows, it just feels right.
Enormous art museum with famous and modern pieces. Even the Libby is a piece of art.
Huge museum. Lots of good artwork. A little bit confusing to walk around though. Highly recommendable.
Nice place with very varied collections. A bit expensive all the same
It is the largest museum of art in the western United States. The local department is large and there are at least five pavilions (partially open).
I am most interested in the art of Islamic art because it is usually less touched and feels fresh.
$25 ticket but their best exhibitions - half of their total exhibitions - are in storage until 2023. They did a bad job of advising this.
Excellent curation, generous amount of space allotted to the artworks. A prime example of a great museum.
Go see the Charles White Exhibit at LACMA. It is beautiful!
Love this place. Every time I come here, there is something new to see and learn about. Plus, it is just a cool place to come and walk around & people watch.
Come to Los Angeles, a place to come, a lot of movie location, a good place to date
I love coming here. I was disappointed at the Japanese collection because it only had nothing but bowls poorly made by what i learned were modern Japanese people. Besides that i love the European art, the French, Italian, Spaniard, English, etc... My favorite was the Andy Warhol room and the rooms that connected.
The best art museum in the United States. (Yes NYC has great museums, but you have to hit the Guggenheim, MoMA, and the Met to see all the art.) At LACMA: it's all here. Admittedly, I was wowed by one particular show about Women Surrealists in the Americas. But my partner and I spent all day there and couldn't see everything.
Visited with a group of seniors to see the Picasso & Rivera special exhibition.
The staff is kind and helpful.
The quality of the art is always spectacular.
The museum is huge, I find something new every time I visit.
Cool place to take pictures and learn more about LA. Free entrance to the museum go if you can!
Whenever I visit this museum, I feel like I'm not getting the full experience as I should because the place is HUUGGE. It's definitely worth the admissions price. Wear good walking shoes, drink some coffee and embrace yourself for all that's ahead. Even then, you won't be able to go through everything they offer.
Much more niceier if you visited during night time to see the beauty of the lights.
LACMA is a Los Angeles treasure. It keeps getting better and better. They always have something interesting from their collection of German Expressionist work. Both rotating and permanent exhibits are great and it's easy to lose track of time here. There is something for everyone.
And don't forget about the free chamber music concerts at the Bing Theater!
Going there after 6:30. When the light open so beautiful
The museum is huge, you can find all kinds of art, from picasso to kandinsky, photographs and sculptures. and many others, you can also find art by new artists. I visited on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and the admission was free. I recommend visiting it early, since you can not see it all in one day. One of my favorite exhibitions was photography and video in 3d.
Really fantastic collection of modern, contemporary and Asian art in a beautiful campus, and arranged in a really cool way too. Loved seeing German and Russian Impressionist paintings, and a bunch of other kind of unusual art pieces as well.
It needs to be stocked with more supplies. Concept is great. It keeps kiddo engaged.
Loved it all exhibition are great, I am not a art buff would go again and again, awesome time me and my wife loved it!
A great museum, but a bit pricy if you're used to free museums
Good luck finding parking . Worth coming to just for the photo
I love this place. I always hang out here especially at night time because of the street lamps. The place is really pretty. I will definitely recommend this.
A very up and coming museum, a must visit for museum lovers
Exhibits can be interesting, but check before you go to see what's operating.
Huge number of pieces makes this museum a day long or multiple visit experience.
Such a diverse selection of amazing masterpieces! The people who work there are vern knowledgeable and they share that information willingly and wholeheartedly. My wife and I had such a great time!
We pretty much stayed outdoors and took pictures with the floating rock and the yellow rubber strings.
Great place to visit as this place has been in many movies and shows, it has a rich history behind all these light poles.
They have great exhibits and it's a very nice museum. Even the parking was very accessible. My only gripe is that some of the staff inside have really bad attitudes. You figure they'd be happier if they got to work in a cool place like this every day.
Love LACMA. They have kids painting room and free family workshops on Sunday (Sunday only.) Great exhibition, not an intimidating environment. My daughter (age 3.5) and I love here. We always grab food from the food trucks across the street since they are more affordable with better varieties.
It was my first time at the museum and it was worth the trip!!!
Went with my niece, we had a wonderful day and even went on a guided tour (no cost)
Huge museum with a great variety of exhibitions. You can easily spend a whole day there.
a great museum to come and spend the afternoon at. Lots of different art from pictures to full size art.
Best museum in LA. I waited for about 4 hours in the early morning in order to get into the recent Kusama infinity mirror exhibit.(you can still see one of her infinity mirrors just make sure to sign up as soon as you enter the building) The experience was well worth it. The staff at LACMA is knowledgable and friendly making the experience that much better. I came back the next month to see the Jasper Johns exhibit and was equally impressed. Do yourself a favor and check out this gem, no matter what artist is featured the permanent collection will blow your mind.
Wonderful collection of artwork. A must see for anyone visiting California.
Great museum with a variety of older and contemporary content.
Try going on Sundays around 6PM for the free Sunday Live broadcast - free live classical music, makes for a great date!
Lacma is a pretty chill spot to go if your in Los Angeles or visiting L.A the musuem is small but has alot to see plus the have a cafe and sometimes they have jazz or musical performances, they have the urban lights outside for a cool picture for memories, definitely visit LACMA
Good place to spend several museums in family in the same place. For free CA residents after 3:00 PM
it was good, lots of random stuff that didnt really fit in to the museum. but it was a good walk
Do you like paintings and classic art? Are you more of a modern fellow, with an appreciation for astetics and sculptures? Are you a wanderer, just looking for the "good sights?" Then this place is for you.
Located in close proximity to the tar pits and the museum of natural history, visiting this museum is a no-brainer. Make sure to take a photo holding up the big rock!
I enjoy every minute here, especially with the Japanese art.
They have the best exhibits here I love coming here or just watched a look at all the people and all the art
I recommend eating before or after the visit, as the dining options are more expensive than similar restaurants outside the museum.
At LACMA, you can see world-class art for $15 for adults and $10 for students. If you go to a school or live in L.A. county, the ticket is free after 3 p.m. I do not understand the high price for the specially ticketed exhibitions, but maybe they need to break even.
Fine art often appears distant from the public, so I personally would love to see pieces that the layman can better relate to and understand. Then again, I am sure the curators know more about art than I do.
Frankly, what I saw was pretty good. My main complaint was the price relative to what was available to be seen. We paid $25 per person, and more than 1/2 of the exhibit was under construction. I think that the price should have been adjusted accordingly.
This review is for the outside. Didn't have time to check out their exhibits. Pictures of what I liked.
Stark bar is fun as is the free outdoor Latin music.
